This place was a misfit to me. I didn't feel it at all. It is pretty busy, however, so maybe not everyone agrees with me. It's an old school diner feel, complete with juke boxes at the tables. The menu, however, is not classic diner fare and is instead created by a chef with lots of organic/local farm items. With the chef menu comes higher prices than expected from a diner. The decor and wait staff attire is nothing fancy, though. While we were eating breakfast I saw 3 people in pajamas! Overall the food was ok but not really what I wanted for breakfast. I got eggs Benedict with fries. I wanted hash browns instead of fries, but they didn't have that. For my taste it had too much Hollandaise sauce, too thin of an English muffin, and would have been better without the tomato. We wanted huevos rancheros but the menu picture of the dish didn't look authentic. So we didn't even venture to try their version. The Bloody Mary wasn't mixed well and the alcohol was at the top. We usually eat at the silver diner in Springfield. My son who was meeting me at the Reston location, ordered the burger he usually gets in Springfield. It was not cooked all the way thru, it was actually cold on one side inside.Our server did check up on us, and the edge that my son started on at that time was cooked properly. Because the server was busy with a customer who was trying to get the deal for food on her phone, and she really wanted that deal but needed the right code, we sat while it was time to depart for me for other reasons. I got up myself to get the bill and the server had gotten so behind by then, I spoke with the manager. The restaurant was NOT BUSY! But yes at 5pm different parties will come in for dinner. Thats dinner hour. You need to be on the ball at that time, but don't rush cooking food. and eggs will cook faster than hamburger so timing is important if you want business. read more

First time ordering, but lots of issues. My omelet was good, they remembered no mushrooms so yay. But, they put the butter and english muffin on top then sealed the container. So instead of crispy muffin I got a soggy steamed english muffin with fully melted butter in the container. That's a minus. Also I was supposed to get fruit as my side. Not home fries. Normally I would shrug it off but I paid a up fee to get the fruit. I tried to call but no one picked up. Big minus. Took too bites of the muffin. Couldn't eat it. My husband and I went there yesterday for lunch. I ordered the tuna melt and my husband ordered a hamburger. His was cold and over cooked and mine was weird. You know by definition a tuna melt is an open faced sandwich. I took one bite and all I got was bread. I tried to fix it by taking off one slice of the bread but that was where the cheese was. It took us an hour to get our lunch. Mine was inedible his was over cooked and dry. Cold French fries need I say more? I was there for the first time in 10 years. Went for brunch . Wait to be seated was fine for a Sunday. We waited for service for a time. There no refills of coffee or ice tea offered. 3 if the 6 meals were served after 10 minutes. The 2 American Favorites did not show up. And when they did they were wrong. Biscuits instead of toast wrong meat. Cute and healthy diner! Came by for a second lunch (lol) and to play scrabble with my boyfriend after some shopping at the Trader Joe's near by. Great healthy choices and gluten free options! I got a veggie burger made to order with a side salad and my boyfriend got their meatball sub. They also serve beer and wine and do pairings with food. Our server was great and very hospitable. A clean retro diner with jukeboxes at each booth. Excellent fish and chips! The chips had bay seasoning and were hot and not so crispy they were dry. The fish was nicely breaded and fried without oily aftertaste. Malt vinegar was offered but I had the tasty tartar sauce. I enjoyed the slaw, as well. Roasted corn was added to the cabbage slaw. File this under whoops, I've been to this particular location several times since it first opened and I'm now reviewing it. I have to say I was impressed, the menu changed since my last visit to any Silver Diner establishment but the menu still has a good mix of various items from more traditional diner fare like burgers, breakfast, and shakes, to a focus on healthier options as well. My husband and I came for a late dinner he got some sort of breakfast platter and I got the BLT. The portions were quite hearty, I only finished half of my meal and it still tasted great the next day. My hungry hubby finished his breakfast platter and it did look tasty. The service was terrific, our server was attentive and stopped by a few times to make sure we were doing ok. Another plus about this location its easy to get in/out of. Its right off Barron Cameron Ave, in front of Trader Joes, word to the wise if shopping at Trader Joes don't park in the Silver Diner Marked spaces. As others have mentioned I think this is one of the better locations overall from food, to service. read more

This is probably the best Silver Diner I have been to, but it still gets the usual 3 star rating. The food is probably the best tasting I have had of the ones I have been too, as was the service, but the prices are also probably one of the highest as well. I got a Belgian Waffle and eggs, with meat, and a fruit cup with an orange juice. It all came to a pretty expensive amount... for breakfast. Maybe next time I should avoid the fruit cup and juice and just stick with water. The location is also a bit tricky to find if you are not careful. Honestly the service was amazing I loved it. Harry was our server and he was very attentive, brought out everything we needed in a quick manner. I would like to give this experience a 3.5 but can't due to googles star rating. The only reason my rating is on a lower scale is because I didn't enjoy my food as much. There were three of us coming to have dinner and were greeted by Olivia at the welcoming area who made us feel right at home. The worst restaurant in Reston. We recently stopped in to give them another try, and the food was terrible. The service wasn't much better. Who the heck thinks that it is ok to charge extra for syrup when you order pancakes? $1.99 for syrup. I would laugh if it wasn't completely ridiculous. But it gets better. Okay. So I keep hoping every time I go back to Silver Diner it'll be better. However, this time I saw how these other terrible Yelp reviews came to be. We were seated in a booth immediately, but were only given 2 menus for 3 people. I'm not really sure how that happened because we were all seated at the same time. As I opened the menu, I noticed the prices were exorbitant. $1.49 for maple syrup? Really? And $14 for a pretty average burger I can get cheaper at the Breeze or Glory Days? Then it took another 30 minutes for our waitress to even take our order, despite the fact she walked past us several times and had plenty of time to chit chat with all the other waiters. Then another 30 to get our food. Then no water refills. I honestly was miserable and ready to go before I even got my food. This is not the childhood favorite it used to be--where birthdays and last days of school were celebrated. I'm very disappointed after having been a customer for nearly 15 years. I do not think I'll be back, and strongly suggest you don't go In an interesting turn of events, while Silver Diner offered to reach out to me, they never remedied the situation as I had been told over email. This is a very decent diner! In an area largely devoid of this traditional fare, finding Silver Diner was a pleasant surprise. It is done up with the classic 1950s diner motif and looks great! The restaurant is very clean. Servers are quick, polite, and attentive. We could not believe how quickly our meals came out, especially considering we were there at peak lunch time and the place was packed! I had a nice club sandwich, and my chick had a cheese steak omelette stuffed with cheese steak. The food was made with TLC and was tasty, options were a-plenty (but not overwhelming), and the prices were fair, especially considering this location is in Reston... Nice place to eat. read more
