It's been a while since my last review, but I'm back and here to backlog some of my eating adventures! Nava is conveniently close to me and they have a lunch special. So of course, I gave it a try since I love a good deal and I love Thai food. I got the pad see ew with chicken and yellow curry with chicken. Both lunch specials. I did take out so I can't really speak to the ambiance. However, the restaurant isn't too big and it's nothing noteworthy. When placing the online order, they take your payment online so all I had to do was walk in and pick up at the cashier area. When I brought it home, I dug into the food. At first, it didn't look like there was a lot of food, but once I started eating, I noticed that it was actually a fair portion for the pad see ew. The yellow curry was also nice because you were able to select the level of spice. I selected medium and it had a nice heat to it all in all. It was really good. I appreciate that the food wasn't overly salty but had good flavors. The lunch specials also came with some fried wonton looking items which was really tasty as well. I would definitely check it out if you're in the area, even though the appearance on the outside, doesn't look anything special and the location is somewhat questionable. More like 3.5 stars.. Ordered takeout; here's what we got: Chicken pad Thai 3/5: good flavor, but could use a bit more protein. Pork spicy basil 2/5: this had a shockingly, tiny portion of protein and was 3/4 veggies, of which some were big slices of onion. Flavor was just OK, spice level was good. For $15 this was a definite letdown. Chicken panang 4/5: this one is solid. Flavor and spice are good, not a generous amount of protein, but was as expected for the price of the dish. Bbq ribs 3/5: very tender, tastes more like American bbq. Again a bit stingy on the protein with just 4 medium sized ribs and a tiny pinky sized rib (so I guess 1/4 rib?) for $18. Free cream cheese wontons with $50+ order 5/5: Nothing special, just cream cheese, but I always appreciate when a business gives perks like this. read more

Came in on a rainy Monday evening and it was not busy. The waitress came out fast to take our order and was very friendly. The food came out at a nice rate where we could enjoy ourselves before eating. The food was delicious! The yellow curry was perfectly spicy for me and my partner to both enjoy. Enough of a kick for me and not too spicy for him. We shared everything but he enjoyed the pad Thai more while I enjoyed the pad see ew more. But we both enjoyed everything! It is very casual and a good size. They have large booths that could fit up to 3 people on each side. By the time we left the place was a lot busier. It was nice to see a good quality establishment getting business on a chilly, rainy night! read more

This is definitely a hidden gem! It's tucked away in an unassuming plaza and there was no one else in the restaurant when we arrived around 12:45 pm. The restaurant is really clean and the waitress was super nice and attentive. We got our food pretty quickly (within 10 minutes of ordering) and it was absolutely delicious. We ordered the yellow curry and pad see ew, both with chicken and mild spice. The level of heat was perfect, not too spicy but with a slight tingle that added a depth of flavor. The pad see ew was super savory with a nice char on the noodles. The prices were also super reasonable and much more affordable than other places we've been. 100% recommend! tbh this place looks dingy and not like one where i'd like to dine in. but i come here a lot and it has quickly become my go-to thai place. the food tastes great and the portion size compared to the price can't be beat. you can order from their website and your order will be complete in like 15 minutes. i was sick recently and ordered a tom yum soup AND a green curry and both were so soothing and filling and spicy in a way where i could actually taste it and i swear it healed me. staff is very nice and on top of things. i think you can just tell that it's the type of place that is family run and they're doing their best. i would definitely call this a hidden gem in orange and encourage you to give it a try. dishes that i really like from here are: pad thai pad see ew pad kee mao green curry tom yum soup chicken satay appetizer garlic green beans spicy eggplant read more

Dined here for the first time recently. Although the restaurant was nice and clean, their dishes could've been slightly better. Beef Nam Tok was OK. Tom Yum soup could use some more stuff in it, but otherwise tasted good. The only dish I felt was delicious and worth the money was the Pad Thai. read more

If you want simple Thai comfort food, Nava is the place to go. It's a small but mighty location. Service is great and food is yummy. I wouldn't say that the food is the best Thai food I've ever had. But it's consistent and it keeps me coming back. I always enjoy their khao soi. I usually like the crunchy noodles on the side so they stay crunchy. The coconut broth was creamy, salty and sweet. They chicken is fork tender and very flavorful. I also ordered their garlic chicken and sticky rice so I can have them together. And oh man that was a really great combo! The only thing I didn't enjoy was the Thai iced coffee. It didn't have any depth to it. The plus side, I thought everything was reasonably price. Nava Thai is a little gem tucked in the northern corner of the city of Orange in a nondescript strip mall. But don't let the blink-and-you'll-miss-it exterior fool you; the food inside shouldn't be overlooked. What We Ate: We ordered the Khao Soi (coconut curry noodle soup) with chicken, the garlic wings, a side of sticky rice, and a Thai iced coffee. What We Loved: Despite enjoying Thai food for most of my adult life, I'd never had Khao Soi before. Heck, I had never even heard of it before I saw it on their menu. But when I did, I knew I had to try it -- and I'm so happy I did. It was delicious! If you love egg noodles and Thai curries, this is the perfect combination. The sticky rice was good, made even better when combining it with the garlic wings. What We Liked: The garlic wings were good ... but also quite salty. And of the 5 wings we got, 2 of them were overly chewy and difficult to get off the bone. Fortunately, the other 3 wings were melt off the bone and enjoyable. What We Liked Less: The Thai iced coffee was solid, but tasted like it came from a can, powder, or concentrate. If you're hankering for caffeine, it should suffice. But if you're looking for something more authentic, look elsewhere. What We Saw: The interior is kinda small, with a max of about 8 tables, and has a weird layout -- probably because it was converted from a different type of business. But it's clean and adorned with Thai decorations. Plus there are TVs showing a video of gorgeous Thai scenery. Outside, the parking is kinda limited and also oddly laid out due to the triangular plot of land of the strip mall. Fortunately, it's never super packed when we were there, so we easily found a spot. What the Service Was Like: The servers were friendly and knowledgeable. They didn't check up on us too often (typical of Asian restaurants) and we had to flag down our server a couple of times. But they were always quick to help when we did. Overall: Nava Thai has quickly become one of our top 5 Thai restaurants in Orange County. The food is good, the service is friendly, and the pricing remains reasonable in an age when we're overcharged for everything. I WILL be returning! read more

I normally only give 4 stars to places I really like cuz 5 stars may be hard to believe. However my 5 stars is true for Nava, and no they are not my relatives or friend . My wife and I both loved our 1st visit here and our three dishes were great. We paid almost $50 and will have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. As a transplant into the OC from the IE, I've found that there are sooo many options for all kinds of cuisines out here. I chose Nava because the reviews sounded so good and it was close to the freeway. At first, pulling up and seeing the 7-Eleven and small parking lot, I admit I was a little nervous going in. That didn't stop me though and I'm really glad it didn't! My parents and I tried so much food... honestly couldn't choose one favorite, so I would suggest the Tom Kha Kai soup (best broth I've had in the US, I think) and the Ka Prow Bangkok. You can't go wrong with anything tho. We ordered a lot between 3 of us, but ordered more to take home (in addition to the leftovers we had). I'm so glad I experienced this. Got food to go. The place was clean and the lady who took our order was nice. The food came out fairly quickly and it was still hot when I got home. We ordered thai tea, pad thai, massaman curry, pineapple fried rice, bbq ribs, and received complimentary cream cheese wontons for an order over 50$ which was a lovely touch. Thai tea had a nice strong flavor with the right amount of sweetness and creaminess. Pad thai was nice and saucy and had plenty of veggies. It was also loaded with chicken and shrimp. Massaman curry had a wonderful flavor that was a perfect combination of sweet and spicy. Potatoes and carrots add extra textures and heightens the dish. It came with a serving of white rice that does a great job of absorbing the flavors and pairs well. Pineapple fried rice was a delightful mix of savory and sweet! It had a generous amount of chicken chunks and cashews add a nice crunch to your bite. The pineapples add a burst of freshness. Bbq ribs were tender and the meat was practically falling off the bone. It was marinated in an array of spices that made it so flavorful. Cream cheese wontons were crispy with a good amount of filling. The sweet and sour sauce provided rounded out the palate. This review is for a Postmates order. Got the boat noodle and combination fried rice. Boat noodle didn't taste authentic, that rich deep aroma from the soup is lacking; just tasted kinda beefy and salty but didn't have that true boat noodle taste. Lots of beef slices and beef balls but veggies like water spinach is missing. Also they didn't include vinegar jalepenos, chili pepper or any authentic sauce condiments in small containers. Combination fried rice lacked wok hei and did not have that signature Thai flavor you'd expect. Just tasted like fried rice from a Chinese place. Also a bit oily. I've been here several times. I came first with my coworkers and have continued to go. The ambiance is chill, small place with home vibes. Pictures on the walls as well as large tvs. The service is always great, one server during the week and they do get busy during th lunch hour. My first visit was a larger group and a pretty busy room. She kept up, and food was out pretty fast. The food is amazing.. I ordered the yellow curry lunch special and usually do. I ordered yellow curry (medium spice), cream cheese wontons, chicken satay, and a side of fried rice for delivery. The food was ok but not great. I was happy with the delivery, food was still hot and it was quick. The wontons were the best thing. They were still crispy and hot when they arrived. The chicken satay was good but the peanut sauce wasn't very flavorful. Curry and fried rice was just ok but not a lot of flavor there either. Great food and service. We had the Tom yum soup, panang curry, pineapple curry and a couple of other curries and they were all delicious. My favorite was the panang curry. After the meal we topped it off with the mango sticky rice which was one of the best I've had in a long time. Definitely recommend this place. read more

This is my third time coming to this restaurant and it's quickly become my lunch spot! Consistently flavorful dishes and friendly staff. They are very attentive and give honest feedback. My friend was going to order extra noodles for her tom yum noodle dish, but our waitress asked, "Are you sure? The dish comes with a lot of noodles already." My friend trusted her feedback and sure enough, there were plenty of noodles to enjoy in her soup! I tried a bit and the broth had the perfect amount of sour and spice. I ordered tom kai for lunch and it was pleasantly subtle sweet from the coconut and mild spice, the waitress asked for spice level of course, I just can't handle too much spice. The food was okay. I ordered a beef pad thai, and it was mostly noodles with no peanut bits. Not anything out of the ordinary, but it was nearby, and it tastes like any other. Like most of the previous reviewers have mentioned, the staff here is kind and friendly. In terms of the food, I'd say this place is a solid Thai restaurant for the area. Is it the most authentic and tasty I've had? No. But for the area, I'd return and try some of their other dishes. For my first visit, I ordered the pad thai with chicken and papaya salad for dine in, and bbq chicken to go. The pad thai was too sweet for my personal preference but the textures and cook were good. The papaya salad was refreshing, but was not sufficiently pounded during the preparation process and so the sauce was not able to permeate through the green papaya. I didn't finish the salad and brought it to-go, and after sitting in the sauce for several hours, the flavor of the dish was significantly tastier. I would skip the bbq chicken as it was on the dry side, and flavor wise was very meh. read more

This is definitely one of the best Thai food restaurants we've ever been to. Our first time eating here and it wasn't crowded and we were seated right away and brought water while we looked over the menu. Very nice and polite server girl we had was very helpful in letting us know they aren't making the fresh spring rolls that aren't deep fried due to the company that they get the rice paper from is poor quality so that showed me that they care about quality food. My chicken soup with added shrimp was literally the best bowl of soup ive ever had. It had a medium spice with potatoes, carrots and onions with a maybe lime citrus flavor that bangs your taste buds. The curry chicken was perfect in every way with a medium spice also. Portions were good and for 50.00 we ate like King and Queen. It's very quiet and relaxing inside.
