This might be controversial, but I think Mandarin Grill is actually quite underrated and a solid spot for large groups (I had a party of 8!) They serve all the classics at a decent level, so there's something good for everyone. Broccoli Beef is a winner here, but you can't go wrong with the lo mein either. Service is so friendly and attentive, too! The interior looks like it hasn't been updated in at least a couple decades, and I wouldn't change a thing either. I've taken my chance on a lot of random old restaurants around town, and with Mandarin I may have found a winner. read more

We walked into a clean but empty restaurant. The waitress sat us immediately which was easy. It kinda worried me about no one there; but there were numerous people picking up take out food. We received our meals which was a typical Chinese tasting dish. As we ate other patrons came and dined in. The take outs continued to picked up. I would definitely recommend this place. We came here the other night for a date. Even though it's very small restaurant it was perfect for what we were looking for. The experience was amazing. The server was super attentive. We usually order this food through DoorDash delivery. But since they have now open seating we decided to come in and actually sit and eat the food for once. And it was pretty amazing. The portions were huge. The atmosphere was really relaxing and peaceful. And I was honestly super glad my boyfriend decided to choose this place. Same great taste only less ingredients. Egg rolls seem to have shrank too. I brought this to the owner's attention on one occasion and was comped a free meal which was really professional. After working all day around the house and in the scorching sun I decided I wanted to treat myself to some yummy Chinese food. I ordered a dinner combo with Mongolian Beef and I opted for the chicken fried rice as the side and it came with a veggie egg-roll for 11.99. I was really excited because Mongolian beef is one of my favorite dishes and I know it's spicy and savory with strips of hot oil seared beef seasoned with garlic and onions and hot chili's, and it also usually has strips of green peppers. It's a spicy savory dish with almost no sugar which is why I like it. Well, this was not anything like Mongolian Beef. It was SO SWEET it tasted like teriyaki beef with scallions tossed in and wet soggy noodles? It was mush and the beef itself was saturated with the sugary sauce that was way way way too sweet. If I was diabetic it would have sent me to the hospital. The chicken fried rice was so generous it felt like they were overcompensating because they knew the food is subpar. The egg-roll was mushy and small. Nice chopstick! They did get the spicy mustard in there as I asked and it was packaged and presented securely. No spills! Over all the customer service was short and sweet and polite but the food they are serving is like someone stopped caring and/or just doesn't know what they are doing. read more

Its been such a long time since I've last left a review Anyhow, for the past few years everytime we traveled down Grant to eat at Fat man or Chef Wang's, we pass the Mandarin Grille and say we need to try it. This immediately significantly raises the price to the 'rip off' category so the food has got to be very good in order to get a good rating. As a starter we has egg rolls and fried Winton's stuffed with cream cheese. Both were soggy. The egg roll looked and tasted it was stuffed with shawarma rather than than pork or chicken. My main course, shrimp with ginger and garlic, tasted very good. However, for some reason the ample portion of shrimp were all breaded. Why7 By the time it gets to the customer it's a soggy, soggy mess. The vegetables in the dish were all extremely over cooked and quite limp. We also received hot and sour soup. Normally one of my favorites, this was pretty pretty bad. To say it was hot would be an understatement. On the sour side, the sour called in sick and was replaced with a sack of sugar. Yuck! Too bad. The place looks a little dicey from the outside.. it's not instagram friendly or anything like that. But the food was LEGIT. Their service is fast with friendly staff members. Their portion sizes are HUGE. Their egg rolls are also large, about double the size of a standard one in my opinion. Their soups are all delicious! We had their beef lo mein, fried rice and a chicken item with lots of vegetables. The fried rice was a little wet in my opinion, but everything else was great. They used too much water when steaming the rice, and it tasted very old. Re-steamed for sure. The egg drop soup, the egg roll and the hunan chicken were all somehow both bland and overly salty. The egg roll had that gooey center that indicated it was frozen. Service was just weird too. Felt like I was getting yelled at for everything. Well ... lunch today falls in to the "fuel" category as opposed to the "food" one! Had the lunch special for $5.49 with hot and sour soup, egg roll, fried rice and Kung Pao Chicken. Hot and Sour soup: Acceptable. Not particularly spicy or sour. Stir fried rice: tasty with that nice "wok" flavor Kung Pao Chicken: Meh. Not spicy at all, almost in a gravy (too much corn starch perhaps) but veggies were crunchy and there was a decent amount of chicken in it. Egg Roll: Such a grease bomb that I had to spit out the bite I took! I'd put the lunch in the carbo load category .. for when you need quantity not quality. The service was very good though and the waitress was pleasant and the food came out promptly and was piping hot! We had eaten here several times before and our favorite dish has been the Pepper Spiced Prawns. Will try it again for dinner .. lunch was disappointing though. read more

Got a delivery of food and the char siu tasted old and rotten, the crab ragoon was soggy and the cream inside also tasted rotten. The chicken was alright but there were still feathers attached to it.
