This place is amazing! Food is perfectly seasoned. Just the right amount of sweet, spicy, salty and sour. I'm a vegetarian and the options are pretty great. Usually that is something I struggle with when going to eat. This place has easily become my go to for Asian food. They also have fresh fruit smoothies with tapioca! I'm excited every time we go there to eat because I must get one. TheyreDELICIOUS! In regards to the location, it's a small place. Very clean and the person who owns it is the best. Dropped in to get everyone some bubble tea late at night and ended up getting the fried soft shell crabs out of curiosity and was delighted by how good it tasted. The person taking our order was very nice and polite and made sure we all got what we ordered even though it was late at night and they were quite busy filling call-in pick-up orders. Min Min Asian Cafe has one of the best honey walnut shrimp dishes in all of Chicago. I've tried many honey walnut shrimp dishes in Chicago and Min Min's does it right. They have a special batter that is so light yet so crispy. The sauce is a perfectly sweet and citrus combination. I' can't get enough of their sauce it's so good and I hope they put more on it! Their portions are very sizable and worth the money for the large size shrimps. The walnuts adds some excellent texture and crunch to a rich a sweet dish. This dish elevates the the restaurant and can compete with very highly rated restaurants that don't come anywhere close to the amazing honey walnut shrimp at Min Min Asian Cafe. read more

First time back in a Reaturant after more than a year, service was good and friendly. The food was good but not great. We had two appetizers, pot stickers, fried, overdone and no special sauce. The carrot and cucumber salad was bland and looked like it was just thrown together. For main courses we had the chicken and green curry which was tasty and coconutty. And a large bowl of chicken Phô, generous portions but bland and there was no red pepper oil to give it a boost. In terms of cleanliness, it looked good, but the woman cleaning the tables with a wet rag was wearing rubber gloves which she didn't remove when delivered our water and utensils. Took out from Min Min for the first time today. Ordered online & food was ready on time. Nothing was left out of the order (which happens sometimes with take out) & all of our food was nice & hot. I ordered Singapore rice noodles which were tasty & not oily at all. My husband had Vegetable red curry & my son had Sesame chicken. Every one liked what they had. Min Min is fast food Chinese - Asian fusion take out. Its highlights are the myriad of Asian fusion entrees and late night hours. They operate a storefront on a quiet stretch of Irving Park road and offer a couple tables for dining, however, often times are occupied by staff. Which makes it more of a takeout kinda spot. Food quality is hit or miss. I've had late night carryout twice and been both surprised and discontent. Almost a year ago I ordered carryout for the first time. Pepper steak over rice and some potstickers. I was delightfully surprised with the freshness and quality. Not to mention, the food was ready faster than quoted.The potstickers were large, packed with protein and with all that spongy goodness. At the time I had thought, had I just had the potstickers and an order of eggrolls I wouldn't have needed the entree. Then some months passed and on a recent late night visit decided to grab takeout. This time around, I asked for a recommendation and the phone person suggested spicy orange chicken. She joked that everyone asks for it. I asked about Governors chicken and she said that it's the same dish with a different name... (Wuh..!) I decided to get Governors, extra spicy and an order of potstickers. Between the two entree names, I figured Governors would be less sugary. False. This was dense, all breading and sugary. #Notgood This time around the potstickers were not fresh. They tasted microwaved and its outsides rubbery. Does anyone look at the quality before packing?! It was t e r r i b l e. The entree too, was so awful I kept repeating to myself how horrible it was. "This is not good. This is not good at all. It is lousy. It is terrible". A chant that stopped me from eating anymore. I wish I could have returned it and gotten my funds back. The chicken was stringy and hard. Felt like poor quality meat, which was frozen and over fried with too sweet a sauce. The only thing fresh about it was the veggies. Green pepper, onions and carrot. Blech. What happened to Min Min? Or is it best to order items that are not breaded or oversauced? In any case, this is now as good as any FF Chinese takeout. I'm beside myself whether to post a 2 or 3 star rating. read more

This review is only for their Freeze Drink, of which I was a big fan. It's a good change of pace from a regular bubble tea, almost reminding me of a smoothie, and is very refreshing. This was also my first time trying "popping boba," which was essentially boba with fruit juice inside, but it was really good and I'd probably elect to sub it for regular bubbles again. I've ordered from here twice (for late night delivery) and both times I was mildly disappointed. First, I'm always missing items, and it's usually the items I'm most eager to get (the crab rangoon or lo mein). When I call, I've just been told they are "sorry" but they do not plan on sending someone out to deliver the missing items (that is if they ever answer the phone at all.). Second, both times the items were packed in broken containers. All of the lids were missing corners that looked like they were hacked off with a knife. So when I opened the bags, there were sloshy messes of sauce everywhere. Since I am always missing items and always getting soggy bags, I've decided to not order from here anymore. It may be a different experience for those dining in, but for delivery I would never suggest this location. I hope they will work on their delivery problems. read more

But I just got delivery from this place and it's really good!! I really appreciate that my food came hot, tasted fresh, and was packed extremely well. And the portions are really big. I ordered the thai red curry, tom yum soup, basil chicken over rice, crab rangoon, and milk tea. I do have to mention that the tom yum soup was less sour than what I'm used to at a Thai restaurant, but I don't mind since everything else was delicious. I don't like ordering from places that serve both food and bubble tea since they're never both that great, but the milk tea totally surprised me! We love Min Min. When we've had a long day, we order from here. We always get the Szechuan Green Beans, Spicy Orange Chicken, Egg Rolls, Veg. Fried Rice, and Potstickers. Late delivery is always a huge plus and the drivers have always been efficient, kind, and appreciative. Cannot say enough good things about this place. The chicken pieces are huge, the potstickers are juicy, and the green beans haven't ever been over or undercooked. We moved to Chicago last year and this has become our go-to for food delivery. Ordered from here online one night and was so disappointed. First of all, I had ordered chicken lo mein and ended up with a bland chicken pad thai. I love pad thai, so I would have been fine with just having my order mixed up, but it felt like they had run out of lo mein noodles and used pad thai noodles instead, which just didn't work with the flavoring. I had some peanut sauce in my fridge and adding that made this edible. I had also ordered some seafood noodle dish that was absolutely disgusting. It was so bad that I asked for and received a refund. I have only done that one other time, and it was with an omelette that was so burned that it melted the Styrofoam container it was in. I hope my experience was just a one-off and not representative of this restaurant. read more

Boba freeze fruit and milk tea drinks are very well done at Min Min. Real fruit is used, and the tea is brewed strong. Their food menu is extensive so I imagine they can't be great with everything they make. We ordered a few things from the Chinese options: pot stickers, Japanese tofu with minced pork, and Garlic Chinese broccoli. I really appreciated the option of Chinese broccoli - it seems more authentic to me. Flavor was great, and it was my favorite among the three. The Japanese tofu was very silky, but the sauce was a sweet chilli that seemed pretty generic. It was fine, but probably not a repeat for me. I would have thought that pot stickers would be standard stuff. These had super thick skins and flavorless meat. It was almost as if someone forgot to add salt and spices so I did no enjoy them at all. There were only 4 small tables and bar seating so this place is better for take out than dining in. A more accurate rating would be 3.5 stars, but rounded up for the great drinks. read more

My opinion is that the Lakeview area is *severely* lacking in good, cheap Chinese food that delivers. There hasn't been any place in my neighborhood that has been consistently better than average (House of Wah Sun on Lincoln came closest). That is, until Min Min Asian Cafe opened recently. I've had 3 takeout meals for my family of three, and everything we've ordered has been very good to excellent. Best Crab Rangoon ever (I don't normally like it), best fried rice, some wonderful Vietnamese options like Pork and Shrimp in Fish Sauce. Reasonably priced as well. I'm looking forward to trying some of their Korean and Thai options as well. I'm confident I'll like them because they use high quality meats and seafood and fresh veggies, all competently cooked. Min Min is right around the corner so I always pick up our food and cannot comment on how efficient their delivery is. read more

WOW just wow. Absolutely delicious. I ordered the tomato and pepper beef and an appetizer. I forget the name of the appetizer but it's strips of chicken on skewers. Hmm...hit or miss at best. What works: I love their lo mein. It's a no frills, classic but tasty dish. Their drinks are awesome! I usually get a freeze--smoothie (try the avocado for something a little different). They also have a ton of flavor combinations. I also tried the coconut bubble tea for the first time last night, and it's quite tasty! They didn't skimp on the tapioca pearls, either. What didn't work: I had a pretty crappy meal last night. Very disappointed in the food. The potstickers were enormous, but were HEAVILY wrapped in a thick, greasy, dough. It didn't taste fully cooked, and tasted more like fried bread dough than a dumpling. I had to take the meat out to make it remotely edible, but even that was off-putting flavor-wise. Orange chicken was largely breading and waaaay too sweet and over-sauced. I also asked for medium spicy, and I didn't get a hint of spice. I'm hoping this was a fluke, but not a pleasant dining experience. read more
