was here a couple years ago and it was pretty awesome, had a dim sum craving and remembered this place served it all day last time it was fresh, but i ordered this time and it gave me food poisoning. kind of a waste of money considering how many portions i got and how much dim sum is! i kept thinking it was something else but all i've had since i went there were the leftovers and it was definitely the dim sum. they probably just left it out all day and resteamed it and served it to me. besides that, the actual food they have to make was good, but i'm giving them 1/5 for the food poisoning still

My favorite dim sum in Chicago! I love sitting at the tables furthest back from the front door because I love the natural lighting that comes in through the windows.

Came here in a Sunday morning and didn't have to wait for a table. Wanted to try dim sum in Chicago and their dim sum was pretty good. They don't have the push carts, you order on the form and they bring them out to your table. Their shrimp rice rolls were really good! We definitely over ordered for just 2 people.

Came here because it's known as one of the best dim sum spots in Chicago, but I expected a little more. The vibes felt like a typical dim sum spot. I liked the modern mini chandeliers, but the space itself felt a bit outdated compared to other spots. 7/10. Service was what you'd expect from a busy Chinese spot. You kinda have to wave people down, and they forgot to bring us water until we reminded them. The free chamomile tea was a nice touch though. 7/10. The Peking duck was mid. Texture was fine but the skin was too oily. 6/10. The XO noodles were flavorful and had a nice spice, just a bit oily as well. 7/10. The BBQ pork buns had good filling but the bun wasn't as soft as I wanted, and for $7 it felt a little overpriced. 6.5/10. Overall, not bad, but I expected more from a spot that's known for being one of the best dim sum places in Chicago.

I would absolutely come back again if I'm in town. The string beans with duck stole the show. I ate the whole large plate! I also loved their take on the egg custard lava bun. It was more pastry than bread bun. I took off one star for both service and food. The beef meat was not good and we didn't end up wasting it. It tasted off. The food was also too fried and you could taste the oil. Anything fried, we only ate one or two bites of. For service, our table didn't have a pen so we didn't know we were supposed to mark what we wanted. When our server came, we ordered some things on a tablet at our table and then I picked up the dim sum menu and said "and an we get an order of xx" he marked it and I said "and..." but we took the menu immediately and turned away. We were shocked! Then I noticed that other tables were marking things down. I waved over another waitress and asked if I can get the dim sum menu back and get a pen. Once that was settled, we were able to order. The whole thing was clearly a misunderstanding for a fast moving restaurant but still off putting. Overall, now that I know how it works and what I like, I'll come back.

Visited MingHin Cuisine on Presidents Day and the place was very busy, which is understandable for a holiday. The restaurant itself has a beautiful interior and lively atmosphere, and the food was really good. Everything we tried was flavorful and nicely presented. Service was a bit slower than usual, likely because of the large crowd that day, but the staff was still polite and doing their best to keep things moving. Once the food arrived, it was definitely worth the wait. Overall, a great spot for Chinese cuisine and dim sum. Would love to visit again on a less busy day to enjoy the experience even more.

I last came to MingHin years ago - and my experience was really not that good, but decided to give them another shot - it was so much better this time! The employees were so much more attentive and friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious and fresh. The Mongolian beef is good (not very spicy), and the Kung Pao Shrimp was also good. The egg rolls are massive and really tasty - and I definitely recommend including a hot tea and hot & sour soup in the Chicago winters! It you want great Chinese food in the city, look no further than MingHin. Glad I gave it another shot years later!

Everything was really really good, there wasnt a thing we ordered that we didn't like. We ordered way more but camera did not eat first this time. I love the variety of food and dim sum they have to offer. We went on Easter day and it is busy. I definitely recommend making a reservation if you come to eat here during a holiday. This place is also very spacious with 2 floors for dining. The second floor is for bigger parties which is nice if you want to come with a big group.

Very good dim sum in a relaxed elegant setting! We liked visting MingHin Cuisine restaurant in the Chinatown Square shops, known for dim sum and Cantonese fare. It is decorated in bright classic Chinese designs and features, and our group of eight was welcomed warmly and well taken-care-of at this 5-time winner of the Michelin "Bib" (affordable) award, among a long list of kudos. This location of MingHin is at the southwest end of the Chinatown Square open-air mall, on the first floor facing the mall's central walkway. It's about a 4 minute walk from the Red Line station. It looks like there's plenty of paid street-parking along the Archer and S. China Place faces of the mall. We made reservations for 11am and they promptly seated us at one of a number of large round tables with a "lazy susan" turntable in the middle, perfect for conversation and sharing. Anna brought us hot tea immediately, and the staff and their two-kitchens kept our table well-supplied with piping hot fresh food and drink. We made our first order in-writing on paper menus that we passed around the table. They also had an electronic-menu tablet, which some of us used during the meal. The menu was quite extensive, and I think it encouraged even the shy among us to be more adventurous :-) I'm putting *stars next to a few of our favorites, though it's not easy to un-star any of the dishes! We liked them all! We got *Pork Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao), savory and well-seasoned, enclosing a satisfying slurp of hot lightly-salty broth. *Wood Ear Mushroom Pork Dumplings were lightly-earthy and well-seasoned. MingHin's Shrimp Dumplings were fresh and tender. *Siu Mai Pork & Shrimp Dumplings had more savory seasoning. Shrimp Dumplings tasted bright with colorful Green Chives. *Steamed BBQ Pork Buns were sweet and tender and happily messy. Someone thinking healthily ordered bright crunchy Garlic American Broccoli, which we all liked. Scallion Pancakes were light and tasty. *Stuffed Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf gave us hearty chewy slightly-sweet rice wrapped in a mild tender leaf. Pan-Fried Turnip Cakes or maybe Taro Cakes are something we always get, really rather mild and neutral in flavor. Short Ribs with sweet sticky Honey Sauce were cut cross-wise so you get a string of several ovals of tender meat. *Crispy Pork Belly with Lotus Root were delicious and tender with a crispy surface, while the lotus disks were crunchy and mild. *Deep Fried Shrimp Rolls were slender rolls of thin-crispy flaky dough around delicious chopped shrimp. I insisted on Duck Wings with thick lightly-peppery Black Pepper Sauce, which were rich in flavor, though more skin-to-meat than I've had before, giving them more chewiness than I expected around the tender juicy duck. On a better note, *Sliced Roast Duck was heavenly, slightly crispy exterior around the rich flavor of juicy duck, with just a little breast-bone in there, a generous serving. *Deep Fried Sesame Balls were delightfully warm with a crispy outer layer and lightly sweet and chewy inside. *Puffy Egg Custard Tarts were creamy and rich and sweet. MingHin serves delicious fresh dim sum, made-to-order all day long, 8am or 9am to 11:45pm every day! We ordered and ate for nearly an hour, and they never rushed us. We had to work a little to finish the last few :-) We shared a great feast. I've read that the restaurant's name, "Ming Hin", could be an allusion to a dining experience that is lofty and refined. That concept is lovingly presented both in the cuisine and in the elegance of the decor. We heartily recommend MingHin Cuisine of Chinatown Square! (And we would certainly try their other locations, too.)

Food here is stellar! You'll need to come with a party if +4 to get a wide variety and enjoy it family style. Upon walking in, you'll see a vibrant Chinese decor and atmosphere filled with culture all around. Staff are engaging and quick to most guest throughout. I can see why during peak hours, it can get quite busy. Perhaps making reservations in advance would be a wise choice as it can minimize the wait. This establishment is located at the end of the plaza. Can't really miss it as it's quite large in terms of space and capacity. Did see several selections of wine and whiskey if you like to pair it with your meal. Next time, I'm coming back with a family to sample more of their awesome dishes. See photos for selections on this round. Great food here folks!

Been coming to MingHin for the beef and noodles. Honestly, that's what keeps pulling me back. We started with the beef on a stick. It was incredible tender, juicy and really well seasoned. Like... dangerously good. Only four pieces, so it was gone in no time but it was really good. For the main, we got the stir-fried chow mein noodles. This one's a favorite of mine. The noodles had that perfect mix of crispy and soft, especially around the edges. Not greasy, not dry. Just right. The sauce clung to everything, and the smoky flavor really came through. The meat stayed tender, the seasoning was on point, and every bite had something going on. I kept picking at it even when I was full and the bowl was empty. Always a good sign. The place itself feels cozy but still lively. Good for a date or with family. Staff was friendly and checked in without hovering. Just a solid, comforting meal. I'll be back. Probably soon.

I ordered take out and the food was so good! It was a lot for one person so just make sure you go with multiple people so you can share it! I really enjoyed the orange chicken though and that it came with rice already

MingHin was a pleasant surprise. The food is very good and the portions are humongous! (I like the staff too). Please Note: The regular entrees and most of the standard dishes here will feed 3 hungry people - per dish. They pile it on! The process of viewing the menu and ordering the food is a different story. Annoying! Pass a tablet around the table and add your dishes to the cart? One tablet for the 8 people at our table to share. It would make more sense to put a single QR code on the table and we all make our separate orders (under each name) on our own phones. It took 40 minutes just to place the order - then the waiter confirms it. Chances are they have what you like, but you have to navigate through the tablet menu to find it... while we are all waiting for you to hurry up. Oh, and some items are not listed on the tablet menu. Tech for tech, the QR Code parking validation made up for the tablet irritation, but that really needs to change. All in all, this place is valuable. It is one of those reliable restaurants where you call everybody and say let's meet for lunch or dinner in Chinatown... and we all know you mean MingHin, even without the name being mentioned. That says it all.

Yes. Make sure to show your ticket at the cashier and they will give you another ticket for you to submit upon leaving the parking lot. Up to three hours.

My husband and I spent $40 there. Most dishes come with three servings. You can either order two dishes for 6 people for share the dish by cutting the serving in half. The goal is to sample as many dish as you can. Plan on spending $15-20/pp there.

Chinatown location dim sum hours is from 8:00am - 5:00pm OR 9:00pm - 2:00am and all other locations serve whole day.

Is dim sum available after 5pm?

Not at this location. Their Naperville, Downtown and Rolling Meadows location is all day.

Communication was a challenge since very little English was spoken, and the descriptions of the dishes were lacking. I don't enjoy gambling on menu titles that sound good but end up being something completely different from what you expect. Some of the more familiar dishes were solid. The Kung Pao Chicken and Mongolian Beef were both pretty good and tasted like what you'd expect from most Chinese restaurants. Other dishes were much harder to understand, even after asking questions about how they were prepared or whether they were sweet or savory. We ordered the Sauteed Chicken in Hot Spicy Sauce Rice, which turned out to be very heavy on Sichuan peppercorns with a strong floral aftertaste. The chicken sat on a bed of what looked and tasted like deep-fried kale, and despite the word "rice" in the name, there was no rice in the dish at all. That's one item we won't be ordering again. We also tried the Fish Filet with Hot and Sour Lime Sauce. It was basically a sweet-and-sour style fish dish. It wasn't bad, but it leaned much sweeter than expected. Another thing to note: none of the dishes come with white rice--it's completely à la carte. We only found that out after ordering. With prices being what they are these days, it would be nice if they included at least some white rice like most Chinese restaurants do. Overall, the food wasn't terrible, but the lack of clear descriptions and communication made the experience frustrating. I prefer restaurants where expectations are clear rather than discovering surprises after the food arrives.

It was delicious, it waked up my taste buds. Sour pickle & fish fillet soup 酸菜魚片湯 $13. Very good, the level sourness was just right. Plenty of fish in the soup. String bean 四季豆 $14, it's okay. Wood ear mushroom salad 凉拌黑木耳 $8. It was not close to the expectation, it's salty for some portion, and not much flavor on other portions. There should be vinegar added to improve the flavor. Cheng du spicy wonton 紅油抄手 $10.5. Not meeting our expectations, the sauce was not close, need to add vinegar. Signature dry chili fantail shrimp 香辣鳳尾蝦 $11. Not sure why it was a signature dish, not impressed.
