We wanted a nice lunch today and thought we would try this business. I have to say I was very disappointed. The soup was thick and gravy like and very bland. I had lo mein and it was extremely greasy and not flavorful at all. My friend had orange chicken. He said the wonton was tasteless and rice had no flavor to it. Service was very attentive and polite. Both Google and Yelp say there are 134 Chinese restaurants in Tucson AZ. When I moved here from San Francisco's China Town area five years ago I quickly learned that I had left great Chinese food behind and my routine of dining on Chinese food 2-3X/week was in trouble. I have tried out 35-40 different restaurants and have never found anything San Francisco quality UNTIL LAST NIGHT. Old Peking's food was a total hit to all at my table- there were servings of various vegetables, noodles, several different seafoods and of course Peking Duck. With the fabulous duck there were three choices- duck served whole, cut up with bones and cut up boneless. My attached photo is the boneless. IT WAS CHINETOWN QUALITY! The service was very good, nice soft music, good quality furniture and everything spotlessly clean AND the prices were way less than San Francisco. Has Old Peking recently changed management? This has been our go-to for take out since we moved to the neighborhood 10 years ago. Tonight I ordered take out with delivery. The food use to come in large white styrofoam containers. The friend rice would practically fall out when the lid was opened, it was piled so high. Tonight it came in a container 1/2 the size and was oily. In fact all 4 things we ordered were dripping in oil. I have included a picture of the Mongolian beef. That's oil in the container. That doesn't include the oil that was on my plate. It was swimming in it. If you don't believe me about the container size look at the restaurants photos on the yelp page. It shows the food in the big white containers. Now look at the picture I added of my container tonight. I know times are tough. I know food prices have risen, but 1/2 the same amount of food and much lower quality, we sadly won't be back. read more

I want to start off by saying that we came today on Christmas Day.. first of all, thank you for being open, truly mean that from the bottom of our hearts. Went for dinner Sunday. Service was a bit slow. There was 2 for dinner. My meal came and was basically room temperature. Sesame chicken, as was the hot tea. My friend ordered fish soup which came about 5 min or more after my meal. I had started eating. The waitress came before we were finished and sat the check on the table. We were enthusiastically greeted upon entering and offered food recommendations based on our preferences. We chose steamed dumplings, Szechuan shrimp, and chicken fried rice, all spicy. The spice level provided the perfect bite enhancing the dish without overpowering the flavors. The dumpling noodles were light with a flavorful filling. I was impressed with the tenderness of the shrimp and variety and amount of vegetables in the Szechuan Shrimp. I ordered the broccoli chicken, lettuce wraps, and gyoza to go. The food was pretty good. Lots of onions in the lettuce wraps (not a fan of onions), but that was ok. It was still well prepared and full of flavor. The broccoli chicken was typical, but still flavorful as well. And the gyoza was pretty good. Can get these steamed or pan fried. I used to love Old Peking but now I refuse to eat here because of how I was treated earlier this evening. I ordered and the picture will show my food at 3:11 pm, I forgot a drink so I called them back to add a drink to my order about 3:15 pm. online it also shows ready time the time it took for them to cook my order in for it to be ready for delivery and it was marked for 3:56 pm, about 4: 15 pm I started calling the business because it is just down the street from my house it is not far at all maybe 5 minute drive if that. Because my order had not arrived. The lady on the phone said that she would be contacting the driver and that she would give me a call when she got a hold of the driver. so I waited for her to call me she never did. So 4: 22 I called back and just asked why it was taking so long for my order to get to me she said she didn't know and that she could not contact the driver herself and she doesn't know why he hasn't shown up to my place yet. So I say that I'm going to give it 5 to 10 more minutes, so I do. About 4: 45 still nothing. I called the restaurant and said that I don't want the food anymore because at this point it's not in a temperature controlled area and it's probably just on the floorboard or on the seat of someone's car and I should not be waiting 2 hours for food that is literally 5 minutes away. She said "oh okay" and hung up. 5:10 pm, there's a knock at my door and it's the driver with the order and I specifically came outside and spoke to him saying that I contacted the restaurant already and that I did not want the order because I was not waiting for 2 hours for food that has been sitting out in an uncontrolled environment. Those of you who don't know if certain food is not in a heat controlled environment it starts growing bacteria the longer food is sitting out that is cooked could make you sick. And my food had apparently been in his car for an hour. So there is no way I was going to eat it. Obviously he was bummed and kind of pissed off which he had no right to be if anyone had a right to be angry it was me because here I was wanting to spend money on order that never arrived at the time it said it was going to. However this situation doesn't stop here. Shortly after the app sends me an email pin stating that my order was canceled due to the fact that I never answered my door and that I never showed up to claim the order even though I had called to cancel the order because it was food that had gone bad and I also spoke to the driver whose fault it was for not delivering it on time to his face so for them to say that I never showed up to claim my order I think is absolute insanity. The fact that they would think that I would eat 2 hour old food that has been sitting in a person's car is absolutely ridiculous. I was not going to get sick from eating food that was not controlled properly. If you have gotten sick here this is probably why if you have ordered food from this establishment and you have gotten sick it is probably because your food was sitting in someone's car. I will never give business to this place again. read more
