This is a good family restaurant, good food reasonable prices. I go with my parents and with my own family and kids

I have often wished that there was a New York style diner here in Glendora where the food was good and the service great and the price reasonable--kind of like the place the gang from Seinfeld frequented. I guess the Silver Spoon was so obviously similar that I just didn't see it, because I have been here before and never really realized how great it is. Actually, I think the main reason is that I typically go in to this place when I am visiting someone at the hospital across the street, and so I am perhaps in a somber mood when I am there. But I went in there today after I had a doctor's visit nearby and I spent some time looking around. Some observations: This place is meticulously clean. No grease or grime on the ketchup bottle or salt and pepper shakers. The table and booths are perfectly clean--the place was cleaner than the medical offices I had just visited. Everything is meticulously maintained. The service is prompt. My omelette arrived five minutes after I ordered it. The menu is expansive--they have just about everything you could possibly want in diner-type food. Normally I don't like diner coffee because it is too weak; the coffee here is really good and strong. The food itself has always been great on the half dozen or so visits I've had here. I recall their sirloin steak is fantastic and a bargain at the price. Today I had a cheese, avacado, bacon, tomato omelette with hash browns and sourdough--for ten bucks. It was was as good as it gets. The waitresses are always there for you when you need them, and otherwise they just come by to top off your coffee. They are really nice and unobtrusive. I texted by daughter while I was there and I told her we needed to start making Silver Spoon our default place when we just need something fast, good, and reliable. This place is a real Glendora treasure and I am resolved to eat here more often, even when I don't have business at the nearby medical facilites. read more

It was raining on a Monday and I headed to the place next door to eat but it was closed. My friend and I saw people walking into the Silver Spoon not knowing what it was. Walking in this place seemed like a quiet dinner similar to the that of Denny's or Norms but I was completely off. Sitting down at the front counter we were given time to choose what we wanted. Our waitress came and helped us with picking out a lunch and was super helpful in making the choice and did so much for us, going above and beyond with her service. If you ever are in the area and want excellent service and well-prepared food this is the place to come to. read more

I actually live in Korea, but I came to America for a quick vacay, and I was craving some good ol' American breakfast. I Yelped a couple places, and Silver Spoon popped up... and I'm glad it did. It was exactly what I had been craving. I was helped as soon as I walked in. The waitress I had was extremely helpful, and she even made some suggestions to help me decide. I decided to go with the 1, 2, 3 (1 egg, 2 bacon strips, and 3 pancakes). It was incredibly delicious. My 1 sunny-side-up-egg was perfectly sunny, my 2 bacon strips were perfectly crispy, and my 3 pancakes were perfectly fluffy. I also ordered a side of biscuits and gravy. It was heavenly. The biscuits melted in my mouth, and the gravy was quite flavorful. As for the service... like the food, I was not disappointed. The servers saw to it that my delectable hot coffee never saw the bottom of the cup. The coffee was consistently fresh, which is something I really appreciate. This little place that's hidden in a mini mall is one of those hidden gems. One Saturday morning we were going to our usual breakfast spot, when we saw the people waiting the in parking lot. No, thank you, I'm hungry now. My dad mentioned he knew this really great place and made an abrupt turn onto Grand. When he pulled in front of this place I thought "oh no no no, I wanted a good breakfast. I was looking forward to a delicious breakfast." (Yes, it is one of those places that senior citizen tend to dine at, but that doesn't really affect my opinion of a place). Walking in I was a bit confused, it looked more like a Chinese restaurant (given the name) and the koi fish pond up front. The menu is American breakfast (omelets, skillets, pancakes, etc.) I ended up order the skillet (I'd seen it on a nearby table and it looked decent). Hands down one of the best skillets I've had in years. Anyone remember those Bakers Square ones? These are just as good. My pancakes were delicious (I had a hard time deciding what I wanted). Checked this place out for the first time today. Upon entering I waited to be acknowledged by the hostess/cashier. There were a 5 parties closing their checks, so she was unable to acknowledge me until she was completely done closing everyone out. After she was done, she proceeds to seat us in one of the many empty tables. Our drink and food order was taken soon after, but then that's where time stood still. We got side tracked talking and when we checked the time we had been sitting with no food for 45 minutes. Unfortunately, we were on a time crunch and had to leave with no food. You always feel welcome when you come here! The staff have all been here for years and they treat you like family when you walk in the door. I have found the place to be always clean and the food dependable. You know you'll get fresh cooked and they will fix almost any special order you ask for. Daily they make homemade soups and the soups are always delicious. As far as ambience is concerned it has a diner type feel, without pretension. It feels like a fifties/sixties diner. I have eaten at this restaurant for years NEVER AGAIN! A group of 32 attended lunch yesterday. Our waitress was fantastic but this man came at the end of the meal. He yelled at the waitress about the tickets and trying to take over collecting tickets and money. He made it more confusing and stressing everyone out. I found out he was the new owner. I spoke to him and he wouldn't listen. I told him he was the rudest, meanest owner I had ever run into. Many of our people also complained to him and he kept spouting off about all these tickets HE was stuck dealing with. We all told him we would never return to this place again. He is an awful person! So I stopped here had some coffee and breakfast, everything seemed to be going fine and everyone appeared to be nice at first, then I'm guessing it was the owner that came out and after asking how the food was, leaned over and whispered to me: "eat slower...ok?".....ummmmmm fu** you ahole. So we left my buddies house the day after going to the dodgers game two vs the Braves and saw that there was a broken yolk off the 210 freeway. Went there and the line was wayyyy too long so looked up other breakfast places nearby and went here. Walked in a guy greeted us with smiles. Place was big and was about half full. Went in on Father's day and it wasn't very crowded. It took FOREVER to get our food! It wasn't even that busy. I'd say at least 30 minutes which is unacceptable for breakfast! My sister in law and I had just left the doctors and stopped there to have an ice tea and a quick conversation about my back issue the place was empty the waitress was very nice. After 10 mins A man who we later found out was the owner came up and started yelling that this is not a coffee shop it is a restaurant and we need to order food He was extremely rude we will never go in to that diner again. What the owner did not realize is my sister in law had gone in there many times before with other medical staff employees to eat she also has purchased platters of food for workshops she has taught for students and doctors this owner by being so rude had no idea how much business he Just lost by forcing us to leave so sad and disappointing a person would act so ugly. read more

This place is about as bad as it gets. The service is hostile and the price paid for a slice of bread is $2.00 and veg beef soup is $5.00. The soup is cold with microscopic beef and mostly onions for veggies. I had to ask for silverware, napkin, water, and crackers. The owner is clueless. When I complained, he asked me what minimum wage was as the server got hostile with me. He never said sorry or offered to reduce the $2.00 bread. Wow, this place will be out of business soon. So I've never had a meal I didn't like from this place. (I've had many, many meals here) My family enjoys this spot and I'm only bummed that during covid indoor dining isn't available right now. Coming here gives me a comforting feeling because of the amount of meals I've shared with family and friends in this restaurant. They have generous portions that are well worth the price. I appreciate the owners who are hands on in providing great service. They care about their diners just as much if not more than the previous owners but with Covid, they're giving extra attention to making the dining experience as pleasant as possible. Are you hungry? I just has their Supreme Burrito, wet and I will say come with an appetite or 2 people, this burrito is large and fill with everything. It also comes with a bowl of fruit that is ripe and not hard. I came back a couple of weeks ago when the owners put "free" soup back for lunch, which is great for us Senior Citizens and their menu is awesome, thanks again. This place is great. First, you are greeted at the door with a huge welcome and giant smile and taken to your table. Then the waitress is even friendlier and comes by and takes your order. I would go back to Silver Spoon just for the customer service. Anyway, the food was excellent. They actually cook their own turkey so when you get a turkey sandwich it is real turkey and not processed. Then the homemade zucchini bread was just a cherry on the top. As we were leaving we had the door opened for us with a big thank you. Every restaurant should take a lesson from the customer service here. read more

Get order home and.....GUESS WHAT....my freaking skillet is on COUNTRY POTATOES. I DO NOT EAT onions OR peppers, hence....ordered HASHBROWNS!!!!!! So here I am, eating nothing but TOAST, being SUPER pissed off, KNOWING damn well that if I want my order FIXED, I have to WASTE more of MY time and possibly risk getting a side of SPIT in my food for complaining! This place is good. Only tried their breakfast a couple times but everything we ate was executed so well. The service is good. The fruit is fresh, the breakfast burritos is stuffed and flavorful and their salsa is amazingly good. Best huevos rancheros I've had. The rice and the beans were delicious. I moved into the area a couple of months ago and this place always catches my eye. Today I went in with my son and the verdict is amazing! Our waitress, Marsha, was nothing short of superb. She was sweet and didn't mind all of my questions, she seemed quite happy to answer them. My son ordered the burger wrap with fries, great size portion! I ordered the fish and chips with salad instead of fries. The side salad had beets, yum and my plate came with the most amazing cooked carrots. I forgot how much I liked those. They also give you the choice of garlic bread or zucchini bread, the zucchini is awesome. All in all it is a great little place and I definitely will be back! - Thanks Marsha. read more
