Panda One on Oracle has become our Christmas Eve tradition, and honestly, I can't imagine doing it any other way. There's something about it that reminds me so much of New England-style Chinese food, which is hard to come by out here and brings back a lot of memories for us. We each ordered the dinner plates that come with rice and two sides. Our go-to side is always the boneless spare ribs -- we all agree they're the best. For mains, we ordered General Tso's chicken (we asked for mild, but next time I'd probably go medium for a little more kick), orange chicken (total crowd favorite), and chicken and broccoli, which was simple and really well done. Panda One is my favorite Asian cuisine restaurant here in Tucson. It is EXACTLY like what I grew up with back in Boston! Tonight, I ordered at 9:28 PM, and then found out that they close at 9:30. I had an early dinner here two days ago. I had Scallops in Garlic Sauce with Vegetable Fried Rice, a spring roll and a chicken wing ($15.95 for all of it). The place looks pretty shabby on the exterior and not much better inside, but service was friendly and professional. The main dish came with many small bay scallops, not the larger sea scallops. All of the food was OK but nothing special. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but it's fine if you're in the neighborhood. read more

I really Hate to do this review with only two stars because I've ordered from Panda One Delivery many many times. The delivery service is excellent. This past Sunday I received the worst delivery order of my business with Panda One. It was a Tofu dish with extra vegetables. My favorite and they always do a good job. The Tofu was either old or over cooked. It was like trying to chew rubber. Very small amount of vegetables, which I ordered extra. No pineapple in the mixture of sweet and sour sauce. So Disappointing!! I don't understand what happened to their cooking skills? I would suggest a new cook because all the dishes in the past were so Delicious. . So this used to be a fast casual Japanese restaurant but I can't remember the name. Now it's an Americanized Chinese place that serves some Japanese dishes like sushi and 1 Thai entree( pad thai hand written on the menu). The decor is not exactly inviting. But it's better than some other restaurants. Very dated appearance with unusual touches like window coverings with odd phrases and very stereotypical bamboo plant and lucky cat figurine. The staff were all Chinese when I went so it might be family run. The service was reasonable although not that attentive even though it was empty. They seem to do decent take out business. First there was a bowl of fried crispy noodles with sweet and sour "plum" sauce. However these were the worst Chinese fried noodles I have ever had and I only ate one. I tried the pu pu platter since this is something I ate back in the 70's and 80's as a kid. It was much better from my childhood. This version was not served in the kitschy wooden server with flaming crystals and skewers. It was also not as tasty and somewhat disappointing. The beef skewers were new to me, as well as fried shrimp. I had the Happy Family for my entree and it was actually pretty good but not enough to offset the other food. My son was with me and had beef with oyster sauce and he liked it. Overall I don't recommend this place as it is. The food was not the worst I have had but there are many better Chinese restaurants. Even Panda Express and Pei Mei would be better options for most. I hope they work a bit more on improvement. Perhaps the menu should be simpler with less options. Chinese food is always welcome but I would prefer a higher quality. read more

I feel sorry for the folks that have given less than four stars. All I can say is their experience is an exception not the rule. This food is fantastic. I have been craving egg foo yong like I used to get back in Boston and have never found anything even close until this place. It is perfect! And I was shocked when I ordered the shrimp egg foo yong and they were very large pieces of shrimp in the patty. I have had three or four other items and they were all equally as good. Miss fried shrimp. Ordered General Taos, a fairly mainstream well-known dish on most menus. In this case it becomes popcorn chicken with fried rice. Not much more. Wife ordered teriyaki chix. Chicken is dry (old even) not flavorful. If you've eaten enough of either of these two they shouldn't be too hard to screw up. If I could give this place a below ZERO I would. The place is super dirty. The counter is disgusting as is the floor under it. This is the grossest part of my visit there. I ordered the Orange Chicken dinner special and the Kung Pao dinner special. I drove cross town with those two dinners. I served my family a plate and started to eat my portion as I took a fork full of fried rice I found an acrylic nail in my mouth!! I could have died, I've been sick for two days trying to forget the horrific experience. This means they're not wearing gloves which is super unsanitary. Do not eat here. Today I stopped in for lunch an ordered the shrimp fried rice, and what I found made me loose my appetite not only one or two but every large shrimp (about 6 of them) were very much unclean and literally filled with the black line we all know is shrimp feces. Then things got worse when I went to return the food and get my money back, the cashier lady (Asian lady on sun afternoon @ 2:30pm) could not care less and immediately took offense, gave me attitude and never apologized. This place, as others have stated isn't exactly in the best area nor is there anything about the building that makes you say WOW...but..they are one of the only Chinese Food restaurants we have found here in AZ that has an ACTUAL PuPu platter with wings, and fingers and spare ribs pieces... It was so good. Reminded us of being back in Boston. The rice was fantastic along with real lol mein not made with those fat noodles so many places out here use. The flavors were great and even something as sime as the Chow Mein brought back a flood of memories about how Chinese food was supposed to taste. I've only been to Panda One the once, just the other day. I only went in because I have been jonesing for some sort of Asian food, for ever-so-long, and there we were, my son and my sister buying themselves burgers from Carl's Jr, me being told that no Chinese food places are going to be open this time of night, or, probably at all. And, I peer out the window and see the sign, "Open", point it out, "They're open!". My heart swelled with hope, desire, dreams of possibilities ... You know, the usual things the potential for good Asian cuisine bring out in one. Shortly thereafter, we were there, I was asked if I knew what I wanted by a lady who had manned the cash register, I asked for dumplings, she asked if I wanted steamed or fried. "Steamed." , I replied. Haha Okay, that's enough of that. The price was reasonable, especially considering that, when we got home, I found out their dumplings are about twice the size of most restaurants I have gotten them from. They also tasted fresher, healthier, more flavorful and came with a lovely sauce. That's all it took. One order of dumplings and I am hooked. read more

Soooooo good. It being a Sunday, my favorite place was closed. So I drove down Oracle and found "Panda One." Strangely enough it's the same location where my favorite Chinese food take-out place once stood, Tokyo Rice Bowl. As it is, Panda One is something different. It's fairly generic inside and not particularly anything distinguishing about the decor or menu. I can't vouch for any lunch specials and all I had was a large shrimp fried rice to go. It was made up pretty quick and cost under $7.00. It wasn't the best shrimp fried rice- there was quite a few pieces of large shrimp but it did not grab me. I would consider going back again if I find a coupon or a good deal, but otherwise there seem to be other places in town I'd rather gravitate toward! read more
