During our search for a local bar, we came across Wet Willie's. I saw the photos online and immediately knew that this was the spot! When you enter, you are carded and led to the long bar where you get to choose your frozen daiquiri flavor or mix it up! The bartender was nice and friendly and gave us plenty of time to choose what we wanted. We both ordered large, thinking we'd go back for another. Boy, a large is enough! I ended up finishing my husband's drink so you know it was a fun time. We sat down at a table and enjoyed our drinks. They do offer food but no one came over to us so I don't have a review on that. We had the Monkey Shine and Chocolate Thunder daiquiris. Both were delicious and strooooong. I definitely want to come back and go smaller in size so that I can try different flavors. On Sunday, December 21st, at around 1pm, we made a stop here. I have visited several Wet Willie's, and this one, by far, has the best service I have had in years. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted, and they took their time to customize the perfect flavors for us. Generally, at other locations, I feel as if I'm always rushed, but at this one, I felt at home. The cocktail mix was fantastic and the staff were beyond words. I did not get the names of the staff members, but they were very knowledgeable about the brand and the product, far beyond most other people at other locations. There were very few chairs available downstairs, but there was seating upstairs. And the bathroom downstairs... you can see underneath the doors, basically. So don't go to the bathroom here. Other than that being, the food was SO GOOD!!! It was insane!!! I couldn't have believed a place like this would have some of the best food I've ever had!! They have the fish tacos but we ended up subbing it for shrimp since fish wasn't an option that day. (Or it was a computer system glitch, but either way.) The shrimp was SO yummy and crispy, and the breading was thin in the best way possible. They had a creamy sauce to go with it that didn't taste like much, but when you mixed the lime with the sauce, it was perfect and brought out the flavor. Next was the shrimp gumbo, and I could have fallen on the floor from my shock. It was savory in a way that I didn't know something could be. I would be eating there pretty often if I lived in Savannah. Lastly we got the chocolate freeze mixed with the White Russian and it was phenomenal. The mix blended very well and complemented each other. The chocolate tasted like a fudgesicle and while that was good, it would have been too much to only get that. Mixed with the White Russian, it was perfect. 10/10 food, 0/10 bathroom. It was clean, but nobody wants someone to be able to lean down and see completely under the door. Down here in Savannah for Mother's Day weekend, and we went barhopping on Saturday evening. Back in Jacksonville they have The Daq Shack and this is my version of that here in Savannah (but the Daq their drinks are way stronger and it's a club on certain nights). It's a whole wall of frozen alcoholic drinks and you get your choice of buying reusable cups that can be refilled at a cheaper price. FYI: They also serve liquor and beer now! Tony and I was stuck in Traffic 20 miles from Savannah for over 2 hours. We finally made it there and went straight to Historical River Street. We parked, Paid $4 for 2 hours & went straight to Wet Willie's. It wasn't pack which was very nice. It's located in the bottom level of an old Warehouse. The interior brick walls of the structure is AMAZING!! I love old buildings. This is a Diaquiri bar with the wall of Machines twirling around with the various flavors just like in New Orleans I don't drink anymore proudly Sober since 2006. But they do give out samples because I heard waitress telling some customers at table beside us. She said all the flavors are premixed. They also off Jello Shots for $2, so I bought one for Tony. Here in Savannah like in New Orleans you can drink outside as long as in a cup, No cans or bottles and you must have your Valid State ID with you. We ordered a Nacho with Beef and Beans to share with tomatoes, onions, jalapeños, sour Cream, Guacamole and salsa. Tony ordered a PBR & I got a Pepsi. I haven't been in years but the food is still the same, delicious! I got the gumbo and it was the perfect level of hot & spicy goodness. That bowl of gumbo warmed my heart and body when I needed it the most because their air conditioner definitely works in there. I am just cold-natured lol. We were on a short trip to Tybee Island and came to Riverfront Savannah and stopped in at the Wet Willie's on the Riverfront for my husband's birthday, which isn't until tomorrow. We had the best experience, Paul was our bartender and was on top of his game and was very pleasant and personable. We continued to then walk around downtown Riverfront and ended up back at Wet Willie's and we were happy to see that Paul was still working. Again, he was over and above and treated us very nicely. Unfortunately, not slushies from this place. We were bothered by the dinginess, sticky floors, and smell. However, we planned to take our drinks and go, so none of that should matter. However, we failed to consider that the drinks would taste gross. We ordered a Dreamsicle and a Call A Cab. The first few sips of each were OK, but the tastes got really old, really quickly. My wife and I enjoy visiting Savannah every so often and just walking around visiting stores and restaurants. By restaurants, I actually mean bars. We've been through City Market numerous times over the past few years but for some reason never noticed the Wet Willie's off to the side. We never pass a Wet Willie's without stopping in and getting a daiquiri. Well Savannah is the perfect city for a frozen daiquiri in a plastic cup because you are legally allowed to walk around the historic district with an "adult beverage." We always get the "Call a Cab" which is absolutely delicious. Although the do have a menu for snacks and food items I've never eaten at a Wet Willie's so I can't comment on that but their daiquiris are delicious. read more
