We love going here on a lazy weekend morning for brunch and lots of coffee. We've never waited there for longer than 10 min and if you get there before the church and soccer crowd, there is never a wait! Friendly staff, reasonable prices, large portions, and fresh food! Doesn't get much better than that. Minus one star because I once came for dinner and it was like a different restaurant....strange crowd. read more

This is NOT the Silver Diner you know from back in the day. It's not a greasy burger and fries joint that only tastes good at 3am (cough cough Denny's) or is only good for bruncvh. Surprisingly, it's actually one of the best, most healthful options you can find in the area. Yeah, really. They've been making the switch to healthier, more modern and sophisticated cuisine over the past few years. I've actually noticed them get even better over time. Excellent vegetarian options, good raw sugar, organic options, great flavor variety. The old classics taste, great, and so do the vegetarian/vegan options. Try the new brussels sprouts/lentils entrée or the veggie burger - you won't be disappointed. The staff are plentiful, helpful, and always nicely/cleanly dressed. This is surprising enough that you'll notice it. I've never had anything but a pleasant experience on this count. The place is good for families too. Big booths nicely isolated from the people next door to keep the rowdy kids contained. This is a great restaurant that should be on your rotation. They're really trying hard to do better and have succeeded quite well. read more

This is my favorite local diner. I especially enjoy the rare weekday morning that I am off work so that I can take advantage of the breakfast specials. I'm a big fan of the waffle and the Jack Cheddar Omelette, but the burgers are great as well. I ventured to the rest of the menu at one time to order a salmon entree that was actually quite tasty. The menu prices could be a bit lower though. I would buy a shake now and then if they weren't priced over $5 or so. Most of the wait staff are very friendly and attentive, which makes the overall dining experience even better. read more

The best diner we have been to! Farm to table restaurant with a lot of options! So many unique dishes! If you are in VA, this diner is a must!! read more

Really 3.5. Not bad but not great either. I ordered the buttermilk pancakes w/ scrambled cheese eggs, bacon, and 'southern style' cheese grits. Ain't nothing southern about these grits! No salt, no pepper, and the butter and cheese are on the side. I don't know where they do that at but it ain't the south. They get a serious side eye for messing up grits. I didn't even know that was possible. Anywho, the pancakes were decent and the bacon was bacon (you REALLY can't mess that up). The eggs were more fried than scrambled with a slice of cheddar in between, and AGAIN no salt or pepper. Maybe I'm biased because I'm used to actual seasoning in my food (from southeast TN, here for work) but this was mostly just bland. I won't be in any hurry to make it back here. But my server is super nice. read more

I hadn't tried Silver Diner in a couple of years, so I decided to give it a try and went there Saturday morning for breakfast. First, the food: I ordered the western omelet and the eggs tasted rubbery and the potatoes were overcooked. The best thing about the dish was the biscuit. Also, for a diner, I expected the coffee to taste better. Next, the service: My waitress was very professional and attentive, so my problem wasn't with her. However, I was sitting at the bar and I know it's very tight and busy, but the staff needs to just let the customers eat in peace. There was a couple sitting next to me and it was evident that they were regulars, and two of the staff--a waitress and a manager-- just kept talking and talking to them and I guess the regulars liked it, but I just felt really crowded and put upon. I guess the waitress was on break because she wasn't working while the others were hustling; she just stood there with a cup of coffee, yapping with the couple, almost standing in front of me, and she wouldn't go away. It's nice to be friendly with the "regulars," but Silver Diner staff needs to be more mindful of giving space to the customers. read more

The friendly staff makes this place a great standby for families and an obvious choice when my culinarily cautious mom comes to town. The food is meh - it's diner food, after all - but I find it cute that they try to be adventurous with vegan slaw with cranberries, bison burgers, and organic fare. The wasabi salmon sliders were pretty interesting, in a good way. read more

Went at 9 am on a recent Saturday morning.', it was packed. Had the sweet potato pecan pancakes and caramelized bananas. Excellent service

The food here is fresh, local, and for most of the menu, seasonal! Silver Diner offers quality vegetarian options like vegetarian sausage and vegan chili but the best part is that the nutritional information is right on the menu. It makes it easy to plan out a healthy meal. They are good with using minimal oil and butter in their food which is a rarity. If your going for breakfast, have one of the homemade biscuits ( that didn't some from a biscuit mix) or an English muffin baked in a local bakery. read more

Best diner! Check out the new Coconut quinoa pancakes!

The food was absolutely delicious! We got the bison huevos rancheros and the pesto bison burger with sweet potato fries. The burgers had a bit too much goat cheese for my taste though. The actual service, however, was dreadful. We waited for a long time before someone even came to ask for our drink order, and then later for our food. A completely different person brought our food and never stopped by our table unless we called him. I don't normally flag down waiters, but if I didn't we wouldn't have gotten any water, the check, or anything! After we asked for the check it took a long time for it to get to us. I always do my best to sympathize with waiters, but it was hard when the area cleared out and he still never stopped by. In fact, he never introduced himself to us. His name started with a p; that's all I could catch from the rare instances I saw him. This was our first time and we're not sure yet if it'll be our last only because the food met our expectation. read more

This place is a delight. The service is friendly, enthusiastic, and attentive (their corporate trainers must be amazing). The food is fresh, imaginative (for diner food), affordably priced, and is served in a very timely manner. Have NEVER had a bad experience here. read more

Great place for fast, healthy, locally sourced comfort food with a twist. Food is always tasty and really hits the spot. Definitely a local favorite! Silver Diner is more than just a diner. It's a great place for both comfort food favorites, and healthy, local, fresh dishes which are really great, and priced right! I first found Silver Diner when I moved to VA in 2009 and I have to say, they have only gotten better over time. Chef Ype and his team do a really great job of keeping the staples on the menu (and improving them), and for providing a lot of seasonal, fresh, and interesting new items. The menu offers a few pages of healthy alternatives for those who have gluten allergies or those looking to cut calories. Even the ketchup is organic and local (although a tad sweet for my liking. Some favorites include their milkshakes, burgers (you can have bison, turkey, or beef), and their 24 hour breakfast options (I love the blueberry pancakes, eggs, and sausage (pork, turkey, or chicken - all locally sourced.) Atmosphere is casual with lots of wood, stainless steel, and neon, and there is counter and booth seating as well as some tables in every restaurant. The busiest times are Sunday mornings after church services, and lunch. This is also a GREAT place to go for a late meal with friends or to grab a home made desert. Their pies are AMAZING! Finally, their service is top notch! I am always greeted quickly upon coming in and treated like family by the staff. Everyone seems to enjoy working there, and all strive to provide the best service they can. The restaurants are also always clean and well maintained (I've eaten at several locations, although my home location is in Reston, VA). All in all, I really enjoy Silver Diner and it will remain a staple of my local dining options for some time to come. read more

I frequently visit Silver Diner. It's one of the few places you can eat that you typically go to because it's convenient late at night, but also because the food is pretty good. It's pretty typical for a diner as far as food goes. They do have a few items that I wouldn't recommend such as the chicken tenders or quesadillas. But, others such as their burgers and sandwiches are above average for diner food. It should be noted that the milkshakes here are by far the best you can get in the area! The things that really makes this place worth coming to is the excellent service. Every server here is both attentive and incredibly friendly. I've actually had light conversations with them just about every time I come in. It makes the experience all the better. I don't expect much from diner's in general, but this place really goes above and beyond when it comes to the service. It's always one of my go-to restaurants. read more

Solid food. Well done Silver Diner. Creekstone farms burger(halaal/zabiha) was very good and banana pudding dessert was very good.

Not your traditional diner fare, if that's what you're looking for. We went for breakfast; the menu selection is a decent size for breakfast but limited for me as I don't eat eggs. The menu is based on fresh and local ingredients; I would be interested in going back for lunch. I ordered the banana French Toast. It comes with a vanilla cream, chocolate chips, caramel, and vanilla drizzle. I ordered without the caramel or vanilla drizzle but it was still super sweet. After I scraped off the vanilla cream it was much better. Pricey if you are looking for classic diner food. read more

This was my first time visiting the Reston location. I had the meatloaf and my husband ordered the steak. We sampled each other's meals and we both liked the food. The service was great too. I feel like the service and food is consistently excellent no matter which location you visit. ( I usually frequent the Franconia/Springfield location and occasionally the one in BWI) read more

We came here on a Sunday morning around 11 am, fully prepared for a long wait. The line was just inside the front door, but I don't think we waited even 15 minutes. Food was just terrible. Ordered eggs, bacon and home fries. Eggs would have been good but they didn't cook them right. People working there seem to congregate in the front forgetting about customers. Not going back read more

I have eaten here many times at several locations. This time was disappointing and I won't be coming back. The chicken sausage had no flavor and a strange texture. I don't think it had real meat in it. When i told the waitress she directed me to a comment box and instructed me to fill out a card. The floor was slippery and several customers almost wiped out. read more

Silver Diner has great food, quick and friendly service, an extensive menu that changes with the seasons. They work with local farms and promote fresh nutritious food while also keeping the old school diner favorites. They have a fun diner atmosphere with juke boxes and lots of bustling about. We always go for breakfast here on the weekends. Note that the line can seem really long but the wait is actually short. Also if you have a small party you can always look around the corner and see if there is counters seating available. Highly recommend their pancakes. Coffee is so-so but better quality than a typical diner. They have a 100% satisfaction guarantee and they mean it. We were asked by manager once how everything was going and we told them that we didn't have sauce on the side for one of our items and they paid for our entire meal. We weren't even complaining! Very nice. They really take care of you. All in all it's a great place with consistent food and positive experiences. read more

love love love the Silver Diner in Reston! We go there at least on eaweek, often more. and almost always with a group of friends. The menu is amazing and changes slightly seasonally. You can get organic creative healthy choices or good old Diner style food well prepared. no kidding. We are no connected in any way except happy customers! oh and we love the staff! Carina and Bill often wait on us and make us laugh ....all the staff are friendly, even the kitchen staff wave from the back as we arrive and leave. it's clean, reasonable and yummy. seriously, love that place! read more

We have been going to The Silver Diner since it opened in Reston. Eating in is a four star experience. Ordering for delivery has been poor. It is obvious that no one at the diner checks delivery orders before they are picked up. I can honestly say that there has been something missing from our order 100% of the time. Mostly these items gave been a small matter but irritating, such as forgetting the salad dressing, packing items sideways so that they are a mixed up jumble of food when you get them, forgetting to include cranberry sauce, etc. This last delivery was unacceptable. There was no gravy with the Turkey dinner. The gravy is the saving grace of what would otherwise be Turkey breast piled on a piece of bread with no added flavor or condiment. The bananas on the quinoa pancakes were black rot in the middle. It would have been obvious to the cook or packer as they were face up and on full display. I threw them away. Please run your takeout business with the same quality and attention to detail as your dine-in restaurant. read more

This particular location is probably the best of those in NOVA. Ive been to all of them and was impressed enough to write a review...I usually only do that for local businesses. The service was good and quick, but more impressive was the cleanliness which is hard to maintain in a place with the throughput of so many customers. The food is good for diner food but nothing special. I will go here over other diner choices in the area. read more

Definitely popular and quick-service. I'm a vegan and my local friends knew this menu sported vegan options. Major caveat: there are NO VEGAN BREAKFAST CHOICES. So go prepared to eat lunch or dinner options instead. They do have a listing for a vegan shake, which is certainly a first I've seen. Unfortunately, i just went in hoping for vegan pancakes or waffles (a rare, rare treat) and didn't find anything. Not even the oatmeal was listed as vegan, which is a usually safe order. read more

This location is very dirty, staff are not very friendly and the service is very slow. They don't clean the store at all! I have attached photos of dirty floors and chairs..... Gross and dirty !!!! Now imagine what the kitchen might look like! read more

I like this place especially for the varied and extensive menu, with many healthful, unusual and fun offerings you wouldn't expect from a diner, as well as the cheerful, attentive service. Also, it's right next door to a Trader Joe's--and they make such a good pairing one would almost think they were under the same management. I usually hit them together. read more

Much better than you've heard (and you've probably heard it's fantastic.) Fresh, healthy, and largely locally-sourced food served in a fun, family-friendly environment. Even if the line at the door is long, it moves quickly, and the experience can admittedly be a shade rushed, but that's the only knock against a "diner" that serves some of the best food in the area, regardless of price. read more

Your typical diner that you would expect. A bit pricey for diner food. Although they strive to be healthy on their menu selections.

Silver Diner spells chain restaurant with multiple locations moving along the lines of a tired American roadside theme. This location is in Reston and quite popular. My folks visit the Silver Diner occasionally taking advantage of frequent diner options and coupons. I tend to shy away from promotions but my folks wanted to swing by for an early dinner. We were greeted kindly and seated nicely at one of the back booths. Our server was polite and prompt with menus, specials and drink orders. My folks each ordered a salmon dish and I opted for the shrimp scampi dish with a caesar salad. Nothing much to it. My 'caesar' salad showed up within a couple minutes of ordering...probably pre-made and chilled prior to pulling the plastic wrap off the top...served in a soup bowl with tomatoes and a side container of what appeared to be store bought ranch!!?? Interesting. My server indicated it was a caeser and not a house salad. I had to wonder. I tend not to fuss in restaurants unless necessary. Yes...grated parm out of a plastic container on any salad turns it into a caesar. I hunkered down with memories of college cafeterias and proceeded with the salad in the soup bowl. Good timing after completing the salad...the rest of our orders were delivered to our table. My folks enjoyed their salmon dishes and I worked the shrimp scampi. My folks did indicate that the food was lukewarm but cooked...and on second thought...my scampi was somewhat bland and oily. This evening's dinner was fair for the standards. No surprises...but some annoying traits given the corporate denominator. I am giving my review a two star rating for this evenings dinner occasion. I understand that the Silver Diner is attempting to promote healthier options with local and organic ingredients...it would be fair to try other options on future visits. read more

This place is perfect for quick bites and even for hangouts with friends. The service was excellent and caring.

We were looking forward to a lunch out but unfortunately this didn't meet out expectations so we were disappointed. They didn't use the vanilla bean ice cream for the vanilla shake but the strawberry one was delicious as always. The turkey club was light on the bacon but had too thick a slice of turkey and the avocados were unripe. So sorry with today's visit. read more

My family and I LOVE Silver Diner. I go there too often; love their shakes, the place is clean, and I have never had bad service. The only other place that is on par food and service wise would be Sweetwater Tavern. Now, I was a big fan of the old Caramel French Toast, which they have now substituted with some local organic wimpy thin bread due to a menu change. Disappointed? A little, but overall the place is ridiculously well run. read more

the food is good and the portions are huge... but the place is FILTHY. I know it is supposed to be diner themed, but ive never been to a diner this dirty. Convenience counts for alot and the location is good, but if you have the time... drive up the road to virginia kitchen for a REAL (and truly local) diner... OR head to the amphora in herndon for a comparably priced meal that is really good and sit in a clean booth where the floors arent black and sticky under the tables. read more

Nice family environment, Lots of gluten-free options on the menu, decent portion sizes. They offer eggs served to order, and many customizable meals, which is nice for picky eaters, especially kids.
