a meatball sandwich in a styrofoam container
    Rainie L.

Busy lunch spot in Newmarket and with good reason. Their sandwhiches are delicious! I had the meatball sandwhich the other day and it came with 3 huge beatmalls with cheese (add-on). It wasn't as hot as I like so I ended up heating it for a few seconds in the microwave and the cheese just melted. It was SOOO GOOD. Today I had the veal on a bun. It was tasty but the veal was a bit hard so not good for eating in a sandwhich. Would probably be better if it was eaten with a knife and fork. Finished my lunch with a san pellagrino orange soda. Yummy! Their pizzas also look delicious, fresh and loaded with great topping combinations. And yes like others have mentioned, not much "pastries" here. They do have some bulk breads for you to buy but that's it.

The low down: A great place for a quick bite to eat! Great mom-and-pop shop ambiance. Busy and popular during lunch times! Recommendations: 1) Veal parmesan -- the go-to (I got this for lunch!) 2) Meat Lover's panzarotti Things I liked about the place: A good clean, well-organized, and spacious atmosphere (seat approx. 20-30 people). Tasty and fresh food. Things you may not have known: They cater as well apparently!

The chicken cutlet sandwich. Sweet tomato sauce instead of the traditional san marzano style sauce.

The pizza slice was big & good. The tomato sauce was tasty & there was enough cheese. There was some crispness to the crust. The veal sandwich was pretty good. The peppers were very spicy. There was enough cheese & sauce & the veal was crispy (at least in parts not covered by sauce): it was the crispiest veal in a veal sandwich I've had (albeit not as big as what I saw in a photo from 2013). The ravioli was good too. The ravioli itself was stuffed with meat & pretty good. The meat sauce had a lot of meat & was pretty tasty. Also had the baked panzerotti with mushrooms & pepperoni. Most places only offer the fried option, but here you can choose baked as well, which gives you basically a calzone. It was good. The crust was quite thin except at the ends, though that meant it did break at one part. It used good quality stringy cheese, with good quality toppings too. The food here is freshly made so it can take a while, especially the pasta. But it's worth waiting.

I do have to say I've been here quite a few times and I've never had anything to complain about and no one's ever complained about the food when we've come in groups This is a good place to come with groups because there tends to be something for everybody. Upon entering, you'll notice it's not the biggest restaurant but they use their space efficiently to maximize tables. Their drinks were a good pour, came nice and stiff. Cesar salad was salad and homemade dressing. Dressing was fresh with a hint of mustard. I enjoyed that slight variation. Didn't come with Parmesan cheese or croutons - not sure I'm in for or against that as of yet. Pastas were good. Had a spaghetti carbonara and a farfalle carbone which had smaller sized tiger shrimp. A little pricy for what it was but still really amazing food.

However, I…read morecan't tell you how unwelcome I felt the moment my family (me and my two kids) stepped foot in this restaurant. On a Wednesday evening just past 8:00pm, we arrived at the doors of the restaurant and was greeted by I presume the owner of the business who mumbled something along the lines of them getting ready to close shop. And if we are dining in we should make it a quick one. This is despite the fact, that they were scheduled to close at 9:30, both according to their sign and Google. Anyways, we were seated by the owner and eventually served by the server. To be objective the server was courteous and generally competent, however, he did fail to top up our waters throughout the duration of the meal. Food wise it was above average. The Caesar salad was quite different from most restaurants where there's no croutons, no bacon and no shaved cheese. But I thought it was enjoyable and I like the fact that the salad had traces of anchovy taste. The Margherita pizza was alright. The tomato sauce was refreshing and the cheese tasted right. The flour had a a pretty good floury taste, but the body of the pizza could be a bit more well done. My favourite part of the meal was the Bucatini All'Amatriciana pasta. It's an interesting pasta texture that I've never experience before; clearly homemade. The guanciale gave the pasta a nice umami taste. However, the above average food was not enough to overcome the unwelcoming feeling that hung over us. One thing I forgot to mention is before the meal, I had a couple pieces of garbages from my kids that I wanted to dispose of. The washroom had no garbage bin and on the way out they had a box that resembled garbage bins in a fast food restaurant. I mistakened it for a garbage bin and after I disposed of the garbage, I was told by the same owner that it was not a garbage can. Although I wouldn't say he was totally rude, the statement was blunt and the facial expression and body language pretty much gave it away. One thing that was positive about the experience was at least their transparency toward their non-participation in the tax break government initiative. They had a sign posted right on their main entrance. Mi Casa, Sous casa... my AXX... no wait that's Spanish. Whatever... you know how I feel about Casa Carbone.

I brought a group of 12 for a birthday dinner, and from the moment we arrived, we were treated with utter contempt by a server named Gustavo, who apparently also owns the establishment. The disrespect started immediately. While we were simply organizing our seating (before even ordering), he became visibly angry and hostile. After our appetizers arrived, he completely abandoned the table. Our used plates were never cleared, we were never asked how the food was, and we waited over an hour for our main courses. When we tried to order another round of drinks while waiting, Gustavo told us he was "way too busy" to take our order and that we "needed to figure it out" despite us being ready to order. When I politely mentioned that I hadn't ordered an appetizer and was very hungry, asking if my pizza could come out, he snapped, "You will get your order when all the others come out. I'm not going to push ahead your order for that." The "owner" then had the audacity to lecture us, raising his voice and telling us, "this is what I mean with you guys," because we had adjusted our seats at the beginning of the night. When I finally asked for the bill to escape the situation, he brought me someone else's check. When I pointed out the error, he blamed us again, laughed in our faces, and scoffed. When we told him we wanted to speak to someone above him, he condescendingly told us, "You're not in this industry, you don't know." Save your money and go somewhere where the staff, and the owner actually value their customers. Gustavo is unprofessional, disrespectful, and has no business being in the hospitality industry. Absolutely disgusting behavior.
