A nostalgic stop of our tours through Savannah. A good meal and warm-hearted service in a great setting. Do stop in for a touch of time. CritDicks

Pork Roast

My friend Matt and I decided to stop here after our sorrel weed house tour. We were feeling hungry and we wanted to have some good food so six pence pub it was we came in and immediately got the two person table by the window, it is close to the door, but you don't feel the cold of the air because it's insulated very nice. However, we did wait a little while for our server. She did drop off the menus. We got two sodas and then it took her 10 more minutes to come and ask us what we wanted for lunch. It's not really busy in the section that she's in, but I believe she helps the restaurant as a whole and she's not limited to one section. I ordered the pork roast with white rice and green beans and my friend Matt got the grilled chicken and green beans and rice . When the food came out I specifically told the server no mashed potatoes no gravy and there was gravy all over my pork. So I have to wait for my pork, which is sucky. My new pork arrived and it taste decadent. I did ask though for ketchup because I'm the type of person that wants to dunk my meat in ketchup. 10/10

We came here for linner. My shepards pie was fine - but way smaller than expected The biggest gripe was that we had several party members with celiac disease, and the server was not knowledgeable about which items were gluten free and which were not, and attempts to make a sandwhich with a lettuce wrap instead of bread returned cold meat in cold lettuce only. Logistics: - indoor and outdoor seating - limited street parking nearby but several lots and garages a bit further out

Chicken Salad Sandwich with Potato Salad

Stopped by around 2 pm for a late lunch. Got a quick seat and had a lovely server. I would love to come back when I had more time to sample the extensive beer list. The chicken salad sandwich was great to hold me over until dinner. Lots of classic pub fare to transport you to rainy London for a moment.

Went here a while back (January 2024), but I wanted to rate this place still. This was the first traditional English pub I have ever been to. I knew this place would have high hopes when this was the only establishment around Savannah with a 1+ hour wait. I was told to order the shepherds pie, and it did not disappoint. I would order this again. In addition, my drink paired nicely with the food. I found the place itself really cute. From the furniture to the wooden interior, I felt like I was transported to England. I would definitely come back next time I'm in the area

Awful experience! What is a cute pub is actual service dumpster of an establishment. Asked to be seated to get few drinks and snacks and was told they will not seat me if I don't eat a full meal. Great for you, and your garbage of service. It says Pub at the door!!!

Shared the Welsh rarebit and loaded banger apps and the Ploughman's lunch during a girls trip visit. All were great. The blue cheese dressing for the salad had chunks of blue cheese, how I like it, and all items were very large and shareable. Only (really minor) complaint is that the cheddar wedge wasn't as good as I was hoping. It may be more of a mild/soft cheddar but flavor was lacking by comparison to everything else. Overall, was very happy.

First off, the Six Pence Pub has a great look to it. With the red phone booth outside, you just want to enter the British style pub. The cool vibe continues inside with a nice bar and plenty of beers on tap. I enjoyed my Harp! The problem here was we didn't love the food. In fact, my wife's crab cakes were burnt on the bottom. To the restaurant's credit, they did give a free drink to make up for it. I'll also say that my homemade bread pudding was excellent! All in all, I would come back here to sit at the bar and enjoy a drink in a fun place. (I'd also make sure I ordered that dessert)!

Great find for us, but not unknown cuz they were packed!! Told us 20 minute wait but seated in 5. Woohoo! We started with Scotch eggs and Welsh Rarebit. Had never had either and liked them. The eggs were cold and had good relish and mustard to add flavor. The rarebit was warm and cheesy. Jess had Guinness beef is a bread bowl and it was delicious. I had Shepard's pie and wax equally awesome. The dinners were fantastic and would probably order again, even tho we like to try new things. We ended with bourbon pecan pie and again, really good. Our server was great, with both attentiveness and recommendations. The place is small but really cool inside.

I Loved the atmosphere at Six Pence Pub. Our bartender was super nice and very helpful. Allowing us to try several beers before we settled on our choices. Four of us came here in the afternoon on a COLD day in Savannah. It was a great respite from the temps and our day of walking around. The beer selection is fantastic ! Just about every style you could want unless you prefer boring beer. I would come here just to try a bunch of the options. The food was good (not outstanding) but still very acceptable. The Shepard's pie (really Cottage pie) was good but the serving was a little small. The soups were very good and I was told that the Corned beef sandwich was excellent. I am looking forward to returning to Six Pence on my next trip to Savannah.

Need an authentic English Pub experience? Then drop into the Six Pence Pub in Savannah, GA. The Great Gal and I had already had lunch, so we just stopped to have an afternoon beer. I went with a Shandy (Harp and Sprite)...GG went with an IPA Creature Comforts. Both nicely served by warm, friendly, and smiling Keisha. Great little place.

We liked this place. The waitress was excellent and kind, especially for our late 10pm Sunday evening dinner outing. We ate a chicken Caesar salad-the chicken was really fresh and delicious. And also a French onion soup, which was much spicier than we're accustomed to. They had a good beer selection as well that the hubs enjoyed picking from. Warm and cozy like a pub should be.

Beef Guinness, very good!

Love this place! Their sandwiches are delicious, and of course, their beer. French onion soup is a must as well! Very authentic and cozy atmosphere. Our waiter was amazing, quick and attentive, knowledgeable and patient with all my questions, even though they were super busy. Our Savannah trips are never without a stop here.

But I had never made it to Pinkies until this most recent visit, which came with the department from my company. Our guide gave us some history of the bar, including how former President Jimmy Carter paid a visit or two during his presidential campaign in the 70s. When you walk inside, there is a definite local and historic vibe to the bar. Dark green booths with a U-shaped bar as you walk inside. Framed photos cover the walls of locals from years past, including President Carter's. Drink-wise, they have some excellent cocktail specials. I ordered a Negroni, which I could take out with me since Savannah has an open-container ordinance where you can walk around town with alcoholic beverages so long as they are in a plastic cup. Very cool spot. But do note, it's cash only so make sure you bring cash. They do have an ATM on-site but you would do better going to the bank to do a withdrawal if you don't want to deal with additional ATM fees.

Their steak prices have gone up a bit, but the quality matches the price. I started with the French onion soup, a must. It's a hearty portion it a nice size crock. For the entree I had the steak frites + truffle fries. The filet was one of the best I've had in a while. It was a nice, thick cut. Prepared perfectly with a nice sear on the outside. The fresh cut fries were delish. Restaurants come and go in Savannah, but Circa 1875 is a staple!

I definitely do not regret our decision as we had a great meal. The interior ambiance of the restaurant truly transports to another place, it is truly beautiful. Our server was so gentle and gave us many recommendations on things to try and even accommodated some of requests. We started with the Espresso Martini and non-alcoholic French 75 (my first time) and these were both great. For appetizers, we had the crab croquettes (cakes), escargots and caesar salad. Everything was delicious (including the complimentary bread) , and to our surprise the Caesar salad had a nice crunch with the addition of fried frog leg pieces (if I'm not mistaken). The main entrees were the stars of the night, while we were originally inclined to try their Steak & Frites, our server recommended the steak tips sautéed over mushroom sauce with pasta and this was the perfect match instead of the classical French fries pairing. We also had the Supreme Roasted Chicken with caramelized veggies and everything was cooked to perfection. We did not leave without dessert and tried their Créme Brûlée, and while it was runnier than usual, the flavor was there. We thought it needed more time. Overall a great experience while in Savannah!
