I had never been here before, so there was a brief hesitation since I thought this could either make me look like a foodie genius or a complete fraud. But then I saw photos of the beautiful olive tree in the dining room and thought, well... any restaurant confident enough to put a tree in the middle probably knows what it's doing. I was sold. The verdict? I'm glad I brought them--though there was one small caveat. The one con: We started with the Vegetarian Board. The vegetables were fresh and well-cooked, but I have to call out a small disappointment: the menu clearly says "chef's selection of vegetables and olives." Reader, unfortunately...there were no olives. Not a single olive in sight. In a restaurant with an olive tree, no less. The irony was almost poetic. Minor false advertising aside, the broccolini was also a bit more bitter than I personally enjoy. Now the pros (and there were many): The rest of the meal was exceptional--fresh, satisfying, and very authentically Italian. To start, we had fresh bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The olive oil alone almost stole the show. It was incredibly fragrant, with that bright, crisp olive flavour that lingers on your palate like it was pressed five minutes ago. I may or may not have eaten more bread than dignity allows. For my main, I had the pasta special of the day: oxtail casarecce, and it was fantastic. The sauce was creamy and packed with umami. The oxtail was tender and chewy at the same time, somehow both hearty and melt-in-your-mouth. And the pasta itself was clearly fresh--springy, perfectly textured. Fresh pasta really does make all the difference. My coworker ordered the paccheri con zucchine e gamberetti, which I sampled strictly for research purposes. It was lighter and refreshing, with delicate zucchini that made the whole dish feel balanced and satisfying. My other colleague went with the daily secondi special: pesce alla griglia (sea bream). I also tried a bite of that, and it was excellent--crispy skin on the outside, tender and flaky inside, juicy and full of flavour. The only small drawback was that the sides were the exact same vegetables as the ones from our Vegetarian Board, so by round two my colleague was a little overwhelmed by the déjà-vu of vegetables. Then came dessert--easily everyone's favourite part of the night. Two of us ordered the tiramisu, and honestly, it might be one of the best I've had. When they serve it, they pour a freshly brewed shot of espresso over the top, which soaks into the layers and perfectly complements the mascarpone and cream underneath. It was ridiculously good. Our other coworker ordered the pistachio strawberry cake and absolutely demolished it in about two seconds flat, which I think is the highest possible dessert endorsement. Price-wise: this isn't a cheap casual spot, but it's very reasonable for a high-quality dinner. My pasta, dessert, and service came out to almost $70, which felt fair for the experience. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was warm, and overall we had a genuinely lovely dinner. Most importantly, bringing my coworkers here made me look like I actually know what I'm doing when recommending restaurants--which is always a win. Olives or not, I'd happily come back. And next time, I'm thinking date night.

It is extremely popular, as many of the tables were filled with patrons even on a weekday night. We ordered the lasagna and a pizza, and both were amazing. The lasagna was a generous portion, and I hardly made a dent in it before having to ask for a takeout box. Pizza is made fresh in a wood fire oven, so it had a lovely texture and that beautiful char. Would definitely recommend.

And you certainly won't expect it to be this busy especially on Fridays and weekends. They were quite busy on a lazy Thursday as well. There was not an item that we've tried that disappointed. The margherita pizza was one of the better ones I've had in recent memory. The cheese had a good dairy taste and the sauce gave off a refreshing tomatoey flavour. The crust was a good marriage of doughy chewiness and slight crunch. All the pastas were homemade with an al dente texture. It really didn't matter if it's a cream based sauce or a tomato sauce, the flavours are on point. Out of all of the pastas I've tried, the wild boar which was part the day's special was the one that I'd least prefer. It's not bad, but I wouldn't say the taste of the meat was special in any way. And it was more of a ground up wild boar as opposed to chucks of meat. Would have preferred the latter. I really love their lasagna. Hearty, savoury and done right the Italian way. Pappardelle bolognese was equally nice. They also make a mean mushroom risotto. I have no clue why I spoke about main course first, but I can assure you that's not the order they were served. The arancini were a bit pricey, but again delicious. Caesar salad was solid, but would have preferred a bit more cheese shavings. I've never had dessert here so I can't comment on them. It was tempting to give Ciao Ragazi a 5 star rating, but the service was incredibly slow the first time I was there. I think the kitchen staff was just overwhelmed since the Asian gentleman in the open kitchen was responsible for salads, pizzas and desserts. Also, if they can tone down the sodium level by a pinch, it would have made their food near perfect. I'm a big fan of Ciao Ragazi and so is my family and as a result we've returned several times, both for dine in and takeout.

The restaurant usually closes for special celebrations/events during the day on weekends, so we were very grateful that they could accommodate us this one-time :) The service was A+, very friendly and welcoming host and servers. I absolutely loved the soup of the day: Minestrone. It was so hearty, delicious and filled with so much ingredients. The beet salad with arugula and feta cheese was delicious. The Genoa pizza was nice and thin, and loaded with pesto, pine nuts, chicken, mushrooms and cheeses. I would definitely come back to try more items on the menu (I'm eye that risotto our friend was having that day lol). Can't wait to come back!

The tiramisu was really really good, but what really was impressive was the ambiance and the service.
