    Shrimp with lobster sauce
    Francine H.

Took mom here for lunch and we both enjoyed it. I had hot and sour soup, and it had the perfect amount of heat. My mom loved her egg drop soup. The lunch special also comes with egg roll, fried rice and entree. The egg roll was crispy and tasty and we both loved our shrimp dishes. The service was friendly and excellent, the place is clean, and has lots of comfortable seating. We will be back!

If you're looking for authentic Chinese food and you're in Anaheim/Tustin area, this is the place to be. Service was excellent- they delivered the food fast. We loved what we ordered - sweet and sour pork and salt and pepper pork. We ordered their Lobster set meal - it came with the delicious hot and sour soup, cream cheese wontons, and egg rolls. The place is clean and large enough for big parties. Will definitely go back again!

Lunch special kung pao chicken comes with soup and eggroll

Came in around lunch time on a Friday. I was seated and served promptly. I went with the kung pao lunch special, which came with a soup, eggroll, and entree. I started with the hot and sour soup, which was a bit lighter than I was accustomed to; regardless the soup had a nice flavor and thick-ish consistency that i was hoping for. The kung pao were both piping hot and was exactly what I had expected(slight spice, umami brown sauce, crisp carrots and zuchinni, and tender chicken). Where I think Royal Wok excels is the value, normally lunch specials come with reduced portions, but I was amazed at how large the portion was, given the price. Overall food, price, and service was all great, id definitely come again

A solid 4-star star effort delivering delicious classic Cantonese cuisine including our chicken egg foo young and pork chop suey, served very hot and in large portions (each was plenty large to feed two people) and reasonably priced. Very casual sports bar atmosphere (maybe a bit too casual) with friendly, quick service and a clean men's room.

First time at this restaurant, and it definitely won't be our last! The ambiance is welcoming and the service was pretty good, considering that it appeared as if there were only two people running front of house. But the food was delicious!! It started with a basket of crispy wonton chips served with what I believe was a homemade apple-plum dipping sauce. (To those who may know, it reminded me very much of the Magic Wok in Brea, which had been my favorite Chinese restaurant for years before it closed!!) The cream cheese wontons had a very tasty center, and the egg rolls were light and flakey. The main entrees (Kung Pao chicken and Mongolian Beef) were packed full of flavors!! This May have been the first time that I did not add soy sauce to a dish!! You could tell that this was cooked up fresh and not sitting under heat lamps for hours The meal was well worth the price, and we will be back!!

Came on a Tuesday and we were the only people at the restaurants. We had a group of 8 and was seated quickly. First off, the prices on the dishes were quite reasonable TBH. Before ordering they came with 2 plates of fried wonton skins with sweet and sour sauce. (These were tasty). We placed our orders and totally overordered but here are my thoughts. Hot & Sour Soup - It's okay. It lacked being hot or sour. Its mid. (3/5) Egg Flower Soup - It's better than the hot and sour. Not bad overall good. (4/5) Orange Chicken - I really enjoyed this one. Chicken was big chunks and it tasted very fresh. (4.5/5) Shrimp w/ Lobster Sauce - A pretty decent dish especially when eaten with white rice. I enjoyed it overall. (4/5) Peking Duck - This wasn't on the menu but it was advertised on the board at front. Price isn't labeled but it's $55.95 for the dish. It was actually delicious though and if you feel like spending this dish is worth it. We paid $7 for 6 extra steam buns. (5/5) Broccoli Beef - Simple dish, and it's how you'd expect. It's good. (4/5) Basil Chicken - Not on the menu but it was advertised at front board. It's good, nothing spectacular and its pretty basic. (4/5) Sautéed Spicy String Beans - I've had better string beans at other places but these aren't too bad. Simple (3.5/5) Szechuan Eggplant - It's not bad either but I've also had better. Wok didn't seem super hot like other places. (4/5) Honey Walnut Shrimp - Loved this and it was delicious. Walnuts had a lot of flavors and the shrimp was cooked well. (5/5) Overall I enjoyed this spot and the food was pretty good. Some dishes were top tier while others were average. It's a good spot to go with a large party because portions are suitable for family style. Service was good and food came out relatively fast. Would recommend if you're in the area.

Prices are reasonable, portions are good, and the flavors feel authentically Cantonese. Would come back.

An authentic Chinese restaurant tucked away in a humble strip plaza in Tustin. The food is delicious, the space is large and clean. Surprisingly, they even have a liquor license! It's clearly a local favorite. There are many takeout orders during my lunch time.

This is perfect for a lot of people because it fits those checkboxes and the environment is very comfortable. So I came for lunch on a Saturday with my mom and just ordered from the A La Carte menu - fish fillet with black bean sauce, honey walnut shrimp and one other dish. The fish fillet with black bean sauce came out surprisingly fast. The fish was a little mushy and the dish had good flavor but not the best - 3 out of 5. The honey walnut shrimp was also just okay. I do like when the shrimp is freshly cooked so crispy and then covered with the mayonaissey sauce so you have a nice crunch to the shrimp and then the sweetness from the sauce. But this was not like that, just mayonaissy and no crunch. I also like when the walnuts are sweet and have some crispness to them as well but they weren't like that either. So it's okay, pretty similar to most normal places. 3/5 as well. I can't remember the third dish anymore but it also didn't stand out. Overall - come here when you come with people that are used to the more American style Chinese restaurants and you don't want to scare them with a loud restaurant, servers that don't speak good english, or dirty interiors. This place is very clean, has a very nice interior and is quiet and well maintained and the food is decent. I'll probably be coming back for the lunch specials that I see on the menu during the weekday. The prices seem right and the food is decent.

I ordered the black pepper beef ($14.95), which also came with fried rice, hot and sour soup, a vegetable egg roll, and a chicken wonton. The beef slices were tender and thin with juices remaining in the meat. However, the dish overall seemed a little too oily for my palate. The fried rice was good and didn't have an overpowering flavor. The side dishes accompanying the weekend special were adequate. However, the vegetable egg roll was oily, and I had to wipe my fingers each time I picked it up. The little chicken wonton was wrapped in a greasy aluminum foil that wasn't very pleasant to open. I found the hot and sour soup adequate, but I've eaten better elsewhere. Despite some minor disfavors with the food, the weekend special is still cost effective, allowing you to get a big lunch for under $15. There wasn't a wait, and we got immediately seated. We got our food relatively quickly, and our server came back to ask if I needed more water. The ambience is relaxed and quiet with peaceful piano music in the background. There were only 3 main options: 1) lamb shank, 2) lamb ribs, and 3) lamb skewers. All halal and made with New Zealand lamb which was awesome! We tried all 3: one plate of the shank/ribs combination (which came with a bed of rice, pickled veggies, and a bowl of soup) and also one order of the lamb skewers which came with 3 skewers. Everything was excellent but the lamb shank was truly amazing and my favorite item - the meat was outrageously tender and just fell off the bone as I tried to take a piece - we had the shank just basic with no rub. The short ribs were a close second (we had these with the bbq rub and it was tremendous if you wanted more flavor). The skewers were decent - we had them plain because I didn't want anything too spicy but I would def recommend getting the rub for these if I were to get them again. The pickled veggies balanced the heavy meat and rice items perfectly to round out the meal. We also tried the jasmine yuzu tea drink and the homemade yoghurt which ended the meal nicely. I'm not a fan of lamb in general and generally avoid it at most restaurants, but I was loving every bite. Would highly recommend to try this place if you're looking for a quick lunch or dinner.

I usually come in before 5pm to beat the dinner rush and it has not failed me yet. We ordered the watermelon juice, beef rolls, golden prime beef noodle soup, and the seven grams XLB, and everything hit. The watermelon juice is so good and refreshing. They use real watermelons so it's fresh and naturally sweet. It's the kind of drink you start sipping slowly and then somehow it's suddenly gone. The beef rolls was on point. The thin wheat flour wrap had that light crispiness, and the balance inside was perfect. Tender beef shank, cucumbers, scallions, cilantro, and hoisin all put together. The golden prime beef noodle soup was so comforting. The noodles tasted fresh, the broth was rich and flavorful, and the beef was super tender. Just a heads up, the fresh red chilies is packed with heat. It's the kind of spice that sneaks up on you and has you coughing between bites, but it's good. Seven Grams XLB was served piping hot and full of flavor. Each dumpling was juicy and had a good amount of pork inside. Also, huge shout out to our server Tim! He was amazing. He was attentive, efficient, and just genuinely kind. The end result? Reasonable prices, warm service, and very tasty food. Like so many Chinese restaurants, the name and theme is inherently confusing. Up until last year, the place was Harbor Garden and it's rebranded to Noodle Star ever since. The Chinese name ("川粵" aka "Chuan Yue") would imply there is a Sichuan + Cantonese component to the offerings, despite the words "teppanyaki" and handmade noodles (手工麵) noted on the exterior as well as on signs on the interior. Typically any restaurant that dabbles in multiple regional Chinese variations (Sichuan, Cantonese, Shanghainese, Lanzhou, etc.) is a huge flight risk. Surprisingly, it all worked out. All of my orders were from different regions of the country, starting with a Cantonese beef chow fun (乾炒牛河) that was delightfully smokey from the wok hei (#1) and the noodles and beef were silky and smooth. While the noodles aren't as wide as I would have liked, they were still 100% workable in the dish. The Taiwanese style popcorn chicken (鹽酥雞) was wonderfully fried and the chicken was still juicy on the inside. Their napa cabbage + shrimp + pork steamed dumplings (白菜豬肉蝦水餃) were pillowy soft and steamed perfectly. They were plump and not too doughy; which is very appropo for a northern Chinese dish. The biggest surprise may have come from the soup dumplings (小籠包), which had just the right amount of soup and a very delicate dumpling skin that was downright excellent. The service was kind, attentive, and very bilingual with Mandarin and English. Prices might feel high to non-Cali folks, but the spectrum is very much on the Socal average. (#2).
