I feel like the first hint was that all the other restaurants had lineups to go in and walking into the establishment we were able to get a table, no problem. Especially in Chinatown in Chicago for there not to be a lot of people in this restaurant kind of concerning, but we didn't wanna wait in line and Google said that the reviews are really good for this place. Mind you we did get dim sum so who knows if the regular dinner dishes would be better. We ordered the staples as attached in the photos. Everything was warm, but not hot. Lacked a lot of flavor. The hottest dish that came out where the shrimp spring rolls. Can't go wrong with those to be honest. Again, like I said, maybe their dinner is better. If I had to compare price wise, I feel like it's comparable to Toronto prices.

Was super disappointed eating dim sum here. The food was the most disappointing part, tasted no different than the Chinese takeout down the street at home. Going all the way to the city I was expecting fresh and crunchy chicken, but everything was just mediocre. You also have to constantly grab a worker to answer questions or to get service. Drinks were alright but overall just a disappointing meal for what the price is too. Definitely check out other places in the area besides this one. I think based off of how many reviews there are people automatically assume it's great, it's not.

Was craving dim sum so I went here in Chicago's Chinatown. I got seated pretty quickly despite being crowded during lunch. The server was quick and took my order right away. The dim sum was super good! I was hoping their scallion pancake would be the thin crispy kind, but theirs is more bread-y than I thought. Other than that, everything was delicious and I would definitely come back

Saw all the hype online, so I decided to order a whole spread. Visually, the table looked amazing, but flavor-wise? It just didn't live up to the social media buzz. From the dim sum to the main dishes, almost everything was pretty average. The one major standout was the egg rolls--honestly the best thing out of everything we ordered. I'm glad I finally tried it to see what everyone was talking about, but it's safe to say I don't need to go back. Cute little place and service could have been a little better..

Some of the best Chinese food I've had in awhile. You'll find staples on the huge menu plus a lot of unique items too. Everything flavorful and delicious and the food came out quick. Typical Chinese restaurant interior and typical Chinese service but you're here for the food! Great for large groups who enjoy eating family style.

Came here because it's known as one of the best dim sum spots in Chicago, but I expected a little more. The vibes felt like a typical dim sum spot. I liked the modern mini chandeliers, but the space itself felt a bit outdated compared to other spots. 7/10. Service was what you'd expect from a busy Chinese spot. You kinda have to wave people down, and they forgot to bring us water until we reminded them. The free chamomile tea was a nice touch though. 7/10. The Peking duck was mid. Texture was fine but the skin was too oily. 6/10. The XO noodles were flavorful and had a nice spice, just a bit oily as well. 7/10. The BBQ pork buns had good filling but the bun wasn't as soft as I wanted, and for $7 it felt a little overpriced. 6.5/10. Overall, not bad, but I expected more from a spot that's known for being one of the best dim sum places in Chicago.

decent dim sum for the most part. stingy on the meat dishes. pork ribs and lotus root dish only had 2 pieces of meat. 牛腩煲 beef brisket also had only 2 pieces of meat

Officially my new favorite spot for fried rice! We waited twenty mins to be seated and were able to order right away on little iPads. Everything we had was phenomenal! Came out pipping hot and so fresh and flavorful. It's quite a large and pretty loud location but I love that you don't need a reservation. Highly recommend

I would absolutely come back again if I'm in town. The string beans with duck stole the show. I ate the whole large plate! I also loved their take on the egg custard lava bun. It was more pastry than bread bun. I took off one star for both service and food. The beef meat was not good and we didn't end up wasting it. It tasted off. The food was also too fried and you could taste the oil. Anything fried, we only ate one or two bites of. For service, our table didn't have a pen so we didn't know we were supposed to mark what we wanted. When our server came, we ordered some things on a tablet at our table and then I picked up the dim sum menu and said "and an we get an order of xx" he marked it and I said "and..." but we took the menu immediately and turned away. We were shocked! Then I noticed that other tables were marking things down. I waved over another waitress and asked if I can get the dim sum menu back and get a pen. Once that was settled, we were able to order. The whole thing was clearly a misunderstanding for a fast moving restaurant but still off putting. Overall, now that I know how it works and what I like, I'll come back.

Do not be discouraged by a packed lobby! We went on a weekend trip and Chinatown was bustling as usual including this restaurant but we were seated in under 20 minutes despite a packed and intimidating lobby, especially when you're hungry! The menus are available on iPads and the staff is regularly making rounds, they're clearly a well oiled machine. The food was fantastic especially the shrimp fried rice but the star was the shrimp rolls! Extremely fresh tasting and came out steaming hot!

Great service! Walked in while visiting the Chicago Chinatown area, we were sat immediately! Multiple options on the menu, we ordered the chow mein, sesame chicken, crab ragoons, egg rolls and dumplings, it came rather quickly and was hot, however it was very greasy/oily. The ambiance was nice and inviting, but overall a great authentic experience

    Orange Chicken

I never write reviews but we genuinely LOVED this place. The most delicious mongolian beef we've ever tasted, and we loved the orange chicken and salt and pepper pork as well. What really surprised us was that the white rice came free upon request! The servers were also super attentive (walked down aisles periodically) *without* being overbearing at all (what prompted us to make the review in the first place). They were also accommodating towards my nut allergy (2 ppl made a big effort to confirm it with me even through slight language barrier). Overall one of my top experiences at a restaurant ever

Came for dim sum on a Saturday at 12 pm with 6 people and were promptly seated at a large circle table with a lazy Susan. Atmosphere was lively, with many families and large groups around us. We ordered off an iPad, and a few paper menus that you fill out. A server came to collect all our order slips and returned with an itemized receipt. The bill comes at the end as usual. The food came out promptly. We ordered a bunch of dishes and got a great variety and value for the price. I appreciated 1.5 sized portions of some of the larger dishes for our big group. Favs were the baked bbq pork buns, crab Rangoon, beef thin noodles and sesame chicken. Definitely recommend in Chinatown!

    Busy eating!!

Do they wine list or byob.?

They have wine, cocktails, beer etc

Is the dim sum served by push cart or menu order only?

    Menu order only.

Do they have gluten free menu?

No they don't. Majority of the Chinese restaurants don't

Has anyone held a private dining event here? Wondering what the cost is for the 'up to 140' guests option. Is there a price per head, and or a minimum food purchase cost for the space?

There are two floors to the establishment and I'm guessing the 2nd floor could be used as a private party. Not sure there is a way to close off the first floor for that many people. Regarding pricing, I'd imagine you tell them your thoughts on…

Is it true they put peanut butter in all bbq dishes and egg rolls? I have a peanut allergy and get frustrated when the server tells me i can't have half the menu?

No, it is not true. Edited version: I went to restaurant last night and asked if peanut butter is in…

    Do they have carts?

No; you submit your order by filling out a form (with photos!) and your food comes to the table piping hot and fresh.

Anyone know if MingHin validates parking? And where is the closest parking lot?

Yes. Make sure to show your ticket at the cashier and they will give you another ticket for you to submit upon leaving the parking lot. Up to three hours.

    Price for party of 4?

My husband and I spent $40 there. Most dishes come with three servings. You can either order two dishes for 6 people for share the dish by cutting the serving in half. The goal is to sample as many dish as you can. Plan on spending $15-20/pp there.

When do they serve dim sum?

Chinatown location dim sum hours is from 8:00am - 5:00pm OR 9:00pm - 2:00am and all other locations serve whole day.

Is dim sum available after 5pm?

Not at this location. Their Naperville, Downtown and Rolling Meadows location is all day.

Be prepared to wait a little bit for a table, or share a big one with another party at peak times. Prices are reasonable and portions are pretty generous. ===== Kind of lost count of how many times I've been. Love getting the dim sum and noodle dishes here. Some favorites: beef cheong fun with egg, siu mai, Singapore noodle, xo rice noodle rolls, spare ribs, pork and century egg congee. All the food has been very solid. Inside is always bustling and can be a bit crowded. Service is pretty friendly as far as Chinatown goes, and very efficient. There's a guy who works there who I think is the manager or something, because he puts in 200x effort and is always hustling. When he's not around it feels like something is missing. Prices are very reasonable and we like ordering a lot here so that we have tasty leftovers for later. This place has quite a few big tables and is good for large groups. My only nits are that very occasionally a dish or teacup will have a dirty spot, and that the bubble tea here is kind of meh. I don't remember exactly which one I ordered, but it was a little watery and lacking in flavor. It's also probably tough since they're boxed in by boba places now. Pro tip: When you first get your table, they'll ask you what kind of tea you want. If you ignore them or don't know how to answer, the default is green tea. Another one is to come at off-peak times. Not only will you get a table faster, but I think they tweak their portion sizes depending on how crowded it is. Definitely will be back! And I recommend you visit too

Communication was a challenge since very little English was spoken, and the descriptions of the dishes were lacking. I don't enjoy gambling on menu titles that sound good but end up being something completely different from what you expect. Some of the more familiar dishes were solid. The Kung Pao Chicken and Mongolian Beef were both pretty good and tasted like what you'd expect from most Chinese restaurants. Other dishes were much harder to understand, even after asking questions about how they were prepared or whether they were sweet or savory. We ordered the Sauteed Chicken in Hot Spicy Sauce Rice, which turned out to be very heavy on Sichuan peppercorns with a strong floral aftertaste. The chicken sat on a bed of what looked and tasted like deep-fried kale, and despite the word "rice" in the name, there was no rice in the dish at all. That's one item we won't be ordering again. We also tried the Fish Filet with Hot and Sour Lime Sauce. It was basically a sweet-and-sour style fish dish. It wasn't bad, but it leaned much sweeter than expected. Another thing to note: none of the dishes come with white rice--it's completely à la carte. We only found that out after ordering. With prices being what they are these days, it would be nice if they included at least some white rice like most Chinese restaurants do. Overall, the food wasn't terrible, but the lack of clear descriptions and communication made the experience frustrating. I prefer restaurants where expectations are clear rather than discovering surprises after the food arrives.
