One of my favorite spots in Savannah. The lowkey British ambience somehow fits perfectly in the middle of the the historic district, and the food is a notch better than what you'd find a random pub in London with similar menu items. My only complaint is that their prime rib, available Fridays, is too thinly cut. But the bangers and mash, shepherds pie, and other traditional menu options are all great. It's especially gorgeous around Christmas, giving Dickens-ish vibes. read more

Our first visit was excellent, so of course we returned. The following visits have been on a steady decline. We've returned several times thinking: certainly this can't be as bad as it was last time! Turns out, it is!! Watch out- the charm of the building and inside decor draws you in (especially at Christmas), but if you expect friendly or half-way efficient service, try another place. read more

Horrible service at the bar. Bartender never came down to our end of the bar after getting our drinks. We wanted to order food but after 20 minutes of being ignored, we flagged her down and with an attitude she said shes a little busy. No apology or anything. i have no problem waiting but at least acknowledge your patrons, and don't act like you are doing us a favor. Wont go back there again. read more

Our B&B inn keeper suggested we walk to this restaurant for a small meal and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. We only had the Brie and a dessert and both were excellent. read more

This is my second trip to Savannah and the second time I've eaten at this cute pub! We were going to the Savannah Theater and wanted to park just once so we ate dinner here because it's so close! We had wine and appetizers of smoked salmon, baked Brie & grapes, and the crab cake. We loved everything but the crab cake, which wasn't what we expected. It was very ground up crab so the texture threw us off. We were expecting more of a lump crab cake style. We should have asked the server what Daufuskie Island-style meant so it was our fault! Our server was not as friendly as it seems everyone in Savannah is, but we enjoyed our meal and just love the atmosphere here! read more

Visited Six Pence today for lunch and it was incredibly busy but we were lucky enough to snag a bar seat and we were so impressed by our bartender April. We were mesmerized by her ability to multitask. At one point I offered to answer her phone as it never stopped ringing and her bar was packed along with her making all the service drinks for the entire restaurant. WOW! She was efficient, friendly and seemed to be juggling all the managerial duties as well. We had the loaded banger which delicious and the French onion which was also very good. read more

If you want a casual pub that serves good food, generous portions, and has excellent draft (or draught, in British?) pours, Six Pence is for you. We'd been to the Six Pence in Blowing Rock before, but my brother and his wife wanted to try them while visiting Savannah. I didn't want a huge meal, and opted for the loaded banger as my entree. It was perfect for me! My husband had the shepherd's pie. The gravy was delicious, and the potatoes were covered in melted cheese. The salad was really good, too! You can't go to Six Pence without getting one of their draft beers, and my husband enjoyed their black-and-tan. If you don't finish your beverage (or want to take one on the road), they are in a 'social district,' so you can bring it with you in a disposable cup! We'd definitely return. read more

Spent a day walking around Savannah and found Six Pence Pub for lunch. It's a cute place, service was ok. My wife and I both got a sandwich with potato chips and a coke. Both were ok, but for over $46, $56 with tip, not worth the price!!! If ever there again, may have a beer but will just go to Subway for a sandwich and pay half of what Six Pence Pub charges:) read more

This is the cutest pub. The atmosphere was truly amazing, especially at Christmas time. My family and I were able to get a table right away. Our waitress was polite enough but looked bored and detached. She only asked us about our food when my spouse needed to send it back because the order was wrong. My daughter ordered salmon, which was very raw in some parts. My sandwich was delicious, however. I saw the manager walking around talking to others. It seemed like a very established and beloved place. We may have just had bad luck our first time here. read more

Was there today and did not enjoy our visit. The waiter had a poor disposition from the moment we arrived. Food took exceedingly long time to arrive, and lo and behold the food that arrived was not what was ordered. Ok no problem when the waiter finally did return after 10 minutes we let him know the issue. He went supposedly to bring the correct Cesar salad. I suppose that would only take a couple minutes to prepare a Ceasar salad. No, another 10 minutes passes at that point we just had them cancel everything. There was no apology or explanation, still an unpleasant disposition and that was that. So long story short don't expect much from this place. To potential patrons, I am sure you can find much better in a city full of eateries. read more

We arrived after 8 PM on a Tuesday in Savannah. There weren't a lot of food options still open but the Six Pence pub looked like a cozy spot. I didn't find out until later that it was used in the filming of a movie. The inside is warm and cozy. The menu items are traditional British pub fair. We started with Welsh rarebit. It was tasty and fun with capers, chopped onions, and a nice little savory pickle type condiment on the side. For mains we had pot roast and stewed beef in a crock. Both were very tasty and the portions were hearty. I had the greens with mine. Although the waitress swore they contained no meat they were still quite flavorful. We had a couple small splits of Prosecco as well. we finished up with bread pudding which was very flavorful although it could've used a little more whipped cream. We did have an interesting experience as halfway through the meal my wife's water glass seemingly flew off the table and smashed on the floor. I chalked it up to dripping condensate and a slippery table although the waitress swore that incidents like this happened a lot in the restaurant and were attributable to ghosts. It's been a while since I've had Six Pence and I'll just say it's been far too long! My husband and I stopped by for a late lunch. I love that they have indoor and outdoor seating. It was a bit too hot for outdoor seating so we opted for the ac! He had the turkey sandwich. It had thick sliced turkey and kettle chips. He really enjoyed it. I had the pot roast sandwich on French bread and swiss added cheese. The roast was tender and flavorful! The bread was soft with the perfect amount of crispy on the outside. I also got mashed potatoes - they were super yummy! We'll be back again soon! read more

Oh boy. For a British Pub, the beer selection was poor. We just didn't get any beer. Then, my partner ordered the bangers n mash. It was beyond awful. He just asked the server to take it back and no, don't bring me anything else. He felt that if a pub can't get this basic dish (one of their specialties) correct, he didn't want to roll the dice again. In this British pub... the basics just weren't passable. I ordered a Reuben. The meat seemed as though it were purchased from a deli. The server was hot, sweaty and slovenly looking. It was a disaster. The inside of the restaurant smells funny- musty. We had a table outside but it was off balance and so everything wobbled. Just not great. In a city with so many options- and good pubs- you can skip this one. read more

British pub/restaurant with a telephone booth on the side. It also seems to be a meeting spot for ghost tours, as a guide asked me if I was joining in on the tour (which I wasn't). My friend and I came around 7:30 and were seated immediately. It's dark and the tables are close, but there was one bachelorette big party group so you can have big groups there. The food was really tasty and the beef Guinness I ordered was super hefty. The stew soaked quite nicely into the bread, and the bread was perfectly chewy. My friend liked her burger and they give you a ton of chips on the side. Indoor dining is available. Credit cards are accepted. They do serve alcohol. Restrooms are available in the back left hand side. Our waitress was nice. The telephone booth was a fun picture spot, but probably better to go by during the day if you're planning on having a little photo shoot. read more
