I had the curry lunch special which ended up being a little too spicy for my mouth (health issue) she took it back and re adjusted the heat for me and it was much better. We proclaim this the best Thai restaurant in the area! Finally! 5 years of searching and we think we found the best Thai spot. It beats Manaao as well! We stopped by for lunch and ordered a pad see ew, a green Thai curry lunch special and a crab lump fried rice. My daughter always orders pad see ew, that's the one dish she gets every single time. The presentation was beautiful. At first bite she dropped her fork and said "omg, mommy this is so good. It's the best!" My green curry was flavorful. I ordered it with pork. I thought they could've given a little more white rice but it does come with two egg rolls and a salad. All for $13.50! The crab fried was perfectly seasoned with a hint of sweetness. The rice wasn't mushy or anything. Just perfectly done. I thought the quality of the crab could be better, it was shredded in texture and tasted watered down. Very authentic, delicious Thai food with generous portions and friendly, excellent service. We didn't have time to wait 1-2 hours for the more trendy Thai places in Tustin so gave this a try. We had pretty good experience here for our first meal in SoCal and enjoyed it. We ordered the tofu veggie stir fried with garlic and pepper and it was very enjoyable. I also ordered thr fried rice which was delicious too. We had requested it to be spicy 4/5 however when it came out it was not thaaat spicy. I would have liked it to be more spicy but not a problem since their spice rack was super good, so we enjoyed it. The service was super nice. They were playing with our baby and were super nice in general. The ambience was pretty chill in general for the restaurant and it was a good day out for dinner. Thai Chaiyo Tustin, is located in a small plaza off 17th street near the 55 freeway. I attended a recent event here and loved my food, so I decided to bring some people from my family to give them a try. Just like my prior visit, service was very friendly. We were seated right away. The space is narrow and only has several tables for dine-in. I think that there are probably more people who order for pickup because a lot came in to grab their food during our entire visit. It seems they have a good amount of regulars too. Almost like the Cheers bar in MA where everybody knows your name. Kinda nice actually. What we ordered: 1) pad see ew with crispy pork - 5/5. The kids loved this so much we needed up having to order two. 2) garlic salmon - 4/5. Served over a bed of veggies. This one was à la cart so we had to order a side of rice. It's enough for one person. This was covered with garlicky goodness. My son was wanting more. 3) Panang curry - 5/5. Not pictured here. One of our guests started to devour that dish before I could even take a photo. Sadly, they weren't familiar with me wanting to take a picture. The kids were like "oh no. We don't touch our food before the little photoshoot" LOL. Overall, we really enjoyed our food. BAD FOOD. Not authentic Thai food. I would call it Chinese or Filipino or Hawaiian food. Loaded with sugar. Bland. No taste. Bbq chicken is not grilled. Boiled brown sauce chicken. Papaya salad is so small for 16-17 dollars. It not not even handful of a portion, GET REAL, this is not authentic Thai food may be local like sweet and Hawaiian. The eggrolls were a little mushy inside and didn't have the greatest tasting filling that I would get at one of our favorites. The green curry was ok but didn't have the same punch. The duck in the duck curry was really chewy even though the flavor of the curry was decent. came around 4 PM on a weekday and was seated right away with no wait. The restaurant has such a cozy, homey feel and the decor is super cute. It honestly feels very family owned and welcoming. There was an adorable grandma serving the food, which made the whole experience even more charming. We started with the chicken satay. The chicken itself was slightly on the drier side, but the peanut sauce totally made up for it. For mains, we ordered the pad see ew with beef. The noodle texture was excellent: soft with just the right amount of chew, and the seasoning was well balanced. I liked that they used Chinese broccoli, which gave it a nice slight bitterness to contrast the savory sauce. The egg was placed more in the center instead of being fully mixed throughout, which was a little different but still tasted great. We also tried the Bangkok drink and Thai tea. Got the Pad See Ew with tofu, my go-to at thai places and it was super tasty! I verified with the server that it had no fish sauce, egg okay. I'm used to non-veggie places slacking off on flavoring their vegetarian options (Manaao Thai I'm looking at you) but even the tofu here was pretty well seasoned. Tried the Pad See Ew with Beef and the Full-sized BBQ Chicken with a side of rice -- all for around $41. The Pad See Ew was delicious, you can never go wrong with getting that. The BBQ chicken was good too; it had a tangy flavor and the sauces it came with are a nice addition. The service was fine. However, I'd avoid ordering on their website since their software was a little weird -- our order didn't process on the website, so we had to call and they had to manually accept it (they were confused about it too). As we were about to pick up the food, they called us to say they didn't have mangos for the Mango Sticky Rice we originally ordered, so they cancelled it and refunded us for that item with cash when we arrived. My review is long overdue. I came to place a takeout order a while back one late afternoon. I think it's ran by a couple and they were super sweet. The lady took my order and then I paid and waited at the restaurant. I really like how they decorated the place. If I dine in, I would love to sit at one of the two tables right next to the glass wall, so you can look outside. It has an outdoor indoor courtyard feel. Friday night dinner cravings brought us into Thai Chaiyo, parking was easy to find, and there was not a wait at 6 pm. Tables filled up quickly as soon as we sat down. Small and humble space with sticky menus a and a waiter that didn't seem to know when or how to cut in to take our order, drink refills, or basic check-ins. Service and atmosphere were left lukewarm, just like my water. Coconut Shrimp ($10.50) - Avoid at all costs. The star for specialty means nothing. As soon as the appetizer was placed, I thought, "Wow, generous serving." Only to be left underwhelmed. All you taste is coconut, the small side of sweet and sour sauce for dipping does nothing to accompany the screaming coconut flakes. Shrimp, where? All batter. Not to mention the color of the fry on this. Pad See Ew ($13.95) - With chicken. Delicious. Really good, tasted like every other pad See ew I've ever had which is great.
