I'd been desperate for pho, the simple but amazing Vietnamese soup whose broth takes almost a whole day, several pounds of beef and beef bones, and the chef's full freaking attention, if it's done right. Saigon Cafe on Waters Ave. closed, and that was the last place I knew in Savannah that served that exquisite, clear soup. I always get chicken soup (pho ga). The new owners are doing good work, but I'd been spoiled. The broth doesn't have the depth, and it isn't hot enough. It's gotta come smoking, fogging glasses, clearing sinuses. But Boomy's brings the broth. I've been there two or three times, and it's my new pho go-to. The noodles are wider than At Saigon Cafe, but that's fine; they hold their bite longer without getting mushy. Please note: Boomy's is a bar on Congress Street in Downtown Savannah. It's wheelchair accessible and laid back. A Dad out with his two young boys asked if one kid could use the bathroom and was welcomed ... no purchase, no hesitation. And a lady in a wheelchair with her companion and her dog ducked in for a soft drink and a rest. Everyone's welcome. Nothing about its façade or dive-bar vibe suggests it serves bangin' Vietnamese food. Waitstaff is quick to show you the burger menu on the back, in case pho isn't your jam. Because they serve Thai food as well, they're careful to have you choose your heat level. They're happy to give you pepper flakes on the side and Sriracha at the table. But my pho didn't need it. My lunch companion got the rare beef pho. The hot soup came with thin slices of beef wrapping in foil on the side. Drop it in and it cooks. Looked delicious. My pho ga was amazing. I rarely can eat it all, but I did that day. My only minor complaint is that the bean sprouts looked a little less than fresh, but I'm not a big fan of them in soup anyway. Didn't slow me up one bit. But I AM a big fan of their cucumber and tomato salad. Cukes, chopped tomatoes, grated carrots, and maybe grated radish were all dressed with fish sauce, maybe rice vinegar, and a little sugar. If I'd had some cilantro I would have added it; cilantro is expensive these days. Can't blame them for not including it. It may be available by request. Oh, and try the cocktails. I had the tequila cooler and subbed watermelon vodka for cucumber vodka. So refreshing. Go to Boomy's. Get there on one of the few remaining cool days of spring. Or if you come down with a spring cold. Or if you work downtown in an office meat locker, go to warm up from the inside out. It's worth the hunt for parking. read more

This place is AMAZING! I was visiting and wanted some late night eats on a Sunday night, there wasn't any Asian places open, but thankfully I found Boomy's. The food was absolutely delicious, I got the chicken pad Thai and the fried hand wrapped dumplings (I prefer less ginger in my dumplings, so I wasn't the biggest fan). I thought the medium spicy had some good heat and was happy with that choice. And the drink prices were really reasonable, even too good to be true on some (Eagle Rare for $8!) Gee, this looks like a bar and we'll, it is a bar. But It's also a great little restaurant. The menu is certainly short, but not in stature. If you're a foodie, you will really like this place. The ambiance...like I said, it's a bar. The service was outstanding. Prices were most reasonable, exceptional if you consider the quality of the food. I can't believe I haven't been here. My friends and I stopped by for some drinks, but mostly for the food. Thai bar food and yummy slushees. Who would have thought that this is the best combo! It's not super fancy or overpriced like a lot of places downtown. I think if you're visiting and need some food without the frills, go here. If you live here and want something away from all the downtown chaos during the day, go here. We each had the Thai fried rice. I had the level 2 spicy flavor, and my friend had the level 3. The Chicken Satay was barely there and the Pho was trash, we had a minor and couldn't dine in, the ambiance outside was chill, the main reason for the 1 star is because, I ordered to go, my family of 4 and I were starving after our late night ghost tour, stopped here and when I finally got my to go order, the girl said she gave me all the chicken satay she had because a new truckload with inventory would come the next day, I paid $14.50 for each plate of chicken Satay (total of 2 plates) for 3 slices of chicken and a cup of rice and the $17 Pho was disgusting. It was a total waste of $50 total. There was no need to scam me, you could have told me you didn't have enough food to make a plate, instead of just taking my money and sending me off. I would never go back to this place, complete trash! Boomy's has some of the best Thai food around. We've been here several times. The atmosphere is sports bar/late night bar and the food is served in to go boxes BUT don't let that be a deterrent because the food is excellent. I got the sesame chicken noodles (spice level 2) and my husband got the Pad Thai (spice level 3) both dishes were delicious. The spice levels are HOT! Even my level 2 was very hot and the level 3 was almost too hot for my husband. If you enjoy a casual atmosphere, like watching sports and eating Thai food, Boomy's is the place. Food delivery showed up with raw meat and no silverware? We ordered Boomy's through DoorDash, and upon opening our orders we found that the "beef" was completely RAW and dripping blood all over the noodles. I can understand forgetting to throw in silverware, but serving raw meat is absolutely absurd. Not only is it disgusting but it is also not safe to even eat the noodles since the raw meat was sitting on top. I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. Thanks for the explanation, Kieth, but if the beef is 'supposed' to be cooked in hot broth, maybe actually serve it that way? After sitting in a DoorDasher's car for 20+ minutes, that broth isn't doing anything to 'cook' the meat. Also, last I checked, cooking is the restaurant's job, not mine. First of all, this place knows how to do Halloween! The decor was... well... NOT for children. But for adults it's awesome! It's a little weird to go into a very-much-BAR... and order Thai food. ‍ Honestly we weren't sure what to expect. I got the Tom Yum Soup with extra chicken, and the staff was AWESOME and special-made me a pile of grilled chicken in addition to the soup so I'd get enough protein for my restrictive diet... probably because their truck failed to deliver lettuce that morning so they weren't able to make me the steak salad (which also looked delicious). The soup was SO GOOD. Full of flavor, as was the chicken with what seemed like simple seasoning. The menu has labels for gluten free to make it easy to make allergen-conscious choices. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because hubs ordered the Pad Thai (his go-to) and spring rolls and said both were, "OK, kinda flat tasting." And I understand why everything was served in to-go containers (actually kinda smart if their portions were large enough for leftovers)... especially since it seemed they were really short-staffed for as busy as they were... but it was a little weird when we were dining in. Not a big deal at all and I think some of their other Thai dishes like the curries are probably more full of flavor. We went in a big group and ordered a few appetizers which were great. My boyfriend and I ordered the pad Thai and shared. It was easily one of the best pad Thais I have ever had in my life. I was looking for thai food and this place came up. Not knowing it was a dive bar, I walked that way and had to do a double take when I arrived. It was a strange, but glorious combination...dive bar and Asian food! I placed my food order at the bar and grabbed a drink as I was told it would be about 30 minutes. The NBA playoffs were on so I watched those and conversed with some others. There were people dining in (yes they have the sauces for pho available) but I got mine to go. The food was ready as promised and I was on my way. I had the pad thai, pad see eu, and sesame noodles. The sesame noodles were the best and heated up well the next day. Unexpectedly great late night Thai at a very divey bar in the heart of downtown Savannah

We popped in for a quick bite at opening time. It was just us and the bartender/waitress. She was very friendly and the food came out pretty quickly. My wife and I shared a frozen drink that was supposed to be green tea flavored but was kind of like a mix between green tea and peach. It was still pretty darn good. I had the duck egg rolls and we shared steamed potstickers. Both were excellent. She had teriyaki chicken with rice and I had the spicy Thai salad with grilled calamari and shrimp. It was just what I was after as it was fresh, crisp, and quite spicy. A nice blend of Romain, onions, and cilantro. I'm sure a bit of Thai Basil wouldn't have hurt but it was still pretty good. We had just arrived around ten at night and was starving. Looked up on yelp for late night food and found this spot with great reviews. I started off with an el chavo - which was great. We had the spring rolls with thai and chicken. Also the beef skewers which were cooked perfectly with a side of teriyaki sauce. For dinner I got the drunken noodles which were so delicious. Creamy from the coconut milk, wide rice noodles with carrots onions and snow peas in a Thai basil red curry. Highly recommend. My other half got the Red Curry which is a slightly spicy red curry and coconut milk with bamboo shoots, carrots, green & red bell peppers, onions, snow peas with rice. Soooo good. Both meals were super yummy!! If I lived in Savannah i would absolutely be visiting this place on a regular. read more

Had a great time here with friends. Was my first time even though I love to visit Savannah and the bars. My waitress was new but she kept it together. A little more practice and knowledge of the food and drinks and she will be rocking and rolling. Also on your menu you advertise pot stickers (which is also still a dumpling) but in actuality it was a fried wonton. And an amazingly tasting wonton at that. The chili sauce with the calamari could also go with the wonton. Fried rice is A1 don't skip over it. And the spring rolls were great as well. We recently stopped by while in Savannah. We were looking for some late night food and ended up here for a burger. We grabbed a seat at the bar and looked over the menu. We decided to go with a burger, add bacon and a fried egg. We ordered two of them. We sat and waited for a bit for the food. It seemed like it was taking a while and then we saw two togo boxes sitting at the other end of the bar. We wondered if they were ours even though we didn't order to go. After watching the bartender do a few shots, he figured out they were ours and brought them down. We were pretty hungry so we dove in.
