I can't believe that this place only has three Yelp stars!! I absolutely adore Silver Diner; it is my go to place anytime we want to go out for breakfast or have anyone in town that we want to impress. The diner is clean and the wait staff is always so friendly and prompt. I haven't had a single thing on their menu that isn't completely delicious - my favorites are their omelettes and their goat cheese bruschetta. There are an abundance of healthy options on their menus and my kids love the fact that they can always get fresh strawberries there. If you haven't tried the Silver Diner I strongly suggest you get out for breakfast tomorrow. read more

We like it here. Good menu variety, staff is friendly and efficient. I would like to suggest they put their nutrition info online. I have a heart condition and need to plan around sodium. They do have the sodium info in a binder in the restaurant, but you have to ask for it, the font is very small and faded and hard to read, and it is overall not very convenient. That being said, there are a few lower sodium options on the menu which is uncommon in most restaurants. read more

I was here the other night and it was the last time. This place was already really low on my list due to the service, but I kept coming back because it's really close to my house and they are open late. The last time I visited, we walked in and were seated and our drink orders were taken. After sitting for a while my boyfriend makes this face and told me not to turn around and of course, I did not listen. When I turned around there was a cockroach crawling on the trim of my seat. I just about screamed and ran out. I'm absolutely disgusted by this particular location. I will not be returning. read more

Delicious is all I can say. Do not mind waiting in line when they are crowded no problem for me. Food is nice and fresh and the service is sincere. I go their at least twice a month. I highly recommend their "Baby Feta with Mushrooms" which includes; tomatoes, toasted bagel, cream cheese, served with seasoned home fries. Umm. It's ok. We've been here several times and the food and service have been a little spotty. Two visits ago my husband's breakfast potatoes were ice cold - they basically looked like a pile of chopped, day old boiled potatoes. The rest of our food was ok. Awesome restaurant, it gets busy and for a good reason the meals are great. Maria manages the counter during the week and it seems like poetry in motion. She stays focused making sure all goes well for my visit. Maria manages a busy counter and the diners seem to enjoy her service as she is the best. Just ask for her. The meal came out as ordered hot and very tasty, It is always a great place to get hot pancakes and with added blue berries well it doesn't get much better except when one adds the pure maple syrup, OUTSTANDING! Pricing is good especially when you join the Eat Well Do Well club, no charge for the club, and your visit earns points for each visit. Poor service and mediocre food makes Silver Diner a destination to skip. Weekday breakfast service got my kid's order wrong then tried to charge me for it twice. And it took nearly an hour and a half. There are a dozen better breakfast choices in the Reston/Town Center area. read more

The dishes we chose were consistently great. We love the roasted veggie salad topped with perfectly cooked salmon (so moist and rich tasting), roasted veggie sandwich (yea, there is a theme - we love our veggies especially if they are roasted!), and the bison huevos rancheros (very flavorful and fulfilling). For breakfast, anything with their crispy bacon is usually a winner. However, upon looking at other tables, I note that their fish and chips seem a bit sad looking with a few thin strips of dried up looking fish. read more

Not bad for diner food. They use a lot of local and organic ingredients. I tried the coconut quinoa pancakes, they were really mushy and tasted more like quinoa then pancakes. However their version of bison huevos rancheros were pretty good, very flavorful and healthy. Husband had a waffle with eggs and uncured bacon, and he said it was good. I went to Silver Diner on may 1st to have a nice breakfast with a old friend that I haven't seen her for 16 years. Her kids wanted pancakes so we decided to go to Silver Diner. I ordered two kids chocolate shakes, pancakes and old standby. The food was great but at the end when the server (Celsa Me) dropped the check I realized that she charged for a regular shakes when I ordered kids size. Then I asked her about the price and she was so offensive about it saying that she Order the regular size and I had to pay for it. I told her that it was ok then because my friend and her kids where uncomfortable after that. So I paid for our check. I left her $15.00 cash tip and nothing on my credit card. But when she closed the check she added $10.00 more on my credit card for her tip so my original check was $62.95 I left $15.00 cash tip and she added $10.00 more at the end. When I check my bank statement I saw a charge for $72.95 and I was surprised that on top of $15.00 cash she changed $10.00 more. She made $25.00 on a $62.95 tab. I don't understand how this restaurant works but I know that you CANNOT add any tip to a credit card if not authorized by the guest. I went to talk to the manager on may 5th and I told her what happened then she said that they don't have the closed checks after 3 days but she went to check to the office. When she went to her office and try to find the cash report and my check this server ( Celsa Me) came up to me and said " What are you doing here? I told her that she charged more money on top of her cash tip and then she said " how do you know that I was your server it was probably my sister" I saw her twin sister but I'm sure it wasn't her. I told the manager again that she came up to me and the manager apologized for her. The manager also told me that they would do a full refund on my credit card which that was not true. I called corporate after that and they also told me that they will look for that check. They refunded my $10.00 when the manager told me that it was a full refund. I just wanted to let people know that sometimes if things are not going well in a restaurant specially with the server please pay cash so you don't have this bad experience. I love Silver Diner I will always go back but not to this location again. read more

It's not 100% consistent but, in a pinch I will eat there or get take out. The mozarella with tomato sandwich is pretty good, the new dessert that features pretzels, and vanilla ice cream and peanut butter is a big fail. It's not very interesting, and I could have thrown it all together at home for less. The restaurant atmosphere is okay but sometimes parents bring their screeching brats, and we've asked not to be sat by them and sometimes the host still sits us next to them. That is a tough one. I really wish the servers could tell the parents to calm down their brats. I don't see how that would be too much of an imposition. I prefer to eat my meal in peace, or relative peace, lol. read more

Really 3.5. Not bad but not great either. I ordered the buttermilk pancakes w/ scrambled cheese eggs, bacon, and 'southern style' cheese grits. Ain't nothing southern about these grits! No salt, no pepper, and the butter and cheese are on the side. I don't know where they do that at but it ain't the south. They get a serious side eye for messing up grits. I didn't even know that was possible. Anywho, the pancakes were decent and the bacon was bacon (you REALLY can't mess that up). The eggs were more fried than scrambled with a slice of cheddar in between, and AGAIN no salt or pepper. Maybe I'm biased because I'm used to actual seasoning in my food (from southeast TN, here for work) but this was mostly just bland. I won't be in any hurry to make it back here. This is my favorite local diner. I especially enjoy the rare weekday morning that I am off work so that I can take advantage of the breakfast specials. I'm a big fan of the waffle and the Jack Cheddar Omelette, but the burgers are great as well. I ventured to the rest of the menu at one time to order a salmon entree that was actually quite tasty. The menu prices could be a bit lower though. I would buy a shake now and then if they weren't priced over $5 or so. I hadn't tried Silver Diner in a couple of years, so I decided to give it a try and went there Saturday morning for breakfast. First, the food: I ordered the western omelet and the eggs tasted rubbery and the potatoes were overcooked. The best thing about the dish was the biscuit. Also, for a diner, I expected the coffee to taste better. Next, the service: My waitress was very professional and attentive, so my problem wasn't with her. However, I was sitting at the bar and I know it's very tight and busy, but the staff needs to just let the customers eat in peace. There was a couple sitting next to me and it was evident that they were regulars, and two of the staff--a waitress and a manager-- just kept talking and talking to them and I guess the regulars liked it, but I just felt really crowded and put upon. I guess the waitress was on break because she wasn't working while the others were hustling; she just stood there with a cup of coffee, yapping with the couple, almost standing in front of me, and she wouldn't go away. It's nice to be friendly with the "regulars," but Silver Diner staff needs to be more mindful of giving space to the customers. read more

This is NOT the Silver Diner you know from back in the day. It's not a greasy burger and fries joint that only tastes good at 3am (cough cough Denny's) or is only good for bruncvh. Surprisingly, it's actually one of the best, most healthful options you can find in the area. Yeah, really. They've been making the switch to healthier, more modern and sophisticated cuisine over the past few years. I've actually noticed them get even better over time. Excellent vegetarian options, good raw sugar, organic options, great flavor variety. The old classics taste, great, and so do the vegetarian/vegan options. Try the new brussels sprouts/lentils entrée or the veggie burger - you won't be disappointed. The staff are plentiful, helpful, and always nicely/cleanly dressed. This is surprising enough that you'll notice it. I've never had anything but a pleasant experience on this count. The place is good for families too. Big booths nicely isolated from the people next door to keep the rowdy kids contained. This is a great restaurant that should be on your rotation. They're really trying hard to do better and have succeeded quite well. read more

Silver Diner has come a long way. First, the host is very nice and so are the waiters. The food is the part that has improved tremendously. The warm salad has great complex flavors and seems to be healthy too. I had the veggie Huevos Ranchero today and it was great. Meat was substituted with a black bean and quinoa mix that fooled me. It was excellent to say the least. I'm not even a vegetarian pansy (love my meat), but I liked these creative dishes. If you want an old fashion burger or omelet, they have that too. read more

Swing by to grab dinner on a weeknight with a coworker. From the start we had great service. My coworker ordered the steak. It's arrived just as he ordered it but was about one third the size in the picture. For $18 it's better to hold out for Prime Rib night around the corner. The menu left me struggling a bit to find comfort food with minimal risk. I chose the beef pot pie which came out looking artfully like beef stew with a crust on the side. The potatoes were on the bottom. This arrangement reduced odds of scorching my mouth. However I could have had a shepherds pie down the street for $5 less that was just as tasty.
