I really want to give this diner 2.5 stars but feel like the customer service was decent enough to warrant a full 3. We had high hopes for this diner because everything on the menu sounded delicious on paper. It all pretty much went downhill after we had to ask for our drinks at least 3 times before it was brought out. We were pretty hungry so my bf and I each started with a soup. He got chili and it was piping hot! Meanwhile, my chicken orzo was definitely lukewarm. Next came our entrees. He got a ham and cheese omelet with a side of potatoes and toast. I got the Apollo platter which includes 2 baby lamb chops, a skewer of grilled chicken, spanakopita, side salad and pita bread. Like I said, we were hungry! The bf said his omelet was mediocre and his toast never came out. My platter was super disappointing. The spanakopita looked a bit old and reheated on the griddle to the point where parts of it were burnt. The baby lamb chops were dry and oily as did the grilled chicken so I barely touched it. I've visited once before and had a great experience, but breakfast is a completely different situation. The place is PACKED, booths are cramped and it's hot. It took half an hour and finally a request for someone to take our order. I sat with an empty coffee cup for a significant amount of time and finally had to ask the manager for a refill because I could not catch the attention of my server--even though he passed by multiple times since we were seated at the counter. My husband's Monte Cristo was DRENCHED in their melba sauce and whipped cream, despite assurances from the server as we ordered at all sauce would come on the side. Took a trip to Bmore for the night and the next morning was trying to find a spot to eat and this place was suggested. The food was great. Very flavorful and nice portions for a low cost . They do stay crowded and the staff is running around busy . So you have to try to flag the staff down. That's why they lost a star. read more

I think my biggest complaint was the wait. It took about an hour for us to get our food once we ordered it. When we arrived the place was packed, but by the time we got our food, there were only 3 parties there. The food was ok, but not amazing. Pretty standard diner food. I ordered the honey feta fries, since it looked pretty unique. It was a lot tastier than I expected, but probably not something I would order on a regular basis - classic fries are always my go to. I also ordered the Meze Sampler, which came with calamari, spinach pie, gyro meat, and pita bread with tzatziki sauce. Sip & Bite is a hit-or-miss place for me. Perhaps they are hits when I go there late at night, and I get a meal better than what I'd expect at diners. I've gotten the Greek food there, and it is darn tasty. The main misses for me are they are cash-only (at least last couple of times when I went), and I've been there a couple of times when they are closed?!? A friend who was playing the role of tour guide took us here after showing us around the inner harbor area. I don't even remember what I ate(an omelet dish, I know that much), but I loved it. The service was quick and exceptionally friendly, and I remember thinking how I could eat there every day...if only... I didn't know anything about it's fame or reputation, but I'm sure it's well earned. Crab Cakes, greek Salad, Spinach pie oh my! These are all great choices to include eastern seashore which is a crab cake and egg sandwich. The mashed potatoes could use some work. They had a runny consistency which lead me to believe they were boxed. The rice pilaf was not good either. To-go containers are paper/cardboard rather than plastic which is a huge plus in my book and the plastic they do use for their bags is biodegradable (as someone who's invested in trying to be as green as they can be, this is a big deal)! Sip & Bite is a great place to go refuel after a late night around downtown Baltimore. After searching around the Inner Harbor for hours, I got on Yelp. After a quick 10 min. drive, I made it to the Canton neighborhood of B'more. As I walked toward the diner, I remembered that I'd been there previously, a year or so before. The dining room is pretty small (literally the size of those classic diner railcars), so I was directed to the bar. Expect a wait if you're in a large party on a weekend. I sat under a huge, framed & autographed poster of Guy Fieri commemorating their feature on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives. I ordered the Chili Burger. It was served in about 10 min. The burger was really good and they kept the chili thick so it wouldn't get soggy, unlike other places which are dripping messes. It definitely hit the spot after walking around hungry in the windy rain for so long. The server was also nice as expected from a diner. Ordered the crab cake sandwich, it was a little smaller than I imagined it would be after seeing the Diners and Dives... but the flavor was excellent and the quality of the crab was fresh, light flaky bread role. Been here quite a few times, and it's always good for a late night meal. One of the only places open late in Baltimore that offers real food. Very extensive menu - anyone can find something they like here. Good Greek menu, has all the traditional Greek diner foods. Very good gyros - I have tried the lamb, shrimp, and chicken. Lamb was by far the best, but that is not a surprise. Recently went and got chicken and waffles. BOMB. My first chicken and waffles experience and I am now a certified fan. There's a reason why this place has been going strong, 24-hours a day, pretty much forever. It isn't fancy, innovative or trendy, but it is honest, comfortable and as "Baltimore" as it can possibly be (in the old-school, big hair, Memorial Stadium, pre-Cindy Wolfe way). There's just something satisfying about sitting at the counter on a Saturday morning, listening to the regulars banter with the waitstaff, and watching the action behind the grill as I wait for my strawberry pancakes and bacon. The food is basic, but consistent. If you're not in a strawberry-pancakes kind of mood, the garden omelet is also pretty tasty. What do you make of a restaurant that you've eaten at regularly for years, one that when you've been seated, ordered, and are awaiting your food, you run to the bathroom, and when you return to what was once your seat, another diner is seated in your place, so that when you get back, you have nowhere to sit to eat your $86 of food?  Outside of wholly inadequate in terms of service, or grossly unappreciative of regular business? Maybe short-sighted in whom they snub? In any event, I used to eat at this restaurant almost every single day. I used to sing its praises. I used to bring all of my friends. I used to line the coffers of the jukebox for the brief stint during which it was installed. I used to make it a point to support this business. I don't know how, but evidently, somehow, an elderly, portly waitress, perhaps, a few years past her prime, thought it was a good idea to seat another customer on a bar stool that clearly had before it four different full plates of food... My plates of food that I paid for... Clearly somebody wasn't thinking it forward. But this wasn't a situation where somebody inadequately calculated a rhetorical slip-up, no, this wasn't an honest mistake, this was a deliberate act of malice.  The waitress who seated the woman in my stead both knew me and my things, and was adamant about teaching me a lesson, using presumably one of their oldest and most consistent diners, to embarrass in the densely crowded restaurant. I was made an example, and needlessly so. After years of supporting this establishment and tipping even this particular waitress generously, I think it's best I take my business anywhere else. I feel most unwelcome at this establishment. No matter what way you spin it, it is impossible for me not to feel slighted and insulted, like there is no place for me at the sip & bite. if you don't want your seat taken away from you either, don't dine there. read more
