The service was great too, and everyone took good care of us. I ordered a Blue Hawaiian, and we shared the lobster dip. One of the highlights was the Roll the Dice challenge on the menu! Definitely recommend giving it a try if you're feeling lucky. Hopefully you have better luck than I did Overall, we had a really fun night and it was a great spot to bring friends who were visiting!

Pretty disappointed with our visit to Backyard in Gilbert. The food was just okay, but the service…read morewas honestly worse. Our booth was sticky when we sat down and after asking a few times for someone to wipe it off, they finally handed us a rag and had us do it ourselves. They also messed up our order and charged us for a full pizza instead of the kids pizza we ordered. The beer tower we got didn't work, and when they replaced it, it looked like they just poured the beer into another one while spilling a lot of it. Then one of the kids had a fly in their drink and nobody really seemed to care. They brought it out that way. Just wasn't a great experience overall and we probably won't be back.

This restaurant is legitimately fantastic and deserves to be discovered by more people. My husband and I went on a Friday night, and the place was absolutely poppin with a great, lively atmosphere. We split the Ammo Burger with onion rings and the Philly cheesesteak (we added jalapeños, of course!) with fries. Everything was phenomenal. The burger was delicious, the Philly cheesesteak was fantastic, and the fries deserve their own shout-out. They're cooked in beef tallow, and the crisp on them was absolutely perfect. The onion rings were also delicious! They had an amazing beer special while we were there, buy one, get one for $1, which I believe may have been a Labor Day special, so definitely check before you go. But we were more than happy to take advantage of it! One thing I really loved was seeing the chef come out and make his way around the restaurant to say hello and check in with everyone. That always creates such a welcoming, personal vibe and says a lot about a place. Seriously, if you haven't discovered Smoke & Grain yet, put it on your list. Great food, great atmosphere, cold beer, and an all-around fun night out. We will definitely be back!

It was practically empty when me and my friend came in, so we sat at the bar and were offered samples if we wanted to try anything before buying a pint. It's definitely a pub, not a restaurant vibe, so that's something to keep in mind. There is plenty of parking, and the bathroom was very clean. I really enjoyed all the card/board games available for people to use and I'll definitely be trying that out next time I'm in the area!

Well, this is a little surprise down the street, I had Kava with a girlfriend the other day for the…read morefirst time. My friend picked this place because it was quirky and cool. She loves Alice in Wonderland. She was mistaken and thought it said Java not Kava. She thought Java Kava was a coffee lol So to my surprise when I get there, Kava is a dirt water that is very, very strong and pungent and not my cup of tea lol But besides that, this place is so hip and cool. The bartender was very, very informative and he let us know that they will give you your first dose of Kava for free to try it. I could not choke all of it down. My friend was a trooper goddess, and she choked the whole thing. I was so impressed by her I am very sensitive to things. I am a big baby sometimes so I did not drink the rest of mine because immediately I had a gag reflex going on lol So I did not drink the initial dose, but I ordered the Horchata beverage that had cover in it. And they have different doses, strengths and different styles of, so this is just what I ordered. It was the last light, on the menu he suggested for us. So even though I did not enjoy the Kava, it is not my jam. I would try it again lol I know that sounds crazy even after the strange tingling in my throat went away after everything I've said because I saw other people coming in and they had huge juicy type of Kava drinks and I was thinking well you know, maybe I'll come back and try the juicy, drink next time instead of focusing on this particular experience And the reason I say that is because the bartender was so great and informative and it is a fantastic vibe in there and it was busy enough for a weird Wednesday afternoon. So they have trivia karaoke all kinds of stuff throughout the week and I could see this being a really fun place. So if you like Kava, you should really come here. It is very fun. They had really great music going on and like I said the bartender was top-notch. Good job mad Hatter.!!! Try it!!

Sometimes seating is difficult with a larger party, as the tables and seating seem a little compact. There are tons of drinks in their menu to choose from. I did appreciate that the speakeasy was below ground and required a password. I do think it's odd that when making a reservation online, you are not prompted on how to retrieve the password. Thank goodness my friend receives the emails and let me know ahead of time what to say. You enter down a long hallway and wait at a bookcase that opens. It kind of feels like forever because there's nowhere to go and could create a little bit of potential claustrophobia/panic for people who may be sensitive to those types of environments. The drink menu was good but I really wasn't wowed. They did offer three mocktails which wasn't really impressive and the cocktails did include a variety of liquors and flavor profiles but again, wasn't as extensive or interesting as some other speakeasies around town. The food menu was very disappointing - a lot of dairy and bread - pretzels with cheese, flatbread, queso with chips, and "rabbit food" - hummus with bread and vegetables. We asked to have all vegetables instead of bread and they did accommodate with a generous helping of full-size rainbow carrots and cherry tomatoes. We actually ran out of hummus before we could finish the vegetables. I understand elevated pricing for the aesthetic/experience but I did think the pricing here was a little bit high for what was received.

Once again...a meal that was fantastic, fresh, and well cooked. Wife had an Amaretto Sour, which is made with Disaronno and she loves that drink, saying it's well balanced and she likes that they don't use the egg foam on top. She also ordered off the Crabby Hour menu some scallops on the half shell and some roasted brussels sprouts. This place knows how to roast spouts so that they are tender and toasted and not overdone. So yummy! The scallops are served with a light ponzu sauce drizzled over which complimented the tender scallops. Delicious! From the Restaurant Week menu, I chose the crab & Artichoke dip which we love and it isn't typically on their menu. It was so good and I had to ask for some extra toast points because there was so much dip! I also got the stripped bass, which was cooked to perfection although a smaller portion than the one you get from the regular menu. They do bass right! And for dessert, chose the Pumpkin Pot de Creme, which was my first taste of pumpkin for the season. Creamy and so good although I took off most of the whip cream because it was a lot.
