I like this new-ish location of Shake Shack down Arroyo Pkwy despite its limited on-premises seating. It has its own parking lot(s) and is across the side street from a very busy Pitfire Pizza. This is a mostly take-out location complete with designated online/app pick-up area. You can also order from a walk-up window outside... There are a few 2 person tables inside and a few more outside in the dining patio plus a handful of 4 person tables. We had a late Saturday lunch recently after spending the morning at nearby CalTech. The parking lot looked hectic so we just drove down the side street and found street parking. I ordered a shack stack ($11.89) and the lady got a smokeshack ($8.49)... we shared an order of cheese fries ($4.99)... We opted for dine-in and found a vacant table. Our food took a little while, they were very busy that day, but it was fine. The shack stack was as good as ever. So were the cheese fries. My lady always likes her smokestack orders. Burger: If it's your first time here, definitely try the smokeshack. The applewood-smoked bacon brings the flavor out of the patty and it's just the perfect bite. The only downside is they don't put grilled onions in this. Fries: it really depends how you're feeling. They have a bunch of different options to choose from, I went with the regular fries. Crispy and crunch, not soggy like most burger places. Drinks: they have drinks ranging from shakes to floats and lemonade. I ordered the infamous Shackburger ($10.99), which has a burger patty and shroom patty inside. I also add some raw onions, which gave it a really nice crunch. I found the shroom patty a bit difficult to eat as it pulled the entire mushroom out on some bites. Overall, the burger is pretty small too, especially for this price point. I can't say it's worth the value. I like the uniqueness of a shroom patty, but it could be improved. The space is clean and the employees are friendly. Looks like a slider with a cheese filled fried mushroom. Did take out so it was packaged in a medium sized bag with a box on the bottom. 2 small tomato slices were not in the burger, just tossed on the bottom of the box with no food wrap paper. One star because it was edible. Most people understand that restaurants had to reduce portion sizes to help manage costs. Let's be honest, this is insulting to consumers. I've never been to Shake Shack but I've seen it hyped up esp by east coast hipster transplant types. The Buffalo fries were crispy with great seasoning. Way better than their normal fries. The burger was nicely cooked but seasoning is lacking. Not big on burgers all that much tbh but it filled a need and kept me full. Ranch was bomb (that good GOOD Ranch) but the shack sauce is kinda trash. Tastes like a spicy mayo but isn't flavorful. It was my first time trying shake shack, originally I was going to go to Waba grill across the street but I've had that place so many times and suggested to try someplace new so I came here and there was like 3 people in front of me but the kiosk was open so I didn't mind ordering there instead of waiting but the cashier helped customers right away which I thought was awesome! The Shroom burger is what made me fall in love with Shack Shack. It is basically a crispy Portobello mushroom stuffed with melty cheese - soo good! Service at this location is good, lines move fast and they have kiosks for self ordering which is quite efficient. They have an outdoor patio here which is super nice if you want to dine outside and get some sun in. My only gripe about this location is the crappy parking lot. If they want the patrons to know when their food order is ready, they should have put about her monitor screen inside. I came here not too long after they opened. Was driving on Arroyo like any other day and saw Shake Shack (SS) will be opening soon so I decided to come with my Mom after it opened finally. I've been to SS all over the states. Original locations in New York to Las Vegas to Milwaukee to the one in Glendale as well. I have to admit I am not an avid hamburger eater but I do enjoy their Shroom Burger. Fried mushroom patty is scrumptous and juicy and this is why I keep coming back to SS. With covid, people line up and only one person can go in and order. I had my mom sit down and wait for me while I do that. Being a new location, it was pretty packed. There was no empty table after we got seated and groups of people kept coming & coming. My burger was juicy and fresh. I think I was really hungry too that I enjoyed it so much. Fries are also great too. Not really a fan of crinkle cut fries but it was crispy and lightly salted. It was my Mom's first time trying and she liked it so much. She said its too expensive but was good nonetheless. I got her the Shake Stack which I believe it has a patty and a shroom patty too. Correct me if I am wrong. I thought I would be able to quietly grab a bite to eat at Shake Shack since news hadn't yet spread regarding the grand opening of this Pasadena location. Well I thought wrong and apparently a ton of other people had the same idea as well. Lines are pretty long (but not horrible), and expect a wait for the food after you order. Opening up a Shake Shack in Pasadena is definitely a great choice - it joins the other popular restaurants in the area and I can see this location being popular for quite some time. It's located on Arroyo, across the street from CVS with a small parking lot on the side as well as curbside pickup if you place orders on-line. There was a long line when I arrived as they're only allowing one group inside the restaurant at a time. They also have touch screen ordering pads on the side that only take credit card payment - but currently the staff helps the customers with ordering on those. There's also a patio area if you want to enjoy your food before heading home. It was pretty crowded, so we opted to just eat at home. Pricing is the same as the other locations - a ShackBurger is $5.99 while a burger without cheese is $5.39. You can add ShackSauce for free, a great alternative if you can't eat cheese. Burgers are consistent with the other locations - I would say that the burgers seem a little small, but taste was on-point. Even after the drive home, the burgers still were pretty fresh. And you can't have a complete meal without the fries! Love the crinkle cut fries from Shake Shack ($3.09 each). I do wish that portions were a little bit bigger, but fries were tasty. Unfortunately they had already lost the warmth by the time we got to them, so some of them were a little cold. But overall, the outside was crispy and the inside was pretty soft and pillowy. We also got a shake on the side. I wasn't able to try any, but my friend said it was tasty. tl;dr - Super glad that a Shake Shack is opened in Pasadena! Quick and easy. I've been to this Shake Shack location many times and each time has been awesome. It's always been easy to order and fast to get my food. There's not much more to ask from a burger joint. I usually get the shack burger or the avocado bacon burger. They're both great and reliable/safe options to order. The burgers always come out super juicy and flavorful. Their French fries are the wavy thicker cut ones vs in n out and McDonald's. I love the pillowyness of their thicker cut fries and they always tastes fresh compared to sometimes you don't get fresh fries with other places. I'm really disappointed with this place. The only selling point was the service, but some of the workers were a little unprofessional. Saw one just go over to his friend's car after the friend repeatedly honked at him, scaring everyone who was waiting. They seemed excited to see each other and were cussing while they vaped.
