Roady's a classic American diner in downtown San Dimas, a local favorite, family owned, has a great review by the Los Angeles Times for their hearty biscuits and gravy breakfast which is served all day. However, I stopped in for an early supper I ordered the chicken fried steak dinner served with choice of soup or salad, mashed potatoes with country gravy, mixed vegetables, and a medium sized piece of steak. The steak was tender and could be cut with my fork, the meatball soup was house made and very flavorful, the mashed potatoes were buttery and fluffy. The country gravy was flavorful and complemented both the meat and steak well. All said a great meal and a great value $14.95. Beer and wine is available but I ordered coffee and they brewed a fresh pot for me. As I walked in I was warmly welcomed and the overall service was impeccable. If you are in San Dimas I encourage you to stop in for a meal. The restaurant is open daily from 7am to 7pm. read more

Easily my favorite diner in the San Dimas area. It's a traditional American diner right in the heart of downtown San Dimas on what looks like good old-fashioned Main Street America. Parking in this area is extremely easy, there is a parking lot in the rear, but we were able to find a free space right out front. Inside is also very large with many different seating areas and seating options. Our waitress was extremely polite and everything that we ordered came out fast and at a fair price. The menu is really large and filled with all sorts of great American diner classics. I had heard so much about their Country Fried Steak and overheard many other diners ordering it before me so that's what I chose for my breakfast and I was extremely satisfied with it. It was a large cut of meat and it had great flavor. The eggs were also cooked perfectly and I really enjoyed them. I got a biscuit on the side, which was pretty small, but the flavor was really nice, I just wish it was larger in size. Overall I would suggest to any diner fan in the area. read more

This was a cute little diner. I was in town visiting family and we stopped in for lunch. I wish I would have gotten the waitresses name, because she was such a doll. Every time I'm in the lovely town of San Dimas I visit Roadies for breakfast. This place is an all American old-time diner nestled in Old Town San Dimas. If your a regular the staff knows your name, where you like to sit, and your usual order. The décor is consistent with the old town road motif much like the outside city. Very classic American diner look with the wooden booths, and dinette sets in the very front resembling a step back into time specifically the vintage 50s. For us younger folks, the type of menu Roadies has would be considered outdated due to the very simple things they have like regular old-fashioned coffee, hot chocolate, and simple juices, and very simple food choices. No you wont find any lattes or grand slams here lol. However that's what makes Roadies such a gem to visit. read more

I have been coming to Roady's since I was a little girl! I was telling my boyfriend who I brought here that I used to come here every Sunday after church with my whole family and the restaurant would be packed. I haven't been back here on a weekend, but I try to come here and there during the weekdays and as expected, it's not as busy as the weekends. I was really happy to see Beverly who is one of their long time servers. I've known her ever since I was a little girl and now I'm in my 20s so you could only imagine how long she's been serving for Roady's. Her customer service is always top tier and it's always great to see her. I've only been here for breakfast and I honestly love their food! It's made with love and their breakfast is so delicious! I know they are open until 7pm but ive never had them for lunch or dinner, but ive always just known Roady's as a breakfast spot. I will say that the restaurant is a little run down, but it's honestly one of those spots where it's okay to see the torn up booths and mismatched chairs. It's nostalgic to see the place the same way it was since I was kid, but it would also be cool to see a remodel! read more

It is a neat little place in downtown San Dimas. I got the pork chops which weren't bad, but over cooked. I could only eat the one of the two. My daughter was happy with the lumberjack breakfast, but getting hashbrowns well done, crispy, wasn't happening even after sending back. My wife's pancakes were good. I like the feel of the place, prices are good, but understaffed with the two or three waitresses for a Sunday. If had another couple of tables going it would have been horrible. I got one refill on tea, and my wife on coffee too. Plus no vanilla creamer. Only place I've encountered like that in sometime. When giving me those little restaurant cups I'm gonna drink a half dozen, and that is a complete show stopper for me. My adult daughter only wanted water, and they gave her a little glass like that for kids or a small juice like getting water was bad and this should act as a deterant. They need to hire staff that maybe doubles as cleanup and drinks like most other places now. The decor is pretty consistent with Old town's history giving a 1950's-60's appearance and vibe. I arrived on a Saturday morning as a first time customer, and sat at the bar. Their paper menu has most of the basic breakfast and lunch American cuisine. I ordered their classic French Toasts with strawberries, OJ and coffee. Their FT was banal in flavor and taste. (Syrup and butter available upon request! My goodness!) Reg Coffee was okay. Server forgot to give my OJ; thus, I cannot comment on its quality. Roady's very spacious with huge indoor seats as well as their front street patio. Prices seem fair for the area. Service was on point but tend to forget your drink order. I wanted to see if she'd remembers but did not. I abhor that. But I'm glad she remembered not to charge me on my bill. No tip was rendered. Overall, it's an old town's diner with a hit or miss service. I'm reticent to recommend this diner spot. read more

I forget how much I like this place. It's got that old fashion roadside diner vibe that I like and the food was great. We sat at the counter, which is kind of cool like you're at a truckstop or something. I ordered the wagon wheel sandwich, which is turkey cheese and tomato on grilled sourdough. It was delicious. Food-wise, Roady's is the epitome of okay. I think what lends this place its charm is its location, history, and customer service. I imagine a lot of the staff has been here for at least five years and maybe closer to ten for some of them. Multiple times, they asked if I was okay during my visit. The food itself was nothing to be exuberant about, but the eggs did remind me of the way my grandma would cook them when we lived in LA. There's a nostalgia in the taste and texture of the eggs, and the only thing missing was a fork for me to cook a hot dog over the open flame of the stove. The lady brought out my check immediately after my food was brought over which was probably a nuance of how they do stuff. The biscuit and gravy tasted a little funky, and the gravy itself was cool and not hot. I think you might be better off with toast and jam. I appreciate seeing a lot of people here. I think they're regulars in the area and a lot of senior citizens. I was going off memory and trying to make my way to Rail Side cafe and ended up staying here and trying it out. Sometimes you just want a good ole fashion American breakfast and that's exactly what I got at Roady's. I brunched here on a Sunday - it was busy, but not unbearable for a brunch crowd. I ordered the Country Breakfast ($12.45) which comes with 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon or 2 sausage links, hash browns, biscuit and country gravy. My breakfast was very standard, however the biscuit and country gravy were phenomenal. Creamy gravy was ladled over the light and fluffy biscuit. This alone warrants going out for something you could normally whip up yourself. Don't be fooled by the small dining area in front - there's is a thickly carpeted dining room toward the back of the restaurant that has plenty of seating. Well it's been awhile since I have been here. Not sure what happened. The last time we were here the food was outstanding. This time, not so good. My wife had an all American sandwich. It was very dry and the meat seemed like it was processed. The only thing good was the side salad. I had a patty melt with grilled onions. It was also very dry. It had no sauce in the sandwich. The potato salad did have good flavor. The service was good. The inside decorations could be updated. I love having Roady's just down the street. Anton and his team are the kind of people who make you feel at home the second you walk in. They're genuinely kind, attentive, and proud of what they do. The other day it was cold, I was tired, and I needed something cozy but filling (not quite soup-weather for me) so I stopped in for a beef dip. I grew up in an East L.A. family, so I've eaten my fair share at Philippe's and my standards are high. Roady's totally delivered. Soft bread, tender meat that practically melted in my mouth, and au jus that was exactly right. My wife and i have been coming here for approximately 13 years now since the sidewalks were still wooden! People are saying "it's all old fashioned comfort food and if you want to come home, eat at Roady's!." Great friendly staff, I think Beverly has a pocket full of lollipops, attentive and fast service. There's plenty of tables close to the front, more tables in the back, a long counter by the front if you feel like dining alone on a stool or a drink. They also have outside seating if you have a dog or a goat or if you want to enjoy the outside old Town traffic. Parking can be a challenge at the back, but you can also park on the streets. The food is nothing special to talk about, simple but delicious, awesome sandwiches, steaks, waffles and pancakes. No special sauces or ingredients to spoil the taste of old times recipes, family dishes I should say. While you wait for your food prepared, you tend to look at the wood panels all over with native American decor on the walls which brings you back to history. I had the usual Denver Omelet with added mushrooms and biscuits w/ hot gravy and their special sauce on the side. The hash browns tasted a little stale, like it was shredded yesterday, IDK. No biggie though! Orange juice and my coffee cup were always to the brim, thanks, Beverly! When you get waffles or pancakes, ask for extra crispy, it's really better I think. My wife likes it that way and she talks about them all day, it's that good! It can get expensive but where else can you get service like this, not rushed, get fast service with awesome smiles and they remember you if you're regular!
