Great quality sushi! We arrived on a Sunday night around 5:30pm, no wait but one side of the revolving sushi bar wasn't in operation yet since it was during slower hours. We were fine with that and ordered off of the tablet menu. My favorite was the seared salmon and truffle yellowtail! Most standard plates are $3.75. Depending on the sushi, it varies in price!

I heard the wait time was long during peak hours so I joined the waitlist before I got there. Waited only 10 minutes because I went on a solo date to treat myself for a long week. ‍ I was greeted by staff with friendliness and was quickly seated. The area is furnished with wooden decor and lights create a very clean minimalist environment. I ordered some sushi through the iPad but most of what I want came from the conveyor belt. I paired my sushi with a Diet Coke because I was needing some bubbles. I found the rice to sushi ratio amazing with just a small pebble of rice . The rice was also so perfectly cooked and seasoned. I found that my favorite items all included salmon or scallops. Especially the seared nigiri. My only complaint was the mussels because they were the most expensive at $6 for four and they were very disappointing. Slightly fishy and chewy. I like baked mussels but I felt that the mussels were the only item that I felt disappointed I spent money on. I don't like mussels that are tough - baked mussels for me need to be melt in your mouth and slightly firm. These were slightly rubbery and not juicy enough. I would skip the mussels to min/max value. Definitely pricey if you come hungry. Almost everything felt worth every penny. I'm definitely coming back! Be careful though- I spent way more than I intended to because I found myself grabbing more from the conveyor belt. A method I think I'll do next time is just order everything I want on the iPad so at the end I can see the total and I can add or delete based on what I want to spend that evening. I can see everything on one page and deliberate on what items I want the most and delete the rest that don't make the cut. Overall, great experience. 9.2/10

4.5 stars. The bottom conveyor belt items are priced at $3.75 per plate, and there's a nice mix of items like nigiri, rolls, seaweed salad, and edamame. You can also place à la carte orders via the tablet. There's a maximum of 6 à la carte orders every 5 minutes...anytime when you place a tablet order (even if you just ordered one item), it will reset the clock that prevents you from placing anymore orders for 5 minutes so just be aware. Fried items like karaage chicken and ebi tempura are great with thin crust and delivered at the right temperature but they do take quite long to cook so maybe order those first when you sit down. I like this place a bit more than Waka Sakura by Irvine's Tokyo Central because there's actually food revolving around (Waka Sakura is not really Kaiten sushi because it's just a conveyor belt that delivers the ordered food to your table). However, Waka Sakura has more variety. Be careful when à la carte food items arrive at your table via top belt...we had the someone else's orders delivered to us twice during our lunch. Just press the button to send them back to the kitchen.

Soooo good!

We had a great experience at Sushi Rev! LaLa was great! She was so welcoming, sweet, personable, and helpful! The sushi was sooooooo good. The salmon with onion and avocado was just heaven. We really enjoyed all of the food we got! The restaurant was very clean, organized, and had a nice layout. There was a good amount of seating and we went for lunch at 12:30pm and there was no crowd. There's lots of parking and lots of shops and treats nearby. We'll definitely be back!

A decent place to get sushi and the revolving sushi bar experience. Food was much better that Kura Sushi, but not as good as a real sushi restaurant. Sushi selection is a little bit limited on the revolving bar, but there are extra stuff you can order such as salmon, cheek, hand, rolls, and other specialty rules. Prices were reasonable. My knock on the place is it gets pretty busy so the way can be long. They ran out of ice so we had room temp water and we had to use plastic ramekin for our soy sauce. Service was good.

This is hands down my favorite sushi restaurant ever! It's a rotating sushi restaurant, but everything is so fresh! I always get the salmon sashimi with truffle and the the Salmon carpaccio. All the rolls are also amazing!

Good restaurants evolve to fit the tastes and desires of its customers. Sushi Rev is adding new items. They now have a chicken Yakitori which is very good. They are adding new hand rolls and other hot items. Great service, great food, and a very clean environment. Two pieces of the most delicious toro Tuna is only $5.75. Anywhere else, you will be paying twice as much.

Tried this place for the first time, and I have to say...it was just okay. I personally don't think it lived up to all the hype I've seen on social media. The food was good overall, but I was a little disappointed with the sushi selection. There weren't as many options going around as I expected, and honestly, I felt like the options on the iPad menu looked better. The chicken karaage was pretty bland, and unfortunately the edamame was too. Both definitely needed a little more seasoning and flavor. Service, though, was great! We didn't have to wait long to be seated, and our server was really nice and friendly. One thing that surprised me was how small the restaurant actually is! Social media definitely made it look way bigger . It seems better suited for smaller groups because most of the tables looked like they could comfortably seat around 4 people. So if you're coming with a big group, just keep that in mind! All in all, it wasn't bad, but it also wasn't somewhere that completely wowed me. I'd probably come back eventually, just not anytime soon. Glad I finally got to try it though! Thanks for the meal!

MY FAVORITE REVOLVING SUSHI IN OC!! Definitely a step up from kura revolving sushi! They're smaller than I thought so makes sense why the wait is long. Super fresh fish, affordable prices, and quality reminds me of x-fish! They have plenty more dishes you can order on the ipad, including appetizers, sashimi, sushi rolls, and izakaya. Those items are either sent straight to you via the conveyor belt or robot delivery. Favorites: garlic salmon, truffle salmon, butter shrimp, toro handroll TIP: join the yelp waitlist 1 hour beforehand

I love the concept of revolving sushi so decide to check out sushi rev. Its a good slightly elevated revolving sushi restaurant. Majority of the order comes from the ipad on the table. My favorite part were their scallops, they had a good soft bite. I stuck with their basic nigiris as I didn't taste a difference between premium options with truffle oil etc. Had a minimalist/ modern ambiance and vibes which was nice.

I really like conveyor belt sushi! Don't come extra hungry because you would want to grab everything from the belt! All the plates on the conveyor belt is $3.75 a plate. There's also a tablet where you can order and it will come straight from the kitchen! We went around 4:30pm and were able to beat the dinner rush and did not have to wait for a table! I definitely prefer this place over kura!

We went to a similar place in Hawaii and really enjoyed it so we came here for dinner our first night in town. We got there a bit early for dinner on a week night and was given a choice of tables. There's plates on the revolving belt that you can get items from - they count the plates for the cost. You can also order rolls and other hot items off the iPad and it gets delivered to your table above the revolving belt. I felt the items on the revolving belt was a bit lacking and they look unappetizing. Some items toppled over. The items we ordered off the iPad was superior to the items off the belt. The rolls and chicken karaage were tastier and higher quality. Service was pretty good. For high end sushi or raw fish I wouldn't come here. Located in a large mall complex - a lot of parking.

Empty revolving sushi at dinner time.
Shawn G.

We tried this place based on the reviews, but the food was just OK. The biggest letdown was the wait. The conveyor belts were empty most of the time, so we sat around waiting for food. The truffle-topped salmon and tuna looked unappetizing and went around untouched. Options on the belt were limited, and you have to order from the iPad to get anything decent. If I have to order on an iPad anyway, what's the point of going to a revolving sushi place? The appeal is grabbing good items quickly and skipping the wait. For this price and area, there are better options.

When is it the least busy when it opens? 1 o'clock other options?

We don’t have a guaranteed “least busy” time since it really varies day‑to‑day, but weekends (especially evenings) are usually our busiest. If you’re planning a visit, you can always join our Yelp Waitlist on the day of your visit to help cut down…

Can you take walk ins for parties of 8?

Yes we can!

What is the typical price point for a party of two?

Hi Craig It all depends how hungry you are :) For a party pf 2 I've paid around $70 and for a party of 3 around $120. Hope this helps :) and enjoy!

Does it have meat sushi version ? Like how in Kura has some

They have cooked meat like karaage (chicken nuggets) and shrimp tempura and cooked fish collar, but you need to order from the tablet at your individual table, it's not on the rotating conveyor. They cook to order and bring to your table direct

To be honest, up until the exact moment we sat down, we actually had no idea that Waka Sakura was a…read moreconveyor belt sushi spot. For us, just how bright and modern it looks was enough to pique our curiosity, so, it was definitely unexpected to almost immediately see a "train" shoot right past us. Not that we minded, as conveyor belt sushi spots are a bit of a guilty pleasure, but it also didn't hurt that the food we saw go by us from the kitchen looked great! While conveyor belt sushi spots (somewhat deservedly) aren't known for having high quality sushi, Waka Sakura isn't like most of the ones I've been to. For one, it looks a whole lot nicer, but also, they don't have a loop that circles their sushi around endlessly. Instead, you order through your table's tablet and it gets delivered via "trains" on said belt, so it's more made-to-order. What's more, both the quality of their sushi and their menu are pretty impressive, as they have a wide variety of sashimi, nigiri, rolls, cooked items, sides, and salads to choose from. Plus, it goes beyond just the basics, too, with offerings like wagyu nigiri, clam miso soup, and mehikari karaage. -- CHAWANMUSHI Not quite as loaded as I would've liked, but still better than others I've had. While it may have been a little light on seafood, the custard was silky smooth. -- SPICY GARLIC EDAMAME So much better than regular edamame! I loved the spicy garlic on this and how well the edamame was cooked (still had just a slight bite). -- SALMON SKIN HAND ROLL This was pretty straightforward, but no less impressive! The hand roll was fairly packed and the salmon skin itself was equally crispy and oh so tasty. -- SPICY TUNA HAND ROLL I'm not big on spicy tuna, but this wasn't too shabby. The tuna wasn't overly mashed up and you could actually taste it, instead of just getting a mouthful of spice. -- TAKOYAKI Pretty standard, but not necessarily in a bad way. Although the pieces of octopus weren't very big, they weren't tiny either and I liked how the dough was crispy on the outside yet not too wet/soggy on the inside. -- FRIED SALMON BELLY I was worried when I saw "fried", but this was delicious! Each piece of salmon was meaty, moist, and just slightly fatty. Plus, it wasn't at all greasy. So good! -- SEARED SCALLOP NIGIRI WITH TERIYAKI Of all of the nigiri we had, my gf enjoyed this one the most. The teriyaki sauce added a nice sweetness that contrasted nicely against the slight char on the scallop. -- WAGYU BEEF TRIO - Teriyaki, Onion Mayo, Salt Sauce I don't often get wagyu sushi, but this was terrific! All three types were juicy and flavorful, but I liked the Onion Mayo the best with the Salt Sauce a close second. -- SALMON PARTY COMBO - Fresh Salmon, With Salmon Roe, Onion Mayo, Seared, Teriyaki, Spicy Mayo My favorite of all of the nigiri combos we had. Across every type (half were raw, half were seared), the cuts were all thick and flavorful, but I especially liked the Seared, Onion Mayo, and the one with Roe. -- SCALLOP LOVERS COMBO - Fresh Scallop, Seared, Teriyaki, Spicy Mayo I love scallops, so all of these were great, but I actually thought the plain one was the best followed by the seared one. Regardless, each of the cuts were fresh, sweet, and decently meaty. -- TUNA (BLUEFIN) LOVERS COMBO - Medium Fatty, Fresh Tuna, Seared Tuna, Tuna Tataki This may have been a last second add, but it was no less delicious! All four pieces were awesome, but I loved the Chutoro (medium fatty) and the tataki the most. In addition to how much we enjoyed everything we had, the thing that surprised us most was how reasonable Waka Sakura's prices felt for what you get. While the quality you'd get at a legit sushi restaurant is still likely to be better, what you get here is nothing to scoff at, as it's better than your average, generic neighborhood spot, let alone lesser conveyor belt joints, like Kura Revolving Sushi. Plus, their sushi rice is so good! Flavorful and cooked really well. Although conveyor belt sushi joints are undoubtedly just as much of a novelty as they are sushi restaurants, it's awesome how you can get the best of both worlds at Waka Sakura. On top of all of that, the line for a table here isn't nearly as long as at the likes of Kura. I just hope the masses don't find out, though some would be okay just to make sure this place sticks around!

I believe they recently opened in Irvine and there was virtually no wait when we dropped by for dinner on a Friday night. The staff was friendly, the interior was modern and clean, and the fish was so yummy and fresh! The dining experience is pretty customizable and self-paced. This Kura has been around and popular for a long time now. Over the years, I've gone to this Kura and the old Laguna Hills Mall Kura occasionally, but hadn't been back in years. A few months ago, we brought the kids here for lunch and have been back 5 times already because they loved it and often ask to come back. The food itself is fine, but the variety is nice. Our GO TO items are: - Sweet shrimp nigiri: Has a nice snap texture. I've never gotten one that had any "fishy" taste. - Seared items: We've had various seared eel, salmon, scallops, and beef. Most of them have been very good and none were bad. - Dessert: The butter cake is actually quite good. The NY cheese cake is not bad either. We've tried a few of the rolls, but so far none of them have stood out for us. Worth it to continue trying new ones just to see though. The kids sometimes get the beef udon, which has a simple sweet/savory flavor. We now also order a bowl of just sushi rice so that our kids don't keep taking all our nigiri rice, which has been great. Even though conveyer belt sushi is more self service than your typical sit down restaurant, the staff here has always been very nice and accommodating. They use server robots (named Kur-A and Kur-B I believe from what my son tells me), which my kids are obsessed about, and there have been some times where the staff noticed and talked to them about the robots or let them activate them. Enni has helped us on multiple visits and is so perceptive and amazing with kids. She even helped calm down our younger guy when he was having a meltdown. The reservation system through the Kura app has always worked well for me. I don't think we never waited more than 10 minutes for a table even though we've only gone on weekends. I'm glad we rediscovered Kura and there are sure to be many additional visits in our future.
