08/02/25 - Dinner @ Wok Cuisine on Kedzie Ave just south of the brown line. This is the 3rd time in the past 2 weeks I've eaten here. My buddy turned me onto this place and we came here twice for their lunch specials for $9.95, $10.95 if beef is used in lieu of chicken or shrimp. The lunch specials are from 11am - 3pm . These are a great value w/decent sized portions & come w/a protein like chicken or shrimp along w/an egg roll or soup & white or chicken fried rice. Tonight my insurance agent & her husband took my wife & I out to dinner. We started w/an order for crab rangoon & ordered 3 dishes to be shared family style. We ordered chow fun w/chicken, pork & shrimp, eggplant w/chicken & salt & pepper fish. All three dishes were excellent. This is a small ma & pa restaurant just south of the brown line train on Kedzie Ave in a tiny little strip mall w/parking. Both of couple are super friendly & nice. They have been here for over 20 years and am surprised I'm just finding out about this little hidden gem. I feel the food is very good & @ a reasonable price. The restaurant is very small w/limited seating. In the 3X's I've eaten here I found that they do a brisk pick up w/the restaurant located just south of the brown line Kedzie location. I really enjoy this restaurant as the food is good, reasonably priced w/super friendly owners. This is definitely worthy of the 5 stars I'm giving it for a number of the items I pointed out. read more

The food was a little underwhelming for some quick Chinese food. The fried rice was nearly flavorless when I tried it, so I was really disappointed. Additionally, the egg roll tasted really sour and stale for some reason. The general tso's chicken was decent though. The service was fine - we picked up the food quick and had to get our own utensils. The ambiance wasn't bad, and there's a small parking lot. read more

Wok Cuisine is a neighborhood Chinese restaurant located in a strip mall in Albany Park. They do mostly take out business even though they do have a few tables in the restaurant. They advertise as being the best Chinese food in Albany Park. It may be the best in Albany Park, but definitely not in the city. I ordered the Sesame Chicken dinner combination platter. You definitely get a large portion for the money of sesame chicken, chicken fried rice, and veggie roll. Unfortunately, I found the chicken to be dry and lacking in that distinct sweet sesame flavor. The chicken fried rice had a nice portion of shredded chicken, but it lacked seasoning. I also ordered their fish with garlic sauce. It was a bit spicy, but I didn't think the dish had the appropriate spiciness that would go well with the fried fish. If I lived in the neighborhood, I guess I would be drawn to frequent visits to Wok Cuisine. The value is great as they do give a large portion of food for what you order. Being the best Chinese food, though, is debatable. read more

Even with mixed feelings about this Chinese restaurant, I could certainly eat here again if knowing I won't get sick after eating. It certainly has pretty good flavors. Wok Cuisine is maybe the best Chinese restaurant in Albany Park. Looks crappy inside, but most get carryout so they of course won't care. They have some pretty hot spices. Came the last time and decided to eat in. It wasn't busy at all inside. That's a good thing for eating inside because there's few tables. Has the basics. There's meats like beef and chicken, and vegetarian choices like tofu. It's about $11 for an entree. These are pretty big portions. One was enough for a couple people to be honest. Pretty cheaply run business it seems. Everything gets put in takeout containers. That includes for those eating inside. We got the Bean Curd With Kung Pao Sauce. It was spicy but not too much. The tofu was firm and had a hot peppery flavor throughout. Great flavors that are spicy, but it's kind of a crappy looking place to be honest. It's better to get takeout. There's meaty items, as well as some tofu ones that okay for vegans and vegetarians. read more

I love this place. I've been going for years. The food is consistently good. They use fresh ingredients and make vegetarian versions of popular dishes. Each dish easily serves 2, if not 3. I thought this was a good local spot. My friend and I were meeting up for dinner and the place we'd planned to meet at was closed on Monday nights. I was really craving sesame chicken and this was one of the few places we found that had that on the menu in our last minute search. It wasn't a fancy spot for dine in but it wasn't bad either. About 3-4 tables and they did come to our table to take our orders. The atmosphere was decent as well for being mostly a delivery or pick-up spot. Food was served in takeout containers but that worked well for us to take home the leftovers. We thought the portions were really a large helping and great for the price. No words will ever be enough... this is THE best Chinese takeout. The egg rolls and crab rangoons... I am not exaggerating when I say I DREAM about them. Amazing prices, especially if you go for a lunch special. They somehow manage to remember your name even if you've only been 1 or 2 times. I thought it was nice they remembered us, but then I saw they remember others too. The actual restaurant itself is not really much. We love this gem. It's our GO TO place in Chicago. Right now its take out only but pre-Covid, we would enjoy dinner there then stretch our legs for half a block to get paletas. You gotta have balance, right? Eggplant with garlic sauce (modified to MILD) is my husband's go to. I like the lo mien, especially the rice plate. Family run establishment. I ordered a beef lunch special with the egg roll and fried rice. 1. Rice swimming in oil 2. Beef was like old taste not fresh covered in a super sweet and heavy sauce to disguise the not fresh meat. I ate one piece and threw it out. Service was prompt. The place inside looks old and not clean. It made me think if the front of the house is not maintained how's the kitchen? Easy ordering online through Yelp, quick delivery. To meet the minimum requirement, I knew I'd be ordering two meals which I was ok with because who doesn't love leftover Chinese food? I ordered the sweet and sour chicken combination which came with a choice of rice (I chose chicken fried rice) and an egg roll. My second meal, Mongolian beef. Sweet and sour chicken was delicious though I was surprised the sauce came on the side for the chicken. Fried rice was decent. The Mongolian beef was super disappointing. Weird flavor and what kind of Mongolian beef comes with carrots, peas and mushrooms? Typically it's onions and scallions. Conclusion: I will order from here again but will have to find a second entree to meet the minimum requirements. Won't choose the Mongolian beef again. read more

Craving some Friday night Chinese food; I found this place on yelp & remembered ordering from here in the distant past. After placing my order through yelp, with the correct delivery address, somehow the driver ended up at a different address & made it sound like my fault on the phone. When he did drop off the food, it was just shoved in my hand, no sorry, no receipt, no pleasantries even! I was completely forgiving; until he was a jerk about his screw up. After settling into the couch with a movie; two bites into the Chicken Lo Mien & my girlfriend gags & spits out A RUBBER BAND. (See photo). Convincing herself it was okay to continue... gag again, and spit out a mouth full of chicken gristle & fat. Annnd that was the end of that. We ordered both General Tso's Chicken & Chicken in Garlic sauce. Both were almost identical, not at all spicy, barely could tell the difference between the two. The chicken pieces were either all batter & crunchy fried fat, or so over cooked it was a jaw work out to chew. Needless to say, we stopped there. I ordered a large vegetarian meal. Two dishes, soup, and an appetizer. I arrived five minutes after placing my order and it was completely ready and packaged. Unfortunately it wasn't good food. The one decent item was the dry cooked string beans. It didn't seem dry cooked, but it was tasty enough. The hot and sour soup was standard. The veggie dumplings were gross. I wasn't convinced they were really vegetarian. I had a couple bites then tossed them, which I felt badly about. General tso's tofu was too rich and sugary. Inexplicably, it came with a side of five pieces of steamed broccoli. I love broccoli but it was impossible to mix it with the dish in any way that made culinary or texural sense. I'm a lifelong northsider and I can't believe I'm just discovering this place AND it's only two blocks away! I hate to gush about anything but I'm about to put on some winter weight here fo sho!! The orange chicken is in my top 5, steamed dumplings are on point and the fired rice is balanced to where you can taste the ingredients. Most others are salty and dry. Not this. I don't know why this place have such a bad reviews on yelp but great review on Google. I decided to give it a try even thought reviews weren't the best on here but as mentioned, on the other platforms people were saying good things about it. I ordered the dinner special, general Tso chicken and my husband got the shrimp lobster sauce dinner. I instantly loved it, the portion was right, they use a metal tray instead of plastic which it looks better and food was DELICIOUS. Just like the lunch special, dinner also comes with fried rice and egg roll, it was the perfect portion. I was very afraid to try this restaurant but even when I got to their entrance they had a line to get in since the indoor dinner still close, they only serve food to go. Been so busy gave me a relief that at least other people also like them, I am glad we gave them a try, food was very taste, definitely will come back. read more

I live really close to here so I go there frequently. I love this place. I don't even really like Chinese food, but this place is always consistently good. Got a lunch delivery via GrubHub yesterday. When I reached into the bag, I could feel hot grease on everything. I went to lift the aluminum container, which was packed to the lid. The plastic lid was cracked and as I lifted it out of the bag, the container buckled in the middle and all the very greasy food fell out, hitting my leg, my shoes and my leather purse. The container was made of the cheapest stuff. I get delivery a lot and I have never had such a flimsy container before. I am partially disabled and it took me about 20 minutes to clean it all up. I carefully opened the second container, which also had a cracked lid, and the food (Mongolian Beef) was just as greasy. It was floating in grease. I just discarded it as it looked repulsive. I rarely give one star reviews, but this was totally unacceptable. I called GrubHub and they get me a total refund. Needless to say, this place will never get my business again. read more

Sometimes, life gets stressful. I'm tough and can take it all on. But to take all this on and make dinner too? Too much. And please, let us not talk of dishes or kitchen cleanup right now. I am getting over a truly nasty bronchitis, a close family member was diagnosed with cancer, a big business balance due to the IRS, my assistant had a horrible death in her family and the dog got injured too. Moments like this, my Grandmother would advise to order takeout, take a hot bath and get a good night's sleep before taking on anything more. Takeout? Yes please! Open until 10? Perfect as I didn't get out of work until nearly 8! I mosied about yelp to find nearby Chinese options and found this... excited to find appetizer options that are not deep-fried such as the sauteed green beans (excellent!), steamed broccoli and even brown rice options. Entering to find smiley service and some truly adorable kids? Awesome. I teased the kids about trying on their shoes or trading shoes while the food was prepared- it was a pleasant wait rewarded by a hefty bag of delicious takeout. Boyfriend wanted Orange Chicken and was delighted with the taste and portion size (enough to share or save for next day leftovers) The chicken was moist, tender and delicious. The rice sticky and plump, generous in portion size. The veggies crisp, fresh and flavorful. The packaging was the solid plastic, reusable sort perfect for next day leftovers for lunch. I'd say something nice about the fortune cookies- but the Beagle ate mine- the fortune said "You are practical, analytical and will always get what you want" Yes, yes indeed I did. And here, it is delicious! I put the menu on my fridge, can't wait to come back and order more. Call them or walk in and place your order- they make everything better right away with good food and polite, charming service. P.S. I apologize for not posting pictures of the food- but as I said, there has been considerable stress which this meal helped to relieve. The BF had the world's greatest moo goo gai pan at a 30-year college staple in Ames, Iowa (yeah, I know ... :)). Wok Cuisine is amazing and inexpensive! The owners and the staff are all friendly and the food is consistently good. The free jasmine tea beats Starbucks anyday. My husband always gets the Chicken with Garlic Sauce extra garlic, and I get Family Style Tofu or Garlic Shrimp. Yeah, we love garlic- so what? If you like crab rangoons, try their fried wontons. They are addictive and half the price. You get six for $2.95. We've only tried a few other items on the menu, because once you find perfection there is no need to try anything else. Ni Hao!!
