Let me begin by saying in my opinion this is a whiskey or bourbon lover's wonderland. When I was scanning the menu I noticed it even says, "Every bourbon is a type of whiskey, but not all whiskey is bourbon." It was love at first sight and sip (the Gold Rush). For full transparency, I originally ordered the Domestic Rye Flight. For context, I had never had rye before and wasn't in love with the individual pours, but I did love the presentation. The bartender noticed and kindly offered to rescue me by mixing them all into a Gold Rush (pictured). 10/10 recommendation. I ordered the chicken melt, sweet potato tater tots, and whips. All were very healthy options. If you are looking for something clean, minimally greasy, and lightly seasoned, that's the way to go. I personally plan to try a different melt next time until I find the one that's right for me. The customer service was amazing and the bar tops were clean when I arrived. I was greeted upon entry and seated immediately. The bartender on duty was knowledgeable, personable, and shared some background on the Jack Daniel's Sinatra Century bottle, which I had never seen before. All in all. It was a decent place to stop. the bartender was so friendly and she made me a couple of delicious French 75 type cocktails. I also had the fried shrimp sandwich which was decent - hot crispy perfectly fried shrimp on an uninteresting bun with basic potato chips. It satisfied. The gourmet grill cheese was small and I expected more. I have had gourmet grilled cheese before but it was nothing like this. I ordered a salmon dill grilled cheese. The sourdough was crisp, the salmon was a bit dry and very bland, and topped with brie and avocado. I think I needed garlic salt, mayo or mustard would have helped the taste. I had a frozen whiskey sour it was tasty not strong at all and a part of the drink special. Then I got a whiskey and ginger ale. The bar area/room was inviting and the server was very kind. I had the Goatty which has goat cheese, fried beets (this was a risk..never had before), walnuts. Sooo yummy! The sweet potato tots are are great starter but the portion is really small if you're sharing. That's my only knock is the portions. Small. Soups are delicious. Highly reccomend tomato. Located on the corner of Montgomery & Oglethorpe inside of a hotel this place is worth the visit. I visited late afternoon(4ish) and sat at the bar. It was a Friday but the restaurant was barely full. I ordered a frosé and decided to try out some food. The chicken grilled cheese is AMAZING. Definitely a must try. And super filling. Walking around late in Savannah and this place was open and the vibe just said Hey Come in and get *Toasted* so we did. First thing ..I ordered a old fashion with their house whiskey..Four Rose's. Than we picked items from the menu.. for me it was a Chicken Melt. It had pesto and came with sweet potato chips. It was a winner for sure.the atmosphere was dark but cool with touches of design elements such as the ceiling paintings and lamps. I was in town for a business meeting and walked past the restaurant, we all thought it looked really cool and love the menu. Then reality struck, portion sizes are small compared to the prices. Cocktails were decent, but they seem to be out of a lot of craft beers. The chips my dinner was served were crushed like they were the bottom of the bag. Sandwich I got for my dinner was OK. I LOVE that this hotel is connected to the SpringHill hotel; what a bonus. I came here every night during my stay. Except they are closed on Sundays and Mondays - bummer (it seems to be because of COVID - of course). I can't really speak to the food (except the tomato soup, which was delicious), but the drinks are creative and delicious. The bartender, Megan, is a mixmaster and came up with plenty of creative cocktails throughout my stay. Although connected to the hotel, you can not do a room charge (they are separate businesses), so make sure to bring cash or a credit card. I like the atmosphere here, especially the live music on Saturday nights. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and the location is prime; they are in the middle of everything in Savannah. read more

Came here because of the convenience of being attached to our hotel and who doesn't like grilled cheese sandwiches? I got the oddly weird Crispy Goat but there was nothing crispy except the bread. It had goat cheese, roasted beets, and fig jam. I like goat cheese so it was a sweet sandwich but just not big enough. Kid got a pulled pork grilled cheese sandwich minus raw onions. He loved it and couldn't stop raving about it. Additionally, the wife got the chicken which also had basil pesto and Parmesan with cheddar cheeses. She, too, raves about it. Wife and I also got the tomato soup which was very tasty with the croutons, and I additionally got some sweet potato tots. They hit the spot but could have been fried a tad longer. I put a lot of them into the soup. Surprisingly, wife got a flight of bourbon. She preferred the honey one over the straight and pepper, but she said she is not a true fan of any of them. I had a Moscow Mule and I tell you the ginger beer makes the drink and this one was not a fav. So apparently this is a hotel restaurant. Very weird vibes. The photos on yelp and their website make it seem like a vibe but it's definitely not a vibe. It was definitely giving hotel restaurant. The only good thing about this place was the cocktails and service they were both delicious. On the other hand the sandwiches very disappointing. They advertise a ton about how they only use sourdough and when I think of sourdough I expect a nice crispy crunch mmmm mmm mmm! There was no crunch it was pretty dang soggy. They also advertise Friday nights as blues night let me tell you that was not blues. They had a singer with a guitar who wasn't bad but not even close to blues. My father would've been very upset. I just ate lunch here. There was a sign that said please wait to be seated, so I did. The server, Megan, came over and told me I can sit anywhere and she would bring me a menu. She wasn't rude, she wasn't friendly just a matter of fact. I ordered, and ate the Goat Toast. It was delicious. It came with a few potato chips.... Very few.... And a pickle. I asked for the bill and the server came back and just slammed it on the opposite side of the table and kept walking. It was odd... It felt cold and unkind. She came back and picked up my card then when she dropped off the bill for me to sign she noticed an Older couple had seated themselves right across from me. She snapped at them and said "oh okay so I guess we are seating ourselves!" She grabbed 2 menus tossed it in their table and walked off abruptly. My jaw dropped. I couldn't believe how rude she was to this couple. First of all, the man was struggling to walk, nevertheless stand, secondly, besides 3 people drinking at the bar, I was the only restaurant customer in there... the place was empty. Lastly, she literally just told me to seat myself and is now scolding an elderly couple who needs to sit, for doing so. The decor was chic and fun. The environment was casual and great for a date. The waitress was helpful and pleasant. I had the southern origami, which was delicious! My husband has the aqueduct, which was just ok. We had the chicken melt and the toasted monsieur with fries. Both were cooked well, great combination of flavors and really hit the spot. Honest opinion time here: not sold yet on this restaurant. Nothing was bad and overall my experience was fine. Pros: the inside is super vibey. Loved the way it looked. Super cool atmosphere. Interesting music. Fun lighting for a night out. Menu pleased everyone I was with including one picky eater and a vegetarian which is why we came here. Con: they were out of the sweet potato tots! So don't get me wrong, I still love this place. But I've noticed the past 3 visits that the size of the grilled cheese sandwiches have shrunken by a good amount. Went and looked back at my photo I posted when they first opened and it's a very noticeable change in size but they still charge the same price. This will definitely be the last time I get a grilled cheese from here until they go back to making them the same size as they did when they first opened. Went there prior to a concert across the street to have drinks and food. I ordered three drinks and a sandwich. The bill came out to $63.00. See the photo of bill. They added a 2.00 charge under cocktail without explanation and it isn't on their menu. A fellow guest got a 2.00 charge for "Rocks", they had a chivas on the rocks. The food is grilled cheese sandwiches. They are fine but a bit overpriced. Their staff wasn't the most attentive but maybe it was an off night. We ordered the Bee's Knees (a deliciously refreshing cocktail with Gin, honey and ginger ale) and a custom cocktail... Megan, our bartender really knew what she was doing...both drinks were fantastic. We also ordered a smoked salmon, Brie and avocado sandwich. When I heard about Toasted Barrel, I was ecstatic! The menu showcased two of my favorite things: a large selection of bourbons and gourmet grilled cheeses! What more could I ask for? Unfortunately, the overall experience fell a little flat. The restaurant is located right in the heart of downtown below the SpringHill Suites Hotel. When we walked in, I immediately loved the modern atmosphere and the gorgeous bar area. However, we were surprised that the restaurant was completely empty at 1pm on a Saturday! I have to say, the wait staff was less than impressive. Our waitress looked around for a table and circled us through the entire empty restaurant before seating us at a table directly in the sun. There was no friendly southern charm or even a description of the menu or drinks. We ordered a Sazerac and the Thyme to Toast cocktails, which were both strong yet satisfying. The grilled cheese sandwiches range from $6-$12, and they are all served with a small side of chips. Additional sides are available as add-ons. I ordered the smoked salmon grilled cheese with a side of tomato soup and my boyfriend ordered the toast "monsieur," which was a grilled cheese with ham, gruyere, and mustard. He also ordered a side of the sweet potato tots. The food was good, but it honestly wasn't remarkable. The dishes felt like they were missing something; the flavors didn't pack much of a punch. Maybe they need a signature sauce? Also, we felt totally ridiculous getting a bill of ore than $60 for grilled cheese sandwiches. The cocktails were good, yet small pours for $10 a glass.
