Came here after the Chinatown parade! I thought it was pretty decent and we ordered the classic geeen beans, walnut shrimp, mapo tofu, some chili chicken, and idk the rest. I really liked the tang yuan and the sesame balls at the end!

This restaurant was conveniently located on the main road. We did a quick look on here and the reviews checked out. It was clean. All of the food was flavorful. We ordered two spicy dishes and crab ragoons which were delicious. The spicy cucumber dish was refreshing and had just the right amount of heat. It had me wanting more which is always a good sign. It tasted super fresh. The spicy noodles served cold were full of heat as advertised It was delightful. The portion sizes were great for the price. The service was friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend this place.

food: good portions for cheap, might be perfect takeout chinese in chinatown, there are some other dishes i want to try service: waiter was nice and on top of service, we went when inside was empty though ambiance: pretty nice and clean for a bit more of a whole in the wall

oh Wow! I'm so glad we noticed this place! Just...Wow! We ordered the Dongpo Famous Pork - amazing pork belly dish with depth of flavor that was just so good - twice cooked pork dish - also fantastic! salt and pepper pork ribs, which I didn't like too much texture-wise but tasty taste-wise lol, but husband and two sons polished off, and Meizhou dry Chili chicken - wow thos peppers were ALIVE! We ate almost all of our food, it was so delicious even though we had just had pork buns and Molly Tea - it just smelled so good in there that we each ordered a dish and we don't regret it, though so full afterwards - we just couldn't stop eating! The total was under $70?! Did we go back in time?? Usually this amount of food would set us back $100 - we tipped well, and reluctantly left, with no more space in our bellies. We were only visiting Chicago, but wow if I lived here, I'd be eating at Dongpo Impressions often!

We got takeout, but the food still retained that amazing Chinese wok hey (aroma from food hitting a super hot pan). We ordered at the store and waited less than 10 minutes for our food. Bravo to quick service! The store has classic Chinese decor with smaller and larger tables. We had the mapo tofu, and the dish really grows on you! Everyone in Chinatown raves about how amazing bros dish is. It's definitely way more tofu, with a tiny bit of beef. Mixing the rice with the slightly mala sauce made the rice actually so addicting, and I found myself wanting to drink the sauce loll We also tried the dongpo rou, which I was really intrigued about because so many people made it on Culinary Class Wars. This was so delish, but a hit or miss. Some parts were incredibly tender, while others were much harder. Also had lots of dried cube tofu. The bok choy with shiitake mushroom was mostly bok choy, but it had that classic Chinese garlic infused flavor. Yum!!

We came on Saturday around 2 pm ish and were sat right away. Theres alot of seating for groups of 4-6 which is nice. Ambiance (3/5): well decorated, spacious dining area, but there was no music so it was eerily quiet lol. Service (5/5): our server made sure we always got what we needed. He was quick, filled our waters up, and even packed up all our food for us. Food: Xiao Long Bao (2/5): I was SO disappointed in these. The skin was a bit too thick but the meat was juicy. The broth was sickly sweet which kind of ruined the experience. Maybe it was a one off but I wouldn't recommend it. Spicy Wontons (4.5/5): these were stuffed and the skin was perfectly thick. The chili oil was not too spicy and slightly numbing. Would recommend this as an app for sure. Dry chili chicken (5/5): star of the show for sure! Chicken was juicy and crispy - the dry chili added a slight spice but the whole dish was perfectly savory. Great to pair with rice. Beef Noodle Soup (4/5): personal preference I wish the noodles were thinner but the broth was beefy, big portion, and noodles were well cooked Salt and Pepper Pork Ribs (4.5/5): I love salt and pepper things and this hit the spot. There were more bones than I expected so bite carefully. Otherwise, pork was juicy and nailed the salt & pepper seasoning. I'd take my family here for sure haha

I tried all new dishes and was still impressed by the quality of food here. Squirrel fish - they gave us 2 pieces of fish and it was crispy on the outside with a nice coating of sauce. The inside was very tender and tasted good. Cumin pork - the small pieces of pork were not overcooked and well seasoned with cumin. Double fried pork belly - intestines here taste really good. It can be a bit oily but I liked the Smokey flavor and crispy texture. Dandan noodles - great cold noodles with good sauce. No issues with atmosphere or service. The servers are very nice here.

Everything we ordered was delicious and came out extremely fast. It was off the main strip and I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a great bag for their buck with delicious affordable food. Our waiter was great and suggested some of the dishes we chose and they did not disappoint. The place was quiet when we got there which was an early time to dine but it was so nice to have nearly the whole place to ourselves.

My friends and I came here while visiting China town and it was seriously some of the best food we ate the entire weekend. The staff was so friendly and the food came out quickly! I also felt like it was reasonably priced as well! Would highly recommend coming here for the wontons and dandan noodles!

This is a hidden gem tucked in china town right by the red line station. We walked in here on a random weekday afternoon as it was suggested by some people on reddit. To our surprise, this place has some of the best Sichuan food we have ever had. We ordered the dan dan noodles and sichuan dumplings and they tasted heavenly. The ambience was like any other asian restaurant & thankfully the restaurant was not too crowded when we went, so we were served our order very promptly. I am definitely going to come here regularly for my Sichuan food fix.

Everything was sooooo good! I would love to visit Chicago again just for this place! The service was fast & food was fresh. It's looks like your regular drop in restaurants but it's definitely a hidden gem amongst the other places.

The only downside is if you want to put your name down, it's a $10 fee. MCCB has bumped up my list of Chinese restaurants in Chicago. We ordered the Dan Dan noodles, green beans, special grilled fish with mala (amazing presentation), dry chili chicken, and mapo tofu. I loved everything we ordered and the mala had a good quick. My boyfriend even said that the special grilled fish looked like an "emperor's meal." The flavors are absolutely amazing and the price is not too bad. I can't wait for the next time I go to MCCB!

Our server was really nice and gave us some good recommendations. Everything we had was absolutely delicious. The shrimp fried rice was nice soft and ... fried! The short ribs came paired with white rice with an amazing sauce. And the salt and pepper beef is to die for. The crab Rangoon's definitely had a little bit too much onion for my taste but overall, this was such a wonderful dining experience. Definitely must try. I would come back again.

I was really…read morecraving some good Chinese food but did not want to go into downtown first to pick up and then head back home so I looked this place up and had decent reviews and decided to try it out. What really impressed me was they had a specific section of the menu which was titled "Salt and Pepper". Of course I was super excited to try the salt and pepper tofu so here's what we got: - we got the salt and pepper tofu - we got the American garlic broccoli - got the mala lamb. - Got a pair of complimentary vegetarian spring rolls. When I went to pick up the take-out order, I was shocked at how heavy it was. This was clearly a lot of food. I'll start with the lamb. Very well thought out packaging, to be straight. Because the lamb had a lot of oil and liquid in it, they put it in a plastic container, which they knew is going to leak. They put that entire container in a separate tiny plastic bag and wrapped it so that the juices from that would not come all over in the main bag. Really appreciate that. Now the lamb, while cooked okay, the flavor was just, you know, it did not do it for me. Add to that they really kept the lamb as relatively big pieces. They were thinly sliced but they were just large pieces. They could have been smaller for it to be easier to eat. Flavor-wise there was just too much black pepper, which is what I was expecting, but to match that there was no flavor as such. The salt and pepper tofu was a disaster. I got it from other places. The flavor just was not doing it. It was not crispy at all. Yes I have them take out salt and pepper tofu from many other places. It does leave its crunchiness to some extent. This one had zero crunch. In fact it was weird. Every piece that was stuck to the next one had something gooey on it. Just overall the flavor was very underwhelming. The American garlic broccoli was overcooked to the extent it did not have the firmness one would expect and was overcooked to the extent where some of the smaller pieces just disintegrated. The spring roll is wild. The casing was phenomenal. It was perfect for a spring roll even after opening it after one hour. Really appreciate that. The filling, however, there really weren't many vegetables in it at all. That was very disappointing. Overall I don't think I am going to grab food from here again. The reason they get the 3.5 stars, though, is they did a phenomenal job on the packaging of all the food. The quantity was well beyond what I expected. The food, however, I have to say, was a disaster. And maybe this is my taste. It may be it's a bit too Americanized and I have not been used to eating very Americanized Chinese food for the last many years. That might be the problem.

Tucked into a no-frills corner on the South Side, Dai Yee's looks modest from the outside, but step in after 10 p.m. and it's pure magic. The room is packed with everybody--sneakerheads, nurses coming off shift, club kids, cops, and couples on first dates who somehow heard the legend. The vibe is chaotic in the best way: woks roaring, orders flying, and that unmistakable perfume of sizzling garlic, ginger, and chili filling the air. The food is straight-up stupid good. The Hong Kong-style salt & pepper smelts are crackly, spicy, and gone in 30 seconds. The beef chow fun has that elusive wok hei (breath of the wok) that most places only dream of, wide rice noodles slick with smoky char and tender flank steak. The black pepper beef tenderloin is velvet-soft, glossy, and aggressively peppery in a way that makes you order extra rice just to survive the happiness. The Singapore noodles are bright curry perfection, and the Mongolian beef is saucy, crispy-edged, and borderline addictive. Portions are straight out of the 90s--massive trays that could feed a family of four for under $15. Cash-only, BYOB, and everything comes out blazing hot in under ten minutes even when the place is slammed. The ladies running the show are legends: fast, funny, and they'll roast you (lovingly) if you can't handle the spice level you asked for. If you leave Chicago without hitting Dai Yee's at least once (preferably at 1 a.m. with a six-pack), you didn't really experience the city. This is real-deal, no-filter, soul-satisfying Chinese food that reminds you why we fall in love with restaurants in the first place. Dai Yee's isn't just a restaurant; it's a Chicago institution in the making. I'd wait in line in a blizzard for those smelts. See you at midnight.
