This is incredibly embarrassing to admit - especially as a self-proclaimed burger lover - but I've never been to Shake Shack. At least, not until today, since my husband and I decided it was high time to make things right. There are three kiosks situated right at the front of the restaurant and these seem to be the main way to place an order, along with grabbing a numbered placard from the counter. You can still place an order at the register if you're paying cash (or craving real human connection), but I noticed workers aren't statically stationed by the register here; most are busy preparing food in the back. I actually liked the kiosk method of ordering, especially since it made it easy to order my burger just the way I wanted it. I'm told Shake Shack's gotten way more amenable to customization since their inception, and I found that to be true. I added an avocado to my Shack burger while my husband added an extra patty, and it was quick and easy to see the exact cost breakdown. The burgers themselves were good. In true smashed burger form, there were crispy edges that got a near bacon-like texture from the hot grill. That said, I fou This particular Shake Shack is located on the southeast corner of Westfield Garden mall (the side that faces Route 17), which can be both a good and bad thing. It's great on Sundays, when most of the mall is closed due to Bergen County blue laws and there's plenty of parking. On most Fridays and Saturdays, though, expect the crowds - both in the mall and in the parking lot. There are quite a few tables inside, and on super crowded days, there are a few 'indoor-outdoor' tables along the side of the restaurant (meaning technically outside the restaurant but still inside the mall) for spillover seating.

The story of this establishment is a classic American success story. What began as a small hot dog stand operating out of Madison Square Park in New York City in 2001 eventually grew into a gourmet fast-casual restaurant with more than 377 locations both domestically and internationally. Located at the corner of the East entry inside the Garden State Plaza mall, my partner and I decided on a quick lunch at Shake Shack after a hiatus of several years. Upon entering this modern and inviting interior with plenty of available tables both indoors and outdoors, their large menu displayed on the wall featured gourmet hamburgers, chicken, hot dogs, crinkle-cut french fries, and milkshakes. We were greeted at the counter and decided on the Shroom Burger, Avocado Bacon Chicken, Fries, with root beer and water to wash them down. The burger and chicken were juicy, cooked to perfection, and flavorful. The fries were fresh, crispy, and served hot. The service was good, as one of them brought the food to our table fairly fast. The price was comparable to the area. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every patron felt welcomed and valued. We can recommend this place.

Pretty good - the mall location at the East entry sandwiched at the corner by Macy's, service was reasonably quick at 11, and while I couldn't order ahead of time before the restaurant was open to pick up after 11a, they had 3 kiosks to order at and not much of a line so I was #3 in line to get food once I ordered. Smokeshack was excellent, double patty. The avocado bacon burger was on sale this weekend, which was ok, but didn't wow me like the Smokeshack or Stack Shack. Will be back!

When we sometimes go to Shake Shack in Garden State Plaza mall, we always have a good experience between our accurate orders and service. If you dine in and pick up a table number. The server goes to you or you can choose to wait by the front counter. Plenty of seating in the area or around the mall. If you are a rewards member, you can scan your app.

Food like any other Shake Shack, but, the best part about coming here is the fact that they're open on Sundays when the rest of the Westfield Mall isn't. Our family has visited this Shake Shack location on Sundays more times than I can count and it has always been relatively quiet, especially at opening at around 11-11:30 AM. Most of the customers on Sundays comprise of families though, so if you can't stand kids, this might not be the best place to go. There are plenty of tables inside and you can even sit outside within the mall. The employees here have always been very friendly and accommodating when we request for extra sauces or utensils. They definitely exemplify the typical Shake Shack employee customer service. To summarize, this is basically our go to Shake Shack, although it IS much, much busier on Fridays and Saturdays as you can imagine, but Sundays are bliss.

Ok for food. Not worth the hype. Chicken was ok. Service attentive and fast. Industrial ambience.

We were at this shakes shack to order a take out order for dinner. Store wasn't busy, we were able to put our order in right away using the kiosk. It took them more than 10 minutes to have order ready, even though it was only a shack burger, a shack chicken and fries. I found the store clean and organized while waiting there. The food was excellent quality, had the signature Shake shack taste.

We did a late night Shake Shack run after a long day. It was already way past the time to make something at home, so this was our best bet. Plus, we've been on a burger-and-fries kick this summer It'd been years since my husband has had Shake Shack, and he's only had Shake Shack in the city and it wasn't the best experience for him (long wait time and what he says were lackluster vegetarian options). I was curious about what they have now, so we ordered to share and see what's up. Here's what we got: - 'Shroom burgers - This was my preference between the two. I was a fan of the cheese inside the breaded mushroom patty. - Veggie burger - He liked this one, saying the pickles were on point. - Fries - Can't go wrong with crinkle cut fries. Not bad. I would come back again if in the area and in the same circumstance of late night eats, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. A plus for this location is that within the mall it is close to the East Parking Lot Entrance, which makes it convenient to stop in to pick up a mobile order and then peace out.

This is a fast food rating. Chicken sandwich, burger, chicken tenders: great. The fries are lacking, dry. Next time I'll get a shake instead of a side.

It's been a while since I've had Shake Shack! FYI- We visited on a Thursday, 7:30pm and there were about three occupied tables. The place was just getting packed around 8pm, 8-9 occupied tables, and still plenty of available tables, both indoors and outdoors! There seems to be many pick up orders too. Fresh burgers, we love the veggie cheese filled mushroom burger option. My husband order Shia with a beef Patty and bacons. Note- no soda fountain refills since fountain machines are behind the counters in the kitchen. The spicy cheese fries with ranch is new to me, and it definitely has a kick. The fries could use more cheese since it was very dry, but the ranch is a nice touch. It's been a while since I've had Shake Shack! Always love to come back for more shack burger. Juicy and tender patty. Bread is fluffy and buttery! Lots seatings. If not, thru out the mall, there are many lounge chairs.

PROS: This is an amazing Shake shack that I highly suggest coming to. Nice staff, food was great, good prices and menu variety, looks renovated, food came out fast, self checkout as well CONS: The tables weren't cleaned and the self checkout did not accept gift cards OVERALL: As long as you aren't that sanitary and don't have a gift card I highly suggest you come here and eat. Maybe I just ordered the "wrong things". Either way, my experience didn't live up to the hype. I visited on a late Saturday night. There's a parking lot behind the restaurant. The entrance can be tricky to find... It's located in the back on the left-hand side. The exterior and interior are both pretty dark, dull, and dingy. It's not the most inviting atmosphere at first. It has a divey, industrial, and rustic vibe to it, but hey... sometimes the best food comes from places that don't look like much. So I try not to judge. It wasn't too busy, and the service was attentive. The menu has your classic American comfort food - wings, pizza, burgers, sandwiches, etc. They switch it up with daily specials like skirt steak, chicken parm, and pasta. They have a full bar with cocktails, drafts, bottled beers, can ciders, and wines. You can even do a four-beer flight and make it a tasting experience! I ordered: *Dark & Stormy Cocktail [Goslings Dark Rum, Ginger Beer, Lime Juice] ($14) - Not the best one I've had, but it was solid. If you like ginger and rum, this is a must try. The dark rum has hints of caramel which works really well with the spicy ginger beer. The lime juice adds a citrus kick, so it's a really refreshing drink. *Margarita ($18) - As a tequila girly, I've had my fair share of margaritas. This one didn't do it for me. It was a little too sour/tart, which overpowered everything else. *Cubano Sandwich [includes roast pork, black forest ham, swiss cheese, pickles, mayo, and mustard with side of fries] ($16) - I wasn't expecting an authentic Cubano from an American sports bar, so my expectations weren't super high. This was good, but not great. The pork was flavorful, but could've been more tender. I wish there were more pickles and mayo for that extra tangy crunch. The bread was pressed a little too hard, so it was a bit tough to bite through. *Double Blackened Chicken Breast Sandwich [includes pepper jack cheese, chipotle mayo, red peppers, and red onion on brioche with side of fries] ($18) - This was huge and filling! They did not skimp out on the protein. The brioche bun was soft and buttery. The chicken was well seasoned - smoky and savory with crispy charred edges. BUT... to my disappointment, the inside was dry and not juicy at all. Another small issue was the ratio - There was so much chicken compared to the rest of the toppings, so it wasn't the most cohesive sandwich. It really needed more cheese and chipotle mayo to tie all the flavors together. The fries were the best part - thick, crispy, and golden! It's decent bar food, just not the best I've had. Nothing was bad, but nothing was great or memorable. For the price, I didn't feel it was worth it. I do appreciate that their food is served piping hot and fresh. To be fair, this is probably the perfect spot for beer lovers. I happen to not be one, lol. The burger options sound popular and promising too. I'd consider giving them another shot for Happy Hour or to try a burger, but it's not at the top of my list. Just because it's not the sports bar for me, doesn't mean it won't be the one for you.

The drink was very refreshing with a slightly tart taste. Farm Burger: This ounce angus patty includes lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and a secret sauce. I also added yellow American cheese for a $1 up charge. I cannot identify the ingredients of the secret sauce, hence the name. It was really tasty and I requested a small extra cup on the side for dipping. For the most part, this was a tasty burger. I was also a big fan of the portobello veggie burger and BLT. However, things have changed and I have been to a few locations in the past 2 months. First, I am not sure what kind of oil they use for their fries - but the taste is off and you taste more oil than potato. Second, the portobello burger now has a brownish color cheese (versus a pale yellow) and was over fried. Third, their BLT sandwiches used to be on sourdough, but now on a bun and the bacon tasted off. Yesterday I got a key lime shake which was so-so and the veggie burger which cost $19 for 2 items! Also, they now use cold custard vs. hard ice cream for their shakes which makes a big difference in texture and flavor. Their shack burgers are still pretty good and they have the best lemonade, but their prices have also risen so I don't plan to go again. There are places like Seventh Street Burger where you can get an amazing burger for $6.50 and their fries are amazing. One more thing - don't get the Dubai chocolate shake - it costs $10 and the chocolate is supposed to slide/break off the sides of the cup into the drink but it doesn't.

Overall I really enjoyed this spot and would come back.
