We took the kids to planet Playskool today and afterwards they wanted something to eat. We saw the mall had a shake shack and ventured over. The place was clean and the kiosks were easy to use. We waited less than 5 minutes for our meal to arrive at our table. We have shack shake near our home in Manhattan but this for some reason was extra delicious! Not what they used to be... When this location opened I was there once a week. Everything was great. I typically ordered the shack burger, cheese fries and their cookies and cream shake. I was also a big fan of the portobello veggie burger and BLT. However, things have changed and I have been to a few locations in the past 2 months. First, I am not sure what kind of oil they use for their fries - but the taste is off and you taste more oil than potato. Second, the portobello burger now has a brownish color cheese (versus a pale yellow) and was over fried. Third, their BLT sandwiches used to be on sourdough, but now on a bun and the bacon tasted off. Yesterday I got a key lime shake which was so-so and the veggie burger which cost $19 for 2 items! Also, they now use cold custard vs. hard ice cream for their shakes which makes a big difference in texture and flavor. Their shack burgers are still pretty good and they have the best lemonade, but their prices have also risen so I don't plan to go again. There are places like Seventh Street Burger where you can get an amazing burger for $6.50 and their fries are amazing. One more thing - don't get the Dubai chocolate shake - it costs $10 and the chocolate is supposed to slide/break off the sides of the cup into the drink but it doesn't. read more

My absolute favorite. If you're feeling a delicious burger and wanna splurge - shake shack is the place to do it. Perfectly crisped smash patties, fresh veggies piled high, cheesy goodness and some shack sauce. Also, I'm usually not a fan of crinkle fries but when they're perfectly crisp and crunchy like this dipped in some ketchup - yum! The restaurant is also so clean and well organized. 1st time ever my order was wrong. Instead my favorite SmokeShack, I received Smoky Classic. ( please keep this names completely different so no confusion!) Didn't want to be fussy so I ate it but because I took my friend with me who had never been there before - I had to explain her that this is not what I promised. When paying with cash one has to order tru register and thank you for this possibility to still be able to use cash for food. Another issue was that the tables were not swiped, still left with leftovers from previous customers. Its ok I swiped it with the napkins and water you provide to drink. So not a big deal. Lastly, what is wrong with the floors? Sticky from dirt or soap accumulation? I had to be careful walking because it was more like ice rink than a walking floor. Get a new mop, use water with less detergent. Do something. What used to be like a cool, cozy place to enjoy terrific hamburgers, became a second hand stop with dirty floors, dirty tables and wrong orders. Its ok to get one thing wrong but triple magic get noticed. I have to say that employees are trying to be nice, bringing food to the table and smiling but I prefer to have old menu on the wall, listening clerk, clean tables and clean floors. Shake Shack delivers a lot of what I like about a fast food restaurant. It is very easy to order and pay at the kiosk. The food comes out quickly. The condiments station is always full. The employees are friendly and helpful. The restaurant and the rest rooms are clean. I was intrigued by the current seasonal features of Korean inspired sandwiches and seasoned fries (though I still got a burger, because I feel obligated to do that at Shake Shack). If you've not been here before, it is very easy to miss the entrance if you are driving at night, as we did. So we parked in the lot next door, but the Shake Shack is surrounded by a fence, so you have to walk out just about to Route 17 across a well-trod path in the snow to get in. I wish there was better outside lighting for the front of the restaurant. But it does seem to me that there's been a cost effect, as the sandwiches seem smaller and the prices seem higher, as seems to be the way of the world. This afternoon I ordered takeout at Shake Shack to bring back to the office for lunch. I've been to locations in the city, but this was my first Jersey Shake Shack experience. I drove over to the location on Route 17. There were parking spots upfront, but more in the back of the lot. If you enter from the back of the lot, you'll be closer to where you order. This was an impromptu decision and I didn't order ahead, so I placed my order using one of the three self-service kiosks. I entered my phone number so I could be texted when my order was ready, and emailed myself my receipt. Super easy. The food came out in about 10 minutes. Over the past few years it seems like Shake Shack has aggressively expanded. From my experience they consistently serve above average fast food; I don't think I've ever been disappointed by the food during a visit to Shake Shack. I believe this location was the first to open in the North Jersey area and when it did the lines were CRAZY. Eventually they opened another location at Garden State Plaza down further south down Route 17 and of course that one gets a lot busier. However, given the headache that is finding parking at GSP, I will go to this Route 17 South location unless I'm already at GSP for something else. Unfortunately, I've noticed the service at this location is a step below the one at GSP. Normally I don't really care about friendliness and all that when it comes to food, that's just a bonus. But a handful of times my order has been messed up which is annoying to say the least. Nothing major, but it sucks to have to wait again for it to be fixed. I haven't had this experience at GSP and I've been to both locations about an equal number of times. My latest trip to Shake Shack was to try the limited time Hot Ones menu items. As a fan of both Shake Shack and Hot Ones I knew these would be a must-try. The highlight of it all was of course the Hot Ones x Shack Sauce. At first I didn't think it was very spicy at all; maybe akin to Sriracha. But as I proceeded through my meal the heat built up and I liked that. It wasn't spicy to the point of tears and pain, but I could definitely feel the sweat building up at my brow. Definitely tasty and it went well with all the items. The chicken sandwich had a generous breast that was breaded/seasoned well and also cooked very well. It was still moist and juicy. I wish the Monterey jack cheese on top was melted a little more but it still played well with the sauce. The bacon on top still had a little chew, just how I liked it. I think I enjoyed the burger the most out of everything. It was a typical Shake Shack patty cooked perfectly. I think the extra greasiness of the burger in comparison to the chicken allowed it to cut the heat of the sauce a little. I really enjoyed that pairing. The cheese fries were awesome. I love cheese fries and I love spice, so spicy cheese fries are right up my alley. Topped with bacon? Perfection. I might have to make a return visit to Shake Shack to try the Hot Ones menu again. Love shack, baby love Shake Shack (baby that's where it's at)! Bang Bang Bang on the door baby. I don't go often but when I do, I always enjoy the Shake Shack. I've tried several of the burgers, always with some sort of french fries and a shake. Everything is made upon ordering so it is always nice and fresh. I do not mind the 15 min wait to get my order freshly made. The wait may be longer with all the available delivery services so give the the employees a break and be patient. The burgers are prepared well with perfect ratios of meat, cheese and toppings. French fries are always nice a crispy whether they stand alone or covered with cheese and bacon. The shakes are creamy with the perfect sipping consistency. The manager came around to ask us ďif everything was ok, which everything was better than ok. I've never met a Shake Shack that I didn't like. Well maybe except for this one. We ordered at around 12:20 for a 12:45 pick-up. We arrived at 12:55 and it still wasn't ready. But that's not the reason for the two stars. It was the parking lot (which is cramped) and most importantly, the food. I always say you can't go wrong with Shake Shack but this location was just not good. Maybe we came at the wrong time and the lunch rush was too overwhelming? We wanted to try the spicy chicken. I ordered it hot and my husband ordered it fire (there's hot, extra hot, and fire). We couldn't tell which one was which because there wasn't any sort of labeling, and they both looked the same. It's basically just a regular chick'n shack and the "spice level' is the amount of cayenne pepper they sprinkle on it. I ate half of the fire one before I realized it wasn't mine but there wasn't a huge difference between that and the hot one. The chicken was also overfried, so it was dry. There's also no option to customize it so you can't add or remove anything even if you wanted to. Cheese would have helped the sandwich go down a bit easier. We also decided to try the chicken bites since those were limited time too, but these were just disgusting. Also overfried, it was super oily to the point that the breading was falling off of the rubbery chicken. That didn't exactly make it easy to dip it in the cheese sauce it came with. The fries were probably the best part of the meal. They were the "spicy fries", so it was the same uninnovative method they used for the hot chicken but at least these weren't overdone or too oily. Don't think I'd return to this location. If I need Shake Shack, I'll just venture out to the city or wait for the Hoboken location to open up. read more

Shake Shack it's a premium fast food place and we all know it. Nothing wrong with that. Specially when the quality of the ingredients are good.My problem is when that doesn't hold it anymore and now I am paying premium for something that is not. Today my husband and I had lunch there. I even tried the new burger French Onion Soup Burger. I found that the main ingredient the beef wasn't a good quality. It had lots of fatty chewy pieces everywhere you bite it. I couldn't even eat it. I had 2 bites and throw it out. The onions were good. But definitely not worth what they charge you. We also ordered a plain burger for my little dog. Same thing. The meat had lots of chewy fatty. My husband had the chicken sandwich and he thinks that the chicken was slightly smaller than what it used to be. Anyway, very disappointed. I had to order through the app they make you download in order to get curbside pick up but we couldn't really find the spot to park in for them to bring your orders out so we ended up just going in for pick ups. We waited quite a while before our order came out but we were promised 8pm and we were quite early so it was ok. Food was amazing - Shake Stack was one of the best items I've ever gotten and the "fire" chili cheese fries weren't as spicy as I thought it would be. It seems like they just sprinkled a whole bunch of chili flakes on top and called it fire rather than some sort of special sauce. Bathrooms are open if you need them. Indoor dining available with social distancing implemented. It is a fast food restaurant after all so for what they had to offer, it's still a great stop to end the night. read more

To me, Shake Shack is perfect. You can expect consistently delicious food at every location, but this location stands out because of how spacious it is. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen such a large Shake Shack before. On a packed Saturday at lunch there was still an ample amount of seating. The interior is clean, sleek and filled with wood paneled tables, chairs and walls. Despite being pretty crowded the line moved incredibly fast. I love the shack stack burger best, which is like 800 calories, because the fried portobello stuffed with cheese really puts it over the top. My next choice would be the crispy chicken sandwich with pickles. So good. It's always a huge slab of chicken. And now they have chicken bites which I just had for the first time - ridiculously tender and crispy gourmet chicken nuggets. Come with bbq and/or honey mustard. Both sauces are good - bbq is quite smoky and honey mustard nice and creamy just the way I like them. I do like the cheese fries here as well - not normally a crinkle cut fan but the fries are always perfectly cooked, salted and the cheese is tasty. I dont normally get a shake because they can be a little heavy so I sometimes opt for a float. Purple cow brings me back to childhood (grape soda and vanilla - sounds weird but it's oddly good!). Creamsicle is probably my favorite - vanilla with orange soda. Root beer float is a classic. The shakes I have tried are delicious. I never get the concretes. I've been to a bunch of locations but this one is closest to home and is never a long wait. Food is prompt and there are a good amount of registers. People have always been friendly here. read more

Damn, Paramus.  What a flex to have two Shake Shacks in your town.  I mean - this is my absolute fave chain when it comes to fast (casual) food and you've got two - both on Rt. 17S - when so many towns are Shake-less. I've never had an item here that wasn't out-of-the-park delicious. Burgers: fantastic Chicken: (see above) (Limited time) Korean chicken bites: (see above)   Crinkle-cut Fries: crispy and delicious (just see above!) Shakes: not something I care for (generally) but their coffee-flavored one is so damn good. Lemonade: so so good (Most recent visit during COVID wasn't so successful... coffee shake not available, their system to text you was a bust and by the time we got our food it was barely warm - which really isn't good when it comes to fast food.  But I won't hold it against them.) This location is alcohol-free (boo!) and can get (really) packed (boo!) but still worth the journey from my Shack-less hometown. read more

To be honest, I should've known better. My cousin had previously visited this location and didn't have a good experience. But, we were in the area running errands and wanted Shake Shack since we don't actually have one in Jersey City/Hoboken (yet). I placed the other online and we waited about 5-10 minutes past our quoted pick up time. That's fine, cause they bring it right out to your car so you don't actually have to move or go inside. The burgers were good, but the chicken bites were SO bad. The breading was super oily and kept falling off the chicken. It was so hard to dip it into the cheese sauce, which has always been my go-to ever since I dunk my chicken bites in my fry cheese at their test kitchen in Soho. Not only was our food like warm, my drink had no ice and my boyfriends shake was melted and subpar. Delicious food, uniform and consistent as with many a chain restaurant. Moist chicken sandwich, crisp krinkle fries, and a delectable vanilla milkshake, creamy and cool. The distinguishing characteristic of this particular location is the service. I dined in and when my meal was brought to the table a distinguished gentleman with impeccable taste in body art casually put the tray down and with a smile said something to the effect of "Hey man, this [food] was made with love for you, hope it brightens your day." The neon sign adorning the store says "Stand for something good." I'd like to think that while corporate's interior decorators meant that as a testament to the quality of their cuisine, this employee adopted it as a personal mantra, one to be manifested in all encounters. Though I rarely eat 'em -- now and again I like a big, sloppy juicy burger with lots of flavors and condiments in every bite. Patties that taste like fresh beef -- not cardboard -- are obligatory. Shake Shack's shroom burger and their bbq double with all the fixings including crinkle fries on the side -- rings my burger bell. This is not craft or artisanal or fancy --- just really tasty -- well seasoned ground meat bombs -- at a reasonable price point. Similar in taste and approach to the Cali InandOut burger franchise -- this is a craving that's easily satisfied and quickly fulfilled. SS even offers gluten free buns which -- alas -- taste awful. Don't bother unless you have celiac -- and even then -- chances are these buns are cross contaminated in the prep area -- according to the young lady who took my order. If -- like me -- you look down your nose at all the "craft" burger and beer joints that have sprouted up in the past decade or so -- Shake Shack is a refreshing and honest alternative. No beer here but hey -- less beered up driving is a good thing too. I would have gone 4 stars -- but for the brusque and indifferent customer service from our order taker. My daughter and I ordered online for curbside pickup. We notified staff of our arrival as instructed and waited for our food to come out. After nearly 30 minutes I went inside to find our food sitting on the counter, now cold, while several staff members sat nearby. No one cared when I asked what happened. A few days later I ordered a chicken sandwich with a gluten free bun online for delivery. Delivery was prompt but I got a piece of chicken in a little bag with spoiled lettuce. Very disappointing. The online menu is missing many items, for example no regular burger. Only veggie and shroom burgers. Not sure who runs this location but they need to step up or be replaced. read more
