We come here for the Beef Short Rib Oil Splashed Hand-Pulled Noodles; it's a good portion size but you're definitely paying for the quality. The food was always good but I believe they got new management or staff. In the past, the cashiers were forgetful and always made mistakes with our order so I was glad to see this update. The new staff I interacted with seemed sharper and more professional. The interior is clean and bright with only a couple tables but there are plenty of tables outside. The restaurant used to have a combo deal with a drink & salad that I think went away and I'll have to check if they any have specials next time I go.
We are in the mood for some dim sum but didn't want to drive to garden grove so saw this place in the plaza nearby with pretty reasonable prices for XLB. First appearance I thought was odd is ordering first then sitting down so it's lot full service really and you have to stand around the front figuring out what to order before finding a seat. Staff were friendly and the ambience is pretty nice with interesting seating placement. Kinda like your at a unique family style dinner table that feels like your at the library. Sounds weird but those who have been there will be able to picture it. For the food. I ordered everything that was labeled a "Must Try" on the menu; Short Rib splashed chili oil hand pulled noodle: 2/5 Thought this was really bland and the meat was dry and flavorless, pricey at $18.75. Noodles were too think and chewy, difficult to pick up with chopsticks Garlic Butter Noodles: 4/5 Kids enjoyed but I thought portion was pretty small for $12.50 Wonton Soup: 5/5 10 pieces for $12, broth was light and tasty, would have been stellar with some thin noodles in there for a more complete meal Pork and Cabbage Shu Mai: 4/5 Not exactly what I was thinking of when ordering Shu Mai, guess I'm used to thinking about the Japanese style version. There are big though, about twice the size of an XLB and stuffed fully. Bit dry at the top from not being wet when steamed so the tip dried up. I think they were about 3 for $6.75 and 6 for $12.75 XLB: 4/5 Decent for the price and reason why we came here, other places charge a bit more but these were not bad. Wife thought skin was too thin. I think they were 4 for $5 or 8 for $9 Overall the food was ok, pretty decent for something close by. Plus for friendly staff and ambience. Has a slight fly problem there. Would try again sometime in the future some other items to see id they fair better
Close to Main Mall, you'll find this little chinese restaurant. You order at the front and then proceed to take a seat. They will bring your food to your table. The restaurant is nice and offers high chairs and baby/toddler plates as well as scissors. The XLB skin was not too thick but not paper thin. It was juicy and the filling had a nice mouth feel. The price is hard to beat! We also tried their garlic butter noodles with meat sauce which were overdone and mushy. The beef soup was huge and the meat was cooked to perfect tenderness. Pour a little vinegar on the side to dip the meat and add a little chili oil to the soup and you've got a keeper! We also ordered their Roujiamou (pork burger) which was nice and steaming. For $6, I wish it was slightly bigger but would definitely get again. The pork was sweet, succulent and mouth watering. This was a lovely surprise of a restaurant and I would recommend it if you wanna skip the food court mall food at Main Mall.

Food - ordered the short rib oil splashed noodles, minced pork belly, and a lemonade. The noodle dish was extremely flavorful and the noodles had good texture and weren't too chewy. The short rib wasn't that good, it could've been more tender or it would've been better pulled and more integrated in the dish. The pork belly was extremely tender and the fat literally melted in my mouth and the fried whole egg was interesting. The lemonade wasn't store bought and was actually really good (as someone who orders a lemonade nearly everywhere) it had a good ratio of sweet to sour and complemented the dishes overall. I think what makes the dishes so good is that it genuinely feels like I'm in China. The flavors are so spot on especially for a random restaurant I found in Santa Ana. I was going to gatekeep this place because it's lowkey and fire. Service - you order food at the front and get seated and they bring the food to you so there isn't much service but the people are nice Ambiance - the interior is nice and well lit it's definitely kept well Im giving it a 4/5 because I think some of the dishes still have room for improvement even though they are fantastic. Realistically I would give this place like a 4.5, the yelp rating is extremely accurate for the quality of this restaurant.
I love hand-cut noodles, so I was excited to hear Xibei Eatery opened nearby. The interior is more upscale than the surrounding shopping center suggests, with a polished, modern feel you might find at South Coast Plaza. The noodle-making station up front adds personality and lets you watch the noodles being made before they hit your bowl. We were warmly welcomed and seated, though ordering is done via tablet, which removes some of the traditional restaurant interaction. We started with the scallion pancake, which was light, crisp, and fluffy. The Xiao Long Bao dumplings were pretty good, though Orange County has so many strong dumpling spots that it's a tough category to stand out in. The wonton soup was tasty, but the portion was a bit disappointing, with rather small wontons. My favorite dish was the oil-splashed hand-cut noodles, which had a nice thickness and chewy texture, served with two meaty ribs and a spicy oil glaze. While flavorful and satisfying, the food was a bit too rich for my tastes. Oil features prominently in several dishes, which can make things feel heavy. That said, I'll definitely be back. There's still plenty on the menu I want to try!
You order at the front and then find a spot to sit. The inside is pretty spacious, with a long table for bigger parties and some smaller tables. The biang biang noodles were pretty good, but it was basically just noodles in a chili oil sauce with boiled broccoli. The xiu mai wasn't very authentic either, and the filling was kind of interesting with corn in it. Overall, it's not a bad place, but it's also not somewhere I'd go out of my way to eat at.
Recommend getting the beef ribs noodles, the thick noodles made it unique and they offered it with tender beef ribs. Can skip on the xlb and uni dumplings. The xlb had thicker skin than what I'm used to. The uni dumplings definitely had that seafood taste for those seafood sensitive. XIBEI Eatery was a solid find, especially if you're a fan of hand-pulled noodles and dumplings. The Beef Short Rib Oil Splashed Hand-Pulled Noodles were savory with a pleasant little kick of spice. The noodles themselves were the star--wonderfully toothsome with that satisfying al dente chew you want from hand-pulled noodles. The oil-based sauce was flavorful, although a bit thin for my taste. I'm firmly in the "give me extra sauciness" camp, so I would've loved a little more sauce clinging to those noodles. The beef short rib, however, needed no improvement. Deliciously tender and practically falling apart in my mouth. Definitely a highlight. The soup dumplings delivered where it counts: they were nicely soupy! The assorted handmade shumai were generously meaty as well, although I didn't pick up much of the vegetable profile in the beef and onion version. My biggest suggestion would be to expand the dipping sauce department. Soy sauce and vinegar were the only options available, and while perfectly serviceable, these dumplings deserve a little more excitement. A ginger-based sauce--or really two or three different dipping options--would be a welcome addition for both the shumai and soup dumplings. Give us something to dip, mix, and experiment with! The restaurant itself is nicely appointed and there were plenty of tables available during my visit. The setup is casual and easy: order at the counter first, grab a seat, put your number on the table, and your food is delivered to you. Overall, some very good flavors, excellent noodle texture, tender short rib, and properly soupy dumplings. A few extra sauce options would kick things up another notch. Give XIBEI Eatery a try! Came here for dinner. The staff is friendly and very helpful with giving suggestions and answering questions. The place is clean with pretty decor. We started with scallion pancake and cucumber salad. For our mains, we got uni and shrimp shumai and pork xiao long bao. Finished it with the crispy millet bomb. Uni and Shrimp Shumai- This was a fun and unique flavor! The uni and shrimp blend was tasty and everything felt fresh. Wonderful presentation too. Pork Xiao Long Bao- Can't beat a classic. Pork was savory and with a good amount of broth. Served fresh and hot. Scallion Pancake- Pancake has the perfect thickness and texture with the crispy top. You get a lovely scallion flavor with each bite. Cucumber Salad- This was a wonderful palate cleanser. Cucumber is crisp and refreshing. Dressing was a nice blend of sweet and savory. Crispy Millet Bomb- This was a fun surprise! You get a crisp edge with a chewy interior. The best part was the lava brown sugar center that had just the right amount of sweetness. Great experience overall!
Been wanting to try this restaurant ever since they opened. Found a really good buy one, get one free uber eats deal for pick up. Definitely a tasty option in Orange as every food is made from scratch. Next time, definitely going to try the restaurant for dine in.
We had the xiao long bao, beef short rib hand pulled noodles, sesame paste flat noodles, and Chinese pork burger. There were about 5 noodle strands, but they were all super long where I can hold it to my face and they were still long enough to touch the bowl. The flavor and texture of the noodles were pretty nice and it was my favorite thing to eat. Xiao long bao were decent, though some of them did not have that much soup in there. The Chinese pork burger had a nice crunchy texture on the buns. The sesame noodles seemed lacking in flavor so we just mixed the spicy sauce from the hand pulled noodles. Though I will say some of the food came out at different times like 20 mins after.
Ordered takeout so cannot comment on service and ambience. Food was horrible. Chicken was barely seasoned + was cooked in watered down broth while potatoes were undercooked and stiff. Spicy noodles were watered down. Expensive given the quality of food and portions. Why is half my bowl just rice for $20+?

Saw an add for this place a few months ago and finally made it. The location was a little small, but the decor was cute. Everything seemed clean. We ordered the Cucumber Salad, the Minced Pork Oil Splashed Hand Pulled Noodles, the Dan Dan Noodles, the Uni & Shrimp Shu Mai, and the Xiao Long Bao. From best to least: Uni & Shrimp Shu Mai - uniquely delicious. We ordered 3, but next time, I would order the whole basket. The taste was so on point and delicious. The Oil Splashed Noodles - so chewy and delicious. They had the best mouth feel, so rich and luxurious. The minced pork was delicious, too, but ended up sitting at the bottom of the bowl to be taken home. It was delicious, but unnecessary. Next time, I'm going to order the Classic. Dan Dan Noodles -these were good with a great sesame aroma. If we had had them anywhere else, I would have said they were excellent, but compared to the hand-pulled Noodles, they were only good. I would order them again if the location was out of the other Noodles. Xiao Long Bao - better than Paradise, not as good as DTF. They had the sane flavor profile as TJs. I would eat them again if other items were sold out. Cucumber Salad - very simple. It was edible, but the simplest Cucumber Salad I've ever eaten. Its the first time Ive met a Cucumber Salad I didn't love. Would not buy again. Alejandra took our order and briught us water refills. She was so sweet and kind. Great hand-pulled noodles at Xibei Eatery! The oil-splashing noodles were nice and chewy and not as spicy as it looked. Also got the beef brisket noodle soup, which was good - though I think next time I'll get the hand-pulled noodles instead. Interior is clean and modern. You order at the counter and are given a number to take with you to your table. Service is great and they will check on you after you get your food to make sure all is good. Plenty of parking in the lot! read more
I love hand pulled noodles and this spot did not disappoint! The hand pulled noodles with short rib came with deliciously chewy noodles that soaked up the chili sauce so well. The short rib was also tender and fall off the bone. We also ordered the 4pc xiao long bao, which was pretty standard. The mapo tofu was definitely a miss for me, I thought it was lacking in flavor and I was excepting the tofu to be soft. The restaurant is pretty casual but also has a clean and modern setup. You order at the cashier in the front and your food is brought to your table by the nice staff. I would definitely come back for the hand pulled noodles! read more

Not sure why it's rated so high, got the beef brisket noodle soup and got a handful of tiny pieces of meat and a couple small pieces of bok choy along with noodles that were too soft. For 18.75, I feel like I got scammed because the flavor was mid even after adding chili oil. The restaurant was also very warm, don't think they had air conditioning on. Wouldn't go back personally. read more
Fresh hand made noodles which are extremely flavorful! A variety of menu items from pork soup dumplings to ma po tofu, specialty drinks and more. The pork soup dumplings (xiao long bao) are tasty and affordable. The tofu is unfortunately quite bland and def needs some work (utilized firm tofu instead of soft). The garlic broccoli was also overcooked (soft & brittle) and quickly overlooked due to the texture. The service is quick and friendly, with an easy going environment for all groups/families. May need to arrive outside of peak hours if coming with a large party for better seating. Looking forward to trying additional noodle dishes in future, since it is hand pulled! read more
Very friendly service and good noodles. The portions are huge and I couldn't finish even though I actively tried. The siu mai was very unique and flavorful as well. The jasmine green tea was good, not too sweet. The rose grape green tea was good too and I could taste the tea. I don't usually expect drinks at restaurants to be good so this was very surprising. Inside is clean and welcoming. The bathroom was clean when I went. I would come again! read more
Xibei Eatery introduces Northwestern Chinese cuisine to Santa Ana's food scene. They specialize in authentic regional specialties like hand-pulled noodles, unique oat-based dishes, and street food. The customer service is above and beyond. The manager in particular was very friendly and even went so far as to comp our party of 6 with dessert. We really wanted to enjoy this dining experience, but the taste and texture fell short of expectations. I started with the Golden Berry Juice and it was too sour for my liking. For my entree, I ordered the Beef Short Rib Oil Splashed Hand-Pulled Noodles. I hate to say it but I've had much better hand-pulled noodles elsewhere and the dish didn't offer much flavor other than for spice. The Xiao Long Bao and Shumai were underwhelming too. Our server also forgot one of the dishes we ordered, so we ended up canceling it. IMO there is a lot to improve on, but I wish Xibei Eatery all the best! read more

Solid 4 star experience. The food was flavorful, but I'm a sucker for a traditional old school Chinese spot. This is new school stuff. I tried the soup dumplings, which were good. The diced pork over rice, would have been nicer crispier. I thought the sauce was ok but overdone. I'm not a heavy sauce person so if you like a heavy sauce this is your dish. I'd come back to try another dish. read more
I rarely give 1-star reviews, but the crime they committed here warranted nothing less. While we were eating at a booth, there was a cockroach running right behind us! We tried to catch it, but it hid in a corner between the wall and the wall light fixture. The staff could not get to it, and advised that we moved to another table. And so without their help, we had to move every dish and food ourselves to a nearby table. Then we saw another group of patrons come and sit in that very same booth. The staff acted like nothing happened and only apologized. They didn't close the booth, didn't offer to help us move - nothing. I suspect this is a recurring issue, since the staff didn't do anything about it. The only thing good about this place was the uni and shrimp shumai- it was flavorful and well balanced. None of the other food tasted particularly good, even before we saw the roach. Definitely would not recommend or return. read more

Xibei Eatery had such delicious food and everyone was friendly! Service was quick and our waiter, Mars, was the sweetest ever! I got to meet another named Mark and he was very accommodating and made sure all of our questions were answered. We ordered 7 dishes and 2 drinks coming to a total of $120.99 which was an amazing bill for everything we got! There was no wait and the place was so pretty inside! Clean and ready to go. The food was amazing. Their hand pulled noodles were so soft and chewy with a little bit of spice. I also loved their garlic noodles a lot! Their Passion fruit green tea was so refreshing and paired well with all the food. Parking was shared in a plaza but the spot was easy to find. overall would give this place a 5 star rating! read more

If you're looking for an authentic Chinese noodle shop, Xibei Eatery may be a contender for the best in OC! I came here last night for dinner with 3 of my friends, and we ordered several noodle dishes, the infamous XLB, uni shumai dumplings, popcorn chicken, pork belly, garlic butter broccoli, and sweet drinks. We did not wait long for our food, and everything was a hit! We were all satisfied with the portions as well as the clean interior of the restaurant. Special thanks to the staff lead, Mark, who served us and stopped by frequently to make sure we were happy with our dining experience. I would perhaps compare Xibei Eatery to Six Alley Biang Biang Noodles, which is also in Santa Ana and known for their hand-pulled noodles. Food: solid, less mala/numbing spice than I expected but good flavors, standard spice is less than siracha level. The xlb was the fave of the table, but genuinely enjoyed everything we ordered. Even the drinks were delicious - rose red grape was the fav! Service: maybe they're trying to figure out logistics, but service was super slow. Orders were mixed up and we couldn't get any water until we were almost done with our food. They are very friendly, but definitely bewildered . Interior: cool seating options, may have to share tables. Can accomdate large parties (6+) but if it's snug you can sit outside as well. New Chinese hand pulled noodles spot in Santa Ana located in the strip mall with mother's market across from main place mall. We ordered both the minced pork and braised beef with chili oil noodles and wow the bowls are HUGE so maybe order one to share. Both were so good so depends which protein you would prefer. It wasn't really spicy so nothing to worry about. We also ordered the cucumber salad and absolutely loved the sauce they used with it, we even poured it into our noodles for extra flavor. I also ordered the popcorn chicken which you can ask for spicy powder on the side. The braised pork was cooked to perfection and flavorful. We really liked each dish we ordered and thought they were all decently priced. The service here was really nice too! We would definitely come back when we're craving pulled noodles. And maybe we'll try the dumplings next time. read more

First impression of the food, this is the seltzer water version of Chinese food. You have the essence but none of the substance. Not sure what kind of batter the salt & pepper pork was used, but it was dense and could barely taste any salt/pepper, much less pork. Was also dry. Garlic noodles - could knock out a vampire Short rib oil noodles - noodles were good, but way too wide. Sauce was not spicy, but also not a lot of flavor. Feels like they took Chinese food and blanched it for the western palate. If you're looking for entry level, you found it. read more

I love how customizable and simple the menu is, we got a little bit of everything to try out. My favorite was the Minced Pork Rice bowl, it was perfectly seasoned and so tender. The portions here are the best bang for your buck, we were stuffed and even had leftovers to bring home. Their Jasmine Milk Tea really surprised me, it's even better than some boba spots that I've tried. If you're looking for a strong tea flavor, I highly recommend it. #1 ambiance 5/5 -simple yet elegant place to hve an intimate dinner with loved ones #2 Beef Short Rib Oil Splashed Hand-Pulled Noodles - perfectly salty, tangy, spicy, and overall bursting wuth flavor. The texture of the noodles was adewuately chrwing, definitely filling the stomach. Good portion sizes. They had a promo wherein the dish came with salad and a jasmine drink. #3 Dan-dan noodles (not spicy) - great value for the price very filling. This place has one of the best customer services ever. They immediately greeted me with a warm smile & the owner is so sweet! They are very attentive and nice. The food is here so good as well. The restaurant is well designed with nice ambiance. The service was quite good, our waiter introduced the menu to us and recommended a few dishes that's must order. I had never had the uni shumai previously, it was very tasty with lots of filling, highly recommend. The other zucchini shrimp shumai was just ok, kinda pricey but not as good as the uni one, I would definitely just order the uni shrimp shumai with more qty instead. The noodle was huge portion with the pot rib, I would recommend to include the scissor with the rib so it's easier to cut and eat. Otherwise overall very nice experience and would come back to try other dishes in future. read more

Allen was super friendly and helpful at the register, taking the time to give us solid recommendations before ringing us up. We ordered the chicken hand-pulled noodles, uni and shrimp shumai, and xiao long bao. You can actually see someone in the back hand-pulling the noodles fresh to order, and it shows, they were amazingly bouncy and fresh. It is a bigger portion, def sharable if you have anyone with you! The uni and shrimp shumai were the absolute highlight, featuring an intense, rich uni flavor that blended perfectly with the shrimp. While the xiao long bao were pretty standard compared to other spots, the overall food quality and welcoming service make this place well worth a visit! read more
Came during lunch on a Sunday. Wait time 30-40 minutes. Food: 10/10 Ordered 2 special beef rib noodles,1 oil noodle, beef shumai and pork shumai. The specials came with tea and salad but we never got our salad. They were really busy and the waitresses were really hustling. They had to bus the tables, deliver food and drinks, and deliver orders. I think they need more floor staff for sure. There was 1 waitress with black hair that was doing everything herself. They didn't have a real way to check in, just a piece of paper you put your name on. Their tables are really odd so you often have to sit with other parties. That was fine with us but there's also an odd indent in the table so it makes it difficult for the person on that side to eat. Food came out pretty quickly after we ordered. There was a lot of confusion on delivery though since they have multiple parties sitting at 1 table and if they don't correct the table # for what is being input, it all just goes to 1 table which is what happened while we were there. We had 1 order of Uni shrimp I really wanted to try but our order was never put in. My kids loved the food so that was a winner for them. The not spicy looks unseasoned but I promise it has an amazing sauce at the bottom. I would def try this place again maybe just not when they're so busy. They def have to reorganize to keep up with busy times. read more

I honestly didn't expect to have Xibei right in my neighborhood--so happy This location feels like a more casual branch, focusing on noodles , steamed dumplings , and Chinese burgers (roujiamo) . Perfect for a quick, everyday meal! They're currently in soft opening, and the combo deal is such a steal 18.75 = Braised Beef Rib Oil-Splashed Noodles + Drink + Salad (Which basically means the drink and salad are FREE!) The noodles are insanely fragrant--I even asked for extra chili oil, and it was so worth it‼ The signature beef ribs are super tender and fall right off the bone. Paired with the chewy noodles, it's incredibly satisfying. I finally got to try the Yellow Millet Rice Cake I missed last time in Arcadia Soft and chewy, drizzled with osmanthus syrup--lightly sweet, refreshing, and perfect for cutting through the richness. I liked it so much I ordered another one to go The steamed dumplings are HUGE! Just a heads-up when ordering--thin wrappers, super generous filling Besides pork and beef, they also have sea urchin & shrimp dumplings, which are surprisingly rare here. Super fresh and definitely worth trying I also asked about youmian (oat noodles), which I used to have back in China--the staff said they might add it to the menu soon! Upon entering we were greeted warmly by an employee at the front who was slightly helpful when she found out it was our first time.....the service started to go down hill shortly after that. I understand the dinner rush is stressful, but the girls working didn't seem to handle to rush very well. They seemed inexperienced and kept going to the tables with the reply of "sorry we are really busy" anytime a customer would ask for anything, which typically would be fine, however one of the girls gave some lingering attitude which didn't sit well with us at all. The food was okay. We got the beef short rib noodles and tbh the noodles were dry and the short rib was pretty lackluster. The popcorn chicken and the chili wings were our favorite and the cucumber salad was nothing spectacular. Overall, it's not bad but it's also nothing to go out of your way for in my opinion. Was really looking forward to trying them because of their high star rating but unfortunately I don't get that experience. read more
