Great service and so friendly. The crab puffs were delicious sushi roll was huge, and out main entrees were so flavorful! Both my teen son and I highly recommend this restaurant. It's small, but they pump out big flavor and friendliness!

What a great little gem ! Everything was delicious . Open late for those tea time night caps too. ( most of the other tea houses close so early ) Nearly everything can be made vegan upon request & spice levels can be kicked up on request as well . A new regular go to . Don't forget to grab dessert !

This small locally owned restaurant is very good. The sesame chicken was amazing with a nice light batter. The ambiance is trendy with a modern industrial vibe. The reason it's not a five star is the service. Don't expect to get out of here quickly. It takes time to get the food and getting things are a bit slow. Food wise it's very good and I will probably be back soon.

I got Green Curry with tofu for take out. The portion size was bigger than I expected, but was reflected by the cost. There were big chunks of tofu, which I liked. The green curry was rather mild. I prefer a little more heat. The owner is friendly and greeted me when I entered the restaurant.

I had a block of time between morning errands and a manicure appointment, and it was lunchtime. Asian food sounded great and I remembered Thai China Bistro had recently relocated to the east side of town. So there I went. The restaurant is small, located in a mini strip mall at Broadway and Pantano, with plenty of parking in front. Only two spaces were taken at 12:30, so I nabbed one in front. The hostess/waitress greeted and seated me at a nice wood table with little metal chairs - no cushions. She promptly brought me the ice water I wanted and a menu. Lunch specials change each month, and January's are Chinese (maybe other months are too, just different Chinese offerings). I was more in the mood for Thai, so perused those pages and decided on a cup of Tom Kha soup with shrimp and Thai chicken lettuce wraps. I love Tom Kha soup because the coconut milk contributes such a lovely flavor; but this broth was very thin, watery, and I expected a richer, more luscious consistency. Four large shrimp, perfectly cooked, were delicious, as were the mushrooms, so the soup was a mixed bag. The lettuce wraps arrived and smelled great. Several leaves of crisp romaine were nestled next to a large mound of ground chicken and chopped vegetables. The flavor was good, but needed seasoning and spice. I asked for some chili oil and that added some kick. The onion, cabbage, and peanuts provided a tasty crunch, but the dish lacked sauce. There was, however, a puddle of liquid in the bottom of the dish. A cornstarch slurry and some spicy seasoning could have turned that liquid into a savory sauce to tie it all together and add some heat. Again, a mixed bag. I had eaten at Thai China Bistro several years ago, at their Grant location. The service is still good and the food still average.

    Coconut Boba

Awesome little place! My daughter and I wanted something different. We came in was immediately greeted and sat. My daughter ordered the melon boba and I had the coconut Boba. The sweetness was perfect. The Bobo was soft and chewy the way it's supposed to be. I ordered the garlic veggie lunch without the rice. It came with an eggroll and a soup. I picked the hot and sour soup. The veggies were good and the soup was just delicious. My daughter tried it and she really liked it. I ordered the papaya salad. If it's not something you've ever had before, it is a unique taste like kimchi. But I enjoy it. It was fresh and just very refreshing. This was the first time I had papaya salad that had like bits of green beans in it and I enjoyed the crunch. My daughter ordered the pho. That broth is just amazing. She got it with the tofu I liked it. She probably would've enjoyed it a little bit better with beef. And at the end, my daughter got mango sticky rice because she's always wanted to try it and she just loved it. The restaurant is small with limited seating but we were the only ones in there and I was very surprised because the food is fresh, the place is clean and the people are just so nice.

I had been to the former location of this restaurant when it was still on Grant, and it simply wasn't memorable. Nothing stuck out about it, but I never made it back there. Driving around on a hot summer Saturday, I saw the new signage for the Broadway location and figured I would give it a try. I arrived right when they opened at noon, and for about 10 minutes was the only person in there, but they did a fairly brisk takeout business while I was there. I started with a Thai iced tea, and it was delicious. Sweet but not too sweet, and very refreshing. My tofu summer rolls were similar, heavy on mint but flavorful and so refreshing. I liked the crispy tofu inside, it gave a very different texture than I'm used to. I then ordered the Tom Ka soup with chicken and a side of rice. Tom Yum was delivered to my table instead, but it smelled so amazing that I tasted it. Yum was definitely the right description., and ultimately probably nicer on such a hot day, even if it's not what I'd intended. Overall I was very pleased and would certainly go back again, particularly for the hand made summer rolls.

Drunken noodles -meh. Look way better than they taste
    Kirsten D.

I was pretty underwhelmed with this place. I have low expectations due to labor shortages and challenges that small businesses are facing. But nothing here was noteworthy including the service. The crab puffs were cold in the middle and super greasy. I asked for the drunken noodles medium. They not only had no spice, they had no flavor and the noodles were all broken and sauce was lackluster. I had higher hopes for this place.

They have tofu options as well making them a vegetarian option. We ordered the Panang Chicken Curry and Crab noodles. Both were aromatic and good portions. We got two meals out of them. The chicken was a good curry with bright notes including basil. Large pieces of chicken as well as vegetables made the dish hearty. If you like Thai curry, it is excellent. The crab noodles had large amounts of shredded crab and egg. The sauce was slightly sweet and complimented the crab perfectly. Agin the amount of crab made it a hearty meal. The noodles were thin and light and perfectly prepared. Both dishes had a balance of flavors that spoke of a good chef who paid attention even in a fast paced restaurant. This is an excellent and affordable Thai option in Tucson!

I had ordered mild because my daughter only eats mild curry and loves pineapple. I also don't like spicy food. I called the restaurant and spoke to a male. I explained the problem. He told me that the pineapple red curry cannot be made with no spice. He offered for me to return the curry and they could try to remake it for me. I told him that my husband was eating it so I could not return it. I shared that I've gotten red curry at other Thai restaurants and they are able to make it mild with it tasting spicy. The man said to me, "I don't know what other Thai restaurants make red mild curry, but we don't." I asked to speak to the owner. He told me the owner was not there and asked if I wanted to speak to the Chef. I declined and ended the call. First of all, he was not really apologetic about the issue. Secondly, while he initially tried to rectify the situation, he ended up escalating it by arguing with me. My family will no longer be dining/getting take out from this establishment and will start recommending other Thai restaurants to our friends/family.

Karuna's has great things about it like the ability to get food at a high spice level (the highest…read morespice in town for Thai and on some days it can get quite spicy at the highest level of 5/5. Good place to go less spicy at if you generally eat less spice). I also like the tofu here. The food is usually good but can also be hit or miss. I find that 1 out of a few times the tom Kha soup and the curries can fall flat in terms of flavor complexity and are too salty. They are often good just not consistently. They have a couple noodle dishes that I find more consistent. All items with V can be made vegetarian. They are also very vegan friendly. Here's what I have tried here: -Rad Nah Flat rice noodles stir fried with kana or broccoli in a special gravy with choice of protein. I get mine with fried tofu at the highest spice level 5/5 or 4/5 if I am in the mood for less spicy. This dish is one of the main dishes that has been consistently good for me here and I almost always get it here. -Tom Kha soup: It is not my favorite Tom Kha in Tucson (my fave Tom Kha in Tucson is at Seasons Eats) but on good days it hits the spot for me. I get it with half fried tofu and half vegetables which they didn't charge me extra for here. The problem is that once in awhile it's less good and falls flat with less complexity and too much salt. I typically get Tom Kha soup at the highest spice level. It's still a go to for me here since it's good most of the time I have tried it and I like to get it with the Rad Nah Flat rice noodles. Pad Kee Mao: Fresh rice noodles or bean thread stir fried in red curry sauce with garlic, Thai chili, onion, bell pepper, broccoli, straw mushroom, baby corn, and basil. For this one I like to make a change to wide flat rice noodles instead of the thin noodles it comes with by default. I get it with fried tofu. This dish is fairly consistent for me and I enjoy getting it from time to time. -Yum Pak salad: Thai eggplant, carrot, snow peas, onion, broccoli, cilantro, cucumber, and Chinese cabbage in a tasty lime dressing. At the highest 5/5 spice level it definitely got spicy for me which can be the case sometimes with Thai salads at the highets spice level. but I also had it with a Poh Thak soup at the highest spice level so I think both built up for me together. This one wasn't my favorite because I am a little picky about how I like my eggplant ( I liked softer and very cooked typically) but I could see myself getting it again if in the mood, maybe at a 4/5 spice depending on my mood. I only tried it once. - Poh Thak soup Spicy soup with fragrant broth of lemongrass, ginger, galangal, basil, & lime. I get it with fried tofu. I really liked the flavors. At the highest 5/5 spice level it definitely got spicy for me but I also had it with the Yum Pak salad salad at the highest spice level so I think both built up for me together. I still very much enjoyed it and would get it again, maybe at a 4 out of 5 spice depending on my mood. I only tried it once. -Red Curry: Red is my typical go to curry I always get or at least start with at Thai places. It's usually good but unfortunately the curries here, which are usually my go to in Thai restaurants, are very inconsistent for me. Sometimes good and sometimes too salty and not complex. I tend to prefer to get curries, especially red, in Tucson at Nattha's Bann Thai. -Panang Curry with Straw Mushroom and Tofu: Fried tofu simmered in panang curry with coconut milk, straw mushroom, bell pepper, young jackfruit, carrot, chili & Thai basil. Fun to see young jackfruit on the menu here. Unfortunately the curries here, which are usually my go to in Thai restaurants, are very inconsistent for me. Sometimes good and sometimes too salty and not complex. Pad Thai vegetarian: I only tried it once here but it wasn't for me, at least that one time I tried and I didn't get it again. The sauce was too bland for me. It can get pretty crowded here on some weekend evenings as it's not a big space. The service is usually good here in my experience. I'd come back for my favorites or to try something new but I do keep in mind that it isn't always consistent with some dishes fluctuating in flavor sometimes and therefore sometimes prefer to go elsewhere for Thai. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! It's not very spicy here but consistently good. I ask them for Chilli crisp sauce on the side and love to put it in the soup too. Solid 5 stars from me for the Tom Kha soup here! I really miss their old location 4 Seasons where they had it served in a hot pot and had the picnic tables outside. At this new location now they only have disposable dishes and no outside seating. While I find the Tom Kha really perfect here, other dishes are a little less consistent for me. for example last time I got the red curry it was very watery and not quite as good. There are also some pictures of the dishes above the main counter to see what you might be ordering. The staff was very friendly and helpful when placing the order. We started with eggrolls which were more like Chinese Spring Rolls. Their spring rolls are much different and Thai style using the clear wrap and not fried. My brother had the chicken curry while I had the seafood curry and mom had the shrimp with lobster sauce. The rice arrives as a large scoop in a separate bowl while the main dish is in another bowl. They're easily mixed on the plate. The seafood curry was very tasty and not too spicy. It came with shrimp, salmon and mussels along with peppers and onions. The shrimp with lobster sauce was too much for mom so we took it home. The staff offered a box of fried rice to take home as well at no extra cost. Most dishes cost around $12-$18. I was glad we made the right choice for lunch.
