I ordered food for pickup here: Peking duck ($69.95), curry vegetables with fried rice ($13.95), and warr wonton soup ($13.95). The Peking duck has to be ordered at least 24 hours in advance. The soup is a little bland, but I added some hot sauce to it at home. The duck is great; the curry is also good. The food was ready for pickup when it was supposed to be. read more

Wouldn't let me give it less stars. The best part about the experience was the Door Dash delivery. Sesame chicken was inedible. Full of fatty chicken pieces that had no spice and very little flavor. The fried rice was the blandest, worst fried rice I have ever eaten. I don't understand how it could be this bad for our go to Chinese food. The food was so delicious! Some things I ordered were chop suey and shrimp foo young. The foo young had that delicious wok flavor. I couldn't stop eating it, even for breakfast and cold! I was somewhat hesitant about eating here after seeing the 3 star rating on Yelp. But we had been driving around Tucson for sometime and couldn't agree on anything else, so Chinese at Golden Dragon it was. The restaurant is quite small with about 9 or 10 tables, but a friendly and cozy atmosphere with lots of takeout customers coming and going. Our server tried so hard to balance our initial table that was wobbly, but eventually reseated us at the larger table next to us, the only other available. We ordered oolong tea to have with our meal, and then their chicken foo young, sesame beef, crunchy rice with vegetables and chicken, and chicken chop suey. Steamed rice was also included. Total before tip: $52.84. I enjoyed everything but as for my wife; the chicken foo young and chop suey, not so much. She thought the chicken was too salty and the chop suey veggies overcooked. But plenty of leftovers for a meal the following day in our hotel room, before heading off to see Hamilton at Centennial Hall. Not great Chinese food here but definitely above average. read more

My father took me to this place near his home, and we went there, there was a bald man at the door that day he was kind of rude to us. But that's not the main concern. My concern is how I felt about 15 /20 minutes after eating here. And so did my father and later that evening so did my husband because I took him a dish to go, well something in the rice or in the green pepper meat or the lomein dish was making all of us have excruciating pain in our stomachs.. and here I am at 2:53 am still on the toilet on and off all day after eating here. I am not sure if the meat they sold was old meat or what. If poisoned or what. Or if the other people who were there that day also had this problem, I'm not sure but I can declare to you with certainty that I've eaten street food from many places abroad but it has not amounted in how I am right now. And that's speaking for myself I can't speak on the behalf of my family who's also been affected by this situation.. please be aware i hate to even write this review like this but i never get stomach aches like this after eating.. I hope they are serving quality food at least please, I like to support small family businesses but dang. These corners can't be cut like that. read more

This isn't going to be the best Chinese meal you've ever had, but just about everything I've had here is good and I've been eating there since the 80s. The lunch special was $2.95 back then ($9.95 now). The lunch specials are particularly good for the cost. You can get in and out quickly and the service is good. Order a water and it's one of the few places where you can get a lunch special nowadays for $10, and it's filling. Soup is included but not in my picture. Keep in mind the other Golden Dragons have different reputations but this one is usually the best. See the other reviews to get an idea. Tip: There's more parking behind the restaurant. Drive around and you'll see a little walkway to the front. Much easier than trying to wedge into the small spots at that shopping center. read more

Ordered tonight for the first time for my birthday. Very happy! It arrived wicked hot, even from a fair distance. All special requests were fully addressed without any hassle. Both my husband and my entree were packed tight and tasted fresh and fantastic. Hubby's seafood was perfectly cooked and my veggies were the perfect crisp tender. My cashews were soft, not mushy, everything was super flavorful, Dishes were well sauced (not watery) and I cannot believe we'd never considered mixing hot mustard with sweet sour (as recommended on their website) because it's fantastic. Our egg rolls were plump and incredibly delicious (vegetable), the order was well packaged with no spillage/leakage and I'd strongly recommend and will reorder soon. Just really amazing food, which can be so bland on vegetarian dishes. Very satisfied and the huge portions leave us dinner for tomorrow (and maybe a day after!). read more

This was our first experience here after a friend's recommendation. The inside is small but cozy and clean. I felt a little rushed by the server at first but service got better once we placed our orders. We tried the walnut shrimp and the Peking wonton soup. Though I've had better wontons outside of Tucson, these were one of the better ones I've had locally. I really enjoyed the shrimp, and the broccoli that came with this dish was steamed just right. Vietnamese egg rolls were great...but Hong Kong chow mein had very little pork and kung pao was almost all chopped celery. Too bad cause the flavor and spice level of the sauce was very good. Every single dish we got was horrible from the Mongolian beef through the house lo mein to the egg rolls. Everything was horrible.

Hunan beef is excellent. Sauce is slightly spicy yet slightly sweet. The Star is the stir fried rice with beef, chicken and shrimp. Great flavor Mongolian beef. Beef was tender, garlic sauce not spicy. Not bad just meh. The Orange chicken and beef is just okay. The flavor of the sauce is good. Very sticky and sweet with good orange flavor. The batter on the meat is light and crispy but the meat itself is dry and chewy. I've tried both the beef and the chicken and both meats end up tough to chew like jerky. Hunan beef has the same battered meat but doesn't seem to have the same tough jerky problem and I'd recommend it over the orange chicken dish. Wonton soup had good flavor. The man who takes the orders is very nice and the staff is quick to have the meal ready. Portion are good sized and not skimpy. We usually order three dishes for 3 adults and two kids. read more

This used to be my family's hands down favorite place whenever we had a craving for Chinese food. The entrees were so savory, steaming hot and freshly made. However over the years there has been a steady and consistent decline. Most notable the sweet and sour chicken has become something of an unsettling mystery, the chicken is now rubbery, odd tasting cubes that can hardly be chewed. We tried it several times in case there was just one off visit but have decided it's too alarming and distasteful to order ever again. Our other favorite entrees are just not hitting the mark. Also the prices have become increasingly higher which is understandable but unfortunately we can no longer justify Golden Dragon as a reliable source for our Chinese food choice. read more

Made an order through Door Dash, which said food would be ready in 30-45 minutes. Went to the restaurant 30 minutes later and they said food was not even started, he didn't see a door dash order. This is not the first time the amount of time quoted by them or on their behalf for food being ready was completely underestimated (also has happened when we called orders directly to the restaurant). Then the gentleman working the counter said it would be another 45 minutes before the food would be ready and showed no amount of remorse that he missed seeing the order entirely. He seemed completely disorganized. Who has 1.5 hours to wait for mediocre chinese food? No thanks: we won't be ordering from here again. read more

We've enjoyed the Golden Dragon on Sunrise and Swan for decades. But lately, and as of tonight, I am really concerned about their chicken dishes. I ordered a vegetable chicken dinner months ago and the chicken was so shoe leather weird and tough I couldn't eat it. Recently I ordered the Sesame Chicken, a pretty predictable dish just about anywhere we go, and it was also strange. Tough, too tough to eat --wiry, stringy, tough, thin, as if it wasn't chicken at all. Kinda spooked me. I couldn't eat it, though I tried. I'm afraid to imagine what it actually is, but if you told me it was chicken feet tendons or pork anus I might believe it. But it's NOT chicken breast or thighs. And it's NOT edible, even at $11.95 in delicious sauce. Don't let the sauce fool you, you could eat cardboard with their sauces. Look, I love this restaurant. Some of their dishes are the best in all of Tucson. But now I'm concerned and frightened by their chicken dishes. I hope they read this and listen: don't destroy your great reputation by doing creepy stuff to your chicken dishes.
