This place has been on my bucket list for a while. I've tried going to the original location before, but the wait has always been ridiculous. Now I can see why the wait is so long, and honestly, it's totally worth it. I absolutely loved the vibe and overall atmosphere. It really gives you that hole-in-the-wall feeling. The restaurant isn't very large, and the design is super unique, which makes the whole experience feel even more special. Chicken Satay - The chicken was nicely grilled and paired with a tangy peanut sauce and pickled vegetables. I really liked the tanginess of the peanut sauce. It had a brighter, more tangy flavor than other spots I've tried. Massamune Curry w/ Hanger Steak - I don't even know where to start with this one. It was a complete flavor bomb. The curry was incredibly flavorful with just a hint of sweetness. The peanuts and potatoes added the perfect balance of crunch and texture. The roti was the star for me, with that perfect crispy texture for soaking up all the sauce. And the hanger steak was chef's kiss. Perfectly cooked medium rare with an amazing crispy sear. I want to preface the facts. We did arrive at 9:33pm. Apparently they stop seating at 9:30pm. We were a group of 4. We arrived and told the hostess for 4. She informed us that they usually stop seating at 9:30. I don't know what she said exactly afterward but her whole vibe was "I can sit you down I guessssss". We felt unwelcomed and I even said "you don't have to sit us down, we can just go" but she might've not heard me or ignored me. Whatever, we sat down and proceeded to order fast so that we weren't being rude and holding up their closing at 10pm. We got 3 plates, the food tasted mid, over priced, smaller portions than normal for a Thai place. The place itself was nice. Very nice. They were definitely trendy. The guy who brought us tea, and the older woman managing the place were nice and honestly make up for it. The food was lowkey kinda room temp or cold. I will probably give it another chance another time in the day to judge it better. But again, the prices for more were a little much but that could be cause of the economy lol. read more

I'm a huge Hanuman fan so I was thrilled when they opened one in my area. It's a cozy space and beautifully decorated. The staff is friendly and helpful with giving suggestions. We got thai tea and lychee mocktail to drink. For food we got the crying tiger, pad thai, and massaman curry with fried chicken. Thai Tea- Sweet and refreshing with a strong flavor. One of the best I've had. Lychee Mocktail- Sweet and fruity with a light tangy finish. Very summery! Crying Tiger- Steak is tender with a light sear. The marinade is on point with the flavor mixture. A delightful appetizer! Pad Thai- Chewy noodles with lots of tofu and veggies to add a later of textures. The sauce is delicious and every bite is perfect. Massaman Curry- The curry base is a wonderful blend of sweet and savory. Ypu get peanits and potatoes to bulk up the sauce. You get to pick a protein and we opted for the fried chicken thigh. This was a really enjoyable meal. The place is so aesthetic and prettily decorated. Our server was really sweet and helpful throughout too. We were a large group, with some people eating only vegetarian , while others had non-veg, but we all were served really well. Some of the dishes we ordered were - the raw papaya salad, chicken satay, Khao Soi, Drunken noodles, spicy basil pad Ga Pow Kai Dao. We also ordered their iced Thai tea and a mango sticky rice inspired mocktail. Everything tasted really good. The spice level was great too, but it never overpowered the flavor of the dish. My favorite has to be the drunken noodles and iced Thai tea tho. Very very good flavor! For desert, we ordered a s'mores kinda desert that I can't remember the name of. We went to Hanuman in Orange to celebrate my brother-in-law's birthday with some great Thai food. They offer great specialty dishes that go beyond the standard Thai menu. The panang curry was rich and creamy, served with a good portion of steak over rice. The Khao Soi came with chicken in a delicious broth. We also ordered the Pad See Ew with shrimp, which had a great flavor as well. To finish the birthday dinner, they brought out a tasty creme brulee and played a fun song! I've only ordered take-out from the Newport Beach location and always liked the food there. So I'm happy they opened this location that's closer to me so I finally got to dine in. I got the Drunken Noodles and it was delicious. The dish was juicy, not overly spicy (I ordered mild and it came out perfectly mild), a little sweet all around but bold and flavorful. My BF's Kheak Salad was also interesting, and he loved it. I took a few bites just to see and I had to agree. Never had a salad made this way, especially with the curry, peanut-y dressing. I love that there's a hook underneath the bar table for me to hang my purse. That's so thoughtful of the restaurant to provide. The space is new, cute, modern and clean. Saw all the good reviews and decided to come here for an early dinner. Parking is easy but this place gets a lot of customers. So be prepared to wait a bit, as there aren't that many seatings inside either. Service was good. Waitresses were attentive Food quality was excellent. Wow I'm so happy Hanuman is now in Orange! They've remodeled the whole building so nicely and surprisingly fit several tables. It's a bit of a tight squeeze but everything else makes it worth it. Service was top notch, friendly and knowledgeable. Suggested great items like the crispy wings, which was my favorite dish and the mago dessert. They told us this is a seasonal item, the mango is only up to their standard of quality 3 months out of the year. The ceviche was a wonderful surprise along with the rice puffs. Last, the Khao Soi got better as it sat there, so many layers of flavors and the crispy noodles were a great add on. There was a wait but it went by faster than suggested. I've been dying to try Hanuman for years. For years their only location was the Costa Mesa one and the wait was so long. I was blown away by the flavor and quality of the food here. The curry is a perfect mix of sweet salty and spicy. I would also recommend getting your steak rare! The hanger steak is $22 which I believe is pretty good bang for your buck. The decor inside is very pretty but I was seated outside which I would not recommend. The lighting outsude is kind of dark and service is slower since you are outside. I've been here a couple of times now and decided to try a few new dishes on this visit. Overall, it was another good meal, but a few items were definitely better than others. The papaya salad was probably my least favorite. I'd skip it next time. It was much sweeter than I expected, and the tamarind flavor was really overpowering. I was hoping for something more tangy, acidic, and spicy, but it just didn't hit the mark for me. The chicken wings (Gai Todd Hat Yai) with sticky rice was easily one of the highlights of the meal. I can see why they're so popular. The wings were perfectly crispy on the outside while still juicy inside, and they paired really well with the sticky rice. The drunken noodles are still my go-to here. I've ordered them every time I've visited, and they're consistently delicious. Great wok flavor, plenty of spice, and definitely one of the better drunken noodles I've had. I also tried the pad see ew for the first time. The wok char and overall flavor were really good, but it leaned a little too sweet for my taste. Unfortunately, one piece of the pork was also undercooked and still pink, which was disappointing. I had high hopes for the Massaman curry with hangar steak, but it ended up being another letdown. The steak itself was okay, but the curry sauce wasn't what I expected. It had a different flavor than most Massaman curries I've had, and not in a way that really worked for me. We came for an early dinner, so there wasn't a wait this time, which was nice. All I can say is WOW! Stopped here while waiting for my car to get new tires installed. It looked delicious from pics I saw online and knew I had to stop in for a bite. They have a nice patio if you want to eat outside, a few bar seats, and tables surrounding it. Started off with a cocktail called something Samui, it was deliciously refreshing with natural mint flavors. For an appetizer I had to try the Son-In-Law's Egg. They're deep fried hard boiled eggs in a caramelized tamarind glaze. The batter they use to fry them in is so light it adds just the right amount on crispy to the outside. The glaze is perfectly sweet and sour. For my entree I had to try the Gai Todd Hat Yai. It's Thaj street food style fried chicken wings from the chef's hometown with a side of sticky rice and a sweet chili sauce. They were seriously good! The wings were perfectly crispy again with a nice light batter. They had a nice flavor and were super juicy. They came out piping hot too which was nice. The sweet chili sauce was nice to drizzle on top and the sticky rice was great. I had to get some curry to bring home to the fiancé so I got the green curry with chicken. It was a flavor explosion with a good spicy kick to it. She was very happy with it :) The hostess and servers were all very friendly and more than happy to walk you through the menu if you're unfamiliar with Thai cuisine or your first time dining here. I came on a thursday evening around 5pm, got greeted and sat down right away. I told the waitress Nikki if we can do the dineThai deal, which included the fried chicken wing Gai Tod, green papaya salad, 2 thai ice tea and a free thai inhaler and lip balm for $45. We also ordered pad see ew chicken and drunken noodle pork. I've tried all 4 dishes at the cista mesa location already, I can say that the food here is consistent with the other location. The Pad see ew at hanuman thai eatery is the best lad see ew I've ever eaten and is my favorite and must order each time. Great flavor with a smokey taste, portion size good and good amount of chicken. The fried chicken wing gai tod is also a must order, super crispy, juicy, and fried golden brown delicious. At this orange location, you can only get the Khao sawan dessert here. I've had this dessert twice here already and I must say it is definitely a must order to end a perfect Dinner. The portion size isn't too big, but the unique flavor is really amazing. It is riceberry rice thai custard pair with meringue shards and homemade salted coconut ice cream with a side of crimble biscuits. I have been looking at this spot since it replaced the Hooters Wings, and I finally convinced my wife to go, and I think she is more hooked than I am. We have 3 really good new-ish Thai spots in Orange/Tustin, and Hanuman is the newest and smallest. It also has the smallest menu, but everything I have had is great and the plating here beats the other 2 spots. I have tried a couple of the beef curry items, and they are all really tasty with rare/medium rare hanger steak sliced, the curry sauce with veggies and rice. It is just perfect for me. Absolute banger. Top 3 Thai restaurants of all time. Number one thing you gotta get is their Hat Yai chicken wings and eat them things with hands. Grab that rice, dip in their sweet sauce, roll it around their crispy shallots, take a bite of that wing and rice. Thank me later. Everything about this place is 10/10 -- atmosphere, interior decor, attentive service, friendly hosts, food, food, dessert. Aside from the Hat Yai, we also got the Rad Naa and Green Curry, both yumms. And of course, when it's in season, do NOT miss out on the mango sticky rice. Delicious! I came here with family early on a Saturday evening (around 4:30pm) and got seated right away. The restaurant is on the smaller side and beautifully decorated. We shared Drunken noodles with chicken, shrimp fried rice, Panang shrimp curry, and mango sticky rice. The menu has just enough offerings without being overwhelming. The food came out quickly, I would say within 10 minutes of ordering. The shrimp fried rice came with large, perfectly cooked shrimp with salty egg. This was all of our first time trying the salty egg and the server warned us not to eat on its own but instead eat it with the rice which balanced all the flavors. I got medium spicy for the drunken noodle which was just spicy enough. The noodles were flat and fat with very tender chicken. The shrimp curry had a mild sweetness to it and also had the large and juicy shrimp. All the dishes were tasty and presented beautifully. Lastly, the mango sticky rice was sweet, soft, and the mangos were perfectly ripe. It was a great ending to the meal. Service was very prompt and friendly. You will not have any lingering empty stomach plates hanging out on the table and we were checked on often. Definitely worth the trip to Orange County! read more

Our new favorite bougie Thai restaurant in town! Located off Chapman near the American Tire shop. It's a small, intimate space, so definitely make a reservation or add yourself to the waitlist when you're leaving the house. They also have patio seating! The restaurant has been renovated beautifully, and there was a line out the door our entire dinner. I really hope this place is here to STAY, especially since a few restaurants have come and gone from this location recently! Every dish that passed our table looked like a piece of artwork and smelled amazing. FYI, the bar is considered part of the restaurant, so you still have to wait to be seated there. We started with the chicken wings and sticky rice. The wings were crispy and packed with flavor! We also shared the Pad See Ew, one of our go-to Thai dishes, and of course it was delicious. The shrimp were nice and big too! The star of the night was the steak with Massaman curry... OMG. SO GOOD. The steak was tender and perfectly medium rare, and the flaky little breads were amazing dipped into the curry. The spice level is mild, but they give you sauces to add more heat. We definitely had leftovers! I also tried the Coco Mango cocktail. Very decadent and sweet! It could have used a little more ice since it was pretty warm inside, but still delicious. I love that their cocktails can be made with or without alcohol. The desserts looked incredible, but we were completely out of room. However, nothing is ever too spicy, it's more like a mild-medium, I do wish they would make the dishes spicier for those with higher spice tolerance. They have great cocktails but all on the sweeter style and not too spirit forward. Service is always great and the staff is very friendly. Nicely decorated but not too upscale. The restaurant only has a dozen or so tables and a few more outside, so wait times can be up to an hour when it's busy. This is Hanuman's newest location in Orange. Easy parking in the lot. We checked in on Yelp on a Friday around 5:30 pm and the expected wait time was 6:05, but ended up being seated closer to 6:15. The restaurant is on the smaller side with tables, booths, and bar seating. It was pretty loud inside but the decor is nice and has a slightly upscale feel. Service started a bit slow and it took a while for someone to bring water and take our order, though the staff was friendly. For six people we ordered the chicken satay, papaya salad, chicken pad thai, pork pad see ew, Hat Yai fried chicken, chicken yellow curry, and pad kra pao. Portions are normal sized and it was the perfect amount of food. The highlights were the chicken satay, pad see ew, and Hat Yai chicken. The satay sauce was unique, the Hat Yai chicken was perfectly crispy, and the pad see ew was packed with flavor. The papaya salad and pad kra pao were good but didn't stand out as much. They also have a great drink selection. I don't usually like Sing Tao, but Sing Tao on draft was something else. It was so smooth. The mango sticky rice beer and tom yum beer were both unique and worth trying. Overall a solid spot and I'd come back to try more dishes and drinks. read more

We joined the waitlist on yelp which was super helpful because there was already a long wait when we got there and it just kept getting longer. Staff was very kind and considerate of us having two young kids with us. It's very nice inside and it is pretty small but they get people in as quickly as they can. We're so glad they moved closer north! Their Costa Mesa locations are a bit too far for us (we drive from Diamond Bar). We watched a movie in Orange and decided to go eat at Hanuman in the area. They let you join waitlist from a distance so be sure to join early! We joined it as soon as we left the theatre but there 25 parties ahead of us and our estimated wait was about 1+ hours. For 25 parties ahead and how small the restaurant is, I'm so surprised how quickly they went through to fill the tables. We just walked around in the area and before we knew it, our table was ready! This is our second time but we remembered our first time at Hanuman at the CM location being so mind blowingly good. We weren't super hungry and the portions are quite big so we decided to just order the drunken noodles (our fav) and the Khao Soi! Drunken noodles are always a good go to and we've never been disappointed. This time, we felt like the Khao Soi got a bit overwhelming at the end. It is a thicker soup and we also came to realize, we're not the biggest fans of Khao Soi. It was delicious though! The other dish I remember being really good was the fried chicken and sticky rice. This Orange location opened recently, and we came at 6:10pm to put our name down. The Yelp system said it was a 9-10 min wait. Time passed by and it was longer than 10 mins... even waiting for an hour just to get seated. The restaurant itself is pretty small, but everyone dining here just seems to be dining for sooo long. The waitlist would move very slowly. We finally got seated at the counter, which we already knew what we wanted so we immediately went to order. Luckily the wait to receive our food didn't take as long. We were sitting right in front of the bartender, so we got our Thai teas first. We ordered the Gai Todd Hat Yai (Chicken Wings), Khao Soi, The Son-in-Law's Egg, and the Pad Thai. The chicken wings were my favorite, juicy with a nice crisp. The sticky ride they had with it was pretty nice, but the chicken wings were the star of the show. The Khao Soi, I used to liked this one, but this one just seemed too heavy and rich. It was kind of overwhelming and flavors were on the sweeter side. Son-In-Law's Eggs was pretty boring, and all you can taste is the sweet sauce that was covered in. The egg was not special in anyway. Pad Thai was okay, although it seemed like there wasn't too much of an effort with flavor putting this one together. This place is the newest of the Franchise that started at the Costa Mesa location and branched out to the main area of Tustin, where many of the small businesses are located! It's highly recommended that you try this particular place. The reason being that the owner, Jenny, stays here doing daily tasting of the dishes and monitors all of the operations! Visited Hanuman Thai Eatery's new Orange location last night and had such a lovely experience. I've been to their Costa Mesa location before and always enjoyed it, so I was really looking forward to trying this new branch, and it truly did not disappoint. Hut was very polite and respectful, and Jenny was just as warm and welcoming. Their hospitality made us feel comfortable right away, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The food was amazing, the ambience was beautiful, and the service was every bit as great as what I've experienced at their other location. It's honestly so nice to see a restaurant grow while still keeping the same quality, care, and genuine hospitality. I'll definitely be back and would happily recommend Hanuman Thai Eatery to anyone looking for authentic Thai food and a wonderful dining experience. read more

We had an awesome experience here at Hanuman Thai Eatery. We came by for my wife's birthday lunch with one of friends. He said he had gone to the other location and loved it. The location shares parking with an America's Tire. Parking is offered on both sides of the building. The staff here greeted and seated us quickly as we arrived right around opening for service. The restaurant is nice and clean. The decorations/artwork are beautiful and all around the restaurant. It's a compact location with various table sizes and also a bar with some seats. We ended up ordering all of these to share as it's family style: -Pad See Ew with Chicken -Hanuman's Ceviche -Gai Todd Hat Yai (fried chicken + sticky rice) -Khao Soi -Khao Sawan (dessert) -Tom Kha & Mango Sticky Rice Beer I will cosign on everything dish we ordered. Each one was tremendous and as advertised! The presentation of each dish makes its easy to take a great pictures. The Pad See Ew was exceptional and one of better ones I've had. That ceviche is a must try! Great flavors and textures. The fried chicken was crispy and paired well with the sticky rice. The Khao Soi was full of deliciousness. It had all the right flavors and textures of a memorable Khao Soi. For the beers, go with the Mango Sticky Rice one. That one tasted good. Finally, that Khao Sawan was a must try to end the lunch for dessert. A great Thai dessert that is only offered at the Orange location. I hope this review did Hanuman justice. I would highly recommend coming here! The hospitality and elite level dishes were amazing. The staff treated us so well and we felt like family dining here. Been to all 3 locations now, food tasted probably the best at this one. The other ones are also still 9.5/10, but the orange location was marginally better somehow. The drunken noodles with the chicken was delicious and was not greasy/oily. The panang is too good and never disappoints with the hangar steak. The mango sticky rice was good too. The ambiance at the restaurant is nice and the employees are very kind. Just be willing to wait an hour at the least at peak times. read more

We came into Hanuman Thai Eatery excited to try one of the bigger names in the conversation of OC Thai spots. Having tried and enjoyed Manaao and Chiang Rai, we thought Hanuman's new Orange location would be the right opportunity. The wait was quite long even on a weekday evening, so be sure to join the waitlist ASAP. We were sat outside, but it started to sprinkle a little bit. Staff were very kind and tried to move us into a more sheltered area. Unfortunately, there were only two of us so we didn't get to try everything we wanted. We ordered the massaman curry with hanger steak and the Gai Todd hat yai. The curry's flavor profile was on point, but was just slightly less flavorful than some other restaurants I've had it at. The roti was good, but the steak, while cooked near to perfection temperature-wise, was fairly chewy. The wings were very good, and the flavors even on the unseasoned wings themselves were great. You can tell their ingredients are high quality All things considered, based off what little we got to try, and the prices as well, I think that Hanuman just falls a little bit short of the aforementioned OC Thai spots. I think that for the price, Manaao specifically is offering flavors just as good or better (at least compared to this Orange location). That being said, I think Hanuman is worth a shot, especially if you're local! read more
