    Crab rangoons
    Celine E.

Dined at Shanghai inn for the first time last night! The dinner portions are SO big and delicious! Shared crab rangoons, egg rolls, Cantonese chow mein, and garlic chicken with my friend. About $40 for all 4 items which is a steal! It was so tasty and we both had lots to take home. Would highly recommend everything I ordered, but could pass on the egg rolls next time. Was too busy eating didn't take pics of everything. Service was friendly and quick. Ambiance is old school booth seating and cozy. Also want to mention the hot tea was so good and didn't just taste like hot water. Food came out quickly! Will definitely be back!

Shanghai inn really is a blast from the past. The quality was really good. The best dish was the shrimp fried rice! I would highly recommend that dish! The waiter was always checking in which was great! The ambiance was like the 90's and how family style places were like. I will highly recommend Shanghai inn!

    Vegetable Egg Rolls

I have walked past Shanghai Inn quite a few times and my friend and I decided to give it a try. We ordered takeout online and were impressed by the fair prices and variety on the menu. We decided to pick up our order since the restaurant is close. We also noticed there was plenty of paid street parking available if you are driving. There was not a long wait time between placing our order and picking it up. The staff were also very friendly when we got our food. It was ready when promised! The restaurant seemed clean and welcoming if you were dining in. One impressive thing about this food is that it stayed HOT (temperature, not spice!) in these takeout boxes. Almost 45 minutes later the food in the middle of the containers was still very warm. As for the taste, it was pretty good except for the vegetable egg rolls. The egg rolls were lackluster and the slaw looked like it had seen better days. Overall, we thought the food could have had more flavor. I will definitely keep Shanghai Inn in my rotation of local Chinese food!

    Pineapple Chicken

Shanghai Inn is by far our favorite Chinese spot in the city. The food and service never disappoint. We got the Pineapple Chicken(our new favorite), the Mongolian Trio, Veggie Lo Mein and Crab Rangoon's with hot tea for under $60. Since it was just 2 of us, we had plenty of leftovers for the next day given how big of portions these are! If you want really good Chinese for a great value, this is the spot to go.

MingHin was packed, loud, and a little chaotic. Worth it. Dim sum is an experience as much as a meal and MingHin delivers on both fronts. We ordered more than we could keep track of. Soup dumplings that immediately became the kids' personal obsession. Shu mai that hit every time. BBQ pork buns in every form they offered because obviously. Chinese broccoli to balance out the indulgence. Everything was solid, fresh, and exactly what you want from a dim sum spread. The room was packed and buzzing but the service kept up impressively. Servers were constantly circling, clearing empty plates and dishes without missing a beat. Clean and attentive even at full capacity, which is no small thing. Fair warning if you are bringing little ones: this environment is a lot. The noise, the crowd, the overwhelming parade of food arriving at the table. Our kids loved what they ate but the sensory experience was a bit much for them. This is a place better suited for a group of adventurous adults or older kids who thrive in high energy environments. BUT, as wonderful as the food is, the last 5 visits have been dreadful. The angry waitresses are part of the deal, but when we're spending a few hundred bucks on dinner, enough is enough. Asking for extra sauce and being told NO- asking for extra bao wrappers and being told NO, asking for extra daikon for the duck when we're given a half full dish in the first place in unacceptable. And like I said, that's part of the deal. And the food is so good that you put up with it. But what happened last week was the last straw. We ordered egg rolls, 2 large dumpling soups, pot stickers, a whole duck, medium ribs, sweet and sour chicken, and for an appetizer, a medium BBQ pork. When the server brought the pork, first, it was cold. I guess that's also the deal. Sometimes it's hot, sometimes totally cold. But this time, and I'm not exaggerating, more than half of the order was pure white fat. Not fatty pork, white solid fat. we tried chewing git to see if there was any meat, but no. So, I finally got the servers attention and showed her. She looked at it, and then walked away. I assumed she was going to bring us a new order. Instead, the owner walked over. I showed her the 2 plates- 1 plate with half of the solid white fat, and the other plate with chewed up fat pieces. Instead of apologizing and bringing over a new order, she said "sometimes the pigs we get are very fatty". So I replied something like "sure I get that, but you can't serve this to customers" and " can you please bring us a new order of actual pork and not just a plate of fat"??? and she then looks down at both plates and says "you already ate it so we can't do anything. I tell her that, no, I didn't eat anything- you can see a plate with chewed up and spit out fat, but she literally WALKS AWAY. So then of course we wait for her to bring a new order over, but that never happens. And we're loyal customers for many many years, and she knows us. This extreme lack of care for your longtime customers is nauseating. Like I said, we've put up with it for years because we love the food (as well as putting up with the many health code violations over the years), but after this huge fuck you from the owner over a few bucks worth of pork? We're done. And our friends are done. This rude pathetic refusal to admit that you're serving inedible food and take care of your loyal customers with a few dollars in pork will now cost you THOUSANDS of dollars every year, because we have now told 20 of our friends to stop going, and they all agreed with us. The Pork & Chive Dumplings tasted like something my mom would make at home. The broth they sit in adds a lot of flavor and makes the dish even better. My only nitpick is that I personally prefer a thicker, chewier dumpling wrapper. The Dan Dan Noodles were the standout. Creamy, nutty, crunchy from the peanuts, packed with flavor, and not overly spicy. It was my first time trying dan dan noodles and now I totally understand the hype. 8/10. The Xian Bing took about 25 minutes to come out, which makes sense since they're made fresh. The lamb filling was flavorful and the outside was super crispy, almost like a scallion pancake. The bread itself was softer and thicker than I expected and could've used a little more flavor. Overall, this felt like authentic, comforting food that leaves you completely satisfied when you walk out. Next time I'd absolutely order the Dan Dan Noodles again and try the beef noodles, scallion pancakes, and beef dumplings.

The dim sum offered for brunch was good as well but pricey. Especially since some dishes were only offered with two pieces. If you have a party of three then you're kind of forced into buying two of the same dishes. Which is strange. Traditionally most dim sum dishes have three pieces. Rarely see 2 pieces being offered especially for double the price. We ordered their Jiaozi, Char Sui Bao, crab Rangoon, chilly chilli noodles, and their Xiang long Bao. All were great. The chilly chilli noodles is served cold and was very flavorful. The Xiang Kong Bao was amazing. The potstickers was probably my favorite dish and it's mess up char Sui Bao. We were going to order wings but they had ran out I guess by 12pm on a Sunday. I was also going to order fried rice but it wasn't offered for brunch.
