We were walking by at dinner time on Monday and we stopped to look at the menu. As we were perusing the menu, a group came out of the restaurant and we asked how it was. The group of four all enjoyed their meals and praised the burgers. We stepped in and waited to be seated. The guy who seated us just walked us to a table, put menus down and walked away. It was a bit strange. When our server came to take our orders she was very friendly and was a good server throughout the meal. The food came out quickly. The Falcon and pasta salad were very good. Initial Reaction: We needed to find a spot that would provide a quick lunch without breaking the bank before I started my staff retreat itinerary. Dubs Pub was an easy fix, right across the street from the JW Marriott, and they had gluten-free options. Granted, the gluten-free options for my wife were limited to mostly salads, but they were well portioned, like the Southwestern Chicken Salad. For me, who can eat gluten, I went for the hot-buffalo-style chicken skins and the Dubs Burger, which came with Dub's bacon, jalapeno beer cheese, spicy ketchup, and fresh jalapeño. I probably should have held off on the burger because it was a lot of food, especially with the pub fries. It was really good, but I ordered too much. The chicken skins were fantastic, made from thigh meat, which is my favorite part of the chicken because it's the most tender. Service was fast in this spot with the sports-bar decor; wooden walls and interior, surrounded by flatscreen TVs, lots of specials on drinks and pitchers of beer (ok, that's more from the menu). We visited Savanah GA for the Nike Showdown and made a group reservation by email for a group of 32. I communicated with the restaurant up to the day of the reservation. We arrived and were told they didn't have a reservation but of course I had the contract and emails. The manager on duty immediately contacted the lady I was communicating with to see what they could do because they made a mistake with the days. I will say they made it happen without any hesitation and for that I give them 5 stars. This could have went differently but they took ownership of the error and made up for it by the amazing food and service they gave us. We had two waitresses who did a great job taking care of us all. The food came out hot and so good! Not one complaint out of 32 of us including teenage girls and everyone left full and happy. Then... crickets. We sat, we stared, we contemplated sending out a search party for our server. Finally, the manager swooped in to take our order, probably sensing we were about to start gnawing on the tablecloth. To their credit, they tossed us a free appetizer as an apology. Sweet gesture, but let's just say it wasn't exactly a culinary love letter. My girlfriend ordered the smoked salmon salad, dreaming of a beautifully smoked fillet. What arrived looked like it was scooped straight from a can of bargain-bin salmon--no smoky flavor, no finesse, just sadness on a plate. I went for the shrimp and grits with a chorizo sauce, expecting a Southern classic with a spicy twist. Instead, I got a big ol' bowl of "meh." The sauce was trying so hard to be fancy, but it landed somewhere between confused and forgettable. Dubs calls itself "elevated pub food," but I'd call it "overly complicated not-good pub food." We stopped in after an afternoon of shopping Saturday, around 3 PM. It was not busy at all, which, being located on River Street, I was surprised. Thankfully, this was just an added bonus! It got soo busy not even an hour later. We were greeted by the host and sat within 2 minutes. Our server seemed to be 1 of 2 on the floor, and he still did a great job taking care of us. Our drinks were never empty and he recommended us the pork nachos- which were definitely the right choice. The beer cheese was delicious. Our Cobb salad was good too, with finely chopped chicken and a yummy jalapeño ranch (I really enjoyed this sauce). The restaurant was clean, with a large amount of TVS playing. The waitress was incredibly nice, but it was just a lot of little things that kept adding up to make the experience negative. 1) There were no prices on the drinks menu and the server needed to keep checking. 2) The drink I ordered came with a cookie, but there was no cookie and after the server brought it, she said they hadn't had the cookie for several months (why not share that when the drink was ordered? No discount was offered until I asked for one) 3) We ordered Beyond Burgers and it was blatantly obvious that they didn't wipe off the grill before making them. (I didn't want to say anything bc I already said something about the drink) 4) Condiments weren't brought with the burger so we waited for them while the burger got cold 5) The onions we ordered were not on the burgers so we then waited for those as the burgers got colder. 6) The cost for the serving sizes of the food and drink were not worth it. 7) my husband took out his wallet this afternoon to pay a bill and realized his credit card was missing. After a rainy walk on River Street we needed somewhere easy to eat and were lucky enough to find Dub's. The interior is sports bar meets Irish pub with lots of brick and wood. Staff was berfriendly and we were seated immediately. We ordered a pimento cheeseburger, carnitas bowl (on the specials menu) and the chicken finger basket. Everything was actually very good. The burger was large and seasoned well with a generous portion of yummy pimento cheese. I ordered the pasta salad as a side and it was equally as good. The carnitas bowl was loaded ingredients and very flavorful. Even the chicken tenders were nice sized and tasted great. We asked for both the peach honey mustard and jalapeño ranch dipping sauces and you should too. The fish and chips at Dub's Pub were well made simple, fresh, and enjoyable. My husband and I both ordered fish and chips with a drink, so it was a quick and easy lunch. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food. Our server brought out our meals, ask if we needed anything, and then we didn't see her again. My husband ran out of his drink and it was never refilled or checked on. The host was on his phone, and we noticed several servers sitting at a table near the front chatting as well on their phones, which contributed to the lack of attentiveness. It did seem like the bar area may have been receiving better service based on what we observed. We actually visited Dub's twice on our visit to Savannah. Our first time was on a Friday night. We got in to town late ....and not many places serving food were open. We found Dub's right along the river and took seats at the bar. I wanted a cold beer; bur they were out of many draughts on their list. I had wanted a local beer; but settled on a Cold Snap. This time they were out of Cold Snap in addition to several other beers. We were with a big group and just drinking. I had a Blue Moon and then something similar to a Dark & Stormy. I felt like I didn't want a huge meal, so I opted to get the pulled pork nachos with I guess they call it beer cheese, bbq sauce, jalapeños. Well I got what in effect was a big ol plate of what I'd call a mess. It looked like someone put way too much of the so called beer cheese. It was bland, and hardly any flavor. It seemed like it was just a whole bottle of mayo with a few other things thrown in for good measure. I had a little gag reflex by the end of the plate. There might have been enough pulled pork on it, but there was no way to tell, it was one gigantic glob of what tasted like a bunch of mayo in the center and it covered everything. Did not compliment the other ingredients in any way. Presentation was very poor, taste was bland. Lemme tell ya, Gordon Ramsey would have a few choice words more than I had, if he ate there.
