It's good to be back! It's been awhile but still love the bar service and the variety of tacos. (...wish the tacos were bigger for the same price - about 3 bites) Good beer selections and love the margaritas too. My favorite is their chips and guac with side of mild salsa. I could eat that alone for a meal. Bartender makes me a drink that's no longer on the menu and it makes me feel like home. Parking can be tough depending on the time of day. Try it!
The OG Brisket Birria taco was soooooooo good. I love a spicy margarita, their set my soul on fire. My daughter enjoyed her kids taco and side of fries. Service was fast. It wasn't very busy on a Sunday evening. My daughter talked about all the art on the walls and was very entertained.
This review is actually for Session Taco at Busch stadium. Best vegan option in the park. I get the vegan soft tacos which are delicious. Usually no wait after you order . Food is prepared, but hot and fresh. Friendly service. A little pricey but what isn't at the ballpark!
I am visiting family in St. Louis and we decided to go into Mission Taco (now Session Taco) because we had a coupon! She had been there before, but I have not. It's street parking and it can be a bit hard to find if it's crowded. There was a sign when we walked in to seat ourselves. Although it wasn't packed the restaurant was still really loud. Our server came over but it took us quite awhile to get waters. We decided to start with the dip trio- which is the salsa, queso and guacamole. They do charge for chips and salsa here, which is kind of a bummer. The guac was fairly standard- good but nothing special. The salsa was decent- it was pretty spicy. The queso was just okay- it reminded me of Velveeta cheese. It was not really warm when it came out so it became pretty solid and hard to dip in. For the entrees I got 3 tacos (regular ground beef, the lobster and the carnitas). I picked these options as it looked like on the menu they weren't spicy. I should have asked the server because they were spicy aside for the lobster one. The lobster and carnitas were my favorite- although the carnitas was too hot for me. I really disliked the regular ground beef one it had a strong smoky spicy flavor. I also got the street corn, which was just okay. The person I went with got the shredded beef bowl. It was also just okay. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here. If I did I would ask questions and be more specific with the things I would or wouldn't get. Overall experience 2/5.
After an evening full of libations and dancing the night away (Jammin at the zoo), our group decided to get some much needed fuel at Mission Taco. Despite us being a group of 10 and arriving around 9:45, they were able to get us seated. After immediately being sat, the server came and gave us water. Shortly after, he came and took our drink and food order. Since I rarely ever eat after 7, i asked if I could get something off the kids menu (small and light), and he let me! I got the kids chicken burrito, which comes with chicken and cheese. Rather than get the rice on the side, he let me put it in the burrito, and I chose the fries for my side. The burrito was the perfect size, and if allowed, I'd totally order again. The chicken didn't have much seasoning, but the rice and cheese made up for it. As for the fries, mine were the only ones that weren't seasoned. While that was a bummer, at least they were well done! Our server did a great job keeping our large party hydrated, as well as providing amazing service. If I'm in the area, I'll def. be back,
The signature tacos are great. The guacamole is very flavorful. The atmosphere is great. Draft beer has a limited selection, lacking many domestics. My main complaint is the service is way too fast. Don't order your food too quickly if you're relaxing, or it will be out very fast.
Great tasting food and drinks even with the rebranding. The service was great and waiter was attentive and had great recs. It was during the day so it was nice setup with the garage door up. Still a fan of their work. Keep it up!!
This was our pick for tacos during our trip to St Louis while staying in Soulard. It proved to be one of our most disappointing meals. The service was fast, friendly and attentive and the vibe of the restaurant decor was bright and fun, so the 3 stars is based on the food only. The salsas, mild and hot, were both hot. They aren't complimentary and we let a lot of it go to waste. While not listed on the menu we ordered basic cheese queso and it was good - thick and flavorful. We ordered a burrito and variety of tacos, plus an order of beef empanadas. The empanadas were decent. I was thankful the beef wasn't overly seasoned. The outside was buttery and flaky, more like a biscuit than the crispy texture I'm used to for empanadas. The tacos were overwhelmed by their toppings, causing the protein to be missed. Or in my case, the meat was so seasoned, almost a burnt taste, that I only ate the toppings and skipped the rest. Overall, not the experience we'd hoped for and I'd recommend seeking an alternative spot.
Stumbled upon Mission in Soulard after stopping in St. Louis for lunch. The neighborhood itself is super cute, historic, and the farmers market was neat to explore and walk through. The bartenders were super friendly, and started lunch with chips and some of the best queso and a margarita. Food arrived quickly, and was fantastic! Will definitely be stopping back by! Loved it
Before leaving St. Louis had to make a stop to eat! And Mission Taco Joint stuck out! A Very historic place! Old antiques aligned the entire restaurant. We ordered a couple steak tacos and beef Taco for the kid! Good food. Good staff! Can't really go wrong with tacos. (2021)
The perfect afterwork hangout spot for big groups and good bites! Environment: This place is an open and vibrant, yet casual ambiance that caters toward big groups but also has smaller tables for smaller groups too. Not sure if it's the best first date spot but definitely good vibes for those long term couples. The music is a bit loud so our vocal cords got their workout in. Restaurant was bustling with conversations though too... so maybe a good thing? Despite that, definitely one of the better decorated Mission Tacos in the area. Food/Drink: We ordered chips and salsas for the appetizer for the table. Both salsas both had deep flavors and were delicious. The red sauce is a bit smoky and a bit spicy which my party loved. The chips are thicker than normal cantina style, so may not cater to everyone. Unfortunately only able to snag a picture of my own entree this time since the table ended up being super crowded. I got the South Beach burrito smothered in a spicy ranchero salsa. Flavors on point and quality ingredients to create this Mexican staple. Only complaint with the burrito would be that it lacked a crunch to balance out the textures and and element of freshness. Rice was slightly mushy as well unfortunately. The burrito needs some pico or lettuce to brighten the burrito. Some members of the party also got drinks (see pictures) which were surprisingly strong, but on the sweeter side. Rating: 4/5, one of the better Mission Taco's in the area. Attentive service and caters to restrictions/requests very well. Amazing atmosphere for a casual bite. The food is solid but has some shortcomings as above. High rating to emphasize the vibes and great service!
We had a long day Tuesday and decided to hit up Mission Taco. Great decision. Let's start with the Mission Margarita! Most places only put a table spoon of tequila in their margaritas. Not Mission. It was good and strong and gets you where you need to be. The youngest talked me into getting two of them. The special taco was the Pixie and the squid. While my youngest she's 24, couldn't get past the Asian influence I loved it and wish i had made my grilled fish taco a squid one instead. Not sure how long they will have it on the menu but go try it!! Now they weren't lying about the spicy chorizo. It's SPICY!! I usually don't get tacos from mission because of the corn tortillas. I'm not a fan. But our waitress had them make all of our tacos on flour tortillas. She's my new best friend. We always get a plate of the carne asada fries because why not? They are amazing. But going back to the margaritas. Getcha a couple of them. My husband had to hold on to me on the way out. Taco Tuesday success!! read more

So many tacos! The environment was vibrant and fun! The service was quick and helpful for one customer who has a gluten intolerance. He specifically moved her items to its own tray to eliminate confusion. Recommend great drinks and threw up n a surprise churro! read more
I've eaten at this place a couple times, but always forget to review it because I just dive into the food and forget to post about it. The Mango-Hop-Anero Shrimp is my personal favorite, but they have options for everyone. Their chips and salsa for the table is awesome! It comes with 2 salsas, one mild and the other spicy ($4). Their drinks are also pretty darn good too. I ordered the Smuggler Blues and it tasted like a sweet tart. Delicious! I do wish they had a happy hour specials, but their prices are fairly priced already. read more

This is my go-to mexican spot most of the time, in Soulard. They have GREAT salsa and drinks. The street tacos are usually what I get. The vegan options are great too. The service is great. The walls have great mexican murals. read more
I had the portobello mushroom and the grilled fish, grilled fish was okay wish it was cut up or more crisp, it just was a big hunk of fish which is fine but I won't be getting again. BUT LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THIS PORTOBELLO MUSHROOM TACO. Absolutely phenomenal, base is smashed black bean with portobello mushrooms ofc, then some spiced arugula, some kickin goat cheese topped with the ever so perfect fried onions. The portobello was so delicious, I ordered a second. Okay also, Uhm their service is incredibly fast, I came with a friend and we ordered one minute and not just 2 minutes later our tacos were out. Also shoutout to our waitress that suggested the portobello mushroom to me. I love asking waitresses/waiters bc they truly know what is good. Big big fan will be coming back soon! read more

I went to Mission Taco on a busy Saturday evening. We started with the chips and salsa and an order of queso. I enjoyed both. The salsas were unique and the queso was topped with chorizo which added great flavor. I also ordered the Mission Margarita which was quite tasty. For my entree I ordered the Yucatecan Pork, Carne Molida, and Hot Fried Chicken tacos. The food took longer than expected to arrive but on a busy night it wasn't a huge deal. Our waitress was attentive and ensure our chips and drinks were refilled until our food came. Overall 2/3 of my tacos were excellent. I did not care much for the Yucatecan Pork but that may just be a personal preference. I would definitely come again and try some of the other offerings. read more

Every trip I go on, I'm always looking for my next taco shop, and Mission Taco Joint is the place to go in STL. I am a salsa snob, and this place passes the test! Excellent fish, hot chicken, carne asada, and yucatecan pork tacos. The drinks were delicious, and our server was top notch. We hope to be back on our next trip to STL. Really fun place. Tacos are ordered individually and are pretty small so it's easy to try multiple taco choices! They were all fantastic! We also got chips with salsa and the churros afterward which were both very good and unique! Everything was reasonably priced. The atmosphere is lively with colorful art around the establishment as well. read more

#curbside #togo #pandemic Nailed it! Let's be honest, yes I would have rather been sitting at the bar with a Margarita enjoying my chips, hot salsa with a side of queso. However, taking my carry-out order home and enjoying it with a classic episode of Law & Order was just as enjoyable and delicious. The carry-out Margarita, surprised me. It had the same refreshing taste, as if it had just been shaken behind the bar. Of course, I gave mine a good stir before pouring it over ice at home. I also enjoyed two of my favorite tacos, Hot Chicken and Baja Grilled Fish. When I saw that the to-go vessel held three tacos, I felt guilty not ordering a Portobello as well. My ride home is approximately 5 miles. The tacos were still as warm as, if they were carried out from the kitchen and placed in front of me at the bar. The process of ordering on-line was simple. I was out running errands and decided I wanted Mexican for lunch. So I drove over to Soulard, parked and ordered on my iPhone. After completing my order they gave me approximate time it would be ready and when it was being bagged up, they sent me a text message telling me it was ready. So easy and well organized. To make it safe for everyone they have signage up encouraging everyone to stand 6 feet apart while waiting for you order. They even took it a step further and have marking on the sidewalk for those who do not know the difference between 6 inches and 6 feet. Will I return? - Hell, yes. Mission taco is always going to be a 10/10 everytime. Prices are unmatched. Atmosphere is so fun! Plenty of dining room for bigger parties too. Perfect pregame restaurant before a night out. Street parking only here but never have an issue finding a spot; and if you have to walk there's lots to see along the way! I have never been dissatisfied here. The street corn and BLT taco are some of my favorites! read more

Erica was our precious sever. Very pleasant & accomdating. We enjoyed an array of tacos. Personally I devoured the Portobello sans sauce for the perfect vegetarian option. My companion left no evidence of the Baha & Fried Chicken tacos (murdered'em). Presentation was lovely as well as overall decor. It's a pretty happening, vibrant, spacious place to have a drink, watch a game, take a date or just a load off solo. Really enjoyed Mission Taco. Cool vibe inside. Friendly staff. No one of that matters as much as great food. I live in Dallas where we have some great taco shops. This one I is really good. If you know Dallass, thiS place in St. Louis has a Deep Ellum feel to it. We had a flight of tacos I closing duck, hot chicken, carnitas, and baja fish. They were all good. I will say the hot chicken was more like "spicey" than hot; relatively mild. We added sides of their version of elote off the cob corn and cilantro lime rice which had a hint of spice to it. I would order it all again but am anxious to try other options options. Menu pics I included. read more

This place has a fun vibe and a good atmosphere. We came for dinner and has a good meal! Patrick was a great server and helped us when we had no clue what to get LOL. We had some margs, chips, quesadillas, and corn. Everything was yummy. I always end up here after a day of partying and its a great night cap. read more

YUM! Zero wait time on MLK Monday, but the place waS busy. We had an order or chicharrónes which were a special of the day and they were POPPING literally lol. It arrived fresh to our table and they were still popping. They were also delicious. We also ordered some margaritas which was good. The tacos were delicious, I had 3 (shrimp, chicken, and the special of the day which was like shredded beef) they were all delicious but I wish they were all serve on corn tortillas. The flour one was okay. Finally, we had churros! They come with a pretty nice sizzle plate of hot chocolate to dip. The churros were a nice touch to end the meal. Totally recommend. read more
This taco joint seems to be a popular place considering how there are a few in the area but I wasn't overly impressed. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing but then again I did take a few bites out of my husbands tacos. I guess it's worth a try but I personally wouldn't go back. read more

This place was good, but i would like to go back and eat there when it's fresh. I got it on DoorDash so I can only imagine how much better it was fresh. The tacos were still crunchy and full of flavor! The only negative was that I felt the tacos were small for the price I was paying per taco, but the freshness and flavor kind of made up for it. The chips, salsa, and queso were pretty good, it had just the perfect amount of spicy for me. I really liked having multiple salsas to try out. read more
Spicyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!! Most of the tacos were spicy without warning. They should have a little spice sign on their menu. The tacos have descriptions but not everyone understands every type of pepper and knows their level of spiciness. I enjoyed the tacos nonetheless and the guacamole. I also like the tiki drinks offered on their menu. When visiting I would recommend to friends but it is personally to spicy for me. read more

The service was really good. The waiter was very attentive and helpful. It's VERY loud here, so if you are sensitive to sound be weary. The parking is horrendous. But, the food was very good so I didn't mind the long walk to get to the location. Great presentation as well. read more
Great tacos! Came here on a Wednesday night. I really like the variety in the taco options available. I ordered 3 tacos and the BBQ Duck was probably my favorite. The glaze was really yummy and the jalapeno strips gave it just the right amount of kick. The Baja Fish was pretty good, the chipotle baja sauce was the highlight. And the Mango-Hop-Anero Shrimp was really great. I wish I had a bottle of their mango aioli sauce. If I'm ever back in town I'd love to try some of their other tacos or other menu items! read more
Let me start with the good. They have a handful of great vegan options and vegetarian options that you won't find many other places in this area. My wife loved the vegan soft shell tacos: they had good texture flavor and each of the ingredients added to the taco well. I had the vegan burrito which overall was pretty good but was just missing something. I liked the vegan meat they used but I think that it could have really used some sautéed vegetables, crunch, and/or good hot sauce. Overall the atmosphere was just okay but the service was good. Overall if you are vegetarian/vegan and want a place for some vegan tacos, it's not a bad place to check out. read more

Recommended by a co-worker, I'm a bit of a taco snob so I have high expectations of any taco place that I go to. For it to meet that benchmark, you have to have a variety of meats and flavors, there has to be a couple of available hot sauces, and you have to have a dope margarita. I gotta say, Mission really came through on all three. Who woulda thunk a taco joint in St Louis would be pushing such good product. I started out with the hibiscus frozen margarita; you add any flavor to a margarita and the sugar index usually goes through the roof. Not the case, the margarita still had a balance of sweet and sour. I had another margarita afterwards just to test my theory and I was just as pleased the second time around. For the tacos, I got grilled fish, shrimp and mango, duck, fried chicken, beef brisket, and carne asada. For those keeping track at home, that's 6 tacos. Yes, I'm a glutton, but the tacos are more street than Bell, so you can put down a bunch and not feel too bad about it. Plus, who knows when I'll be back!? I could tell that they don't make a bad taco, but my favorites were the fried chicken and the mango and shrimp. The fried chicken taco managed to be a juicy chicken tender with some cilantro and salsa. Great flavors that really went well together. As for the shrimp taco, I normally don't like mango in things, but it added texture to the shrimp and gave it this really awesome sweet and savory taste. Plus, the service was attentive and the bartenders were both pretty cool and chill. That's all you really can ask for right?!? Serve me and let me eat. So is this place like the taco stands in Miami or San Diego? Hey, it's all relative, but this place is really as good as it gets for tacos in St Louis, so if you're in the area, and it's taco Tuesday, you know what to do. And if you're a late nighter, take advantage of the $2 tacos and $2 shots after 10 pm. Golden Girls comes on at 10 so I can't make it. read more

My friends daughter is attending Washington U. So we decided to try something close to campus that had vegetarian friendly choices. We order the Mexican Street Corn Fritters, Sweet corn "Off the Cob" and Fries for the table. I had the Mushroom Quesadilla, my niece order the BBQ Duck Taco & Baha Fish while my friend has the soy tacos. Now I'll be honest, the sharable side dishes were delicious!! We all were enjoying them so much and were equally excited for our main dishes to come out. My mushroom quesadilla was a bit on the soggy side but flavor wise it was good. Wished the tortilla could've been grilled to make it more on the crispier side. My niece said the BBQ Duck taco was amazing and could've ate 3 or 4 of those and probably would just order them next time and pass on the fish. The Soy tacos had a lot of heat so the flavor was good but less heat might have made them great! We will try it again when visiting and try something else but definitely will keep the same sharable dishes. read more
