Seven Grams is a popular Chinese restaurant in Tustin that specializes in juicy pork dumplings (XLBs) and serves other dishes with a modern twist. The restaurant is named after the ideal weight of the dumpling wrapper. This is the flagship location with another location in Rancho Cucamonga (Victoria Gardens). [Parking]: Fairly easy parking in the shopping plaza, but it can be difficult during busy hours. [Atmosphere & service]: The restaurant uses the Yelp waitlist, but our party was able to grab a table immediately on early Sunday afternoon. The restaurant has modern decor with tables, bar seating, and 2 TVs. The service was nothing to write home about and I had a slightly difficult time flagging down waiters. [Menu]: Yelp's top highlighted items include Beef Roll, Pan-Fried Dumplings, Golden Prime Beef Noodle Soup, Cucumber Salad, and XLBs. The menu has a chili symbol showing how spicy a dish is. Please note that two chili symbols = quite spicy. *** 7 Gram XLB (wheat flour, pork, pork aspic, seasoning - 6 pieces for $8.75): Excellent - it was one of the top XLBs I have had in recent years. Tender skin, but it didn't break that easily and the broth flavor was on point. Beef Roll (wheat flour, beef shank, cucumber, scallion, cilantro, hoisin sauce - 6 pieces $13.25): Quite good as it had a hint of sweet and savory flavor from the hoisin sauce. Golden Prime Beef Noodle Soup (standard round noodles, prime beef, kale, pickled veggie, chili pepper, parsley, scallion - two chili signs - $15): Think of this as an Asian fusion-style beef noodle soup. Smooth and silky noodles with an excellent and savory broth, but this bowl could be a bit spicy for some people. *** 4.5-star for the food and some of the dishes taste just as good as if not better than Din Tai Fung. I can see myself coming back here again to try other dishes, but for anyone with a low spice tolerance then definitely avoid any items with a chili symbol on the menu which does limit some of the options you can order at this place.
Seven Grams is a restaurant specialized in Chinese cuisine, especially dumplings and noodles. The service was good. The food was decent and pricing was pretty reasonable. We enjoyed our dinner, though nothing really wowed me. Note: The soy sauce bottle actually contained both soy sauce and vinegar. The vinegar taste was quite overwhelming. It would be better if they were separate. I ended up skipping this and just had the chili oil instead. * Shrimp XLB 4/5 - XLBs are soup dumplings and these came with shrimp and pork inside. They were good, but there was an aftertaste I didn't like. It was either gamey or fishy. I didn't really taste this from the other dishes. * Wontons with Chili Sauce 4/5 - I liked the mild kick of these wontons. They were good, though the chilli sauce wasn't as addicting as other places. * Scallion Pancakes 4.5/5 - These were very crispy and made a fun snack for the table. * Pan Fried Dumpling 4/5 - These were good, though not outstanding. I was expecting a more crispy texture, but they were kind of soft. Some of them also had soup inside like the XLB. Not a bad thing, but not quite what I thought they'd be. * Golden Prime Beef Noodle Soup 4/5 - This was quite spicy, maybe medium to medium high level of spiciness. It came with noodles, vegetables, pickled vegetables, and thinly sliced beef. It tasted like a comforting homemade meal.
Big fan of the soup dumplings, there was a lot of flavor and good big portions in the soup. The beef noodle soup was okay... it kind of grew on me. I thought the broth was interesting it tasted like a chicken schezwan broth paired with the beef. I like the soy sauce vinegar combo they had already at the table too! And the cucumbers were delicious nice and sweet super refreshing and crunchy. There were so many waiters and they attended to us nicely. The service is so quick here! And the halloween decorations were so cute and nicely decorated!
Lovely Taiwanese casual spot with incredible prices!! My mom and I stopped by here for lunch and it did not disappoint. The wait can get a little long but the outdoor waiting area is in shade and there are a couple of benches. We shared the cucumber salad, chili sauce wontons, Seven Grams XLB, and a scallion pancake all for $33. Insanely cheap, tasty too. The scallion pancake was a little thinner than I'd like, not a ton of scallion flavor. But we especially liked the XLB - juicy and full of meat! The cucumber salad was light and refreshing and the chili sauce wontons were tender and tangy. Great lunch spot - would love to try something from the drink menu the next time I'm back! :)
My family and I went to this restaurant for dinner on a Friday night. The wait for dinner was about 30 mins. We did end up getting seated at the tall tables; however, we had a two year old with us...a bit inconvenient but no issue since the baby was able to still sit and eat. I'm sure they do have accommodations for young children if told earlier (we didn't let them know about the 2 year old so not their fault). Food came out quickly. We ordered one of each different XLB, chicken katsu, wonton with chili sauce, scallion pancake, noodles with scallion oil sauce, beef rolls. Everything tasted delicious. My favorite was the seven grams XLB which I believe is pork. Scallion pancake was so crispy!! One note is that the wonton with chili sauce was more sweet to me than spicy; still good though! I also ordered a osmanthus oolong tea (this is just hot water with a tea packet, but nice. i was able to take it to go too). Overall, I'm glad my family last minute decided to go to restaurant for dinner. Definitely recommend. Service, food, and vibes were all great. Our total came out to be around 110 including tip!!
Seven Grams has been on my list for a while, and I finally got to try it today! It was pretty busy when we visited on a Saturday night, and we were seated about 40 minutes after checking in on the iPad for the waitlist out front. The interior was clean and well-maintained, and I thought they did a good job utilizing the space with plenty of tables to accommodate guests. Once we were seated, they took our orders quickly and our food came out very fast. Service was excellent! The servers were warm and welcoming, and Josh provided exceptional service. He checked in on us multiple times and made sure we had everything we needed (sauces, water, etc.) before we even had to ask. Another server also went around offering napkins, which I really appreciated. Those little details really stood out to me! FOOD: - We started with the Wood-ear Mushroom Salad, which is my boyfriend's favorite, so that was all him. He couldn't stop eating it and really enjoyed it! - I ordered the Crispy Lotus Root Fries so we'd have something crunchy to complement the rest of our food, and they were tasty and crispy. - The Seven Grams XLB was good as well. We sipped the soup first and then dipped the dumplings in the soy sauce and vinegar mixture. - The Wonton with Chili Sauce is a staple for me, and we quickly finished those too! - For my entree, I ordered the Noodles with Spicy Pork Sauce. It's kind of like spaghetti but spicy, and it comes with pickled red cabbage, kale, and corn kernels. It was good, but I had to get used to the combination of flavors. It also had a strong umami flavor, so I ended up taking most of it to-go. - My boyfriend really enjoyed his Gyudon and said it's one of the better ones he's had. He liked that it was flavorful enough to enjoy on its own without needing any additional sauce. - For drinks, we got the Mango Yakult and Jasmine Light Milk Tea. Our server warned us that the drinks run sweet, so I ordered my milk tea at 75% sweetness, which I think was perfect! - Since we were celebrating my birthday, our server surprised us with complimentary Sesame Balls. They were flavorful and delicious, but they came out VERY hot, so be careful not to burn your tongue! Overall, I was really impressed with the service at Seven Grams, and honestly, that was the highlight of my experience. The staff was attentive, proactive, and genuinely welcoming. Their food items are reasonably priced. I just wish they had a little more variety when it comes to their noodle and dessert selections. Still, I'd definitely come back to try more!

Had heard good things about this place and was happy I had the chance to try it! I had a party of 2 around 2:30PM on a Sunday. There was a crowd of people waiting outside so I was a bit nervous that it would take really long. But we added our name to the waitlist on the iPad outside and we were sat in less than 30 minutes (when we went on the list, we were party 13). The wait went by super fast! By the time we finished our meal, there were lots of open seats. I first heard of this place as a "copycat Din Tai Fung". I actually think it's better to think of this place as another Taiwanese restaurant that serves similar food to DTF, but not a copycat. Although some of the popular items are the same (XLBs for example) the restaurants are definitely different. Firstly, the service here is SO FAST. And all the servers were really kind! We ordered our food and it felt like everything came out within MINUTES of each other. By the time we had all our savory dishes, I had only taken one bite out of the first dish. That's how fast it was! Haha We ended up ordering: Spicy XLBs, Beef Roll, Golden Prime Beef Noodle Soup, and Taro XLBs for dessert. Everything was DELICIOUS! My husband's favorite was the Beef Roll, while I think my favorite may have been the soup. The Spicy XLBs (4/5) were great! They felt quite large as I ALMOST had to eat them in two bites (but like why would I ever do that). Flavor was great and I thought there was actually very little spice in these. Compared to DTF'x XLBs, I thought these were just as juicy, but less ginger-forward (which made it feel less flavorful), and more sweet. I was personally missing some acid and wanted a bit more salt cuz it was a tad sweet. The Beef Rolls were pretty good too (4.25/5)! Nice and crispy. Even though it's pan fried, it felt light because of the vegetables. And I know this is weird to say, but the combination of beef, hoison sauce, and veggies almost tasted like pho flavors...but crispy? Yummy! I personally again wanted a bit more salt. But I'd definitely order again. Now for my favorite, the Golden Prime Beef Noodle Soup (4.5/5). WOOWWEEE! She's spicy! And I have a good spice tolerance so beware. I really loved the flavor of the broth. It was spicy and also had a really clean flavor. It looked like it would be a watery broth but WRONG! It was so flavorful. I loved the chewy noodles too and even the noodles on their own were spicy cuz they clung onto the broth. A really delicious soup! I'd love to eat this on a cold winter's day or when I'm sick. Delicious! The Taro XLBs (3.9/4) were pretty good too, but skippable. They weren't too sweet, which was nice. They had a lovely consistency and good taro flavor. But compared to everything else, they weren't that special. Overall, a really delicious restaurant! I'd definitely come here if I was craving XLBs/Taiwanese food.
I was introduced here by a couple of friends, and Seven Grams did NOT miss! We were a big group, which means we got to try multiple different things out. We waited one hour on my visit, but that is to be expected as the restaurant is quite small. Beef Rolls (5/5): We got two orders of these, and it was our favorite for a reason. Crispy and flaky wrap on the outside and it was packed with flavor. It was very satisfying to eat! Scallion Pancakes (3.5/5): They were plain but that is to be expected, I didn't taste much scallion. It needed the sauce of course! Spicy Wontons (4/5): These are solid and the chili oil does pack a lot of heat. I would say they are on the spicier side, just wish there was a little more depth to it. Seven Grams XLB (4/5): Juicy and flavorful! Not the absolute best I've had, but still worth ordering. Golden Beef Noodle Soup (5/5): This bowl right here was amazing. Green leafy kale paired with the extra hearty soup was what made this bowl a standout dish for me. 100% would order this alone! Mapo Tofu (5/5): Yummy silky tofu cubes with the minced meat sauce were delicious in every bite! I had no other complaints, but this dish gets very filling easily. Seriously, this place is one of my favorite places in Tustin. The service one inside is efficient, and the ambience is a bit noisy and packed, but this place is popular for a reason. I'll definitely revisit this spot when I get the chance.
First time coming here, and it was pretty busy when we went, but the service was nice and quick, which we really appreciated. We ordered the wontons with chili, spicy pork XL, pan fried dumplings, and mapo tofu with rice. I enjoyed the wontons with chili the most they reminded me a lot of Din Tai Fung! Overall, I think the prices and portions were fair. I wasn't a huge fan of the mapo tofu because it had a numbing type of spice that was a little too much for me, but everything else we ordered was really good.
Our family stopped by for lunch on the way to Anaheim. Check-in on a tablet outside the restaurant where you will receive a text when your table is ready. Tip is to arrive early to avoid a longer wait time. Our party ordered: chicken katsu, 2 orders of the Seven Grams XLB, crab roe XLB (must try!), scallion pancake, ham fried rice, golden prime beef noodle soup, and the roasted oolong light milk tea (with crystal boba). All the dishes were delicious and good for sharing. The food came out promptly. The next time we're in the area, we'll want to stop by try their other items (beef roll, wonton w/ chili sauce, and shrimp XLB). Enjoy!
I thought Seven Grams was a 9 out of 10! Although the Seven Grams XLB was not quite as good as Din Tai Fung, it was pretty good, 8/10. The chicken Katsu was not as good as Mrs Futagaki's homemade, but still a 10 of 10. Although I wasn't a fan of the Lava Custard Buns, they were a little too eggy for me, I would give them a 7 out of 10 for the portion size and the presentation. I will definitely come back to try new things and I enjoyed my conversation with Benson ... one of the servers.
Seven Grams is good for a quick casual lunch bite. The menu feels very snacky with no real stand out dishes. My kiddo enjoyed the spicy wontons, it's their chili sauce that shines. We also had the golden beef noodle soup. I wish they had a non spicy option because it was too spicy for us. The drinks on the other hand are amazing. I had the passion fruit green tea and really liked it. It had real passion fruit in there, not just powder. Kiddo also enjoyed their matcha strawberry drink. It was very creamy and rich. The drinks were pretty cheap, I think mine was under $5 and the matcha was like $6.50.

Seven Grams of flour for the XLB or seven grams of deliciousness? I'll take either one! I've been wanting to try this place for a while, and the last few times we came, the wait was too long. This past Sunday, we arrived around 11:30 a.m. and only waited less than 20 minutes. Ambiance (4/5) Modern and clean with a noodle bar and communal tables. The tables are pretty close together, you can easily hear the teenage girls next to you chatting about their crushes . Service (4/5) On point and fast. Not much interaction, but efficient. Food (5/5) * Pork XLB (5/5): My new favorite XLB outside of DTF. The skin is thin, the pork filling light and flavorful, and the folds perfectly done. * Crab and Pork XLB (3/5): A little fishy for our taste. Probably won't order again. * Beef Rolls (4/5): Exactly what a good beef wrap should taste like. * Golden Prime Beef Noodle Soup (4/5): Light, flavorful, and comforting, perfect for a cold or lazy day. * Pig Ear Salad (5/5): So good! Crunchy, flavorful, and a must-get next time. * Spicy Wontons (5/5): Fresh, well-seasoned, and packed with flavor. Great little spot! It's a bit on the cozy side, so expect a 15-20 minute wait during peak times, but it's completely worth it. Everything we ordered was fantastic--the scallion oil noodles were super flavorful, the pan-fried dumplings had that perfect crispy bottom, and the fried cutlet was extra crispy and delicious with the dipping sauce. Plus, having free parking right outside makes coming here super easy. Will definitely be back! read more

We were in the area coz the hubs had to do some business in Irvine. I called my good friend and she recommended this place. Cross between a fast food and sit down. Loved the decor inside. We got seated right away coz we got there at 5pm on a Wednesday evening. I think if we got there later, we would have to wait. We got the bacon creamy noodles, fried rice, dumplings in chili oil and cucumber. Very tasty. If you are craving Asian in Irvine, you should try. read more

The beef rolls are my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE, I would come back here again and again just for the beef rolls tbh. This was my first time having something like this and it was SO GOOD, I've never seen it offered anywhere else but it has the perfect flavors and textures with the beef and veggies and thin crispy exterior. We also ordered almost every XLB off the menu to try since it was a first time. The prices are definitely wayyyy better than din tai dung and still just as delicious, I think the crab was my favorite since it was something else that I haven't seen offered at a lot of places so it was unique to me. Potato string shrimp were just ok, compared to the rest of the food not my fav but still good, interesting texture with the thin crispy potato string wrapped around the outside of the shrimp. For dessert the taro XLB is a must! The passionfruit green tea is p good, refreshing, might be too sweet for some people but I like sweet drinks so I enjoyed it! Service is fast, once you are seated they are very efficient here. We even got an order of the beef rolls to go and they were on top of it and made sure it was ready by the time we were done w our meal. I would advise to come on a weekday since weekends can get PACKED, the wait on the weekend could definitely become quite long depending on what time you go but rarely is there a wait during the weekdays lunch time. The food here was overall disappointing. I wanted to keep an open mind despite there being butter noodles on the menu at a Chinese restaurant. I tried the pan fried chicken and shrimp dumplings, which were not pan fried long enough as the bottoms were not crispy at all. The filling was a weird fish cake texture as the chicken and shrimp were ground together without much other seasoning or veggies. The golden prime beef noodle soup was okay but the broth is extremely spicy and the beef is certainly not prime quality. Parking - big parking lot in a plaza We ordered a handful of things Wontons with chili oil- this was pretty good, the sauce it was in wasn't too spicy and it was more on the sweeter side. I would get this again (8/10) Pan fried dumpling - came out HOT, they were decent size and juicy (7.5/10) I would also get this again Beef pancake - too crispy I didn't like very much (3/10) Ham fried rice - tastes exactly like what you think it would. Came here at opening on weekend. There was already a line but we were able to be seated right away. Food didn't take long to arrive. 1. Xiao long bao 2. Shrimp xiao long bao 3. Spicy chili wonton 4. Beef roll 5. Scallion pancake 6. Pan fried pork dumpling 7. Golden prime beef noodles soup Everything was good except the pan fried pork dumpling. Seems like someone missed seasoning the meat. Both xiao long baos were good and TBH I think they're better then DTF. Spicy wonton has a nice flavor and the beef noodle soup was slightly spicy with tender meat. Yelp waitlist doesn't work on the app only in person when you arrive. The approx wait time was still 30-45min+ depending on the size of your party. If you're open to ordering "to-go" would recommend that for sure! Love their product food pictures online to get a better understanding of what you're going to eat. FOOD 4/5 - Wonton With Chili Sauce 6pcs = amazing! = recommend - Beef Roll 6pcs = chunky and def better than Northern Cafe - Cucumber Salad = the standard - Taro XLB 6pcs = pass bland tasting - Spicy XLB 6pcs = recommend - Seven Grams XLB 6pcs = recommend PARKING 4/5 Tons of parking throughout the entire shopping complex SERVICE x AMBIENCE 4/5 Small tables and bar seating throughout restaurant. Im in the OC for work and wanted dumplings and found this place on Yelp. The reviews did not do this justice. Service was very friendly and engaging. Food, excellent i ate too much and it was excellent. Ambiance was nice, not over the too asian but in a casual way. Overall I had an excellent experience here i will be back when Im in town. read more
i love love love the cucumber salad. My partner said it's a little too sour for his liking but I think it makes the cucumber very refreshing and addicting. So keep that in mind! The broccoli was delicious, it can use a little more salt and seasoning, but I dipped it in a little bit of the soy sauce and it was perfect!! The xiao long bao and pan fried dumplings tasted quite similar to each other but both of them were very juicy and tasty! Highly recommend those too. I wish The custard bun has more fillings in it but it was a great dessert and satisfied my cravings very well. I also got watermelon juice, I'm not sure if they actually used fresh watermelon but it tasted very fresh haha. Nice interior and vibe, maybe mid-higher end? Altho the price is quite affordable, but works great for a semi casual date! The server didn't really check on us and we weren't served water (but we also ordered separate drinks so maybe that's why). Food came out a bit slow but not the biggest problem ever!! Found this place through Yelp and wow, it did not disappoint! Definitely worth the 30 minute wait! We ordered the beef rolls (5/5), prime soup (5/5), chili oil dumplings (5/5), Seven Grams soup dumplings (4/5), and chicken katsu (3/5). The standouts were definitely the beef rolls, prime soup, and chili oil dumplings, everything was flavorful and came out fresh. The soup dumplings were good, though not our favorite, and the chicken katsu was just okay. The service was great and food came out really fast. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be coming back to try more items on the menu! read more

Beef Wrap 10/10- this is the best beef wrap I've tried! It's so good and has hoisin sauce, cucumbers, and green onion. The flaky bread it comes in literally melts in your mouth and the beef is very good. I love how they put a generous amount of beef in each roll so every bite is packed with flavor. Potato String Shrimp 7.86/10- this was yummy and I loved the sweet chili sauce they gave with it. I think it was a bit too over fried for me even though that's how it should be prepared. Good to try but I probably wouldn't get it again as I preferred their other dishes a lot more. Garlic Butter Shrimp Noodles 8.27/10- this was very tasty! Made with noodles, shrimp, bacon, butter, and garlic. I really enjoyed their garlic noodles and the bacon added lots of flavor to the dish. There could definitely be more shrimp added though. Seafood Fried Rice 10/10- made with scallops and shrimp. This was absolutely incredible! Definitely one of my favorite Asian rice dishes that I've had. It almost reminds me a bit of Benihana's rice the way it's made but it's so yummy and perfect with their chili sauce. Crab XLB 10/10- one of my favorite XLB that I've tried! This has SO much flavor and when you bite into it, the soup just bursts out with amazing crab taste. The wrapper was delicate and perfectly steamed. Pan Fried Dumplings 6.58/10- I wasn't a huge fan of these as the pork flavor was pretty strong and I'm not a huge fan of pork. The consistency was made well and it went well with their sauce, but I'd definitely get more XLB instead. Cucumber Salad 9.53/10- I loved how this was pretty sweet and refreshing! It was the perfect palate cleanser between all the rich dishes and had great crunch. Buckwheat Tea- this was a perfect complement to the entire meal! So warm and soothing, and it helped cleanse the palate. I've been meaning to come to Seven Grams for a while as a lot of people say it's a Din Tai Fung dupe but way better, and I honestly much prefer it over DTF! Terrible service. It's very off putting when the first person that you see at the restaurant gives you shit face. First, I said the wrong name for the check-in name and the host just gave me a stair down. Most hosts would have said oh you're looking for to go or you put the names down? She just looked at me like I'm an idiot. Once I sat down, there was no menu or anything given to me. I had to get my on menu. Additionally, I sat on the table for literally 10 mins before anyone served me. Why does it take that long? The food here is not that bad. But not good when you mix it with terrible service. The portion is not bad, small though compare to other Asian restaurant. The restaurant is small, so if you have a larger party, expect a long wait. read more

Delicious place, it was my first time trying the wheat dumplings and the beams matcha and everything was amazing, we also try some other things i really love all, i like the deco, inside it's really cute, the place is pretty big but they get a lot of people always, that is why we went on a week day, everything was fast and good still. My family had heard about this place and we decided to check it out! On a Sunday night it was about an hour wait but once we were seated service was pretty fast! I wouldn't say the food was life changing but it was good and definitely fulfilled a craving! We got their XLB and beef rolls and the beef noodle soup and all of it was good! I wouldn't say recommend getting a variety for sure! Parking wasn't too bad even during the rush - we did just have t part a little further and walk over. We weren't seated at a table but at the counter (we chose first available seating) which made it more difficult to share but not impossible! read more
Waitlllist on Yelp was not working, but they have a screen outside to use. We were seated in 25 minutes, after arriving at about 2:15 on a Saturday. Servers are all very friendly, food came out super fast. The ham fried rice tasted great, and had a good amount of ham. Beef rolls are on the sweeter side, probably because of the hoisin sauce. They tasted very fresh, almost spring roll-like because of the produce. We got the crab and Seven Grams XLB. Skin is not as thin as you know where, but they are full of flavor. I'm not a huge seafood person, so I would definitely stick with the Seven Grams version (Kurobuta Pork). The custard buns have a enough filling that makes it hard to leave any of the outside bun. Its got a good consistency, as well. We look forward to trying their noodle dishes next time. read more

Finally had a chance to stop by and try seven grams. The wait is always pretty long but coming on a random tuesday was a good idea. Staff was very friendly. We were able to sit down right away. We ordered the Cold noodles with chili oil, please be careful when ordering this dish if you have peanut allergies. We probably didnt see it on the menu correctly, but the sauce does contain peanuts besides the crushed peanuts thay were on top. Staff was very helpful when we asked if anything else had peanuts. We also ordered the Cheese chicken roll, Mason Tofu, the chicken and shrimp pan fried dumplings, and the lotus root fries. The cheese chicken roll is delicious, but on the heavier side compared to their other dishes. The dumplings were pretty good, but left us wanting for something a little different. The lotus root fries were really good, similar in texture to yucca fries if anyone else has tried them. The noodles were flavorful and delicious. The standout for us was the mapo tofu. Anytime a place has mapo tofu without the ground meat, it is an instant order. Really strong spices, with that numbing sensation. Definitely a must order if you enjoy mapo tofu. Definitely will be back to try other stuff and some of their drinks. read more

This place is such a hidden gem, the food was excellent and is reasonably priced! The interior was clean and has a nice modern theme. The seven gram XLB was flavorful and tasty. I would highly recommend the beef roll, it was absolutely delicious packed with meat with a flaky and crispy wrap! read more

I've been here twice, and I've loved it both times! The food is super tasty and authentic, and prices are reasonable. Ordered from most favorite to least favorite (all great, though): GYUDON (Japanese beef rice bowl) (5/5): Definitely one of my favorite dishes here, the beef is marinated really well and pairs really well with the broccoli and rice. Seven Grams XLB (5/5): Super authentic and full of soup. Pig ear salad (5/5): Tastes just like pig ear salad should, spicy and slightly salty. Very yummy :) Golden Prime Beef Noodle Soup (5/5): Savory and full of beef and noodles. Would recommend. Noodle with Scallion Oil Sauce (5/5): Great taste, portion was a little small, but was definitely priced accordingly. Beef Roll (5/5): Yummy, with the outer scallion pancake baked to a crisp. Haven't eaten here in quite some time, but I am reminded why I love this place. With each bite you realize all the people behind the scenes truly care. You just know. We didn't see the garlic shrimp pasta on the menu before since it's been awhile, so we ordered one of those. Good decision! Service is still excellent. Came here after work on Friday around 6 but it was pretty busy. Seating was quick though which was really nice. I think they get a lot busier later. We got a little bit of everything but the Spicy XLB was amazing. Everything was delicious and I would definitely recommend! read more
It was 1:20pm and there was a line of 8 people ahead of me, some were in a party of 10 people. Had a great solo lunch on Saturday after the gym. Got their beef roll (nice and crispy). And had more beef filling this time. Eat it with their chili oil mixed with black vinegar (a touch of giner). Their pork dumplings in chili oil is always spot on great. Decided to try something new and tried their seafood fried rice (it was moist, had a good amt of seafood - scallops and shrimp). Their cucumbers are always good, a little on the sweet side. When I put their chili oil on it, it tastes wonderful. Tried their iced Jasmine tea. I asked for little ice, they put a good amt of ice (oh well). My tea tasted sweet, next time I will be sure to ask for no sugar. Service was solid, excellent, attentive. It was a great day. read more

This was an interesting experience overall. We were right by the servers station by the back bar, aka the area they use for prepping food, stacking and stocking, handing out things. We got called and we waited for them to clear the station. This location is small. Considering that we came for dumplings, we didn't need much space. I enjoyed the dumplings, were they great? Idk I still am undecided. They were pretty good as far as the juice in the dumpling goes. They're not super dry or anything. I see this whole concept similar to other popular dumpling places. I've been here a couple times before this as well. I tried a number of different things. The dumplings were what they are known for. At this point, I don't think I can distinguish this place over other places I've tried. read more
Restaurant is very cozy and quaint. Seating is close but not crowded. Staff was attentive and friendly. We ordered the 1. Seven Grams XLB was juicy with a thin skin, excellent flavor. 2. Shrimp XLB also excellent, individual flavors shine through. 3. Spicy XLB was slightly spicy, also excellent. 4. Beef roll was slightly sweet, great flavor and texture. 5. Pickled green beans prime beef noodle soup was quite spicy 6. Ham fried rice was great fried rice 7.. Taro XLB was sweet with perfect textured filling and skin 8. My friends and I came here on a Sunday evening for dinner and there were a bunch of groups outside! We waited about 30 mins for 3 ppl and got seated at the bar counter. We got the spicy pork xlb, og pork xlb, spicy wontons, garlic butter shrimp, and beef rolls (not pictured). The spicy xlb wasn't spicy imo, but it did have a different flavor profile than the og. If you enjoy XLB, this place is a good alternative to the long-lines of Din Tai Fung. The wonton with chili sauce is good, and pan-fried dumplings are decent. I enjoyed the sesame ball...smaller bite sized, not too sweet and served warm. However, the other items that we tried were average. The tomato beef noodle soup is alright... wish they had the braised in soy sauce version (紅燒). Skip the ham fried rice...not very memorable. When you come, focus on xiaolongbao and dumplings. Service is friendly. A good local eats in Tustin. read more

Modern touches, clean and bright is my first impression here. And I would come back if I had a craving for elite level XLB without DTF level prices. Cucumber salad Persian cucumber, kept crisp and refreshing - they put chilies on top, but it's not spicy at all. Broccoli with oyster sauce Fresh broccoli, garlic, wasabi sauce that is to DIE for. I ended up dipping the cucumbers slices in here as well. Seven Grams XLB Kurobuta pork thinly ground and steamed in supple dumpling wrap. Must know how to delicately pick up and place the pouch on a spoon without releasing the juic Interesting fact: each XLB weighs 7 grams which is how the restaurant got its name! Pan fried dumplings Pork, fish, black, sesame, green onion. This underwhelmed a little since it was undercooked and not crispy enough on the bottom. It needs to be a much darker browned but our particular batch was a faint light brown. In hindsight, I should have sent it back. Seafood fried rice Green peas and carrots, corn, mushrooms, scallops, shrimp, white rice, egg, black, sesame, green onion. The shrimp is succulent but there were only three. Like most fried rices, keeps wonderfully as leftovers. Mao tofu (with rice) Tofu, mushroom and hints of schezuan pepper corn. Comes appropriately with a mound of steamed rice. Lacking somewhat in ground beef volume. Almost thought it was a vegetarian dish. A day later, contemplating my notes, I'm downshifting to a three star experience. This place was so good! I got the woodear mushroom salad, mapo tofu, seven grams XLB, and beef roll. The woodear mushroom salad was excellent and super refreshing. The mapo tofu was my favorite dish; the flavors were so well-balanced. The XLB was good but a little too oily for my liking. I also really liked the beef rolls, which were very flavorful. Overall, this place gets 5 stars from me. The restaurant was busy, but everything seemed to be under control, and staff was nice. read more

Service dogs yes, but I don't think dogs would be very comfortable in the restaurant. It's usually very busy and cramped.
When is Dim Sum served?
They only have dumplings, noodles, beef roll, and side dishes...no dim sum. They open from M-Sat:11-9:30pm & Sunday: 11-9pm
Do the scallion pancakes contain egg?
I don't think they have egg. Not completely sure, but traditional scallion pancake is usually just flour, scallion, salt, water, oil
