I had a good experience at Rail Side Cafe (San Dimas). I ordered the Nitro Cold Brew ($9 - Large - 24oz). It's HUGE! It's a functional, no-nonsense coffee. The coffee tastes like a clean, bitter, cold brew with a foamy top. (Important: Bring Cash. There's a 4% Cash Discount.) I arrived at Rail Side Cafe (San Dimas) on Thursday (around 12:13PM). Parking is simple but busy. There's a side lot for customers; sign says, "2 Hour Parking." Staff is courteous, no-nonsense, and diligent. Staff worked hard. Staff quickly answered all my questions. My coffee took about three minutes. Good time. As mentioned, I ordered the Nitro Cold Brew ($9 - Large - 24oz). The coffee is very standard. It tastes exactly like any imagined cold brew coffee. Personally, the roast tasted a little burnt, but it's a common, familiar coffee flavor. The strength was weak for a nitro, but the HUGE SIZE and affordability balances it all out. This is a functional, budget drink. On ambiance, Rail Side Cafe (San Dimas) is a HUGE success. There's a lot of utility. The location has a self-serve water station, public internet with no password, stacked high chairs for children, two game corners (ex: Chess, Giant Connect 4, Giant Jenga, Uno Cards, Etc), and about one available electrical outlet. I also appreciated the retro, upbeat music and 1930s movie decor. In addition, Rail Side Cafe (San Dimas) has plenty of seating. There's about four interior tables, but there's also 16 outside patio tables. The location is clean, well-maintained, and well ventilated. Overall, Rail Side Cafe (San Dimas) is a good, local neighborhood spot. It offers affordable choice that are prepared "good enough." I wouldn't drive a long distance for this spot, but it's a decent option if you're already nearby. 4.5 out of 5 read more

I really enjoyed a recent visit to this cute railroad-themed cafe. It is located close to the Metrolink Train Station and offers an "Early Commuter" coffee and muffin for $5.99. The decor sets the stage with a cozy and comfy feeling. This is a family-friendly place to hang out. Several board games and books are stored on a rack and free to enjoy during your visit. You cannot miss the colorful and bright yellow umbrellas in their patio. Indoor seating for approximately 30 guests is available, all seating is on a first-come basis. So this is an update to my previous review.. they have added a LOT of things to the menu now. The day I came, it was so packed, it was at least 30 min until we could get our food. Maybe if there more ways to order, it would be faster since now we have to order with the one cashier, who also needs to take in phone calls. I think they do have online option, so I may have to do that next time if I don't want to wait. I still like the outside seating, as they play really chill music, and now there is even a small play area for kids either a giant connect 4. The ordered the London Bagel and the Belgium Waffles this time. Note that if you want pretzels you need to add $1. The prices did go up from before but it is expected, and like I said I do like that they have other options. I wished that the bacon that came with the waffles were bigger, they were on the smaller side. I do like that the owner or the owners mom goes around to ask how the guests are doing. This place gets very busy! I tried to come on the weekend with my family and found no luck with parking, so I had to raincheck it for another day... which was today. If you plan on visiting, I definitely recommend taking a peek at their large menu online before you get there so you have an idea of what you want. They have a huge patio area with fun games to play for the entire family, which is a great touch. The inside is a bit small with only a few tables and a little area to order, but the outdoor space really makes up for it. The staff was amazing in guiding my family and me toward the best food options for what we were craving. I ended up ordering the B.T.S.A. sandwich, which was a lovely combination of toasted bread, mayo, avocado, spinach, bacon, and tomato. It was a well-balanced comfort meal that really filled me up. For the side, I chose the cucumber over the fruit and sprinkled a little salt on top, making it a perfect pairing. I feel like the pictures are quite deceptive. For the prices we were expecting more flavor and quantity. The portions are tiny! A toddler wouldn't be full with the size of the avocado toast for the cost, I would expect a thick slice of homemade sourdough not a flimsy slice of daves killer bread from Costco. I can do that myself at home. The sides of fruit are minuscule, literally the tiniest container you would put ketchup in, that's your side of fruit. I did really enjoy the Protein Bowl, it was delicious and good portion. I always appreciate when cafes have a protein option. The coffee is ok but don't expect the beautiful latte art you see in the photos even if you dine in. The employee working the register was not very welcoming and got my order wrong. They don't check on you and ask if you need anything and almost seemed bothered we were there and wanted us to leave. The inside is super cramped and smells like burnt toast. The only plus is the cute patio with plenty of seating and cute toys for the kids to play. For what you spend you are better off going to a sit down restaurant where you will be served. read more

The girl in the front welcomed us with silence and a airpod in her ear. She misheard me multiple times.... I wonder why. The portions are really small for the price. The gravy doesn't taste good and has no sausage chunks (they're too cheap) and my Belgian waffle felt like European portion size. Since it was our first time there, we weren't sure what to order. The service was great and my friend and I ended up ordering two sandwiches that were recommended to us. We ordered the B.T.S.A Panini with a side of cucumbers and the Turkey Caprese Panini. Both were really good. Unfortunately, my experience at Rail Side Cafe was really disappointing. I ordered an iced horchata coffee that was extremely sweet to the point that I genuinely could not drink it. I returned to the counter politely asking if they could remake it with less sugar or no sugar at all, since the original drink was basically undrinkable for me. What made the situation even more frustrating was that they threw away my drink during the interaction without first informing me that I would have to pay again for a replacement. Had I known that beforehand, I would have kept the drink instead of being left with nothing at all. Instead of trying to resolve the issue or offer any customer service, I was told that remaking the drink would be a 'loss' because they had already used the product, so I would need to purchase another one. I completely understand businesses have costs, but the way this was handled left me feeling dismissed and honestly robbed. I walked out with no drink, no refund, and a very disappointing experience over what could have been a simple fix. What's more insane in my opinion is that I believe the person who did all this was the owner herself from seeing pictures online I've come to that conclusion.
