I have the most incredibly positive things to say about Yoo Yee. From service, to ambiance, to the quality and taste of the food... wow! I went on a spur of the moment decision, and while it was a bummer that they don't do reservations, they were super helpful and fast with their waitlist. I really appreciate that they use Toast for their waitlist as it shows you your position in line. I went on a pretty busy Saturday night and they still had my party sat in less than 45 minutes. The service was A+ and we almost never had to ask for anything. I am a heavy water chugger and the waiter consistently made sure we had water and all things we needed. Was very efficient and kind. The interior of the restaurant feels classic while also modern and upkept. I ordered the cucumber salad, chili oil wontons, scallion pancakes, and sliced beef in chili oil. The cucumber salad was maybe one of the best I have ever had with such a gorgeous balance of flavors like spice, umami, sweet, and crisp texture. The scallion pancakes? I am still dreaming of them today. Incredibly light, flaky, and crispy yet still so packed with flavor. The sliced beef dish blew me out of the water not only for quality, but quantity. I felt like I was perpetually fishing beef out of my bowl which feels unheard of these days! For the price? It was such an incredible deal. I eat here at least 2-3 times a month, I literally cannot get enough of Yoo Yee. I have absolutely no complaints about the food or the service, both are always incredible. The one thing that does get me, consistently, is the wait. Yoo Yee has become so saturated with wannabe influencers and rightfully so, the food really hits. Lately, I tend to opt for delivery via Uber Eats more than going in to sit because you just never know what you are walking into. There really isn't a specific ambiance here, it's very casual and clean, in a lot of ways also very bright, but it has never bothered me any. If you choose to go in person, which I think you should at least once, be prepared for a 30-45 minute wait. super super busy and we were told it was going to be a 1 hour wait for a party of 2 around 7pm. we chose to sit at the bar because we were able to immediately sit since there were a couple open seats. the servers were hustling around because it seemed understaffed and the restaurant was super super busy, so it took us quite a while to get our order in. the food itself was pretty good! noodles were chewy and delightful and the meat was super tender. i hope im able to come back! i'll definitely have to be strategic about when to come though so hopefully the line won't be as bad. read more

Second time visiting. The food is delicious and flavors were authentic although some of the dishes seemed overly salted the second time around. Both times we went the place was packed - it's a small space so if you are going on a Saturday around dinnertime prepare for a 45 min - 1 hour wait. Ambiance is nice - nothing fancy but the area is clean and well-lit. Recommend the beef noodle soup (hand-pulled noodles), Xinjiang lamb, and sweet skinned duck. Other dishes we ordered were still good but nothing noteworthy. I would not get the Peking Style Shredded Pork w/buns again though- the paste was pretty salty and moreover, it did not have any sweet bean sauce that is the standard flavor for this dish. Was in the Argyle area and decided to come to Yoo Yee to try their hand pulled noodles and needless to say, my noodle cravings were satisfied We went in the afternoon on a weekend and it was one of the more popular restaurant in the area. Needed to wait about 20 minutes but luckily there is both parking and a plaza to kill the time next door at the Tai Nam market center The pork ribs hand pulled noodles itself felt authentic - the noodles were wide and cooked to the perfect texture. The broth had a decent kick to it but no where near as spicy as I expected. Regardless, it was super flavorful and would say it was more savory than it was spicy Because they were fully serviced, it was pretty loud in there but our waiter still was able to take our orders in a timely manner and keep us taken care of. I've been meaning to try Yoo Yee for some time and got my chance a few days ago. I'd like to point out a few things I deem important. Not only that, but I took a photo of the front of the restaurant because it can be confusing, since all the storefronts are lined up one after another. The enclosed photo was taken right in front of the business. Look for 4925 "E"; it sometimes looks closed. When I visited Yoo Yee, it was a little after 3 PM, and the waiter said we're closed until dinner time. Even though it says open 11: 30 to 9:30, the waiter said you have to wait about another 30 min before we reopen? ​ I ordered the Spicy braised beef; it was perfect, with plenty of homemade noodles. It can be a bit much if you're not used to the heat. The bowl is so big that you could share it with another person and an appetizer. I love this place! I've been twice already and it did not disappoint. There's usually a waitlist so I went a little earlier, then I was planning to eat and had to wait about 30 minutes. The second time, I just asked to sit at the bar and was seated immediately. The popcorn chicken is soooo good, I love the spice on it and it's just so crispy. Chili oil fish was also good but the longer it takes to eat it the more spicy it gets. Beef hand pulled noodles are also so yum, the spicy one is more flavorful but I don't handle spice too well. Beef and onion was actually so flavorful and although doesn't look like it, it's still numbing spicy. This place was packed when we came, that's a good sign on how good the food is. We came to order carry out, and then came back to pick up the food about 45 minutes later, we weren't in a rush. It was still packed when we returned, and even more people were waiting to get in. I had the Hunan Beef, and it was quality, the sauce/gravy was flavorful from all the peppers and broccoli. Had some heat, but not over bearing. The meat was soft and tender, and I had a bit left over to have again the next day. I will definitely be back. The best thing I did directly after getting off my flight to Chicago was to go to Yoo Yee for lunch. Everything we got was so incredibly flavorful and hit the spot. The noodles were chewy, wontons filled with meat, and lamb cooked so authentically. The spice level is not very spicy though, at least not for me (I'm from the west coast) but I loved every bit of the savory, sweet, and tartness that each dish had to offer. We walked in right when they opened and they told us that there's a 15 to 20 minute- wait because the staff is eating first. We were seated right away while we waited so that's the good part. I wanted everything that I saw on the menu but for this first visit, we tried: Wontons in Chili Oil Sauce, Spicy Braised Beef Brisket Hand Pull Noodle Soup, and the Sweet-Skinned Duck. Quite possibly the most perfect winter meal. We ordered Yoo Yee for delivery and I'm happy to report I've discovered my new favorite Chinese take out spot in my neighborhood! The star of the show is the spicy braised beef brisket soup. Tender beef in a yummy, spicy sauce with chewy hand pulled noodles. SO GOOD! The pork wontons and fried string beans came in a close second place. The wontons are served with a sweet/spicy sauce that was so flavorful and the green beans are a very large serving and fried to perfection. The only dish that didn't totally wow me was the lo mein. Every time when we passed by this restaurant, we always saw a ton of people waiting for a table and dining there. By the third time, we decided to check it out and see why the restaurant is so popular. On an exceptionally cold and snowy winter day in Chicago, we decided to make the drive here since we figured it wouldn't be as busy or as long of a wait. However, we were dead wrong even arriving around 6pm! They do not take reservations, but you enter your name and party size in the tablet and then wait. Our wait time was about 45 minutes - 1 hour, but we did end up getting seated a little earlier than that by opting for the bar seats instead of a normal dining table. The spacing at one of end of the bar (closer to the wall) is VERY tight. The guy next to me required me to get up out of my seat and move my chair in order for him to sit or leave. We ordered the following: - Original braised beef brisket hand pull noodle soup (the best dish that we had that would keep us coming back and probably one of the best in Chicago!) - Fish filet w/ pickled vegetable soup (this was tasty but super spicy! I made the mistake of slurping this soup initially that ended up giving me a coughing fit lol) - Double cooked pork - Eggplant with garlic sauce - Ube coconut ice cream - Coconut w/ mango jelly (I didn't taste the mango flavor much, and the coconut flavor was light) Out of all the dishes that we ordered, we would definitely order the braised beef brisket noodle soup again although we may try the spicy version next time. I really want to come back and try the authentic versions of the dishes. I hope that I can raise my rating to a 5/5 next time - I definitely see the potential. There are no reservations and you can only join the waitlist in the iPad when you get there but honestly for a smaller sized restaurant, they are pretty efficient with service so you definitely won't wait too long. The location is also nice to just walk around and explore Argyle! It's super clean given it's fairly new. The must eats definitely are the fish with pickled vegetables and Dan Dan noodles!! The Dan Dan noodles are so flavorful and the texture of the noodles are so satisfying because it just soaks up all the flavor and minced pork. If you love Asian pickled vegetables and banana peppers, you will LOVE the fish dish. The fish is so tender and soft and honestly melted in your mouth. I'm not a big fish person but it doesn't feel like you're even eating fish. I know everyone raves over the braised pork noodle soup and it is good but it's not a highlight for me. The hand pulled noodles are chewy and tasty but the broth kinda fell short for me. This is like a mom and pop place. They were busy when I walked in so I was sat at the bar which is fine but the bar was not comfortable. The chairs don't allow for your legs to fit under the counter. The service was on the disappointing side, we had multiple dishes that we kept trying to get the status of and they came out near the end of our meal. Gambled on the brown sugar sticky rice sticks and they were great. Reminded me of the savory sticky rice sticks at Cai on their dim sum menu pre-pandemic. (this is the sweet version). So no reservations, but get a person over there to get on the list and I guess you could visit local businesses if they'll text you (they didn't bother messaging us since they knew we were right there). One of my new favorite finds! The food was so good! I loved the shrimp vermicelli and recommend it to all! It is garlicy perfection and as someone who loves garlic, shrimp, and noodles, I couldn't get enough! We also ordered the wontons and chili oil, beef hand pulled noodle soup, and sweet-skinned duck. Okay. I'm going to be honest. I want to give this place a one star so people stop going and I can go in without waiting but I can't do that. Yoo Yee is absolutely incredible and provides some of the best Asian food in the area (which is impressive given where it's located). The inside is cool, and feels upscale; the service is usually prompt, and truly you can't go wrong with any dish you order. I'm currently trying to eat my way through the menu and have been there four times now and feel there's still plenty to try out. read more

Enjoyed a nice midweek dinner here. Arrived at 6:30p and had to wait about 20 minutes for a two person table. Food was good. Some dishes were great - cold eggplant - and others were good - sweet duck, spicy beef brisket soup with hand pulled noodles. Friendly and attentive service. read more

This Szechuan restaurant has been so buzzy and popular, but we didn't have to wait too long to get seated. I overall liked it - the menu is really big and for someone not in the Know like me, it's hard to know what to order. For example, we got the fish filet in green peppercorn soup which according to my friend is a staple at Szechuan restaurants and she was really happy and thought it was so good especially compared to other Szechuan restaurants I've been to. We also these spicy handpulled noodles with beef which was delicious. But my friend wanted veggies and we got this garlic eggplant that was too sweet and we felt was more designed for American palates. read more

The restaurant is very cozy and cute, and the service was very good! I heard so many good things about this restaurant which made my expectations high and got a bit disappointed. The wontons in chili oil, the eggplant w/ chili oil and the spring rolls were very good and I would go back again to have those again! However their popular items: Spicy Braised Beef Brisket Hand Pull Noodle Soup and the Xinjiang Style Beef were not very good. The noodle soup was salty and the flavors were not my favorites. The Xinjiang Style Beef tasted too strong as cumin. The meat itself was soft and well cooked but the cumin flavor was overpowering. read more

Skeptical initially seeing so many non-Asian customers, but their food was really good. Twice cooked pork, Chinese yam with snow peas, and fish in chili oil (I got the live fish which is delicious but was full of bones so would do regular next time). All excellent. Yoo Yee just opened a few months ago in Uptown so we figured we would give it a shot! A smaller spot, but a beautiful interior design! There is limited seating but the servers were nice and able to find us a small table for 2. We decided to try the crispy sticky rice with brown sugar as an appetizer and we were blown away by the crispy outside with a nice soft inside, they were amazing! We were caught of guard because it seemed more like a dessert that we would have preferred to have after our main dishes, but they were so delicious I wanted to get a second order of them! We were very excited to try the hand pulled noodles, and wow they did not disappoint! Absolutely amazing! The noodles were perfect and the broth was absolutely packed with flavor! Both the original and the spicy had very different but delicious flavors. Some of the best noodles that I have had in Chicago for sure. If you're craving a nice bowl of noodles I promise you that the hand pulled noodles from Yoo Yee will blow you away! I cannot wait to get back for another bowl myself! read more
