Love Sushi REV! I've been here three times already. I'm super happy that they have a yelp waitlist now because the wait can get pretty long. It's good to know how long the wait is. The tables are small and I think it fits 4 people comfortably. I wouldn't recommend big parties coming here unless you're okay with sitting at separate tables. They have a limited menu but I think their fish quality is great. My favorite item here is their truffle salmon! It's so good. It would be nice to see if they bring more hot dishes to their menu or more fish. But so far I enjoy this restaurant. read more

Finally got to try Sushi REV after hearing so many good things about it and it did not disappoint! Probably one of the best sushi spots i had in OC so far. You can put yourself on the waitlist as long as you're within 4 miles of the restaurant. The wait was around 20 minutes. The ambience is super clean with booths surrounding the revolving sushi bar. There's so many sushi options but my favorite has to be the truffle seared scallop. The strawberry unagi was very unique too. Highly recommend coming here! read more

**I'd give this spot a 3.5 stars. For a rainy Saturday late morning, it was still a decent amount of people. Wait wasn't too bad, but I could see that it was getting busier while I was eating. The place is a lot smaller than I expected, but it was nice and minimalistic inside. Felt very much like Waka Sakura interior but with a Kura Revolving Sushi conveyor belt setup. Service was nice and did come by every so often to clear tables and check on you. Their sushi selection is definitely more limited than Kura, but their selection is also much more experimental. Good things about the food: decently good fish quality, nice fish-to-rice ratio, and priced fairly on par with competitors. Bad things: rice too mushy and somewhat falls apart and somewhat experimental yet limited menu. I did like most of the ones I had, and my friends and I's favorites were the seared fish nigiris! Wish I got some pictures of those, they were so good! So, if your preference is more basic sushi, it may not be a frequent spot for you. I think that it's worth a try though if you were thinking about it, based on my experience. Can't say if it's the first spot I'll think to go to or if I'd recommend it wholeheartedly, but it's a decent spot. Their speciality of truffle on majority of the sushi is what gives them a unique edge from a typical sushi place. I think overall the food was not bad but what was a little frustrating to me was the lack of sushi that went through the conveyor belt. Came here a few weeks after they opened. The first time I tried coming for dinner on a Friday around 4:45 PM, there was already a two-hour wait! So we decided to give it another try on a Saturday and arrived at 10:45 AM -- we were third in line when they opened at 11. If you're planning to visit, I'd definitely recommend coming early! Sushi Rev is honestly the best revolving sushi restaurant I have been to in SoCal. Quality wise, the fish was excellent! And for the value, you cannot go wrong. Where else can you find two pieces of toro for under $6?! I found the prices here to be cheaper than other revolving sushi places, and the quality is just so much better too. It's a no brainer to come here to dine. To be fair, my partner and I are mainly nigiri people, so I cannot speak for any of the other sushi dishes apart from the nigiri. I came here a total of 4 visits now. 3 of the 4 visits had long waiting times. For my first visit, I waited up to 90 minutes. Fortunately, it's in a plaza where Target, two boba shops, and Starbucks are so you can grab a drink and do some shopping while you wait to be seated. I've been to quite a few revolving sushi bars and this one definitely compares to some of the ones I had in Japan. The restaurant allows you to join the waitlist if you are within a 4 mile radius, so we went on a hike nearby and joined while we were still on the hike, and it was about a 30 minute wait total. The interior was very modern and looked very clean and well kept which I feel like is such a plus because a lot of revolving sushi bars tend to get nastay sometimes. Our server was so sweet and constantly checking in on us and asking us if we liked our food. She also cleared and counted our plates quickly while we were eating and it was very efficient. Aside from the revolving sushi, we could also manually order any pieces and appetizers on an iPad at our table. Food wise, everything from the conveyer belt and from what we ordered off the tablet was fresh and delicious! My personal favorites were the different truffle nigiris and the toro. The seaweed they used here was different and reminded me of pork floss. It was probably so that they wouldn't get soggy on the conveyer belt which I appreciated! One of the newest additions to the Marketplace located near Panda Express and Class 302 on the Irvine side. Let's talk about waitlist first since the line for Sushi Rev has been pretty intense since it opened. I recommend joining the waitlist early at the restaurant instead of on Yelp. The waitlist is based on the system used at the restaurant and the Yelp list may or may not be as reliable, especially during this busy time. We placed our name down on a weekend around 5 p.m. and the wait was about 60-90 minutes. The interior is clean, modern, and a bit on the smaller side, which may explain the long wait when you're on the waitlist. Once seated, you have the option of ordering from the iPad and grabbing already made sushi from the conveyor belt. We were excited to try this place, so we ordered almost everything on the menu, for a party of five. The standouts were the seared salmon and the salmon collar. If there's anything to avoid, it will probably be the chicken karaage, which is somewhat standard, not bad but tough to chew. We also had to wait over 30 minutes for it (and I don't blame the staff since everyone was busy). The quality of the food is definitely top tier and may rival Waka Sakura. So happy that we got to check out Sushi Rev! I've been seeing it circulate around Instagram and I can't believe it's still in its soft opening. We were able to visit on a Friday evening. We had heard that it was very busy so came at 5:30 PM, thinking that this was early. We were sorely wrong! There were so many people ahead of us and it took us about 2 hours to get in, whew. Thank goodness there are a lot of things to do in the area and easy to walk around. Be warned, it is such an awesome place and everyone is trying to go! They do close the waitlist once it gets closer to closing so I recommend going earlier than later. Other than the wait, we really enjoyed our experience! The restaurant was pretty spacious. There was a conveyor belt with rotating dishes, along with a belt that sent your orders down to you. Our server was Anna and she was so wondering. Not worth your time or visit is the most succinct way I could muster describing Sushi REV. Wait time is extremely long and the wait is NOT WORTH IT. You can put your name on the waitlist and be proper gasping. 26 tables ahead!! And then the stupid waitlist system went down briefly and the manager went ahead and seated everyone who was inside the store to waitlist themselves sit down and eat. I was just dumbfounded watching that as it happened when I had been patiently waiting outside for some time. Fast forward a bit and I finally got to sit down but my table had a caveat of having no sushi on the conveyor belt / revolving bar. I didn't think that would have been such a big deal since I can just order my items from the tablet instead of having to pluck out plates from the conveyor belt. WRONG. So this place only allows you to order maximum of 6 plates every 5 minutes. No more no less. I actually didn't realize this at first so went ahead and placed an order containing only one item. I thought I can just place the order soon after for few more plates of nigiris. WRONG WRONG WRONG. This whole 6 plates every 5 minutes thing is fine and all if you are at the revolving bar table so you are only ordering from the tablet to supplement what you don't see going around. Nope. Not cool at all if you are basically at a regular table eating with more than one person. Are you kidding me? Why not adjust the setting so those who sit at seats without the conveyor gets to order more without the 6 plates max every 5 minutes throttling? The POS/ ordering system was also glitchy in such a way that the server brought us the check after just receiving our first round of order. And then she proceeded to never come back-- not to take away plates, refill water, or bring us the check when we were done. And what made things extra frustrating with the long wait and ordering system was the superfluously disappointing quality of sushi itself. The soy sauce they use is some sort of bitter tasting salty Kikkoman from a commercial jug. And the fish is pre-seasoned in such a way it's extremely salty even without the soy sauce. That's really wrong in so many levels. Like what are you trying to hide? The rot? Did you do that to preserve what should have been tossed out raw fish? It made things just not taste right including the chutoro that should've not had "truffle sauce" drizzled over that masked the taste and texture. In fact, what didn't really have this "truffle sauce" type thing pre drizzled on it? It tasted like everything was presalted or preseasoned in some way or another. Also, what's with the use of sweet strawberry jam over unagi and tamago? It made both items taste horrible. Definitely not authentic Japanese sushi by no man's means. To top it off, it took them well over 20 minutes to bring us the check despite multiple requests were made from the tablet. Every servers ignored the table until I finally yelled out at one of them who was walking around like a sleepwalker. Lastly , the loud atmosphere at the restaurant is horrible. You can't hear anything. I would rather eat at Kura or something instead. Really, anywhere but here. Hell I wouldn't mind just picking up a pack from Whole Foods. The food was definitely not $80 in quality or service. As another reviewer mentioned, I really should have just gone to Panda Express next door. With little expectation and expecting the average quality of other revolving sushi places, I was blown away. After putting our group of 4 on the Yelp waitlist at 6:30PM, we waited around 2 hours to get seated on a Sunday evening. The restaurant is not very big, so it makes sense for the long wait. But our spot on the waitlist went from #21 to #3 within 30 min, so the queue does move quickly. The food was chef's kiss! Each variation of yellowtail, salmon, tuna, and scallops nigiri were all 10/10 and SO fresh. We were impressed that it was such high quality fish at a reasonable price. Most plates (2 pieces) were around $3.75, which included my favorites with truffle. I liked how the flavor wasn't overpowering and complemented the fish nicely. While some dishes costed up to $5.75, like the toro that just melted in your mouth. The only dishes that I wasn't a fan of were the spicy tuna roll and the spicy salmon/tuna crispy rice. But my sister said the crispy rice was better last time she visited, so it may not be consistent. Also, I wish that the plates replenished quicker. There was a point that I missed the tuna nigiri on the belt and kept waiting for it to come back around. But it never did. The plates were empty for the majority of the time we were sitting there, so I had to resort to using the iPad to order. Another thing I noticed was that the service was very attentive. Overall, I think this place was definitely overhyped and I wouldn't wait in line for it, but it offers decent quality sushi and a unique dining experience. We tried a variety of dishes, with the seared salmon nigiri being my favorite. It had a nice smokey flavor that complimented the fattiness of the salmon. The truffle yellowtail and sweet shrimp were also good, and I would skip the garlic mackerel. I was also interested in trying the truffle seaweed salmon, since it uses a unique type of seaweed. I don't think I would try it again, since the seaweed has an off putting texture and almost reminded me of hair. Besides the long wait for food, sushi rev is pretty good quality fish especially if compared to kura revolving sushi. The fish slice proportions are also pretty decent for the price (3.75 a plate). It' also sometimes hit or miss with the part of the fish you get. We ordered the toro twice and the first time was a nice fatty/buttery piece and the second time was more lean. We got seated on the side where the conveyer belt was not working and they were very accommodating for us moving to a seat where the belt was working. The bathroom is very clean, which for me is very important. I don't trust cleanness of a restaurant if their bathroom is not clean. Came in on a Thursday night a little after 7pm and there was a whopping 18 parties ahead of us (nearly an hour wait). The good thing is that it's situated in a nice plaza to walk around and explore other shops, maybe even grab a snack to hold you over while you wait. After we were seated, we had the option to order from the tablet screen or grab from the revolving belt. Unfortunately, they were out of the toro when we came in, but had several unique options, such as truffle salmon which is not a common combination elsewhere. I was pleasantly surprised by the truffle which seemed to complement the fish well. Though after taking more bites, I started to crave a nice and simple taste of salmon on its own. Their truffle salmon with seaweed was a bit difficult to eat without making a small mess, tasted similar to the nigiri item but unsure if the seaweed added much flavor. Another item they had was strawberry jam(?) on top of their unagi and tamago. This, I did not end up trying. I wished I could have enjoyed these without the topping, but there was no such item. There are still some kinks to work out, as we had ordered the truffle salmon seaweed and it never came out. We notified the staff and was told the system was not properly delivering the order to be printed. Additionally, when items do come out to be served, you need to pay close attention to which side the little placard is facing - it could be for the table next to you instead. This part was not explained to us, but we noticed the placard, yet still had 1 awkward encounter with our neighboring table when they almost grabbed our plate. At this restaurant, it does matter that you take the correct plate because you do not submit your own plates like other places (ie. Kura). The staff here will scan the revolving plates and add this to the total amount ordered from the tablet. Best conveyor belt sushi I've been to. The highest quality fish you could ask for at a conveyor belt spot. Came for Monday lunch, had 6 parties in front of us and got seated within 30min. Interesting though that it's max party of 4 - no tables can accommodate 5+, so expect to sign in separately or go somewhere else if you have a bigger party. Scallops were the main highlight - super plump & juicy. Yuzu Scallop with the roe on top was the best, but truffle and seared were really good too. Spicy salmon over crispy rice & spicy tuna over crispy rice didn't disappointment either. My least favorite was the truffle salmon & truffle tuna. Unfortunately the seaweed texture was not for me. The proteins were really good and truffle flavor was strong, but the seaweed tasted & felt like hair which ruined it for me. Was $145 for 4 people. Overall, I wouldn't wait 2+ hrs for conveyor belt sushi and this is no exception that, but I still think this is a solid spot! read more

Went back for lunch and was so happy that their was no wait. Think the wait finally slowed down. Their menu has a bit more new items on them now but still some were sold out. Maybe because some items were going to be available for dinner read more

As soon as I saw there was a new revolving sushi spot, I wanted to try it out! I came on a Monday evening hoping the wait wouldn't be too bad. However when we came during dinner time (630pm), it was still a 45 minute to an hour wait. Immediately after we put our names down, they told us we could sit at a table without the conveyer belts for no wait - since we were hungry, we decided to do that and order from the tablet (they just serve you your food). If you choose this option, be aware that you can only select 6 items per table every 5 minutes. This was fine for us since it was just two of us and the food actually came out pretty fast; but if there is 4 in your party, you may not want to do this if you're hungry. The service was great, they were extremely attentive always checking in on us and seeing how we were doing. The overall food hit my sushi craving although the sushi itself was a bit above average in terms of quality and taste (I'd say a 3.5/5). Fish was good but not the most fresh sushi I've had. There's also no dessert options like at Kura. Overall I'm glad I tried this place but wouldn't come here again just because there's so many other amazing sushi spots in OC! read more

My new favorite revolving sushi place! Prices are more than reasonable with unique standouts like truffle salmon wrapped with special nori paper. Don't expect traditional sushi though. They have a fusion take on sushi with toppings such as onions, etc. They have basic sushi like salmon, yellowtail, tuna - so if you're looking for something more, look elsewhere.
