I love YooYee. I live less than a block away, so I have a pretty good tempo on the busy-ness of this business, and I can confirm that they are always busy. Unless you plan to show up exactly as they open, you must be prepared to wait. There are no reservations either, so you will wait. I love the scallion panckaes. The beef soup and general tso were not my favorite. Salt pepper tofu was nice, and surprisingly spicy for a sauce-less item. I still have a list of items I can't wait to try. Needed to wait about 20 minutes but luckily there is both parking and a plaza to kill the time next door at the Tai Nam market center The pork ribs hand pulled noodles itself felt authentic - the noodles were wide and cooked to the perfect texture. I've been meaning to try Yoo Yee for some time and got my chance a few days ago. I'd like to point out a few things I deem important. Not only that, but I took a photo of the front of the restaurant because it can be confusing, since all the storefronts are lined up one after another. The enclosed photo was taken right in front of the business. Look for 4925 "E"; it sometimes looks closed. When I visited Yoo Yee, it was a little after 3 PM, and the waiter said we're closed until dinner time. Even though it says open 11: 30 to 9:30, the waiter said you have to wait about another 30 min before we reopen? ​ I ordered the Spicy braised beef; it was perfect, with plenty of homemade noodles. It can be a bit much if you're not used to the heat. The bowl is so big that you could share it with another person and an appetizer. We walked in right when they opened and they told us that there's a 15 to 20 minute- wait because the staff is eating first. We were seated right away while we waited so that's the good part. Quite possibly the most perfect winter meal. We ordered Yoo Yee for delivery and I'm happy to report I've discovered my new favorite Chinese take out spot in my neighborhood! The star of the show is the spicy braised beef brisket soup. Tender beef in a yummy, spicy sauce with chewy hand pulled noodles. SO GOOD! The pork wontons and fried string beans came in a close second place. I eat here at least 2-3 times a month, I literally cannot get enough of Yoo Yee. I have absolutely no complaints about the food or the service, both are always incredible. The one thing that does get me, consistently, is the wait. Yoo Yee has become so saturated with wannabe influencers and rightfully so, the food really hits. Lately, I tend to opt for delivery via Uber Eats more than going in to sit because you just never know what you are walking into. There really isn't a specific ambiance here, it's very casual and clean, in a lot of ways also very bright, but it has never bothered me any. If you choose to go in person, which I think you should at least once, be prepared for a 30-45 minute wait. The second time, I just asked to sit at the bar and was seated immediately. The popcorn chicken is soooo good, I love the spice on it and it's just so crispy. Chili oil fish was also good but the longer it takes to eat it the more spicy it gets. Beef hand pulled noodles are also so yum, the spicy one is more flavorful but I don't handle spice too well. Every time when we passed by this restaurant, we always saw a ton of people waiting for a table and dining there. By the third time, we decided to check it out and see why the restaurant is so popular. On an exceptionally cold and snowy winter day in Chicago, we decided to make the drive here since we figured it wouldn't be as busy or as long of a wait. However, we were dead wrong even arriving around 6pm! They do not take reservations, but you enter your name and party size in the tablet and then wait. Our wait time was about 45 minutes - 1 hour, but we did end up getting seated a little earlier than that by opting for the bar seats instead of a normal dining table. The spacing at one of end of the bar (closer to the wall) is VERY tight. The guy next to me required me to get up out of my seat and move my chair in order for him to sit or leave. We ordered the following: - Original braised beef brisket hand pull noodle soup (the best dish that we had that would keep us coming back and probably one of the best in Chicago!) - Fish filet w/ pickled vegetable soup (this was tasty but super spicy! I made the mistake of slurping this soup initially that ended up giving me a coughing fit lol) - Double cooked pork - Eggplant with garlic sauce - Ube coconut ice cream - Coconut w/ mango jelly (I didn't taste the mango flavor much, and the coconut flavor was light) Out of all the dishes that we ordered, we would definitely order the braised beef brisket noodle soup again although we may try the spicy version next time. It was still packed when we returned, and even more people were waiting to get in. I had the Hunan Beef, and it was quality, the sauce/gravy was flavorful from all the peppers and broccoli. I went on a spur of the moment decision, and while it was a bummer that they don't do reservations, they were super helpful and fast with their waitlist. The service was on the disappointing side, we had multiple dishes that we kept trying to get the status of and they came out near the end of our meal. One of my new favorite finds! The food was so good! I loved the shrimp vermicelli and recommend it to all! It is garlicy perfection and as someone who loves garlic, shrimp, and noodles, I couldn't get enough! We also ordered the wontons and chili oil, beef hand pulled noodle soup, and sweet-skinned duck. We definitely over-ordered, but I was super happy to have leftovers! The wontons were great, and I recommend letting them soak in the chili oil for maximum flavor. The hand pulled noodles were fabulous! The broth was a bit sweet, so I would potentially opt for a spicier broth next time to see if it cuts some of that but still super great. The duck had good flavor as well, I was just not expecting it to be so boney. Not a detractor, just a good to know! Service was speedy too, so food came out quickly even when they were super busy. I will say, it is a smaller space, so I recommend going earlier in the evening to avoid a longer wait (though it is totally worth the wait!) I will definitely be back! read more

Went by myself and got a bar seat in 5 min (cue lucky girl syndrome lol)- my friend went in a group and said she had to wait hours. Food came out super fast. Cucumber salad was fresh and a good palette cleanser. I was debating between the duck and hand pulled noodles but got the noodles this time and they were cooked well and not gummy. Love how tender the beef was and the broth was light, but not as rich as Taiwan beef noodle soup. Only thing I didn't like were the sesame seeds just swimming in the soup. Pretty quality food and decent ambiance in a good spot not far from the Argyle red line stop. Even on a weeknight at 7 be had to wait almost an hour to get seated. Also BYOB with no corkage fee. Everyone's favorite was the Spicy Braised Beef Brisket Hand-Pulled Noodle Soup - it was soo good. The noodles were really soft and tender, you could tell they were homemade and there was a decent amount of beef. The scallion pancakes were the best app we got. They were really flavorful and you got a lot. The string beans were also a really good side dish. Not too spicy and good seasoning. The dumplings were tasty but really thick and doughy which can be good, but was a little heavy. A lot of people liked the mapo, but the Szechuan spice was way too much for my low spice tolerance. The popcorn chicken wasn't actually that spicy if you just stuck with the chicken, but then it was kinda just fried chicken. The Dan Dan noodles were pretty good, but the more I ate the pepperier I felt like they got. read more
