I had a good experience at Rail Side Cafe (San Dimas). I ordered the Nitro Cold Brew ($9 - Large - 24oz). It's HUGE! It's a functional, no-nonsense coffee. The coffee tastes like a clean, bitter, cold brew with a foamy top. (Important: Bring Cash. There's a 4% Cash Discount.) I arrived at Rail Side Cafe (San Dimas) on Thursday (around 12:13PM). Parking is simple but busy. There's a side lot for customers; sign says, "2 Hour Parking." Staff is courteous, no-nonsense, and diligent. Staff worked hard. Staff quickly answered all my questions. My coffee took about three minutes. Good time. As mentioned, I ordered the Nitro Cold Brew ($9 - Large - 24oz). The coffee is very standard. It tastes exactly like any imagined cold brew coffee. Personally, the roast tasted a little burnt, but it's a common, familiar coffee flavor. The strength was weak for a nitro, but the HUGE SIZE and affordability balances it all out. This is a functional, budget drink. On ambiance, Rail Side Cafe (San Dimas) is a HUGE success. There's a lot of utility. The location has a self-serve water station, public internet with no password, stacked high chairs for children, two game corners (ex: Chess, Giant Connect 4, Giant Jenga, Uno Cards, Etc), and about one available electrical outlet. I also appreciated the retro, upbeat music and 1930s movie decor. In addition, Rail Side Cafe (San Dimas) has plenty of seating. There's about four interior tables, but there's also 16 outside patio tables. The location is clean, well-maintained, and well ventilated. Overall, Rail Side Cafe (San Dimas) is a good, local neighborhood spot. It offers affordable choice that are prepared "good enough." I wouldn't drive a long distance for this spot, but it's a decent option if you're already nearby. 4.5 out of 5 read more

This place gets very busy! I tried to come on the weekend with my family and found no luck with parking, so I had to raincheck it for another day... which was today. If you plan on visiting, I definitely recommend taking a peek at their large menu online before you get there so you have an idea of what you want. They have a huge patio area with fun games to play for the entire family, which is a great touch. The inside is a bit small with only a few tables and a little area to order, but the outdoor space really makes up for it. The staff was amazing in guiding my family and me toward the best food options for what we were craving. I ended up ordering the B.T.S.A. sandwich, which was a lovely combination of toasted bread, mayo, avocado, spinach, bacon, and tomato. It was a well-balanced comfort meal that really filled me up. For the side, I chose the cucumber over the fruit and sprinkled a little salt on top, making it a perfect pairing. I enjoyed the whole meal with an iced tea and really look forward to trying it again. I would love to come back on the weekend if I can manage to find a parking spot! read more

This morning ended up being the perfect time to visit because it wasn't too crowded and there was plenty of outdoor seating, which made it feel really peaceful. Since it was our first time there, we weren't sure what to order. The service was great and my friend and I ended up ordering two sandwiches that were recommended to us. We ordered the B.T.S.A Panini with a side of cucumbers and the Turkey Caprese Panini. Both were really good. The employees were super nice and checked on us multiple times to make sure we were doing okay and if we needed anything. Honestly this place probably doesn't deserve a 1 star but the 4.6 it has is deceiving. The coffee is dark roast and probably the worst iced coffee I've had. The portions are really small for the price. The gravy doesn't taste good and has no sausage chunks (they're too cheap) and my Belgian waffle felt like European portion size. My waffle order didn't even come with eggs! Just waffle and sausage for $15. Would not recommend this place. Service is fine and ambiance is nice. read more

So this is an update to my previous review.. they have added a LOT of things to the menu now. The day I came, it was so packed, it was at least 30 min until we could get our food. Maybe if there more ways to order, it would be faster since now we have to order with the one cashier, who also needs to take in phone calls. I think they do have online option, so I may have to do that next time if I don't want to wait. I still like the outside seating, as they play really chill music, and now there is even a small play area for kids either a giant connect 4. The ordered the London Bagel and the Belgium Waffles this time. Note that if you want pretzels you need to add $1. The prices did go up from before but it is expected, and like I said I do like that they have other options. I wished that the bacon that came with the waffles were bigger, they were on the smaller side. I do like that the owner or the owners mom goes around to ask how the guests are doing. It makes the experience that much more special and the want to continue to support the business. Looking forward to try some of the new food next time. Until then ! read more

Meeting a girlfriend for brunch. This is a cute place. Seating is mainly outside with a few small tables indoors. Perfect day to be outdoors but I love that there are umbrellas for good shading on sunny days. You order first and then food is brought out to your table. Servers are friendly. The food was good but the portion was smaller than expected for the price we paid. I wished my croissant came with something more substantial than a small cup of fruits. Our whole family loves coming here. The food is great. The drinks are delicious and the owners are wonderful. They have an outdoor patio that's like sitting at a French café somewhere in a beautiful land landscape of England. All the staff are personable and genuine. It's run by a mother and her son and having conversations with them is always fun. The food is delicious. They have a wide variety of breakfast and lunch options and have no issues with substitutions on any of their menu items. If you want a really chill vibe with great energy, delicious food and yummy handcrafted coffee, and lemonades. This is the spot. Unfortunately, my experience at Rail Side Cafe was really disappointing. I ordered an iced horchata coffee that was extremely sweet to the point that I genuinely could not drink it. I returned to the counter politely asking if they could remake it with less sugar or no sugar at all, since the original drink was basically undrinkable for me. What made the situation even more frustrating was that they threw away my drink during the interaction without first informing me that I would have to pay again for a replacement. Had I known that beforehand, I would have kept the drink instead of being left with nothing at all. Instead of trying to resolve the issue or offer any customer service, I was told that remaking the drink would be a 'loss' because they had already used the product, so I would need to purchase another one. I completely understand businesses have costs, but the way this was handled left me feeling dismissed and honestly robbed. I walked out with no drink, no refund, and a very disappointing experience over what could have been a simple fix. What's more insane in my opinion is that I believe the person who did all this was the owner herself from seeing pictures online I've come to that conclusion. I'm sorry you feel your money investment is more important than the investment a customer makes with each purchase. read more

I don't need a friend and she did her job. I would normally excuse this but the man taking our order was so rude for no reason lmao. No table service (other than delivery of food), no cutlery (pick up plastic forks by the door), salt&pepper only in little paper pkgs (also by the door), refills on drinks for 50 cents. Rail side is a cute little cafe in San Dimas with good service and great vibes. The food is disappointing, especially if you're used to seasoning or even just salt and pepper. Despite the food the coffee drinks are pretty good. Food: The egg whites, cheese and spinach crossaint was pretty sad and flavorless. I'm tempted to say they don't season their food. 2/5 My sister and mother ordered one of the other breakfast croissants and has the same complaints. All three crossaint sandwiches were accompanied with the "hashbrowns" AKA a oily Trader Joe's Hashbrown patty LOL. Sorry but I wouldn't eat here ever again. Not to mention the salsa was overly spicy and flavorless. Drinks: I think the drinks were the best part of the meal. The chai latte was well balanced and not overly sweet 5/5. The latte was also delicious 5/5. The orange juice was nasty and watery. 1/5 The service is excellent and the staff cares enough to check up on you time to time which is a nice touch. Super cool spot, it is pretty small inside so I'd assume they get packed during the early times of the day. We went an hour before closing, staff was so kind and food was delicious. 1st time here on a family date after viewing on Yelp. This location is on a main street with newly renovated and built businesses. Plenty of parking on street and behind businesses. This is a very small quaint establishment with very little seating inside but lots of outdoor seating. On arrival you place your order, given a number to place on open table of your choice and wait for food to arrive. When finished you bring your trash/dishes to a bin on a cart.
