Go 4 Food in Chinatown has a large menu and a reputation for creative dishes, but our experience was mixed. The service was just okay. Communication was a challenge since very little English was spoken, and the descriptions of the dishes were lacking. I don't enjoy gambling on menu titles that sound good but end up being something completely different from what you expect. Some of the more familiar dishes were solid. The Kung Pao Chicken and Mongolian Beef were both pretty good and tasted like what you'd expect from most Chinese restaurants. Other dishes were much harder to understand, even after asking questions about how they were prepared or whether they were sweet or savory. We ordered the Sauteed Chicken in Hot Spicy Sauce Rice, which turned out to be very heavy on Sichuan peppercorns with a strong floral aftertaste. The chicken sat on a bed of what looked and tasted like deep-fried kale, and despite the word "rice" in the name, there was no rice in the dish at all. That's one item we won't be ordering again. We also tried the Fish Filet with Hot and Sour Lime Sauce. It was basically a sweet-and-sour style fish dish. It wasn't bad, but it leaned much sweeter than expected. Another thing to note: none of the dishes come with white rice--it's completely à la carte. We only found that out after ordering. With prices being what they are these days, it would be nice if they included at least some white rice like most Chinese restaurants do. Overall, the food wasn't terrible, but the lack of clear descriptions and communication made the experience frustrating. Pretty good food! When we came on Friday for lunch, we were seated immediately. I dined at Go 4 Food on Friday, May 9, 2025 at around 2 pm. Go 4 Food is the place TO GO FOR some delicious Szechuan and Chinese homey foods to share with family and friends. Although the restaurant may look small and unassuming from the outside, don't underestimate the quality of the food that comes out of their kitchen. The beef chow fun, one of my all time favorite stir-fried noodle dishes, was one of the best I had because it tasted like it married the wok it was cooked in because it had that wok-hei flavor. The beef was cooked very well and it was overall a nice comfort dish that eats well with other shareable dishes. The crispy silver fish tasted light and salty, but were not as crispy as I would've liked them to be. The string beans were very flavorful and the pork added a nice salty element to the veg. The Manila clams with black bean sauce were amazing! Clams were large and plump and the black bean sauce was rich. Don't expect stellar service because it's a pretty casual establishment. There is an iPad ordering system that it was to use. We had the crab Rangoon, egg rolls, pumpkin crab soup, fried rice, lo mein, mango chicken, beef ribs and all the freezes. Food is okay/ average, prices are high. What i dont like is basic norms are missing and not communicated well by staff or menu. The staff gave hot tea to some and ice water to other tables. We were not given a choice. Menu is a tablet without details so very hard to know what you are getting. Several dishes looked similar so we had to ask staff to give insights, but was left unclear. Lunch specials are just a smaller size and does not include usual standards when you say "lunch special"; which is fine, but should be commicated. Had shrimp fried rice, Mongolia beef, walnut shrimp, French style beef tenderloins. Crab Rangoon and pan fried noodles. Crab Rangoon slightly over fried. Didn't expect pan fried noodles to be crunchy like crackers but pleasantly surprised that they paired nicely with Mongolian beef. I know some people eat Chinese food with crackers and if you do try these instead. Better than crackers imo. Beef dishes are really good. Walnut shrimp were jumbo which is a plus but overall ok. And here's the kicker: I asked for hot sauce (because a little fire helps when the flavor's on vacation), and not only did it take a while to arrive, they charged me $1 for it. Yes, a dollar. Went there yesterday after being excited after seeing good things on TikTok but as soon as we walked it they told us we had 15 min to order and eat appropriately because they had a huge party coming in yet there were literally enough open seats. After being seated we still didn't get a nice greeting and were bothered at least 3x to see when our other guest was coming when the table next to us had a seat of 4 and they were only using 2.... Never once asked if someone could be seated next to them they only asked us. They forget some of our orders and made it seem like it was our fault when the order is literally sent directly to the kitchen from the iPad and never once apologized.
