Chiang Rai specializes in Northern Thai cuisine. They have a large menu to choose from and great decor. My group settled on some items to share. Pad Thai (chicken) - $19 - This dish consisted of rice noodles tossed with egg, tamarind and fish sauce, bean sprouts, peanuts and chicken. Chicken was tender and overall I fell this dish was good but I felt I have tried better in Bangkok. Som Tum Thai - $17 - This was made of shredded green papaya, lime juice, fish sauce, tomatoes, peanuts and shrimp. It was refreshing and crunchy and had great flavor. Khao soi (chicken) - $19 - Made with a rich coconut curry broth, egg noodles, and topped with crispy noodles, this had a lot of depth of flavor. This is one of their more popular dishes and I can see why. Goong Kan - $23 - This consisted of shrimp with shell on sauteed in a curry sauce. I'd probably pass on this, there was nothing unique about this dish. Mango Sticky Rice - $14 - The mango was so sweet and delicious here! The sweet and sticky riced paired with it and was the perfect way to end the meal here. Thai iced tea - $6 - Solid Thai tea option here, though it is on the sweeter side. Overall I enjoyed the khao soi and mango sticky rice. I definitely need to visit again to try some of their other specialties.

We came on a Sunday right when it opened and we were seated right away. Food was very flavorful. I love their papaya salad & pad seew. Green curry can be a little thicker, but overall really good. Steamed mussels wa a little tough, but the lime sauce makes up for the flavor. You have to come when it opens because it gets really busy.

My favorite Thai restaurant in OC and well deserved of their Michelin credentials (although it's priced in). It can be on the expensive side for Thai food, but I thought the quality of the food and large portions alleviated the cost. The food was superb and you can really taste the freshness of the ingredients and the bold flavors. Parking is easy to find, but can be a bit of a walk because of the structure of the strip mall. Food/Drink- 5 stars Som Tum Kai Tod- everything about this dish was divine. The chicken was juicy and perfectly fried. The salad had so much flavor. And the sticky rice was perfectly cooked, and stayed warm throughout our menu due to their presentation. Highly recommend it, but expect to get your hands dirty Aom Nure- the soup was a great way to round out the whole meal. Pad Mama- this was really good, and I'm glad I tried it over the more mainstream noodle dishes. Perfect wok hei and plenty of flavor Service- 5 stars Food came out pretty quickly and servers were pretty attentive. It can be a bit crowded on the seating though because of how small the restaurant is Bottom Line Excellent food and you can see the Michelin recognition. Do expect higher prices, but the portions and quality are there

Quaint restaurant with delicious Thai food. The Khao Soi Noodle Soup was flavorful from the broth and crispy soft shell crab. The soup was more of a curry consistency - viscous and creamy. The Poo Kari was tasty from the egg sauce over the soft shell crab with rice. It's a small restaurant so space is tight, but the interior decor makes it look like you're eating on the Thai streets. Service could be better because the bar surface was dirty and there wasn't a designated server so I had to flag one down to order and get the bill.

Can't remembered but all the food was good.

The food was flavorful and thoughtfully prepared, with each dish well-balanced and nicely seasoned. Every bite felt intentional, and you could tell care went into the cooking. The textures and flavors overall were satisfying without being overwhelming. The only dish that didn't quite land for me was the beef tongue--the slices were cut a bit too thick, which made the texture feel heavy, and the richness of the flavor became a bit overpowering. A thinner cut might have made it more enjoyable and balanced. Aside from that, everything else was delicious, and paired with the great ambiance and reasonable wait time for a weeknight, it made for a really enjoyable dining experience

Went here for a girls night and had a wonderful time. They have an extremely long wait times especially weekends so make sure you have time on hands. Their many is huge! Not kidding! It was hard to choose from. But the food was delicious and we ordered a bit too much!! Has absolute fun night!

The atmosphere and vibes inside is super lively and authentic. The decorations add a nice immersive experience. drunken noodles: 7.5/10. yummy but on the more oily side. I got it level spicy and that was a pretty good spice. chicken satay: 7.3/10. yummy chicken skewers, but the meat was a bit on the drier/chewier side. came with a thick almond butter based sauce? khao soi: 8/10. delicious !!! crispy noodles AND regular egg noodles. the texture and flavor was perfect ! comes with onions, lime, and pickled veggies on the side to make to your liking. staff is very friendly and attentive :)

Yum! My husband and I love Thai food and Chiang Rai is at the top of our list! The food is consistently delicious and they offer a wide variety of protein and food options. The service is always quick and efficient and the decor is really bright and fun. The wait time tends to be a lot shorter than nearby Thai spots as well. Would highly recommend!

Totally worth the hype. This spot is super cute and fun vibes and their food is incredible. Of course had to get the khao soi - I tried the dry version and it was very delish but I think I'd stick with the traditional version next time around. Their Thai tea was also very delightful. Overall great spot.

I recently came here with my sister. She kept on hearing her friend talking about Chiang Rai so wanted try it out. Food was very good but it's more on the pricey side for Thai foods. We had the crying tiger (grilled usda rib eye), som tum kor moo (papaya salad with grilled pork neck and sticky rice) and the beef curry with bamboo shoots. They were not only delicious but beautifully decorated. The meat was so tender on the crying tiger. My sister loved it and thought that was the best Thai food for her compared to all the ones she's had lately. :)

Wowza! Everyone talks about Manaoo but Chiang Rai may be my new favorite Thai place!! Everything we ordered was spectacular and we can't wait to come back! We got: Jor pu (crab dumpling)- so much crab and perfectly crispy. The homemade sweet and sour was amazing. Gang pla (Fish curry)- lychee in curry with sea bass!? Who knew.. my far one of our favorite dishes. Pad Kara Prow (with chicken) - so much flavor and with the chicken it felt lighter and so so good Midnight chicken with roti- perfectly fried and the inside deliciously tender. Khan Soi Noodle Soup- definitely a must try! It is one of my favorite dishes and then using the additional broth/curry over rice is perfection. Som tum Thai (papaya salad)- loved their salad- could've been a bit more spicy but they brought all the spice condiments over so that problem was quickly fixed. Thai Bua Loy (sesame balls) - perfect way to end the evening (even with an overly full belly) with the perfectly chewy-sesame filled balls with coconut milk. We've done take out but the inside ambiance feels that of a street restaurant and just gives all the best vibes. All the waiters and waitresses seem to help each other out--which is nice as you never feel neglected. Will absolutely be back.

This little gem in Tustin (my 3 top Thai local spots are in Tustin hmmm). Is worth the wait, although I would advise coming for lunch and waiting until they opened for first seating. We had the beef tongue skewers and the lime dressing dip was good enough to sip! The pad see ew was flavorful and large portions so enough leftovers for a pm snack. The coconut based soup (have the pic but the name escapes me) was so good and there are only two kinds so get it based on the main base broth! No liquor license yet so keep that in mind if you were wanting a little cocktail or Thai beer. Go to Manaao for that in the meantime.

Ask the Community - Chiang Rai

Since they do not take reservations, how busy do they get on Saturday evenings? Is there a wait and if so how long on average? 20 min, 45 min, 1+ hours?

Last time I was there, I waited like 40+ minutes.

Does Chiang Rai Tustin take reservations?

Yes, they did when we went in February! Called the night before.

Can they accommodate for a gluten allergy?

Yes, we have options for that

Is this the same as the one in long beach?

Yes. It is the same as Long Beach but a little different some of the menu .

    How long it open?

The Tustin location is quite new -- I'd say a month or two

The kids loved this so much we needed up having to order two. 2) garlic salmon - 4/5. Served over a bed of veggies. This one was à la cart so we had to order a side of rice. The Pad Thai was my favorite of the night. The flavor was so well-balanced -- not overly sweet, not too tangy, and the savory notes came through perfectly. The noodles were cooked just right and every bite felt comforting without being too heavy. You can tell they paid attention to the sauce ratio instead of drowning the dish in it. The calamari and shrimp with egg yolk glaze had that addictive crispy texture while still staying light. The egg yolk coating added richness without overpowering the seafood, and the sweet chili dip on the side tied everything together really well. The BBQ ribeye was tender, flavorful, and paired nicely with the fresh greens and dipping sauce. It had that smoky charred flavor that makes it hard to stop eating piece after piece. Overall, this meal felt satisfying without any one dish overpowering the others. Definitely one of those spots where you leave already thinking about what you want to order next time. Sadly, I didn't have enough room for dessert, but the mango sticky rice is definitely first on my list next time.

Nice ambiance overall with a great background music selection that fit the atmosphere well. Ordered the holy basil with wagyu beef. Unfortunately it wasn't memorable for me. Having pad kra pao plenty of times in Thailand, where it's usually moist, well seasoned, and fiery, this had heat but was noticeably dry. The egg was too small and too fried to be runny as you're supposed to be able to break the yolk into the beef and mix it together into the spicy beef. Other dishes might be good and I wouldn't mind trying something else as the menu is quite extensive, but this one was a skip.

Well, I guess it was bound to happen. While my food adventures in OC have largely been successful,…read moreit was inevitable that I'd end up coming across a place that so many folks like that just didn't hit the mark for me. However, I never would've thought that place was going to be Siam Station. After hearing good things about their spot in Cupertino/the Bay Area from several friends, it felt rather fortuitous when we randomly came across their original location - and with no line in sight! Inside, they've got a cozy sort of vibe and it's cool how they have some outdoor tables set-up as well. As for the menu, it didn't seem all that extensive at a glance, but it has all of the staples you'd expect to find among their appetizers, soups, salads, fried rice, stir fried noodles, noodle soups, curry dishes, entrees, and desserts. -- ZESTY WINGS - Deep Fried Chicken Wings Topped with Crispy Basil and Served with Chili Sauce Easily our favorite dish of the night. The wings were really crispy on the outside and oh so juicy on the inside. Even though there wasn't much of the sauce, which was flavorful but not that spicy, it was fine - the wings were still great without it. -- KHAO SOI with Chicken - Yellow Curry Broth with Egg Noodles and Chicken and Served with Red Onions, Lime, and Pickles Ehh...this was okay, I guess. On the plus side, the chicken was tender and I thought the broth was pretty good - not the best I've had, but better than most. That said, I didn't love the egg noodles, especially the crispy ones after they had soaked up the broth. -- PAD KEE MOW (Drunken Noodles) with Crispy Pork - Flat Rice Noodles Stir Fried with Spicy Basil Garlic Sauce, Bell Peppers, Tomato, Sweet Onion, and Thai Basil I was super excited for this, but it was disappointing. The first thing we noticed was how pale it was and, sadly, the taste matched. Whether it be their garlic sauce or some chilis, this needed more. As for the pork, it was definitely crispy, but a few pieces bordered on dry/burnt. -- MANGO STICKY RICE A little hit, a little miss. The mango was fine (decently sweet, soft), but the sticky rice left us a little wanting. Mainly, I didn't love the glob of coconut cream, was it was pretty thick and viscous, which gave the rice a weird texture/coating to it. As far as service goes, it was uneventfully good. Although there was one point where it was hard to hail someone, it was mostly because the restaurant got increasingly busy and one of the servers was trying to help a group sort something out with their order. Otherwise, our food came out relatively quick and the workers were rather efficient with everything. Despite how we left feeling bummed out by our experience, it had more to do with being underwhelmed than the food actually being "bad". Admittedly, we came in with high hopes/expectations from all of the hype we had heard and it probably didn't help that we had gone to Manaao the night before, which is one of my favorite Thai restaurants anywhere. What's more, I wonder if we just didn't get the best that Siam Station has to offer. I certainly wouldn't be opposed to coming back to find out (and potentially writing an update), but perhaps I'll just try my luck at their spot in Cupertino that my friends like so much.

Pad Thai with Crispy Pork- The noodles were soft and chewy and the sauce was a lovely combination of sweet and tangy. The crispy pork added a later of texture and flavor. Pineapple Curry with Chicken- The curry was bursting with flavor! The pineapple chunks added a burst of sweetness and freshness to every bite. The chicken was nice and tender. Great meal overall!

Absolutely delicious Thai food! Krua Mae Thai has quickly become one of my favorite go-to spots…read morewhen I'm craving authentic flavors and comforting dishes. Everything we ordered was packed with flavor and clearly made with care. The spices, freshness, and balance in the dishes were spot on. Each bite was satisfying and full of that bold, crave-worthy Thai taste. While the curry wasn't my personal favorite (the veggies were a bit undercooked for my taste), everything else more than made up for it. From the appetizers to the stir fry, everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Service was friendly and quick, and the owner/chef is always welcoming. Highly recommend this place for anyone who loves Thai food. You can really taste the quality and heart in every dish!

Visited on a Saturday afternoon and it was very busy but the wait wasn't too long though maybe 25…read moremins. They don't have many table to seat large parties (3+) they mostly have bar seating and the booth seating is pretty tightly packed so just a heads up that if you have a larger party you might need to wait longer. Luckily I got sat in their few middle tables that were spacious. I was able to order quickly and the workers are nice and gave me recommendations. Passion fruit green tea and this was definitely my favorite thing I ordered that day the drink was so light, refreshing, flavorful, but not too sweet the passion fruit seeds being in the drink was annoying though. (4/5) Spicy XLB they came out quick but I wished they were hotter they were just warm but delicious flavor and filling sadly was not spicy though no kick no heat at all. (3/5) Beef rolls nice and crispy lots of scallions and the cucumbers added a nice fresh aspect and crunch but needed more sauce. (3/5) Pan fried dumplings took the longest to come out were crispy but not that flavorful again very filling though. (2/5) Golden prime beef noodle soup I'm sorry but this was just not for my taste at all I can't even describe what flavor the soup was something I have never had before very unique. The noodles were nice and chewy but again I'm expecting soup to be hot but it just came out warm. (1/5) They had some sauce and chili oil on the table and I made a mix but it did not help add flavor to any of the items. I ordered too much and the leftover beef rolls and pan fried dumplings reheated well in the air fryer.
