Original Braised Beef Brisket Hand Pull Noodle Soup

Second time visiting. The food is delicious and flavors were authentic although some of the dishes seemed overly salted the second time around. Both times we went the place was packed - it's a small space so if you are going on a Saturday around dinnertime prepare for a 45 min - 1 hour wait. Ambiance is nice - nothing fancy but the area is clean and well-lit. Recommend the beef noodle soup (hand-pulled noodles), Xinjiang lamb, and sweet skinned duck. Other dishes we ordered were still good but nothing noteworthy. I would not get the Peking Style Shredded Pork w/buns again though- the paste was pretty salty and moreover, it did not have any sweet bean sauce that is the standard flavor for this dish. Bonus: Until they get their liquor license they are currently BYOB and no corkage fee

Was in the Argyle area and decided to come to Yoo Yee to try their hand pulled noodles and needless to say, my noodle cravings were satisfied We went in the afternoon on a weekend and it was one of the more popular restaurant in the area. Needed to wait about 20 minutes but luckily there is both parking and a plaza to kill the time next door at the Tai Nam market center The pork ribs hand pulled noodles itself felt authentic - the noodles were wide and cooked to the perfect texture. The broth had a decent kick to it but no where near as spicy as I expected. Regardless, it was super flavorful and would say it was more savory than it was spicy Because they were fully serviced, it was pretty loud in there but our waiter still was able to take our orders in a timely manner and keep us taken care of. I would come back to Yoo Yee to try the beef noodles and other menu items next time - im not from the north side but it felt like a great place to offer Sichuan cuisine to those in an area without many other options

I've been meaning to try Yoo Yee for some time and got my chance a few days ago. I'd like to point out a few things I deem important. Not only that, but I took a photo of the front of the restaurant because it can be confusing, since all the storefronts are lined up one after another. The enclosed photo was taken right in front of the business. Look for 4925 "E"; it sometimes looks closed. When I visited Yoo Yee, it was a little after 3 PM, and the waiter said we're closed until dinner time. Even though it says open 11: 30 to 9:30, the waiter said you have to wait about another 30 min before we reopen? I ordered the Spicy braised beef; it was perfect, with plenty of homemade noodles. It can be a bit much if you're not used to the heat. The bowl is so big that you could share it with another person and an appetizer. It's a "no-frills" restaurant with pleasant fast service with contemporary music in the background. I will definitely go back.

The food is always great here and one of my favorite spots in Chicago that I will always suggest to folks who visit. 10/10: scallion pancake - light and crispy 9/10: braised beef hand pulled noodles - noodles are delicious! -1 bc I'm not a braised beef person haha 9/10: popcorn chicken - love the spice 9/10: pork belly with garlic sauce - I'm typically not a pork belly person but it surprised me! The service is always quick and superb. Restaurant and bathroom is always nice and clean! It can get busy so plan to be on a waitlist!

I love this place! I've been twice already and it did not disappoint. There's usually a waitlist so I went a little earlier, then I was planning to eat and had to wait about 30 minutes. The second time, I just asked to sit at the bar and was seated immediately. The popcorn chicken is soooo good, I love the spice on it and it's just so crispy. Chili oil fish was also good but the longer it takes to eat it the more spicy it gets. Beef hand pulled noodles are also so yum, the spicy one is more flavorful but I don't handle spice too well. Beef and onion was actually so flavorful and although doesn't look like it, it's still numbing spicy. Would definitely recommend coming here if you're a fan of numbing spice and good Chinese food!

The best thing I did directly after getting off my flight to Chicago was to go to Yoo Yee for lunch. Everything we got was so incredibly flavorful and hit the spot. The noodles were chewy, wontons filled with meat, and lamb cooked so authentically. The spice level is not very spicy though, at least not for me (I'm from the west coast) but I loved every bit of the savory, sweet, and tartness that each dish had to offer. The service was very fast and attentive with filling our waters. Overall a great lunch!

I cannot wait to go back! My friend and I met here for early dinner after work. We walked in right when they opened and they told us that there's a 15 to 20 minute- wait because the staff is eating first. We were seated right away while we waited so that's the good part. I wanted everything that I saw on the menu but for this first visit, we tried: Wontons in Chili Oil Sauce, Spicy Braised Beef Brisket Hand Pull Noodle Soup, and the Sweet-Skinned Duck. They were all prepared well, so delicious and flavorful. I will definitely go back to Yoo Yee and try other dishes. The service that we received was very efficient and pleasant. The place is not too big, but we got seated right away because we went there on a weekday at 4pm. 'Til next time :)

Quite possibly the most perfect winter meal. We ordered Yoo Yee for delivery and I'm happy to report I've discovered my new favorite Chinese take out spot in my neighborhood! The star of the show is the spicy braised beef brisket soup. Tender beef in a yummy, spicy sauce with chewy hand pulled noodles. SO GOOD! The pork wontons and fried string beans came in a close second place. The wontons are served with a sweet/spicy sauce that was so flavorful and the green beans are a very large serving and fried to perfection. The only dish that didn't totally wow me was the lo mein. I would probably pass on this next time around. Everything was packaged super nicely and delivered well. I would love to dine in sometime soon to get the full experience!

Absolutely blown away. They don't take ressys here so I would recommend coming at an off time if possible because they do get super busy. The mapo tofu was amazing! It was spicy and had the classic numbing flavor you expect from sichuan peppers. The chickpea hand pulled noodles were my favorite part of the meal. The noodles were bouncy and the broth was umami and had a great sesame flavor. My fav restaurant in argyle area by far!

Take this review with a grain of salt. Because some in our family cannot eat spicy, we got less spicy less numbing versions of all the dishes. I really want to come back and try the authentic versions of the dishes. I hope that I can raise my rating to a 5/5 next time - I definitely see the potential. Eggplant w Green Pepper / 擂椒茄子 (8/10): The texture of the eggplant was very good. Perfect amount of chew. The sauce was packed with flavor, and there was a nice amount of spice. Fish Filet w Pickled Vegetable / 老坛酸菜鱼 (7/10): I feel like it would have been better if we requested full spice, but it was still pretty good. The fish was tender. The soup was SUPER savory. Chongqing Popcorn Chicken / 辣子鸡 (5/10): This dish was severely lacking in both spice and numbing. That aside, it was still lacking in flavor. The chicken was nicely fried to a crisp, so that was good. Peking Style Shredded Pork / 京酱肉丝 (7/10): Solid dish. Meat flavor was pretty good. Dry Sizzling Pot Cauliflower / 干锅有机花菜 (6/10): Lacking in flavor and spice. Cauliflower texture was pretty good. Sauteed String Beans / 干煸四季豆 (8/10): Texture on the string beans was amazing. Very flavorful. ~DESSERTS~ The desserts were made by another restaurant, but they still deserve mentioning. Milk Custard / 双皮奶 (9/10): I've never had anything like this, but apparently it's very popular in Beijing. It's so good!! Peach Gum and Grass Jelly / 桃胶仙草大满贯 (8/10): This reminds me of a dessert you'd find at Meet Fresh. Also quite good. There's always a huge wait so try to come during off hours. Service is good despite them being swamped all the time.

Happy Lunar New Year! We ordered with our eyes haha. Wow, I'm in lost of words because this is my new favorite restaurant in Chicago! We ordered the pan fried pot stickers, crispy tofu, spicy braised beef brisket hand pulled noodle soup, green beans, and chongqing popcorn chicken. Also ordered Yuzu soda on the side! The potstickers were not my favorite. It was so doughy and I barely got any of the filling. I only got dumplings because of lunar new year so skip the dumplings. The broth for the beef brisket was amazing. I absolutely love Szechuan style food and loved the noodles and the broth. So so so delicious. The green beans are a hit (because you have to get a veggie dish). I really liked the crispy tofu because it was soft in the inside. The popcorn chicken was okay and I thought there would be more flavor. Overall, loved YooYee so much!

    Shrimp dish - yuck

Not sure what all the fuss is about. Maybe I ordered wrong? I'd say half the dishes I go were gold and half were almost inedible. Nothing blew me away though. Pork Ribs with crispy garlic was just terrible. Pot stickers were very average and the sauce they came with was bad. Cucumber salad super tasty. Scallion Pancake - just greasy as hell Chicken Spring Roll - tasty Fish Fillet with Green Peppercorn Soup - good and tongue numbing Stir Fry Lamb Chops - weird flavors, pass Mongolian Beef - average Not worth the wait in my opinion. Maybe I'll try it again at some point and order more noodle dishes. That seems to be what a lot of people love there.

Yoo Yee is a welcome sight to the Argyle food scene Since they took over the location, the space is clean, modern, and fresh The soup is exactly what you'd want on a cold day however the 2nd time I came and ordered it was weirdly room temp? The eggplant with garlic is just ok the cold version, eggplant with green pepper is better but the green pepper flavor can be a bit overpowering The crispy pork ribs are my fav and you can eat the garlic crisps on your rice for extra flavor and crunch If you like walnut shrimp, their crispy shrimp is HUGE and very cronchy Service is pretty quick and efficient once you get seated Come during an off hour like linner time during the week to avoid a long wait

We ordered like the PERFECT amount of food and best variety. Roast duck: I honestly don't know if I've ever had duck before, but I'm a duck believer now. The skin on theirs was the perfect crispy shatter texture and the duck was sooooo juicy! I don't know why I was always so worried about it being gamey. They give you fluffy steamed bao buns, a sauce, and scallions on the side as well as duck fried rice! Turnip cake: Obviously a must any time I come to dim sum. I've never seen turnip in any other form than this. Japanese salt & pepper tofu: My FAVORITE dish ever. Any fried salt & pepper tofu always makes me happy. They use a creamy egg-like tofu and the outside is lightly crispy with amazing aromatics stir fried in. Steamed white rice on the side is perfect with this. Loved everything else my dinner buds picked and we were super full by the end! Service was good and food came out fast and scorching hot! ***Parking in the area is treacherous (not the restaurants fault, but reconsider driving if possible bc cell signal can be zero to none around the garages if you get lucky) ***Their website allows you to request a reservation as long as it's 3 hours before your desired time. I went with someone who knows the city well, and they recommended the duck fried rice. I had never tried it before, and it was absolutely delicious so flavorful and satisfying. We also ordered the wonton soup and egg rolls, and both were really tasty. Everything came out quickly, and the service was warm and efficient, which made the whole experience even better. The prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food, and I'm already looking forward to bringing my friends and family here next time. Great food, great service, and a place I'm excited to come back to!

This is a tough one. Not happy at all. With all of the wonderful legendary Chinese places closing…read moreover the past few years (Kow Kow, Hong Min, Pekin House, and even the best egg rolls at Mee Mah), Sun Wah has been solid over the years- their whole duck is legendary and incredible. BUT, as wonderful as the food is, the last 5 visits have been dreadful. The angry waitresses are part of the deal, but when we're spending a few hundred bucks on dinner, enough is enough. Asking for extra sauce and being told NO- asking for extra bao wrappers and being told NO, asking for extra daikon for the duck when we're given a half full dish in the first place in unacceptable. And like I said, that's part of the deal. And the food is so good that you put up with it. But what happened last week was the last straw. We ordered egg rolls, 2 large dumpling soups, pot stickers, a whole duck, medium ribs, sweet and sour chicken, and for an appetizer, a medium BBQ pork. When the server brought the pork, first, it was cold. I guess that's also the deal. Sometimes it's hot, sometimes totally cold. But this time, and I'm not exaggerating, more than half of the order was pure white fat. Not fatty pork, white solid fat. we tried chewing git to see if there was any meat, but no. So, I finally got the servers attention and showed her. She looked at it, and then walked away. I assumed she was going to bring us a new order. Instead, the owner walked over. I showed her the 2 plates- 1 plate with half of the solid white fat, and the other plate with chewed up fat pieces. Instead of apologizing and bringing over a new order, she said "sometimes the pigs we get are very fatty". So I replied something like "sure I get that, but you can't serve this to customers" and " can you please bring us a new order of actual pork and not just a plate of fat"??? and she then looks down at both plates and says "you already ate it so we can't do anything. I tell her that, no, I didn't eat anything- you can see a plate with chewed up and spit out fat, but she literally WALKS AWAY. So then of course we wait for her to bring a new order over, but that never happens. And we're loyal customers for many many years, and she knows us. This extreme lack of care for your longtime customers is nauseating. Like I said, we've put up with it for years because we love the food (as well as putting up with the many health code violations over the years), but after this huge fuck you from the owner over a few bucks worth of pork? We're done. And our friends are done. This rude pathetic refusal to admit that you're serving inedible food and take care of your loyal customers with a few dollars in pork will now cost you THOUSANDS of dollars every year, because we have now told 20 of our friends to stop going, and they all agreed with us. The Jiaozi were the first big letdown. The menu said they were beef short rib and bone marrow, but they didn't taste like that at all. The filling was just super mushy and the flavor was just weird. The manager and the food runner were nice when we mentioned it, but our actual server was a disaster. When we tried the Goat Noodles, all we could taste was cumin. It was so overwhelming that it covered up everything else. We couldn't even tell if there was actually any goat shoulder in there. When we told our waiter, she couldn't care less. She got totally defensive, wouldn't even listen to us, and just said, "Oh, I told you when you ordered that the dish is cumin forward" and walked away. It got worse when the bill came. She was holding on to the payment machine so hard and almost yanked it right out of my friend's hand. She was staring at it to see what we were tipping. It was so awkward and incredibly rude.
