When I tell you this is the best Chinese food in Chicago I mean damnit I am not lying you can't go wrong with at all 5star

Since there's no three and a half star rating, I had to give this a three star rating. I was really craving some good Chinese food but did not want to go into downtown first to pick up and then head back home so I looked this place up and had decent reviews and decided to try it out. What really impressed me was they had a specific section of the menu which was titled "Salt and Pepper". Of course I was super excited to try the salt and pepper tofu so here's what we got: - we got the salt and pepper tofu - we got the American garlic broccoli - got the mala lamb. - Got a pair of complimentary vegetarian spring rolls. When I went to pick up the take-out order, I was shocked at how heavy it was. This was clearly a lot of food. I'll start with the lamb. Very well thought out packaging, to be straight. Because the lamb had a lot of oil and liquid in it, they put it in a plastic container, which they knew is going to leak. They put that entire container in a separate tiny plastic bag and wrapped it so that the juices from that would not come all over in the main bag. Really appreciate that. Now the lamb, while cooked okay, the flavor was just, you know, it did not do it for me. Add to that they really kept the lamb as relatively big pieces. They were thinly sliced but they were just large pieces. They could have been smaller for it to be easier to eat. Flavor-wise there was just too much black pepper, which is what I was expecting, but to match that there was no flavor as such. The salt and pepper tofu was a disaster. I got it from other places. The flavor just was not doing it. It was not crispy at all. Yes I have them take out salt and pepper tofu from many other places. It does leave its crunchiness to some extent. This one had zero crunch. In fact it was weird. Every piece that was stuck to the next one had something gooey on it. Just overall the flavor was very underwhelming. The American garlic broccoli was overcooked to the extent it did not have the firmness one would expect and was overcooked to the extent where some of the smaller pieces just disintegrated. The spring roll is wild. The casing was phenomenal. It was perfect for a spring roll even after opening it after one hour. Really appreciate that. The filling, however, there really weren't many vegetables in it at all. That was very disappointing. Overall I don't think I am going to grab food from here again. The reason they get the 3.5 stars, though, is they did a phenomenal job on the packaging of all the food. The quantity was well beyond what I expected. The food, however, I have to say, was a disaster. And maybe this is my taste. It may be it's a bit too Americanized and I have not been used to eating very Americanized Chinese food for the last many years. That might be the problem. read more

I'm sweating as I write this but I just got the Spicy dry pot (take out) with pork belly as the protein and it was perfect. It was spicy, numbing, salty, temp hot and overloading with pork belly! It had all the right veggies too, no carrots, water chestnuts or "brown gravy". I've read a few negative reviews, mostly of the Americanized Chinese food. I can't comment on those because I've only ordered the authentic Chinese dishes like the Mala fish filet and they have all been great. I'm a regular now and will keep coming back. This is a great spot for authentic Chinese. The young man taking orders is great as well, always helpful and polite. I tried Szechuan Corner for lunch this afternoon. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken, and it was just OK, nothing special. The only thing I didn't like about it was the chicken; it had too much breading, but it had a good amount of crisp vegetables and rice. Their "Lunch Specials" are the best bet; besides your entrée, you can choose soup and an appetizer. The menu says "soda pop," but it is separate from the Lunch Special: entrée, appetizers, and soup. I chose to eat there; the service is fast. Your entire order is on one tray. The only thing I didn't like was the chicken; the rest was OK, including the soup and appetizer. I chose the Sweet & Sour Soup and the Crab Rangoon. Bottom line: I probably won't go back. If I do, I'll order something different. No public bathroom. read more

My bf and I was in the mood for Chinese and the place we wanted to go to wasn't open so we came here and I'm glad we did!!!! Very friendly service makes this place a 4 but my dish was lacking in flavor, which drops the score. I stopped here while visiting another business in the area. Ordered my food because of the 15% off Happy Hour price advertised. Food was ready within 15 minutes. I ordered Chicken Chow Mein and Orange Chicken. I was underwhelmed with noodles and flavor of Chow Mein. Orange chicken was good. Quantity of food was great. Quality of chicken was good but Chow Mein fell short. Chow Mein was a disappointment and rate that dish 2.5. Sad when Panda Express beats them in noodles and flavor. Overall, I am not eager to try again. We discovered a new Chinese place we plan to return to. This is mainly a takeout place. Menu has a wide variety and they showcase some of their spicier Chinese regional dishes. We actually dined in and they served everything and in takeout containers, which obviously meant this is mostly a takeout kind of a place. There were other diners. We tried the dry pot of spicy meat and veggies. Forgot what is was called but it was nice to try something different. We also got their eggplant with garlic sauce and we got beef chow mein for the kids. Overall food was pretty good. My only qualm is that the food in general was super oily. If they could cut the oil in half, I think this would be stellar. Easy parking in the strip mall which is a great perk. read more

This is one of the best Chinese places that delivers to us. We've lived in Logan Square for many years now and have struggled to find a good, reliable Chinese place. There's a spendier place we like, but as a part of our go to takeout rotation - this is it. We can personally vouch for the egg rolls, crab rangoon, shrimp with garlic sauce, dry chili chicken, and sweet and sour chicken. My husband is insanely picky about chicken and really loved this place. He wanted to ensure I reviewed it because I always forget the name, but luckily remember it's on Ashland. The food is fresh, prices are reasonable, portions are fair, spice levels acceptable, and delivery is quick. It checks all of our boxes. read more

Ordered on Uber Eats and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. It will end up on our rotation of places we order from. Crispy lemon shrimp - delicious and definitely crispy despite the sauce. It was pretty sweet, but really good Moo Shu Vegetables - very good, and I appreciate when a place has authentic pancakes and not tortillas. I think there was egg in this, so just a heads up for vegans. Not an issue for us, but this was full of flavor and we really liked it. Got carry out from here and it was just ok. Eggrolls were not very crispy and filling was a bit mushy. Crab Rangoon were huge but also soggy. Chicken with ginger and scallions was delicious and the best dish we ordered- tasty non breaded white chicken and lots of ginger flavor. Kung pao chicken was fine. Egg foo young was weird- bland and instead of the usual gravy it came with a container of soy sauce based thin sauce which was salty and otherwise had no taste. Bbq pork fried rice was good. Serviceable Szechuan fare with decent options. The hot pot sauce was a touch vinegar-heavy compared to the other dry pots we have tried (same issue with the cucumber salad). Flavors were good otherwise. I wish we could customize the hot pot ingredients (e.g. missing lotus root, black fungus etc). Overall, prices and flavors were good, portions were generous. The Singapore Noodles were nicely prepared, full of curry flavor. The String Bean with Spicy Black Bean was good, but I wish the pieces were cut bigger. The Homestyle Tofu was a bit disappointing because the chili spices was far too oily. While the tofu was generous, I would've wanted more veggies. Overall, good first impression! We moved out of the South Loop to Roscoe last year, and the biggest thing we missed from being there was our proximity to Chinatown. We've got lots of Thai restaurants around, some Japanese and Vietnamese, but no Chinese - not even a Panda Express! Chengdu Impression was the closest we had, and that was still more delivery territory than takeout. Until now. Szechuan Corner just opened and it's walking distance, which got my wife and I super pumped. We went a bit overboard ordering, since we wanted to see how they were and we were recovering from a Sunday funday - we got the mapo tofu, dry pot with lamb, and General Tso's (my guilty pleasure). The Tso's had big meaty chunks with minimal veggies, which is kind of how I appreciate it. It also had a nice balance of sweet and heat. The dry pot had a huge variety of ingredients in it including beans, mushrooms, cabbage, and more. Lamb is definitely the way to go and gets amplified nicely by the szechuan spices. I wish the mapo tofu had some meat in it - I find it makes the dish a little richer and heartier, but most restaurants I've been to serve it without it. Still, it had a good spiciness and a good amount of tofu so it didn't feel like just a container of oil and sauce. All three of the items were really generous servings and lasted us a few days. I jokingly want to give five stars just for filling a neighborhood void, but really the food was good and we'll definitely be visiting again when the craving strikes. It's getting more and more difficult to find good old-fashioned Chinese American food in the Chicago area. But every so often, we have a real taste for it. We have ordered food from Szechuan Corner several times, and here is my take... Their portions are big, the food quality is very good, and the prices are great. If you order a chicken or beef dish, the pieces of meat are large and of good quality...no grizzle or fat. Their egg foo young patties are big...an order of three is good for several meals. Egg rolls are good, but nothing too out of the ordinary. We ordered three entrees, a soup and appetizer and we had enough for three or four meals. Depending on the amount you order, you get free egg rolls, pot stickers, or an entree. It's a very good value for what you pay. The first time we ordered, even though we specified mild (and yes, I know what's Szechuan food can be spicy) everything was good, but very spicy. The second time we ordered, we requested mild again, but this time everything mild, but the food was extremely bland. Wish we could find the happy medium with their food! Like a lot of Chinese restaurants, there is confusion about the rice. When ordering online, there is an option for a large rice with each entree for $1.50 extra. They do not say if you already get a small rice with the entree. So it's rather confusing...and without any more information, you'll feel compelled to order the large rice, to make sure that you get rice. Almost all Chinese entrees should come with rice, so they should state that and include it in the entree price. Both times we have ordered, there has been something missing or not what we ordered. This last time, we ordered their corn chicken soup, and we received chicken egg drop soup. The previous time, we were missing a sauce to go with one of the entrees. This happens a lot at all Chinese restaurants (there are a lot of components to each entree/dish, so I guess it's understandable), but it doesn't really excuse it. Delivery is fast, and I love the fact that you can opt out of plastic cutlery, napkins and all of the other things that restaurants tend to throw into carry-out/delivery bags. read more

Some dishes are great, good portion sizes. My only constructive feedback is a lot of dishes taste the exact same. I had hunan chicken and it tasted just like the Szechuan chicken. So unless you're getting something breaded, or their dry chili, many things are going to taste similar. read more

THAT is how you do it. So good, so good when it hits your lips. Was looking for some Chinese food locally and this new spot popped up. Admittedly, I had seen it show up before when it had less reviews and so I didn't take it seriously. That was foolish of me. If only old me knew what new me knows... I'd slap the Szechuan outta the old me to have been able to try this place sooner. The portions were large, the cuts of meat seemed better than most Chinese spots I'm used to. We had the Szechuan beef, three chili chicken, kung pao chicken and combo chow mein. I was blown away at the flavor profile of each of the dishes. They gave my wife and me four sets of chopsticks (yes, that means they expected four people to eat this meal). But, alas- it was just my fat ass and my wife. Indeed, i did get four fortune cookies out of it, too. We have leftovers for days and I'm stoked bc even as leftovers this will spank.
