Our group of 9 were in Temecula to celebrate my wife's uncle Allen's 88th birthday. We're quite familiar with Shogun, having celebrated family get togethers on several occasions at their original Pasadena location in the past. So why only a 3 star rating from me? After probably a half dozen or more experiences with Teppanyaki grill restaurants, not really a fan of the food. More for show than anything else and a first time for uncle Allen. So that was good but things like our chef not providing much veggies for the rest of the remaining 7 of us, compared to the same amount given to her uncle and aunt was inexcusable. Especially seeing the amounts other same sized parties were receiving. Or the fact that my wife and I got the same bland chicken as others in our party requesting teriyaki, while we had orders of sesame with no sesame seeds or sauce provided. And finally getting the three sad birthday singers and drummer showing up to our table well after they had visited others. Some well after our group's birthday party had arrived. No need for me to visit another Shogun location in the future. My 3 star vote is being a bit generous. A big thank you to my wife's youngest brother Ken and his wife Natalie, for hosting and covering all expenses at Shogun. And later opening their home for the remaining birthday and Super Bowl celebrations!

Our experience at Shogun from start to finish was great. The place looked very nice, Shogun logo all of the place, decorations looked really nice. Clean bathroom, tables, plates etc. Our server was Tori she looked great with her Japanese uniform. Service was also great and even sang traditional Japanese birthday song with tambourine and her partner with drums. Took a family Polaroid picture in the end with a birthday cake that had a relighting magic candle. We had Chef Wes he did a great job entertaining us and cooked some yummy food. From our butter noodles, butter fried rice lots of butter hehe supper yummy tender calamari, juicy scallop. We had the prime rib, new york steak and seafood combo. Just dont ask him about the world cup because he will talk about the lakers lol. We got also got takoyaki, mai tai, half rolls. Afterwards Antonia the smiling lady cleaning up and setting the table for the next guest. Wes came back and gave my son the winding chick toy. Memorable 8th birthday. Thank you Chef Wes, Tori & Antonia have a nice day!

Last night, me and my husband and our three month old went to Shogun. It was my husband's first time at any hibachi. I was a little bit nervous with bringing a baby in a stroller, but the staff was very helpful. The restaurant was very clean inside they had a really nice bar inside. I also noticed. The service was honestly amazing Cathy was our server and she was very attentive ,fast with getting our drinks and very good with checking up on us.. Wes was our chef who was cooking for us and he was 10 out of 10 amazing. The food tasted amazing. Overall, it was a great night and a great first time experience for my husband. We will definitely be coming back.!

Always love going to Shogun. We frequently eat here. My go to is the Filet and Colossal shrimp. My last visit I chose the Wagyu Rib Eye and Colossal Shrimp. I also love the butter cake, it is a must. Enjoy the selection of Japanese beer and Saki. Sometimes it takes a while to get your drinks from the bar so make sure to get the bar orders in early. The show is always entertaining and they have a large selection of combinations.

We have been enjoying Shogun for 15+ years. We have been there twice in the last month to celebrate our anniversary and my birthday . We could have chosen other restaurants but know we always get really great food and service at Shogun. They remodeled over the last year, sparing no expense. Frankly, there is no comparison to Benihanna. Shogun is a far better choice. The chefs at Shogun are outstanding provide exceptional entertainment and really delicious food. The staff is always welcoming and efficient. We can hardly wait for our next visit.

Ask the Community - Shogun Restaurant

What time do the teppan tables start seating?

Is Shogun have weekdays lunch specials meal? Any idea what's kind of meal?

    Yes

How much in advance can we make a reservation? Planning for a graduation dinner in a couple weeks and want to make sure we lock in a time.

You can call however long in advance to make a reservation! The earlier the better, cause this place can get pretty busy during graduation times/holidays. Just include how many people will be in your party and whether you need any baby…

Anyone how to make reservations? they are not answering the phone

I suggest calling early like around 12nn-1pm right when they open.. Or right before they close around 8-8:30pm

    Open for dine in yet?

    Yes, have to make Reservations

Does anyone know if it's open for dine-in I'm calling to ask but no one answers?

I suggest calling early like around 12nn-1pm right when they open.. Or right before they close around 8-8:30pm

    Is it Kid friendly?

    Yes!!!

What is the largest party size that can be accommodated at the grill?

Normally seating is for 8, but they can squeeze in 10 if needed. Or another option is to have 16 people and occupy both grills.

Does Shogun have a take out/pick up menu?

No ; there are pictures of menu on here though .

The sushi itself was mediocre. The fish was ok, kids said they liked their rolls but you can't go wrong with rolls, right? The amount of ginger and wasabi they provided was ridiculous. Price for the quality is ridiculous. It was a Saturday night at 6pm and the place was empty. This place used to be so busy! That should've been a red flag when we walked in. This is coming from someone that has 6years of experience as a waitress, part of that working in a sushi restaurant. The staff was very unkind to my mother for having a gluten allergy. They stated that she cannot have the rice because of having gluten in it?? My mom react to the soy sauce, we have not had a problem with the sushi rice from this location. The tone that the first male server gave was giving "this is an inconvenience" so by stating the rice claim, almost to get us to leave all together. Then he says he will have all the rolls not have any sauce on top which was nice of him to offer. Then we had female waitress, Kelly, who we tried to ask a a question as she was passing. I watched her sit a table, clean a table, place a check before coming back to answer our question. (All I understand) until she walks by our table and pretends not to look at us. So I have to stop her again because one of the roles had a sauce on top. So I asked her if the sauce had gluten in it. Again. (2nd time I asked this question from her passing by twice) she acted as if this was a new question, and was trying to walk away. She assured the sauce does have gluten. So I told her that we already explained to the male sever that we cannot have gluten in the sauces. We kept that roll for the gluten people and order another roll for my mom to eat. She then asks us for another round of tea and brings us a teapot of just hot water.... Overall, I cannot stand when servers make you feel like an inconvenience. The Hana sushi staff by chaparral on Winchester is MUCH FRIENDLIER we are regulars to both locations. After this encounter, we all agreed we will make it a point to only go to the Winchester location as they are very kind and attentive to my mother's allergies.

Once at the table, we ordered generously--soup dumplings, BBQ pork buns, shumai, beef and broccoli, and still more dumplings. Everything was outstanding. When we were seated, we asked for a high chair three separate times before one was finally brought to our table. The high chair turned out to be too small for our son, so we asked if we could use a booster seat on the end chair instead. The server seemed hesitant, mentioning she wasn't sure she'd be able to get by the chair. We said that was fine and instead placed the booster seat between my wife and me. After struggling to get our son comfortable, we eventually realized the booster seat has two different height settings depending on which side is facing down. It would have been helpful if that had been pointed out when it was brought to the table. Throughout the meal, our server seemed distracted and wasn't around very often. Our food was brought out by other staff members, which isn't necessarily a problem by itself, but combined with the lack of check-ins it made the service feel disconnected. The biggest disappointment came when I took my son outside while we waited. The benches, chairs, and handrails in the waiting area were covered in bird droppings. There were spider webs in multiple places, and the entrance to the restaurant itself looked dirty. I understand the restaurant is going for an old harbor or fishing-boat atmosphere, but there's a big difference between rustic and neglected. Instead of feeling charming or nautical, it felt like years of dirt and grime had simply been left in place. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but basic cleanliness and attentive service are things I expect from any restaurant, especially when dining with a young child. I hope management takes this as constructive feedback because the restaurant has potential, but our experience left us with little desire to return.
