I recently got a job close by and my coworkers recommended I try this place during the lunch buffet. Since my last review, I have been around Tucson trying different Indian food establishments and I can 100% say this place is the BEST. Their food has so much flavor!!! Aside from their amazing food, their customer service is just amazing. A group of us go in at least once a month and every time we receive the best customer service. They are very nice, warm, and welcoming. If you are interested in trying this place, I would recommend going into there buffet hours so you can try a variety of their food. Delicious! This spot was popping on a Friday night and it's not hard to see why. Beautiful, clean, well run restaurant, friendly staff, great Indian food. We had the vegetable korma, vegetarian mushroom chili (I forgot the real name) and the vegetarian smoky eggplant curry (I forgot the name too). They were all fantastic, and all came with white rice. Our favorites were the vegetable korma and the smoky eggplant curry. The mushroom chili was a little spicy even though we requested 2/10 mild spice. Went here for the first time tonight! I had never tried Indian good but my friend who is from India invited me and recommended it so with an empty stomach and open mind I happily trailed along! Firstly, the place is super clean and nicely set up. There was Indian style music lightly playing over the speakers that was actually very catchy. Secondly, the service at first was a miss. My waitress spoke too softly and mumbled and slurred all her words together and I didn't find her to be especially polite. Not mean, but also not the type to give you warm fuzzy feelings either. BUT the service was saved during checkout when the gentleman working obliged my five guests by splitting our bill 5 ways after the original waitress put it all on one tab and he did it all very quickly and with a smile! Thirdly, the real reason you're still reading this review: the food. I ordered the chicken tikka masala (you can order it different levels of spicy-mild, spicy, extra spicy, etc) I got mine spicy and didn't find it spicy at all (although I am from a Mexican family where habaneros are topped on food like its salt). And it was delicious! It's tomato based but to me tasted a lot like red chile chicken. I added a side of steamed rice and one piece of naan (naan is bread and is a very good size). My friend ordered chicken curry and that was equally as flavorful but I still have to say my dish was my favorite! Can't wait to go back here perhaps for the buffet to try more things! read more

Every time I come here, I devour my food like a starving person who hasn't eaten in days. The flavors are robust and leave your mouth salivating for more. My favorite is the chicken tiki masala with basmati rice and a side of aloo paratha. I do wish that the rice was included with the dish. And the plate of rice that they provide is never enough, so you'll probably end up ordering more than one side of it. (I hate paying this much for rice since a huge bag of it from a grocery store would be waaay cheaper). Anyways, I always order the exact same thing along with a cup of chai tea. Yummmmmm.... The restaurant has a comfortable ambiance and is always filled with lots of customers. The music that they play is definitely a bit on the weird side though. I think we heard some sort of rap songs after hearing some traditional Indian music? All in all, if you're looking for reasonably priced Indian meal, Shere Punjab is worth checking out! read more

I'd had a bad experience here a few years ago that caused me to swear off Sher e Punjab, but I was really craving Indian food and there were some recent positive Yelp reviews, so I thought I'd give it another try. I have never been too impressed with any Indian meal I've ordered in Tucson - I find the restaurants here are generally overpriced and extremely chintzy on the portions and key ingredients (like chicken or lamb) with the contents consisting almost entirely of sauce. We opted for take out, which is what we normally wind up doing with Indian (I've never been able to get my kids to warm up to it). I placed my order over the phone, and the gentleman who took my order was courteous and helpful - something I don't often find with Indian food establishments for whatever reason. He was kind enough to make a suggestion when the item I really wanted - pumpkin curry - was no longer available. I was really looking forward to the pumpkin curry, but opted for the vegetable biryani, palak chana, and malai kofta. First off, the portions are hearty compared to what we've ordered from other Indian food restaurants. I'd made a big salad, expecting that our order wouldn't be enough. I was wrong. The vegetable biryani was triple what we'd gotten from India Oven and New Delhi Palace, and the main courses were about double. They were also adequately packed and contained, and they used a quality plastic container (that could easily be reused/repurposed I might add) rather than the small paper Chinese food containers most other Indian restaurants try to get by with, which always become a soggy mess by the time you get your food home. We asked for medium heat, and they delivered. The malai kofta was excellent, and had lots vegetable "meatballs" (for lack of a better word) and the sauce paired perfectly with the biryani. The biryani had lots of goodies in it - eggplant, cauliflower, green beans, raisins, nuts. It could have been a hearty dish for lunch all on its own. The palak chana was good as well, chick peas adequately cooked and the spinach wasn't overpowering like other dishes I've had. We were stuffed, and had left overs to boot. We stuck with vegetarian options this go, but I'd like to try their lamb and chicken dishes next time. Sher e Punjab, you have redeemed yourself. We shall be back. read more

Horridly Bloated. My friend and I went to enjoy the lunch buffet as we have so many times before. After just eating a little bit we suddenly felt FULL. An off feeling of full. Kind of the opposite of MSG that makes you over eat. We ate some more but not very much at the buffet. Our stomachs filled up like tight balloons. It hurt the rest of the day and all night. The Nan had a strange powder on it. So ....... we wondered if .... Well anyway, it ruined my experience eating there. We will not go back. Sad Face...... read more

Came here for a co-worker's birthday lunch. Everyone raved about the $9 lunch buffet, and it's definitely a steal. I could have gone three rounds, but we were on a limited time schedule and I didn't want to fall asleep back at work. It was crowded, there was authentic Indian music playing and nice Indian decor, so those were very good signs of a popular spot. Friendly, prompt service and a clean atmosphere as well. They have a good variety of dishes in the buffet, starting with chutneys, salad, a couple different dressings, and they keep the naan flowing. I was surprised to see chicken tandoori AND two meat curries. There were a few vegetarian options, like the samosas, cauliflower, and chickpeas, but nothing was labeled. It would be tough to come here as a vegetarian/inexperienced diner and play the guessing game with what has meat vs. no meat, super spicy vs. mild, etc. As an omnivore, I couldn't complain. My spice tolerance isn't very high, so I guess in general it helps to have labels for anything laid out in a buffet line. Thankfully, everything was spiced just right (mild-medium). I've been coming here with my friends and family for years and it never disappoints. The food is so fresh and the staff is so kind.

We went for the lunch buffet. It seemed like a one man show, with the same guy seating everyone, filling water glasses, taking orders, etc. The poor guy seemed a little overwhelmed... but there I go being all sympathetic when my water glass is empty. There was a woman who came out to fill the buffet from time to time. The buffet's size was a bit of a disappointment. I'm used to being able to try a wide range of dishes but for the price I guess it was alright. There were beef dishes, which was surprising but maybe a regional thing. Chutneys and sauces were quite good. I think I'll see what else Tucson has to offer before making another trip. read more

This is the best $10.00 buffet in town in my opinion. There's always at least three kinds of meats. We never get tired with the selection. There's plenty of choices so you can make every visit a little different. On Sundays the chef puts out vegetable korma which is really good. (It's never in option on the Saturday buffet. And there is always Gulab Jamun! I think this may be the only Indian Buffett that puts Gulab Jamun out all the time for lunch. Saffron has a better buffet, but it costs more. We went there on Sunday, over the memorial weekend. They upped the price of the buffet to $10.99. Sigh. Still good however. read more

Our group ate here about a week and a half ago and have been here many times before. I live in California, but my friends live here, and I always come here when in town. When we first started coming here, it was a small venue but with a fabulous buffet (best bargain in town!). I had not been since the pandemic but was amazed at the transformational remodel they had done. This is a beautifully designed venue. Our waitress, Lena (forgive me if I didn't remember her name correctly) was extremely friendly and personable, checked on us often, and accurate with our order. While Sher-e-Punjab still cannot have the buffet, their food is amazingly authentic Indian and tastes awesome!! Indian food is my favorite, but not every Indian restaurant makes good food. I'll preface this by saying that I'm probably a bit picky, as I used to live in a city with a lot of East Indian immigrants and a lot of East Indian food. Chere Punjab offers pretty good Indian fare. Not the best I've ever had, but good for Tucson. The wait staff was very friendly and efficient. I ordered chicken tikka masala, a side of rice, and a side of naan. She asked if I wanted it spicy and I said yes, although I didn't think it was spicy at all. Next time, I'll ask for extra extra spicy. The chicken had a nice smoky flavor, and was good if not a bit dry. Prices are about what you would expect for Indian takeout - $14 in total for me. So again, not the best Indian I've ever had, but I would go back again! read more

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in Tucson Arizona. I've eaten here 10 times before leaving this review. If you like it hot, they'll make it perfect... just specify. Tonight I tried their newly-imported Indian wine, a wonderful 2013 Shiraz. It was incredible. The wine is peppery unlike any I've ever tried before, from Cabernet to Merlot... it was fabulous! My favorite dish is the saag chicken (palak?) not sure how to spell it, but it's pureed spinach with dark meat chicken. So tender. My husband gets the dahl (lentils) and spoons it over the basmati rice. The naan breads are fantastic, all the food is very fresh. This restaurant has wonderful decor, soft ambiance, great service and excellent food. Make reservations as they do get busy, especially on the weekends. read more

Sometimes the spice levels can be a little random (super hot one time and fairly mild the next etc) but I don't mind a little heat so it's fine.
