Good Service and Excellent food. Best dishes: 1) Beef Chow Fun (it's my standard for reviewing Chinese restaurants), fresh noodles, tender beef and great "wok hei". Portion was huge too. 2) Salt and Pepper Shrimp (maybe this was my favorite) - very lightly breaded and fried. Could be quite spicy, but I asked for mild. We devoured this. 3) Shrimp in Lobster Sauce - the shrimp here, like above, cooked to perfection. 4) Beef in Black Bean Sauce. "Velveted" tender beef and just so savory. Just okay: Lemon chicken. Chicken (breast meat) pieces seemed just a tad overdone, and the sauce was not very lemony. I'd go sweet and sour next time and there will definitely be a next time. Very clean restaurant, nice Asian decor. Friendly staff, nice light music and a great ambiance. Food is larger in portion sizes than most places, such as 8 pot stickers vs 6. I've eaten at China Valley both for lunch and dinner and I've liked every meal. IMO their dishes taste freshly made from scratch as oppose to other places where the sauces taste like they come from a can. As to the setting is simple and clean. It's conveniently located from the hotel. It's also about expectations, everyone is under staffed, so I always appreciate the service staff who are working. This restaurant still has that old time mom and pop Asian family feel it's a definite classic type vibe with an older Chinese up front taking orders and the rest of the family in the back cooking and putting to go orders together. I've been there many times i've enjoyed Pod stickers, Hot and sour soup, wonton soup as Appetizers And a large war wonton soup Mongolian beef, Mushu shrimp mushu pork, Sesame chicken, curry chicken and Singapore noodles my favorite for dinner. It's about being realistic this is not a mall based restaurant or a high end bistro somewhere. The food was well prepared hot and delicious. I always like to support a local family owned business. The food seems to be cooked fresh. The dining room is very clean. The staff is friendly. I went on two separate occasions and ordered sesame chicken and Mongolian beef. Both were very good. The wonton soup was different than I've ever had. It had vegetables in the broth which I wasn't a big fan of. The pork pot stickers were very good. NY style Chinese food holds a special place in my heart and this just doesn't quite measure up but it is good in a pinch. read more

We are from the Chicago area & have been to a lot of Chinese restaurants but China Valley is by far the best. Small restaurant with good service and very fresh food. Everything was cooked perfectly, the vegetables were crisp, the chicken, beef & shrimp dishes were moist not dried out and over cooked. We've eaten there twice. Nothing special about the decor. Service is friendly. Both times my husband had the king pao chicken. The chicken was fried perfectly. He really liked it. The first time, I had the egg foo young. The sauce was thin and made the foo young soggy. The flavor was just okay. I'm not sure what egg foo young is supposed to taste like, but I'm searching for one like a place we used to eat in Sacramento. It was crisp and the gravy was thick. It seems every place I've had it here in Tucson prepares it differently. There is no consistent way it's prepared. I've also had the chicken lo mein. It was drowning in soy sauce. My kids love China Valley. It's a spartan, straightforward place. No, there isn't tons of ambiance, but the restaurant is clean. The servers are all friendly and helpful. I've gotten my food and the check quickly. They check in a reasonable number of times - enough that your glass stays full but not enough that it's annoying. There's nothing worse than feeling like you're spending your meal convincing your server that you actually like what you ordered. But most importantly, the food doesn't pull punches when it comes to flavor. It's tasty and close to home, and everything isn't covered in sweet orange sauce. I don't get some of these other reviews. Yesterday, not good ... again, maybe because it was Monday and the person who is a skilled chef was off? Sesame chicken was very dried out and tough ... all of it, not just one or two pieces. The pork egg foo young was actually burned in places and had a strong taste of burned food. Egg rolls were oily and pretty much tasteless. Ended up throwing away over 1/2 of it. Went with the Mongolian Beef , Ma Po Tofu and szechuan hot pot. Thought the food was pretty good although it lacked enouch of the sichuan tingle im used to eating at other traditional restaurants. They arent doing dinein right now, just take out and they dont deliver but we would definitely go back. If I was going to be able to eat in house id definitely get the chong xing spicy chicken which is one of my favorites but fried stuff doesnt travel well. She told me she was the Mgr and the owner came at 5, then she said 8. She would not listen but took my $32 for just lunch. I ordered take out through the website but the pick up and payment was really confusing. I arrived on time and called to ask if I was supposed to come in or if they would bring it out to me. There was a communication barrier and the person on the phone and I were unable to understand each other. I gave the person my credit card and received a phone call a few minutes later telling me that the order was waiting for me inside. I went inside and the gentleman that was there asked for my payment. I explained what had happened and he said that there was not a female that worked there and the phone number that I had spoken with wasn't theirs. The phone # was a Colorado number. I paid him and took my food. Now I'm watching my credit card daily to see if I'm charged or a scam victim. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken with no hot peppers, fried rice and the egg flower soup. It was delicious. I'm really picky about my KPC and haven't ordered it from other restaurants in a long time. This is going to be my fave now. This is a weird review, I know. The food and service was great! I got the walk nut shrimp which was perfectly breaded and slightly sweet. The shrimp tasted fresh and delicious. It also came with a few pieces of broccoli which was nice to cut the creaminess of the shrimp. My fiancé got the beef hot pot which was spicy and so good. It's the numb type of spicy from the peppercorn - a must try if you are a fan of spice! They also had a fish version of this which we will be trying next time we stop in. Our waitress was very nice and welcoming. She checked on us to ensure we liked our food and everything was going good multiple times. It's a great Chinese spot in town!
