I absolutely love Locale Aurora -- it's my go-to spot in the Newmarket/Aurora area and it never disappoints. This time we ordered the Fungi and Margherita pizzas, and both were incredible. The Margherita is always a classic -- fresh, perfectly balanced, and with that amazing crust -- while the Fungi had such rich, earthy flavor and was done perfectly. Of course, the chili oil just takes everything to the next level. We also tried the Crostata al Cioccolato with pistachio for dessert and WOW... absolutely delicious. Rich, chocolatey with that perfect pistachio touch -- such a unique and indulgent combination and the perfect sweet ending to the meal. Everything is fantastic. From the start of our dinner, our server Matt was so friendly and nice. We ordered the fried calamari, fresh bread as starters and the main course is sea bass and ragu tagliatelle. Everything was sooo good. Literally. As I was eating the bread I thought wow... I would give Locale 3.5 stars. I went to a Locale on a Saturday night with four friends. We had reservations in advance, which I would recommend as the restaurant was very busy. When we got to Locale, we asked to be seated on the patio and the hostess was happy to accommodate us. The patio was very cute, and had fans to keep people cool on hot days. Our waitress was very friendly and engaging, however it did take a while to get our food after ordering. We ordered the beet salad, risotto, casarecce pasta, and the pepperoni pizza. The risotto was by far my favourite dish; it was so flavourful, especially compared to the casarecce pasta which was bland. I was very disappointed with the portion sizes of the beet salad, pasta and risotto. Truthfully, I left the restaurant hungry, which should not be the case if I'm paying $30 for a plate of pasta. read more

Went here with one of my good friends for a quick lunch. This would be my first time going somewhere in Aurora as I'm not usually in this area. Locale has a nice upscale restaurant vibe, everyone was very professional in the way they greet you and serve your meals. The host at the front was prompt and kind. Our server was very attentive and ensured we understood the menu since they had a lunch set for $35. The chicken filet was a little too crunchy/hard on the outside and salty to my liking. I've been to this location several times. The cooks are always smiling and cooking the food fresh for you. Twice the same server took care of myself and my companion, and she was very quick, helpful and considerate. The food is standard home style cooking, hot and tasty with usually three special choices. Stopped by here for a celebratory lunch and it did not disappoint. Our table of 8 ordered a bunch of dishes to try such as the calamari, the arancini balls, lemon artichoke pasta the steak and more. All the dishes were very flavourful and reminded me of some of the top and popular Toronto Italian eateries (but even better). The prices were on the higher side for the portion size but you really taste the quality and care that the chefs put into the dish. The service was great but, it was a little on the slow side so if you are looking for a quick lunch, this might not be the place for you. I made a last minute reservation to have a family celebration at Locale Aurora based on all the positive reviews. Upon arrival, we were greeted by very friendly staff. We got seated in the additional section patio. It was airy and nicely decorated. Although the setup wasn't as fancy as the regular patio, it was pleasant and comfortable. Sunday was served brunch only. We got our drinks and ordered our food. The server gave us a friendly reminder that the steak would take 30 minutes so we could order some snack to start with. I would highly recommend to get some bread, toasts, croissants to start with because it really awhile for our food to arrive. We had Steak and Eggs, mash burger, Benedict, and Smoked salmon platter. I have to say we enjoyed all the them. The quality was good. The presentation was nice. They are above average of most of the brunch places I have been. Price point is average and reasonable. Ordered the Grilled Calamari to share which included some spinach, red onion and tomato and then ordered the Paccheri Funghi, which was a mushroom, garlic truffle pasta. I thought the calamari was excellent (squid game anyone?) it was seasoned well and had great flavour. But the pasta for me was just alright. Your typical pasta from an upscale-ish Italian joint. First of all, the service from our server Matt was excellent. Very professional, genuine and attentive service. The decor is elegant with a black and white theme. Black leather sofas with a granite tabletop. Food was also amazing with a good variety of options for appetizers, mains, pasta and pizza. Pricing is also reasonable. I do believe the dessert menu has room for improvement though. We ordered the Pate (Foie + Chicken liver), it comes with a large jar of pate topped with olive oil and rosemary. It is very smooth and a little bit of the Fig jam enhances the flavour as well. Fried calamari and shrimp is also very crisp and fresh. The meat of grilled hen is surprisingly very moist - it comes with grilled potatoes and beans underneath the meat. Funghi pizza has mushroom topping with truffle oil. One of the best in York region. Locale is an inspiration to the north of the city with its beautiful menu, incredible decor and perfect service. A simple memu with 5 -6 dishes per category. All fresh and some seasonal items. The bone marrow and Pate are my favorite dishes. The pizza here is one of the best in the city of Toronto with an incredible dough and crust. The wine selection here is perfect for the size of the operation with bottles starting at about 50 bucks and moving up. The cocktail menu here is quite unique and they do some special twists on negroni. But the desserts don't fail here as they are extremely sought after and in most cases by the end of the night they are sold out for most of the items. From what I know everything here is House made from the pasta all the way to the desserts. I believe even the breads are all 100 % made in house. If you've never been here before, I highly recommend making the trip to one of the two locations. As the original restaurant is located in King City. read more

He actually got a mystery drink made for me since I couldn't decide on a cocktail; it was the Corpse Reviver #2. We had a couple of appetizers: Olive E Nodini was great! The bread was warm, soft and fresh upon arrival, and there was a good assortment of olives. The Fiori di Zuccha was quite good, I loved the crunch of the fried zucchini with the creamy ricotta. For my entrée, I got the Paccheri Funghi which had to be the best thing on the menu! It was so flavourful, creamy, and earthy. 100% recommend. I also tried the Gnocchi but I found it a bit dry, and I personally prefer a saucier bowl of pasta (especially when it's pesto). The flavour itself felt a bit mild in comparison to the Funghi pasta. The food is what I would call EPIC on another level. For starters, we ordered the grilled calamari, pâté, parmesan truffle fries. The starters were amazing The grilled calamari was crispy not too much batter just perfect. I am a huge lover of pâté and everything that is foie gras. Their pâté was phenomenal. It wasn't too fatty and it was a great mix with the fig jam and the the pickles on the side. The pickles gave it that extra sour taste which really brought all the flavors together. The fries were crispy and topped with so much parmigiana! For the main course we got the Spaghetti Frutti Di mare, PACCHERI FUNGHI, CASSERUOLA DI POLLO and the Sopressata pizza. Everything was amazing the mushroom pasta was the best mushroom pasta I've ever tasted! The chicken was juicy and flavourful! I'm so glad I discovered this cute spot in Aurora. Locale is just off of yonge street and has a lovely Italian menu. Came on a weekday evening for dinner after making a reservation a few days in advance. They have a nice patio and expanded it with occupying part of their parking lot as well. Decided to split 2 mains between my friend and I. Ordered the pesto gnocchi and also a traditional margherita pizza. The food was prepared quite promptly with continuous water fills and friendly service. The food was AMAZING! I loved the pesto - it was fresh and flavourful. The gnocchi was light yet satiating and didn't make me feel bloated. The margherita pizza tasted amazing with the crust and ingredients absolutely perfect! They also gave some Italian donuts (in small timbit size) as a complementary dessert. It was cinnamon apple flavour - absolutely delicious. Price point was also very reasonable! Overall i give this restaurant a 4.5 review! Been here twice and the service is top notch! When i made a reservation i wrote a note stating it was a bday celebration and wanted a candle with dessert. I did not mention anything when i arrived at the restaurant and after our mains they brought out an ice cream with a birthday candle! Boy was i impressed with that service and attention to detail! Food wise - some very spectacular dishes - i would recommend the mushroom pasta and the branzino. The gnocchi was mediocre to my palette (ive had better) it was very heavy and doughy. I'm local to the Aurora area, so I've passed this place multiple times but had never been! It wasn't until I saw a review on tiktok lol that I decided to check it out! People were raving about the tagliatelle so of course that is what I ordered. Truthfully the mushroom and pasta was good but the sauce and flavor was a bit underwhelming. I am comparing this to another pasta from a popular resto downtown so I may be wrong, but it was just okay for me! Glad to see restos in Aurora getting noticed! Since I went here a few years ago and had a delicious meal, I decided to suggest Locale to my friends for a luncheon. Today, unfortunately was a disappointment on so many levels! First of all, we wanted to make a reservation for 6 people at noon. They asked for $100 on a credit card in case of no show. Who does that?! I would never not call to cancel in these trying times. It's not like the place was rammed. Maybe 3 tables were being used. On to the meal...$18.00 for the Insalata Amaro, which apparently had to have some parm, fennel, walnuts and pear. Not appealing or tasty at all because it was mostly radicchio with very little dressing. Most of us ordered that, along with the buratta. That was delicious however, it looks like we got the end of the box scraps for crustini, paper thin. It would've been nice to have some sort of bread to eat the buratta with! There was perhaps one piece of crispy prosciutto and some shaved fennel and asparagus. All that for $23.00. Had delicious apple fritters, and a tea. All of that for $70. I can appreciate prices have gone up and I have never complained about paying for food, but honestly this did not meet any of our expectations. Like I said, I have been here pre-pandemic several times and the food was fantastic so I had no qualms referring. The one person in our group had a pizza which was very good and looked mouth watering but something was left to the imagination with the boring salad and incomplete buratta! On the upside, our waiter, Ash was very pleasant and very attentive! I hate giving bad reviews because the restaurant business is tough. Really enjoyed the brunch menu they had with the classic breakfast meal. The bacon had a maple glaze that gave it a nice different taste than what you'd expect or a regular bacon. Potatoes were done well in crispness and the egg with the extra garnishes allowed for more perception of flavours on your tongue. Experience was overall good and had a nice outdoor seating but it can get hot in the day with the summer and essentially is like a cookhouse. Service was overall good however on the slower side...brunch took about 2 hours but I would say 30-45 minutes of it was a slower wait in the corner not getting the service needed... hence will need to drop a star rating from 5. read more

My rating - 3.5 * I'll start off with some of the negatives as it's sort of how my experience started off. I booked this restaurant weeks in advanced for a birthday requesting a special spot on the patio. The person I spoke to basically guaranteed they would be able to accommodate but when I arrived the hostess said there was no note of that and that they'll have to leave the spot for other bookings. The hostess then scrambled around for half an hour to find a better table but was not able to. She told me I would also have to leave in an hour because there's another booking after me at 9:30pm. I questioned her by saying that the restaurant closes at 10 though, can I move to another table then? She said no, the whole restaurant is rebooked with reservations at 930. By the way, I ended up staying past 9:30 to finish my wine and I could see that everyone was cleaning up, restaurant was emptying with about half the customer lingering and there were no new reservations. Why not just tell me restaurant closes at 930 instead of lie? Anyways, the positives! - I really liked the patio setup, i think it looks adorable and it's actually hard to find a place like this in the area. - Our server was really nice and attentive, she came to check on us and topped up our wine at the perfect times. She also gave us a surprise birthday dessert on the house. - I would rate the taste of the food 7.5/10. Everything tasted pretty good but I would say the portions are a little small. It'd be nice if they had a wider selection of pastas as well. I'll come back here on a regular day with no special occasion since the food was tasty and location is good. If the restaurant is reading this, please work on organizing your booking system. It feels pretty awful to make advanced plans for a special night but arrive disappointed like this. read more

Tried Locale for the first time since our move and it was delicious! We ordered a pizza, a pasta, and a calamari to start. The calamari was crispy and flavourful. Although, I do feel that calamari is a dish that requires some kind of dipping sauce, this one didn't come with one. So if you are a dipping sauce kinda calamari lover, you may be disappointed. Flavour was still bold but be prepared. Next we had a pesto pasta. Al dente and a sharp basil passes through. I enjoyed the dish very much and as always, the pine nuts add the extra crunch of flavour which I really enjoyed. The pizza was also very good. Oven baked with obvious small burnt marks to ensure you that a stone oven was used. Overall, I was not disappointed and did I mention that their patio is very beautiful? Everyone else at the table enjoyed their meals as well. I would definitely come back! I want to try their dinner menu and for sure will go back for brunch to try something else!
