Came in on a Friday night, seated in about 25 minutes by our server who I didn't even realize was our server. No introduction, didn't show us the menus, just had us sit. It wasn't fully packed by the time we sat down. While he was busy chatting with another table, we were waiting for 15 minutes before the guy who seated us came to take our order. We ordered and noticed people who were seated much later than us got their food already. Another server who brought food to the table next to us noticed us and asked if we got our food yet. He double checked for us and main server hadn't sent our order to the kitchen. We had already waited 25 minutes in addition after placing our order. I recently came here for lunch with a friend and had a great experience. I ordered the Spicy Beef Udon, while my friend had the cold soba noodles. We made a reservation for 5 for lunch on a Saturday. I would recommend to make a res if you're with a larger party, but if you're 2 people, you can probably walk in! They had no tako dishes (squid) of any form available at around 1:30 pm, saying it was all sold out. I ordered the spicy beef udon since I saw it online a lot, and it was definitely worth it! Both of their menus are very similar, and you will see some same dishes across the two. We started off with their crispy kara-age (fried chicken) which is best eaten with a squeeze of lemon and dunked into their yummy garlicky, oniony dipping sauce. Always best eaten right out of the fryer, piping hot. You just can't go wrong with their most popular app. For starters, we also got their blistered shishito peppers, which comes with bonito flakes dancing from the steam of the peppers. If you've never had shishito peppers before, they are very very mild in spiciness, but be warned you'll always have one extra spicy pepper when you least expect it! For our main, we got the spicy beef udon, which comes simmering in its metal bowl atop a fire, keeping it hot as you enjoy it slowly. The red broth has a nice kick of heat, but not so spicy that it will irritate your throat. The slices of beef are oh so tender and flavorful. The rich broth clings on perfectly to the thick udon noodles. If you're sharing, plan on getting extra udon noodles to soak up all that delicious broth! At the end, drop the cheesy rice ball into the broth to make a congee, soaking up more of that delicious broth. I visited on a Friday afternoon around 11:45AM shortly after they opened (11:30AM) and almost every table was filled already! There were two ladies taking orders so ordering was quick; the wait for the food to arrive was very long. I got the spicy seafood udon with standard spice, which took nearly 25 minutes. I would not recommend coming here during a work lunch because you will be rushing through your meal, as that was our experience. While the spicy seafood udon is delicious, the soup serving is small. A pro is that there is large shrimp in the soup and lots of baby clams. For a standard spice level, the soup was surprisingly very savory and spicy. Normally when I order something spicy at a Japanese restaurant, I expect the flavor to not actually be spicy. The udon comes with a fried rice ball with a cheese filling on the side. Shrimp Tempura for this price you get 5 pieces of tempura accompanied with the tempura dipping sauce. the tempura is perfectly crisp and flakey while staying soft inside! Spicy Beef Udon served in a boiling hot pot, this udon is spicy, hot and sizzling. the standard level of spice is free but to make it spicier there is an additional fee. the flavors of this udon were delicious and i liked the greens that came in it. there wasn't much beef inside and due to the sizzling pot my noodles got really soft faster than i could eat them. it also comes with a cheesy rice ball on the side that you're supposed to mix into your soup once you've finished the noodles. i personally didn't love it. i felt like it didn't really match the flavor of the soup and the outer crust of the ball was way too hard and crunchy for my liking, but my boyfriend thought it tasted good together so to each their own. The potato (tororo) added a nice light flavor to the udon as well. However it also gave a super slimy texture to the dish, so just a warning because this isn't a good dish for any picky eaters. Curry Udon - I always crave Japanese curry so I went with this option. The flavor is very warm and homey, but with such a thick broth, I got full really fast and couldn't finish it. Saw this place on social media and decided to give it a try. We ordered the viral spicy beef udon, and since I like spicy food, I upgraded to extra spicy (there is a $1 upcharge). I ordered the shabu shabu soba, which was not on the menu, but I was torn between beef curry soba and wanting shabu as the meat and the server offered a shabu shabu and soba combination. This was surprisingly filling and came in super hot. I got to try my friend's udon and that was just as good. If you like soba or udon, either hot or cold, here you go. Most noodle dishes were under $20. I saw that they had a crab udon on Tuesdays and Wednesdays only for dinner for $28, and looking at that photo made me salivate, so I may just come back for that alone. Our party of 2 got seated at the bar after waiting for 30 ish minutes?? Not bad for a weekend dinner tbh plus they were playing the bangers so the vibes were swanging We ordered a spicy shrimp & clam udon, spicy beef udon, spicy tuna roll & chicken karage The spicy tuna roll was fireeeeee The chicken karage was also fireeeee, so crispy and crunchy on the outside and juicy af chikin Bf and I both really liked our soups, the depth & flavor of the broth was so good But we both felt that the udon noodles were too hard, Al dente not rly our style. We tried to cook our noodles more since they came out in hot pots with the fire but it didn't cook the way we wanted so had to dock a star for that.. sorry... it's not u its me..
