I used to go a lot to their buffet before the pandemic. Later I ordered to go. This was my in person first visit after they canceled the buffet. The restaurant was remodeled but had only three tables with customers on Friday around 1pm. Still I was seated at the very corner, so annoying. Previously they were so packed and you have to wait to be seated. You can tell that I liked the place better when they had a buffet. I went here for the first time, and although I am American, I have lived and had Indian food in large cities (NY, San Fran) and I love the complex flavors and diverse tastes of the food. However, here, my food had ZERO flavor at all. I ordered 'medium' spice. I was like eating warm mush with no taste. The waitress was not at all knowledgable about the menu or food, I had a few questions and her reply was 'read the menu' So, between totally bland flavorless food and bad service, I don't think I'll return. If you just want a full belly and don't care about food preparation or taste I guess you may like it here, but I don't think it's a good representation of a culture's amazing cusine. read more

Really good Indian food...one of the few in my experience that has tastes authentic. Went here on a weekend and they still had a lunch buffet, which was cool cause not many Indian places do the lunch buffet on weekends. Their curries and biryanis are really delicious and are actually spicy if you request them to be. This place also one of the few Indian restaurants that has more shrimp and fish dishes. Which could've been amazing had the shrimp had more shrimp though. Their naan, especially the garlic naan is very flavorful and really great as they come fresh off the oven. Although they do not have Kashmiri naan, they do have Kashmiri rice which goes really well with the dishes. One downside is that there's no complimentary papadums and chutney to start the meals but other than that Sher-e-Punjab is definitely one of the best places to get Indian food in Tucson. read more

Been here once before. They have changed the place up a little bit. They have a buffet which has some pretty good options. We stuck with the menu and ordered the lamb and chicken masala. Super good. The bill was only $35 including two iced teas!!! Not only was the price great, the food was excellent, servers were attentive. We liked this place so much I ate there again the next day. We started with the sampler. Not sure if we were supposed to use the pepper and mint salsa with but we did and it worked. THE Best Indian in town!. We've tried them all and the others are mediocre at best, and downright icky at worst. The Sher e Punjab is our go to weekly now. The food is prepared with care and complex flavors, the variety is super, the servings are generous and the service is very good. A remarkably well run place. They handle the crowds extremely efficiently, and the prices are fair. I just wish it was more central and more north so we could eat there every day ! Some of our favs are the lamb shahi korma, the palak chana, and the jeera rice. Its a good combo. 2020 UPDATE: I wrote this review in 2015 on Zomato but still feel this way - it's still the best Indian in town! This was our first visit to Sher E Punjab since moving to their new location (literally just next door to the old location). The interior is swanky and attractive. It was, however very warm in the dining room. The waitstaff are attentive and keep things very clean. We opted for the lunch buffet. On offer was a variety of vegetables and meat dishes. Surprisingly for a buffet, the food is fresh and hot and delicious. The Tandoori chicken is probably the best I've ever had. The Samosas were hot and crisp. The Kofta curry was exceptional. Only the beef curry was a bit under par as the meat was very tough. Beef on an Indian menu seems quite strange to begin with. The desserts are also quite good. Our server kept our iced tea full and removed dirty plates immediately. The cost of the buffet seems to have gone up since the move. Two lunch buffets with iced teas, tax, and tip came in at about $35. We'll definitely be back. read more

I have been coming to this restaurant for many years. Over those years the quality has never changed. This is my favorite Indian food restaurant in Tucson. Most others haven't come close in terms of flavor. I got the chili chicken and chicken tikka masala. Both dishes were very tasty and can be adjusted to how spicy you like them. The restaurant has recently recieved a facelift which makes the restaurant appear more modern. Service was top notch and attentive. This place has off-the-charts fantastic Indian food. I picked up takeout the other night. It had been about three years since I'd eaten there. I had really liked it before, but I don't live in the area. Since my last visit, the inside had been renovated to accommodate more people, and it looks very nice. But what really struck me is that the already high-quality food was taken to the next level. It is a hard move to go from excellent to outstanding, but Sher-e-Punjab has done it! The food is memorable--even something as simple as the papadum. In addition to knocking it out of the park with traditional favorites, we expanded our ordering to some of the novel dishes.
