We decided to go exploring today and ended up at Tonto national forest. We took the turn for Saguaro Lake on a whim and ended up by Shiprock for lunch. First, the lake is beautiful- just gorgeous view as others have stated. We knew what we were in for as far as view vs food, but we were really hungry. The tables on the patio are not quite socially distanced, but there was a nice breeze and so we didn't feel unsafe. As the lunch hour carried on, there were more and more people arriving without masks and walking pretty close to the tables. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with pepper jack cheese and a side of coleslaw and my husband ordered the fish tacos with a side of fries. The chicken sandwich was pretty bland, but that is because the cheese only covered half of the sandwich. The coleslaw was interesting, it has raisins in it, but it was pretty good. My husband ordered the fish tacos and felt they were almost inedible. And I quote 'worst fish tacos I've had in my life.' And that's saying something from the guy who is always telling me '5 stars!' The best part of the meal was the fries, they were crispy and yummy. Service was exceptionally slow. We had to get our waiters attention several times for simple asks, like a refill of a beer or our check. They do have quite a few food runners, so you did actually get your food when it was hot. There just isn't much hustle in the actual server team. The outdoor patio was overflowing with people by noon- so we hustled up and paid our $53 bill. By the way, appetizers are quite expensive (chips and salsa- $9.99), so no, you can't come here and hang out for just the view :).

This is a very nice place to eat, but you need to be aware of the timing of coming here with the cruise schedule. The restaurant & parking lot can get very crowded when the boat comes and goes. Dining outside is the best. The view is wonderful and the service is pretty quick. They have a nice menu selection, most of the time with standard pub type food, and recently we got a Reuben on St Patrick's day and it was delicious. It's a great spot to eat and enjoy the outdoors at the same time.

This spot is overlooking Saguaro Lake and it's the location that's the real draw. The good is good but pricey in my opinion. I took the family up this weekend and lunch for our party of 6 was $190 which included the gratuity which was added in by the restaurant per normal practice for groups. Service is good. I had the fried catfish po boy and clam chowder. The fish was not that good and soup could have been hotter. The others in my group all loved theirs so I am giving 4 stars. I bet a sunset dinner here would be incredible. They had a duo performing on guitars. For me I'm all about that!! They were playing classic rock tunes.

Very busy - the food was decent and it was nice to have a restaurant nearby where we can go to grab a bite in a remote area. However there were many bees flying around all of the tables, and they didn't really have any vegetarian options except a veggie burger which they use beyond meat Pattie's for ( didn't specify this ) Overall it was okay - got the job done and gave us some nice views to look at while eating !

I'm being generous with 3 stars. The view was a 5 star but the food was just meh. We were there on a weekday and still waited 45 mins to be seated. My husband ordered the fish platter with cole slaw and fries. Fish was greasy and flavorless. I ordered the burger and fries. Food was hot but my burger had a strange flavor. I ate a third of it and gave up. It's a beautiful area but The Shiprock is not someplace I would ever eat again. We had 2 meals and 2 ice teas and our total was a whopping $65 including tip. I guess I paid extra for the views as it could not have been for the food. Walk around, enjoy the views but eat someplace else.

We brought an out of town friend to venture about Saguro lake and look at the boat rentals. It was approx 9am and we decided to ascend the stairs to check out the restaurant for a coffee. We ended up sitting out on the beautiful patio overlooking the lake, had the Torpedo Burrito (chorizo and eggs) um YUM! And we had the best Bloody Mary's. Wow so unassuming, but so good! The food and the drinks were outstanding. The new waitress was darling. We had a good chat about the activities that the locals do around the lake (stand up paddle board etc.). What a pleasant surprise! We live off Shea so it is an easy 20 minute drive for a breakfast or meal with a view to wow your senses.

The view is very nice food it's OK drinks are bad the customer service is OK obviously you're paying for the view I ordered a drink a strawberry watermelon it tasted like water I got a BLT that was actually really good the bacon was good my friend got a Reuben sandwich that was good and then for an appetizer we got a shrimp appetizer the large shrimp was great but the baby shrimp tasted terrible this place is definitely over price again you're paying for the view the food was decent but the customer service was lacking. I was going to take half of my sandwich and salad to go but when the gal finally brought me a box the box was placed halfway on the table and the food once I put it in there spilled on my lap she saw this right in front of her and had no concern so I left the food there so again it was a total waste. A good waitress would have offered napkins or perhaps even to remake half the sandwich.

Ignore any bad reviews. Most of them say "too expensive". I don't know what kind of cheap people go here, or if they are used to McDonald's prices, but this place is priced just like any sit down restaurant in the area but with 10x better views. $15-$20 for a huge sandwich/burger and fries. We came a few days ago, sat outside on the deck by the misters, and enjoyed the peaceful view. The pulled pork was huge and delicious. The Reuben sandwich was huge and delicious. The BLT was exactly what you'd expect from a very tasty BLT. The fries were mouth watering. Even had a prickly pear margarita that was recommended and so tasty. Customer service was fantastic. Like I said, ignore the bad reviews and try it yourself. Great food and great scenery.

    Absolutely awful "all-you-can-eat" fish!!!

Brought me wife in for the fish fry, came with three nice pieces. After finishing our plates, the waitress dumps the check on our table as she passes by to another table. Hum...I paid $25 for all-you-can-eat...but apparently not. After a 9 or 10 minute wait...in a 70% empty restaurant...she finally comes back and grabs the check...while I finally get to ask for some more fish. This is what they bring me after roughly 12-14 minutes of waiting. This is not the same fish from the first plate. This is frozen fish sticks. Awful!!! Absolutely awful!!!

How is the Friday fish fry?

I got the fish sandwich last time i went out for lunch and was not impressed. You're paying for the views at this restaurant moreso than the food. But if you're referring to a Lenten fish fry or something I cannot really offer an opinion there.…

Some in the group ordered pan roasts and some ordered crawfish etouffee. My friend also ordered clams. I always get the combo pan roast here. It's a mix of crawfish, shrimp and crab. Choose your spice level from 1-10. I forgot to specify a number and just said "hot" but it was not spicy enough for me. I normally get 7-8. I ended up adding in all the hot sauce options that were on the table plus some chili powder. Now that had a good kick to it. Ask for that! Price for the combo pan roast has doubled from before! It used to be $20, then it slowly increased to $30, and now it's $40! It's good, but I can also make it at home and get more for my money.

This place feels like someone at the casino ran out of ideas--and space--and decided, "Sure, let's…read morecram a seafood restaurant into this random corner and call it a day." The result is a space so small and awkward it borders on absurd: a few tightly packed tables, a tiny circular bar, and just enough room to guarantee a wait time that feels wildly out of proportion to what's actually being offered. It's wedged at the end of a hallway off the casino floor, with all the ambiance of a service passage. Calling it a restaurant is generous; it's more like a seafood-themed afterthought. Honestly, it would make far more sense as a grab-and-go sandwich counter or coffee stand. As it is, it comes across as the fast-food version of seafood--minus the speed, convenience, or value. I was there with my 21-year-old daughter and we sat at the bar, which turned out to be a mistake. Instead of even the bare minimum of professionalism, the staff treated the space like their personal break room. We were subjected to loud singing, nonstop chatter, and unfiltered complaints about coworkers and management--all happening just a couple of feet away while we were trying to eat. It wasn't just distracting; it was genuinely uncomfortable. There's something uniquely off-putting about paying for a meal while being forced to listen to an impromptu staff gripe session. With so many legitimately good restaurants nearby, there's absolutely no reason to waste time--or money--here. It's the kind of place that makes you immediately regret not going literally anywhere else. I would have happily waited to dine at Orange Sky, where the setting and service actually match expectations. In hindsight, skipping this entirely wouldn't have just been the better option--it would have been the obvious one.

We are fans of the local competitor and wanted to see how this one compared. TLDR: the other one is better! We each ordered the Famous Low Country Boil - mine with lemon pepper sauce and my daughter with the 88 Special, a combo of all the sauces. She went with no spice and I went with mild. We also ordered a bowl of rice. We did enjoy what we had but it seemed heavier than what we are used to. We were not big fans of the sausage mixed in and our service was fine, but not amazing. We were also disappointed that there were not scissors offered to help get the meat out of the crab / lobster - we really had to work for it! On a positive note, we did make good use of the wet wipes that were given to us as well as our bibs and gloves. It is quite a messy meal and note that I learned the hard way: don't wear white if you're planning on ordering any kind of seafood boil! Pricing is similar to the competitor. Ambiance is chill but not as fun. I would not rush back, but I also would return with reasonable expectations.
