MY FAVORITE REVOLVING SUSHI IN OC!! Definitely a step up from kura revolving sushi! They're smaller than I thought so makes sense why the wait is long. Super fresh fish, affordable prices, and quality reminds me of x-fish! They have plenty more dishes you can order on the ipad, including appetizers, sashimi, sushi rolls, and izakaya. Those items are either sent straight to you via the conveyor belt or robot delivery. Favorites: garlic salmon, truffle salmon, butter shrimp, toro handroll TIP: join the yelp waitlist 1 hour beforehand

We went to a similar place in Hawaii and really enjoyed it so we came here for dinner our first night in town. We got there a bit early for dinner on a week night and was given a choice of tables. There's plates on the revolving belt that you can get items from - they count the plates for the cost. You can also order rolls and other hot items off the iPad and it gets delivered to your table above the revolving belt. I felt the items on the revolving belt was a bit lacking and they look unappetizing. Some items toppled over. The items we ordered off the iPad was superior to the items off the belt. The rolls and chicken karaage were tastier and higher quality. Service was pretty good. For high end sushi or raw fish I wouldn't come here. Located in a large mall complex - a lot of parking.

Good fish sizes despite the rice to fish ratio being ok. They actually have pretty unique flavors for example for the Unagi it's a strawberry Unagi so a piece of a strawberry compote on top. The carpaccio plates are also pretty good flavorful. For the ginger slices on the side they're actually pretty big and not as minced. This conveyor belt, sushi place think of it almost like an elevated version of your typical sushi conveyor belt at Kura. It can get busy during dinner time on weekends but still a reasonable wait time as long as you check in first. You basically can get one of the plates along the sushi conveyor belt for $3.75 or order on the iPad at the table for even more expensive plates that range from around average $5 to $10

I usually love coming here because it's nearby, affordable, and good quality I came by here for dinner on a Tuesday. Did the online waitlist and was seating around 15/20 minutes. My usual go-tos are the yuzu tuna, truffle yellowtail, and seared salmon. I grabbed the tuna and yellowtail off the conveyor belt and first bite I had noticed the quality went down from my previous visits. I saw the seared salmon and it looked like it was out for a while so I decided to just order off the tablet. This fixed the issue for me. The fish was coming out fresh again do I just continued to do that. The rice potion did get significant larger than before.

Got here 4:30pm before the dinner crowd already 1/3 full. Service is fast. Seated me immediately Inside is clean modern and designed with efficiency Water brought to me. Soy sauce and wasabi already at table I couldn't figure out how to open the lids of the plates on conveyer belt. Ask waitress. U pull the plate horizontal out and triggers the lids to open. Don't push or open the lid open, doesn't work. The food was fresh. More options on table tablet. A small tray to shoot to you and ask u to push its button when u got your order. Will come again

Came here with coworkers during lunch for a quick, yet celebratory casual bite! Great spot for when you crave sushi and need a short sit-down, 30-45 min meal. Atmosphere is casual & modern, and restaurant is simple and clean. Layout always throws me off a bit when I walk in... you can practically see the top of everyone's heads all at once. There are walls but minimal separation, with openings and kind of short... sort of reminds me of an open office space concept haha The revolving sushi setup is fun. You can grab plates directly from the conveyor belt, and there's also a tablet to order things like carpaccios and hand rolls, which get delivered to your table on a little train. I appreciate how the sushi comes with juuuust a thin layer of rice to maintain the focus on the fish, while not making you too full on carbs. I also love their toro handroll & yuzu tuna! Service is pretty minimal here, no one really came by to introduce themselves or refill waters, so it felt more of a self-serve, grab-and-go experience. Overall... quick and fun sushi fix, quick return back to work!

Great selection of fish, fish was fresh! My favorites were the yellow tail, tuna, and yuzu tuna nigiri. The sushi rice was very good. We asked for low sodium soy sauce but the server said they unfortunately did not have that. I would've also loved if the a/c is a bit stronger bc it was a little warm inside.

    Nelson L.

Food was good and there was a decent selection. A little annoying about being limited time wise on ordering from the kitchen, which I get it, but still annoying. A lot of the nigiri came with truffle and it was a little overpowering after the first few dishes. Wish they had more nigiri options without it. Salmon and yellowtail were my favorite. Decent amount of seating but can get full quick. Plenty of parking. Great service.

Came on a Tuesday night so it wasn't too busy! Plenty of parking and service was okay. We had sushi delivered to our table a few times when we did not order it and had to send it back. Menu is small ie. they don't have items like tuna/salmon crispy rice. Restaurant is also small in size so expect to have long wait times during peak hours. Most of the nigiri was $3.75 which is standard for revolving sushi bar prices. Other items vary in price. We got: -- salmon nigiri (my fav by far, fresh and vibrant + delicious) -- truffle salmon nigiri (worth a try, ok) -- yuzu jalapeño tuna nigiri -- shrimp crunch roll (don't recommend, not that good) -- tuna carpaccio -- raw shrimp nigiri (not as good as the one at Eat's Sushi + only tasted the sriracha on top and not the shrimp at all) -- squid nigiri (don't recommend, the flavor of the squid does not come through) -- yellowtail nigiri (personally i liked it but my sister didn't like the aftertaste) -- toro nigiri (another fav! so fresh and yummy) -- tempura I don't think I would go back, but it was worth a try!

Was really excited to try this new sushi restaurant near our house. Now let's start with the good. The avocado, crunchy, and California roll were amazing because it was very flavorful and fast to get. When ordering from the menu, the service was a little bit slow. The tuna and salmon pieces from the revolving belt were extremely thin and I did not think it was worth the $3.75 price for each plate.

Good food, quality sushi, fast service, and affordable prices! Came in for dinner with a friend, and despite the Yelp Waitlist telling us we were 7th in line, there was actually no one there when we arrived so we were able to be seated right away! We ordered so much from the menu and also grabbed from the conveyor belt as well. Everything came out so quickly, was quality, delicious, and so affordable!! We stayed until we were some of the last people there (sorry! The food was just too good and we wanted to finish everything) but the staff was so nice about it and didn't rush us out. Can't wait to come back soon!

Yummy conveyer belt sushi! Decently priced with excellent fish quality. Love the truffle flavored sushi and the seaweed sushi! While everything else was great, those two stood out to us. The truffle flavor was perfect and not overwhelming while the seaweed texture is so unique. Would definitely return! Great service as well and a cool modern well lit vibe

This place is so good! All the fish was fresh and the rice ratio was perfect. My favorite for sure was the Salmon Kama and the Octopus Nigiri. Service was amazing and they also made sure I was well taken care of. I will definitely be back in the future!

When is it the least busy when it opens? 1 o'clock other options?

We don’t have a guaranteed “least busy” time since it really varies day‑to‑day, but weekends (especially evenings) are usually our busiest. If you’re planning a visit, you can always join our Yelp Waitlist on the day of your visit to help cut down…

Can you take walk ins for parties of 8?

    Yes we can!

What is the typical price point for a party of two?

Hi Craig It all depends how hungry you are :) For a party pf 2 I've paid around $70 and for a party of 3 around $120. Hope this helps :) and enjoy!

Does it have meat sushi version ? Like how in Kura has some

They have cooked meat like karaage (chicken nuggets) and shrimp tempura and cooked fish collar, but you need to order from the tablet at your individual table, it's not on the rotating conveyor. They cook to order and bring to your table direct

Kind of forgotten about it, on a whim we decided to check it out on a late weeknight and the restaurant was half empty. The restaurant was clean and modern. The staff quickly greeted us when we arrived and sat us at a booth. We ordered water and everything from the tablet at the table. I thought the prices were quite reasonable. For example, a salmon avo hand roll is only $3.99. Some of the other stuff were priced a bit higher but I think everything rounded out to be of good value. The sushi came via the converter but like a bullet grain. I would say it was pretty quick, especially considering it was near closing time so we were happy with how speedy everything came out. I thought the fish was pretty fresh, definitely a step up than your average sushi restaurant. We enjoyed our speedy and fresh meal!

Waiters pop by from time to time to check on you and clear plates, but they do little with your food. The best fish for me was the salmon (which is farm raised and the same as every other place, and the yellowtail. I thought the tuna was sub-par. Again, OK, but not great. There is enough here for me that I could come back, but little to actually draw me back. Dessert was good, but I don't go to a sushi place for the desserts.

We ordered the following: Agedashi Tofu: This was honestly the highlight of the meal. I have been craving this appetizer, but not many places around here actually offer it. The last place I tried this was at Haku, and I was not impressed by it. However, the tofu here was really good! It was hot, crispy, and the sauce was perfectly sweet and salty. It comes with 4 larger sized pieces of tofu, which I thought was great, but could have been more for the price. Stir Fry Udon: This dish was advertised outside on one of their stand up signs by the front door. This is part of what brought us in, but upon receiving it, I was not too impressed. The sauce was extremely dark and it already looked salty. When I actually tasted it, I was not surprised that it tasted exactly how it looked. It was way too salty and saucey to the point, we were eating one bite then drinking water right after. It was a pretty simple dish with what looked like frozen carrots and peas and some cut up chicken. Lunch Bento Box Option 2: We opted in for the teriyaki salmon, gyoza, and salmon roll. It came with a side of salad and miso soup. The salmon was cut very thin and it did not have enough teriyaki sauce on it. It was on the dry side. The gyoza was nothing too special. Just felt frozen then dried with gyoza sauce. Miso soup and salad were also just decent. The best part of this meal probably had to be the salmon roll. I liked the big portions of salmon and the little rice on the outside. This was the perfect balance instead of just getting a mouthful of rice each bit like most other sushi places do. I think this place was decent, overall. The prices were definitely on the higher side for what you get. Nothing too much to rave about other than the agedashi tofu, so I will be by for that again, but not sure if I would necessarily get anything else. Service was attentive and great. Just know, not all their offerings are actually listed on the menu, so we did not even know how much the stir fry udon was until we got charged for it.

It is also surprisingly affordable. Both Orange County locations I have been to (the one in South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa and the one in Jamboree Plaza in Irvine) are sadly in very busy areas. It can be annoying to find parking and/or wait in a long line just to sit down and eat. Thankfully, the food is so good that I will go out of my way to eat there, even if it means having a super early lunch to avoid the typical noon-to-1:00 p.m. lunch crowd. The main thing I love about Marugame is its surprisingly large amount of udon options. You can get the softer-tasting broth or the stronger-tasting broth called BK broth, which is generally my personal go-to because I think it has a more savory yet smooth flavor. There is also a surprising amount of customization, from basic choices like a regular or large size, extra noodles, and whether you want the typical Sanuki-style toppings of tempura flakes and green onions. There are also options like curry udon, beef udon, pork-broth tonkotsu udon, and, more recently, rice bowls. That said, one of my favorite things about Marugame is the number of tempura options. These do not come with the udon, so you generally have to pay roughly a dollar per piece, depending on the type of meat or vegetable you get. For example, the standard tempura choice, shrimp, costs around a dollar each. Thankfully, the shrimp are fairly long and thick, with great batter and flavor. There are also other meat options, such as squid, along with plenty of vegetable options like zucchini and onion. If you are someone who eats out often and likes rewards programs, Marugame has a mobile app where you can earn points toward things like a free Spicy Bomb, extra noodles, or extra tempura. I definitely take advantage of this. Just make sure to either order through the app or save your physical receipt so you can upload it to the app. Overall, when I want great, specialized udon and tempura, you cannot go wrong with Marugame Udon in Orange County, whether you choose the South Coast Plaza location or the Jamboree Plaza location.
