Sweet Black Bean and Large Rice Noodles 'Pad See Ew' (Signature Dish) (V) - with crispy pork
    Jaymes M.

Thai Chaiyo Tustin, is located in a small plaza off 17th street near the 55 freeway. I attended a recent event here and loved my food, so I decided to bring some people from my family to give them a try. Just like my prior visit, service was very friendly. We were seated right away. The space is narrow and only has several tables for dine-in. I think that there are probably more people who order for pickup because a lot came in to grab their food during our entire visit. It seems they have a good amount of regulars too. Almost like the Cheers bar in MA where everybody knows your name. Kinda nice actually. What we ordered: 1) pad see ew with crispy pork - 5/5. The kids loved this so much we needed up having to order two. 2) garlic salmon - 4/5. Served over a bed of veggies. This one was à la cart so we had to order a side of rice. It's enough for one person. This was covered with garlicky goodness. My son was wanting more. 3) Panang curry - 5/5. Not pictured here. One of our guests started to devour that dish before I could even take a photo. Sadly, they weren't familiar with me wanting to take a picture. The kids were like "oh no. We don't touch our food before the little photoshoot" LOL. Overall, we really enjoyed our food. I'm not in the area frequently, but if I was around and wanted Thai, I would definitely come back for more. Service was great and staff were attentive and friendly. What more could you ask for?

The service and restaurant were fine, but just not my favorite thai food. The eggrolls were a little mushy inside and didn't have the greatest tasting filling that I would get at one of our favorites. The green curry was ok but didn't have the same punch. The duck in the duck curry was really chewy even though the flavor of the curry was decent. We thought the mango with sticky rice was ok, but the mangoes weren't as ripe as I would have liked.

Tom yum is sparse with toppings(?) but soup base was soooo good. Crab fried rice was a bit too sweet for me and crab claw meat was bland but my brother likes it a lot so I guess it's a personal preference. Service was good! Granted we were the only party there (came right when the opened lol). Mom and pop vibes. I think it's a solid Thai place for cravings.

came around 4 PM on a weekday and was seated right away with no wait. The restaurant has such a cozy, homey feel and the decor is super cute. It honestly feels very family owned and welcoming. There was an adorable grandma serving the food, which made the whole experience even more charming. We started with the chicken satay. The chicken itself was slightly on the drier side, but the peanut sauce totally made up for it. For mains, we ordered the pad see ew with beef. The noodle texture was excellent: soft with just the right amount of chew, and the seasoning was well balanced. I liked that they used Chinese broccoli, which gave it a nice slight bitterness to contrast the savory sauce. The egg was placed more in the center instead of being fully mixed throughout, which was a little different but still tasted great. We also tried the Bangkok drink and Thai tea. I appreciated that they asked how sweet we wanted the drinks, it's always nice when places let you customize the sweetness level.

Great service. Small place. A few tables inside. Clean. I really enjoyed the basil and chili sauce. It was very flavorful. I soaked it all up with the rice. The only thing I was disappointed in was the protein to veggie ratio.

Consistent service and food quality. It's a little hole in the wall which makes it even better! Love the Tom kha soup and the drunken noodles were delicious!!

Chicken instead of ordered it pork Panang Curry

Been a customer for 15+ years. Orderedwith Uber Eats tonight. Usualu the Tom Kha Beef soup is thick and coconut milk filler.... today it was all watered down like tea water. The beef was purple colored. The Pad Kee Mow was not cooked properly with the red chilli spices still partially raw. Ordered the pork Panang Curry but I got chicken delivered! Not sure what's going on with your restaurant! Requested side of Green Chillies in Vinegar ... received nothing! It was requested in writing on the order.

Got the Pad See Ew with tofu, my go-to at thai places and it was super tasty! I verified with the server that it had no fish sauce, egg okay. I'm used to non-veggie places slacking off on flavoring their vegetarian options (Manaao Thai I'm looking at you) but even the tofu here was pretty well seasoned. No line, food came super quick, and service was super friendly! What more to ask for!

Tried the Pad See Ew with Beef and the Full-sized BBQ Chicken with a side of rice -- all for around $41. The Pad See Ew was delicious, you can never go wrong with getting that. The BBQ chicken was good too; it had a tangy flavor and the sauces it came with are a nice addition. The service was fine. However, I'd avoid ordering on their website since their software was a little weird -- our order didn't process on the website, so we had to call and they had to manually accept it (they were confused about it too). As we were about to pick up the food, they called us to say they didn't have mangos for the Mango Sticky Rice we originally ordered, so they cancelled it and refunded us for that item with cash when we arrived. Lastly, we picked up our food on a Thursday afternoon. It wasn't busy at all, all the tables were free and there was no line. The inside was cutely decorated too. Parking was also ok!

My review is long overdue. I came to place a takeout order a while back one late afternoon. I think it's ran by a couple and they were super sweet. The lady took my order and then I paid and waited at the restaurant. I really like how they decorated the place. If I dine in, I would love to sit at one of the two tables right next to the glass wall, so you can look outside. It has an outdoor indoor courtyard feel. I order drunken noodles, spicy beef salad, chicken satay, and mango sticky. rice (because of the blue/purple sticky rice). Food was really good and I was so happy and satisfied. Highly recommend!

Before -- (Sweet Black Bean and Large Rice Noodles 'Pad See Ew' (Signature Dish)) with crispy pork

Wow! Absolutely incredible food. My boyfriend and I split the red bell pepper bamboo curry and the pad see ew with crispy pork. Omg it's so good! The curry was full of flavor and the pork was cooked to perfection. The staff was also incredibly kind! I'm going to bring all my friends and family here.

We got 1. Crab fried rice claw meat: 9/10 my favorite dish of the meal! Very flavorful and it leans very slightly sweet. 2. Pad Thai w beef (8/10) good flavor but the noodles were just a little too wet 3. Pad kee mao: (5/10) this was kind of a miss for us. Flavor did not taste any like regular drunken noodles. You can already tell by the color. 4. Panang curry (9/10) another hit for the table 5. Thai tea was HUGE

One of my favorite things to pair with our meal is their spice rack. If you are able to handle a bit of heat, ask for it and introduce the pickle chili to your dish. It elevates flavor with contrast quite well. Pad See Ew and Crab fried rice is what we ordered. The first visit had beef salad which paired great with the rest of the meal. There are a decent amount of entrees for around $15 and up. I like the somewhat starter sweet plain cabbage soup starter, served along with a romaine lettuce side salad with a coupe of grape tomatoes, a teeny piece of avocado and cantaloupe. I wish the soup wasn't so sweet but cabbage is a good of sulforophane - an antioxidant. And they give you an egg roll. I typically order one of the curry dishes - the yellow is probably the ,post popular with pieces of carrot, onions, and potatoes. The coconut and yellow curry is the mildest of the curries, and a tad too sweet im my opinion. But otherwise, I like the coconut milk with turmeric-curry flavor and the generous pieces of chicken. A friend of mine sometimes meets me here for lunch and orders the shrimp pad Thai which is an extra $2 I think. The lunch size portions are smaller than the dinner entree sizes but filling enough for most. Some says from 12 noon to 2 PM you might have to wait. Parking might be a little crowded as there is a laundry next door. Service overall is prompt but sometimes when it's crowded you will have to wait for your order and your food. The interior is definitely modern Asian with ample lighting, white interior, and splashes of vibrant color. It's clean and inoffensive that fulfills its role well. However, the star of the show is the food and pricing. It's hard to find modern Chinese here in OC without paying an arm and a leg but Seven Grams is the best exception. The food here is fresh, light, flavorful, and doesn't break the bank. You get a good portion as well so if you're coming with a bigger group, it's easy to share. We also had the golden beef noodle soup. I wish they had a non spicy option because it was too spicy for us. The drinks on the other hand are amazing. I had the passion fruit green tea and really liked it. It had real passion fruit in there, not just powder. Kiddo also enjoyed their matcha strawberry drink. It was very creamy and rich. The drinks were pretty cheap, I think mine was under $5 and the matcha was like $6.50.
